At Harrod’s, you say? I think of OJ as the most boutique-y of the niches. What ever happened to the N.A. distribution that was supposed to be happening? Hate those darn shipping charges, and I love the line…
Honestly don’t know…they put off the US website, but at the time said it was still in the works. That would have been a couple years ago now though. So perhaps they’ve changed their minds?
I have to agree with you, Erin. The shipping is almost painful, but the happy thrill of ordering from OJ, a company whose products and packaging are so glam, more than makes up for it.
Robin, will you be reviewing the Harajuku Sunshine Cuties? I haven’t gotten to test them and have been considering them as a blind purchase since I like the original set so much. I imagine if one likes that and the Escada LEs, as I do, they’re along the same lines.
They do make glamorous packages, don’t they? I’m not usually ga-ga over packaging or “filler”, but OJ is one of the few lines where I’m tempted to keep the paper the travel sprays come wrapped in: black tissue with almost solid flecking in gold. I love the colors… and the scents, of course, too.
I know. I’m the sort who saves wrappings as it is, so anything in pretty paper, thick satin ribbons or even a really lovely box is kept. I love the whole experience of opening elegant packaging, and OJ as well as Divine have really cornered that market. Oh, and the thrill of opening my bottle of Guerlain SDV… It was like perfume foreplay! lol
No, sorry, I won’t — gave them a quick sniff and they weren’t any more interesting than the originals, so didn’t seem worth it.
Would that be a polite way of saying these aren’t dissimilar enough from the originals that one would need to own both? If the SC set is running about $100 for all five like the Snow Bunnies set but doesn’t smell too much different, it will be harder to part with money that could definitely be better spent elsewhere.
Well, they’re different from the originals, but not terribly so…but then again, I didn’t put a single one on skin so maybe I shouldn’t even say. Maybe more like a polite way of saying it’s a fun line but not exactly perfume genius to begin with? I mean, I think they sell mostly for the packaging anyway. If you love the packaging, why not….
OJ made it to Harrods ?! They won’t ship to the US though.
Oh, won’t they? Didn’t know.
nope. says at the bottom of the description that it’s non-exportable. And their prices are the same as ordering from OJ anyhow. I don’t think that OJ’s shipping charge is nearly as bad as some other UK & international merchants—-seems like it was around $13 or 14 USD–which is way better than first in fragrance which starts at $25 for their “hey, if it disappears; too bad” shipping. OJ sends me their occasional email advertisement, always artistic but if they wanted to get swamped with business? Give us Americans a free shipping sale—I’d be right there waving my credit card!
