Creed will launch Spice & Wood, a new fragrance in the Royal Exclusives collection (see last year's Sublime Vanilla), in November:
The romance of Cleopatra and Mark Antony inspired Spice and Wood. The woody oriental mixes top notes of Italian bergamot, Egyptian lemon and Court Pendu Plat apple with a heart of Angelic root, rose, clove, desert peppers, patchouli and Italian birch. It dries down into Egyptian iris and cedar, oak moss and musk.
Creed Spice & Wood will be available in 250 ml for $550. (via wwd)
This sounds good, and there are some nice Creeds (and a lot of otherwise), but I still haven’t found one that I’m willing to pay their prices for. (Bois du Portugal, Green Irish Tweed, and the original, discontinued Tabarome come closest.) The only way something like this would work for me is if I did a split, because the per-volume price isn’t really that bad, $110 for 50 mL, around the same as a lot of other niche scents. But I can’t see dropping $550 on one bottle, however good it is, particularly when it’s in a quantity i could never get through in a lifetime.
250 ml is a lot of ml, it’s true…
it sounds good. really good. i agree with pyramus…creeds are a mixed bag at best, and 550 is a whole lot of jingle. i wish the perfume companies would start a trend of making small, more sensible, affordable bottles. i’m way more apt to buy a small jo malone for 55.00 without stressing than i am to buy a gallon of creed for 550.
Ditto.
Whole lotta jingle … excellent!
Also agree with pyramus … although I really like Green Irish Tweed and am curious about Green Valley, which also sounds good.
Well, I’m down for anything that involves history’s most dysfunctional couple however, Creed is one of those ridiculously overpriced gigs that I tend to avoid. If I want Old World aesthetic I can easily stick with SMN.
I’m much more an SMN type myself — it’s become one of my favorite lines. Was just chatting last night with Carlos about all the Creed worship that I don’t understand, though to be fair I like a few.
Just curious — what’s SMN? Thanks!
Santa Maria Novella.
That flacon is beautiful. Im sure ill smell this if i see it somewhere. I really liked their last one, Aventus.
Pretty bottle. Sounds very good except for that apple they tried to sneak past me….but that is a really big bottle, and it really is a LOT of jingle (that’s perfect Stella) , and then it is Creed….and Creed is , to date, my least favorite house. So far I’ve encountered only one Creed I have not considered to be vile: Fleur de The Rose Bulgare which is a nice summer rose.
Creed does not work for me either, no staying power, nothing special. Especially at that price 🙁
Like many of you, I am not a member of the Creed Fanclub. Most of them leave me wondering where the rest of the fragrance is. (I will admit to loving Fleurisimo years ago, but don’t know what I would think of it now.) This does sound nice, but definitely not in my price range. 🙁
I haven’t been a big fan of any Creeds so far either but this sounds really good to me! I can’t imagine needing 250 ml of anything, though, even if it was reasonably priced!
My my…that’s alot of juice! This one sounds like it might be worth a sniff. I tried the Sublime Vanilla and smelled nothing…really. Some Creed’s I’ve owned and enjoyed…Green Irish Tweed, Millesime Imperial, Royal Water, Royal Delight and Original Santal.
and I forgot….Angelique Encens.
Angelique Encens is (was) one of my Holy Grails. I absolutely adored it, and now they don’t make it anymore. I don’t know what might be comparable, and I really miss it, esp. now that it’s winter. I’ve been comforting myself with Heeley Cardinal, but it’s just not the same!
Guess I won’t complain about the Chanel Exclusifs any more! Yeesh. They are a bargain in comparison.
I remember smelling some Creeds a lot of years ago and being so unimpressed that to this day I walk right by that counter without a glance. I think my reaction was similar to Miss Kitty’s. Someday I will open my heart and give them a try but in the meantime they are just an obstacle on the way to the Guerlain counter.
