German fashion brand Strenesse has launched Strenesse Gabriele Strehle, a new fragrance named for the line's designer. Strenesse Gabriele Strehle, "a subtly seductive alternative to opulent, overpowering orientals", replaces a now-discontinued 2001 fragrance of the same name.
Strenesse was developed by perfumer Ursula Wandel; the notes include pear sorbet, lime, red pepper, white peach, magnolia, cedar and sandalwood.
Strenesse Gabriele Strehle is available in 50 and 75 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products. (via wwd)
I don’t know why, but I’m offended on behalf of opulent, overpowering orientals everywhere.
LOL!!
Ditto Miss Kitty!
Me too. I am sure the Shalimar I am wearing today would make short work of this subtly seductive fruit confection!
Hear, hear. Long live Serge Lutens’ Arabie.
I’m worried by the fruit in here but since I love red pepper, I’d give it a whirl. Bet it isn’t to be released here though, huh?
They have 2 stores here, but I have no idea if they’ll carry it or not.
To my nose it is very very fruity, I don’t like it.
I’m with asuperlongusername on this one, but I would give it a spin for the pepper, magnolia and the woods. I haven’t noticed this brand in Germany before but will look out for it next month when I am over there.
Karstadt is carrying it.
Thanks – I’ll look out for it. Karstadts are easy enough to fall over, though there are different grades of store I believe.
Again, misread this as “Strenuous”. That alone makes it too much work to try … it’s Friday and I’m tired.
Yes! Hilarious!!
Speaking of stenuous – isn’t it questionable marketing to have such a long, hard to pronounce and confusing name for a perfume? And I’ll take my orientals straight up, thanks.
I’m thinking it’s really not that confusing for a German speaker. No worse than Laura Mercier Minuit Enchante, or numerous others… at least to my eyes.
The name is composed of the brand name “Strenesse” and the name of the head designer / owner “Gabriele Strehle”. I think in addition to the brand name they have been trying for some years to also emphasize the designer’s name (possibly there is a separate fashion line as sublabel, too). That is probably the reason for its name.
Actually, it sounds kind of interesting. I think I might go on a hunt to find a sample.
Think this is going to be harder to get a sample, than it seemed originally.
Peach and Magnolia always hypnotize me and throw in that frosty Pear note and AWAAAYYY WE GO! Hope to find this somewhere, that bottle is Minimalist Chic if ever i say it!
This bottle looks like a direct copy of the (discontinued) Barbara Bui fragrance…
Oh noes! The original Strenesse in the cylinder bottle with the thumbprint is in my top 5 frags list without a doubt. I’m so sad (but not necessarily surprised) to read it’s been discontinued… It’s so beautiful, simple and sultry all at once.
I’ll try this, but don’t think it would be a replacement for the original. I see some definite stockpiling in my future… I hate when frags I really love get discontinued. 🙁
Absolute Scentualist, when I read Miss Kitty’s delightful comment, I immediately thought, “And I’m offended on behalf of discontinued/reissued/reformulated turn of the century fragrances everywhere!”
I’m not familiar with this one, but I LOVED the original 1999 J’Adore, so I’m sad to hear about another untimely demise.
nozknoz, Strenesse is a very pretty and long-lasting veil of fragrance that starts with some soft milky peach to dry down into this beautiful musky almond/heliotrope with a lingering kiss of the peach in the top notes and a whisper of florals. It is really sensual and sexy along the lines of a skin scent and one that lingers gently on clothing, and I’ve already been through two or three bottles. I wasn’t aware of Strenesse J’Adore, only the Dior perfume, but will lift a toast in agreement to beautiful perfumes that, for some reason, apparently just didn’t catch on. 🙁
I was encouraged that the original Strenesse had some summer flankers, but apparently that wasn’t enough. *sobs*
this fragrance is really great. Its my new fav this year…
I ordered it from the strenesse page after i got a sample in Austria. Defenitely exquisite!!!
Does anyone knows where to find the piano track in the video?
I really love it too.
@Helena:
this piano track for the Gabriele Strehle Strenesse fragrance is composed from Kay Tokner. Kay Tokner works only for very exclusive things so that song underlines the great brand of Gabriele Strehle.
The songs name is ” Never give Up!” . You will find a youtube video of it. Hope i could help you.
