Tocca has launched Colette, a new fragrance for women:
Inspired by the French novelist and courtesan known solely as Colette, this fine fragrance captures the seductive essence of a woman whose feminine beauty and audacious achievements are worth noticing. Known for her exotic escapades as much as her inspiring writing, the fragrance named for her embodies the irresistible scent that lingers on the pillow long after she leaves. Warm, spicy and sweet smelling, Colette is the perfect fragrance for the salacious woman in us all.
The notes feature bergamot, mandarin, lemon, juniper berry, pink pepper, jasmine, violet, cyclamen, pine, incense, musk, sandalwood, amber, vanilla and cedar.
Tocca Colette is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum; $68, and can be found now at Luckyscent or Sephora.
Sounds very bright and citrussy; not what I’m craving on this cold and rainy morning
Hard to tell. If they say it’s warm, hopefully it is.
“Courtesan”????!!!!! The dummies.
It’s pretty silly.
I was going to say that! Are they mad?!
Somebody is probably confusing her with characters in her books.
Well, that’s a bit unfortunate, isn’t it, considering she is one of the greatest writers France ever had.
Count me in for a similar reaction– I’m utterly bewildered by this, particularly as Colette was the sort of dutiful wife who allowed her enterprising husband/manager to actually lock her in her room until she produced her weekly quota of written chapters.
Warm, spicy, and sweet? Sounds good to me. I wonder if Sephora has it yet.
They have it online but don’t know if it’s in stores.
You know, I have a hard enough time constantly being bombarded with “hot” “sexy” etc……and now salacious?? Really??
sounds nice, and i kind of like the bottle… wonder if it is available in Sweden. will have to check it out.
I suppose a little research or oh, perhaps a bit of familiarity with the subject would have been too much to ask for? sheesh.
Aside from that, I generally like Tocca, and I think they’re very nicely done. I thought I had sampled this one when Krok asked me about it the other day….now I know I must be mixing it up with another of their Ladies names fragrances. Can’t wait to try it!
**sorry Krok, for the bad info**
I’ve been left cold by all the Toccas I have tried so far (I keep getting samples with orders of stuff), but I do have a very nice candle I got as a gift. It’s not that they are nicely done, they just don’t make much of an impression.
Money saved! Which is good, because I am giving Daisy a run for her money this quarter. Gack.
Ditto. I will probably get flamed but I don’t think any of them are worth even the $68…
I was trying to figure out why this sounded like something that had been out a while, and realized I was confusing it with HdP. Anyway, the Toccas are very well done, although I’ve never found one I have to have. I love the bottles– they remind me of antique crystal doorknobs.
Perhaps it also looks like it’s been done before because all the Toccas look the same. I only really like Stella, and it’s impossible to pick anything up on a whim because I always have to look up “which one has the blood orange notes?” It’s like the Sweet Anthem perfumes – if there’s nothing to differentiate them in the bottle and I can’t remember the name, then I can’t remember which of your myriad offerings I actually like. I find it kind of annoying.
I guess they’re all a slightly different color in the bottle, but. It doesn’t work for me. (It also kind of gives me the impression that they will all smell mostly the same… but when I’ve bothered to test them they don’t.)
I’ve liked the Toccas – I have an FB of Catania (the splash – nice vanilla) and have flirted with getting Bianca all summer. I will happily try this, with high hopes but no great expectations.
I haven’t yet tried a Tocca, but that list of notes appeals to me. Every last item!
I’d be intrigued if someone (other than Guerlain) used Francoise Sagan – the woman and her work – as perfume inspiration. Lots of potential there (but a good portion of the profits might have to go to the Sagan estate I guess). Guerlain on its website seems not to directly credit La Chamade as the inspiration for Chamade, maybe for that reason.
Georges Simenon would be good as a masculine – tobacco, leather, maybe some tweed …
Any fragrance that contains a massive error in concept and links”cedar” and “salacious” would seem to appeal to a hamster. It’s a pass for me.
The Tocca line is a funny animal. The bottles are wonderful with their heavy cut glass and beautiful metal tops. The fragrances are kind of meh though. The only I liked was Bianca and have been wearing it all summer. This new one is at least worth a sniff.
I wish they’d carry the splashes in-store as well, because I’ve been wanting to try them for a while. I find their perfumes kinda same-y, even in their ad copy, but it sounds like the splashes are a much better deal in the price/wearability/interestingness ratio.
They’re pleasant, but not worth $68 IMHO. I do love their Cleopatra shower gel though.
This is my go-to fragrance when I want something light but still want to make an impression. I have had more people ask me about this than any other fragrance. And not “what’s that smell?” questions but “where can I buy it… how much is it… do they still make it” questions. I spray it in my hair because it has absolutely no longevity on my skin.
