Royal Apothic, a brand best known for their home fragrances, has launched Extracts, a collection of single note personal fragrances meant to be worn alone or layered. Five the scents are now available at Anthropologie:
Green Tea: the essence of Camelia Sinensia leaves - slightly bitter yet aromatic (FRESH)
Violette Pastille: the distinctly sweet extract of the viola plant (FLORAL)
Fig: the scent of fresh-picked figs (FRUIT)
Orange Blossom: inspired by the scent of a California orange grove in bloom (FRUIT)
Marigold: the bright scent of golden flowers (FLORAL)
The Royal Apothic Extracts fragrances are available in 10 ml Roll-on, $16 each. A line of Eaux de Parfum in bulb atomizers is to follow. (via anthropologie, additional information via royalapothic)
I would be very interested in trying the Marigold. That doesn’t seem to be a common floral note. I remember Kevin saying it’s in CdG’s Laurel, and I love that. Can’t remember ever smelling the flower itself, but would love to learn to pick it out of a scent.
I wouldn’t mind smelling them either, but since they’re roll on I doubt I’ll try them at Anthropologie. Assuming they even do testers.
Coincidentally, I just got a sample of Laurel, based on Kevin’s review. It does have a prominent marigold note, especially in the top notes. Marigolds have an interesting strong smell that would not have occurred to me as a perfume, but it really does work in Laurel (THANK YOU, Kevin, and CdG!). Now I’m thinking they could be interesting in something more feminine, too.
I need to spend more time with Laurel…it wasn’t love at first sight but I keep thinking about it, which usually means I’ll eventually need a bottle.
I like vetiver a lot, and have several varieties. While I need to test Laurel further, too, I think it may provide a new scent that is natural and clean without being soulless or boring. Could marigold be the new vetiver?
I wonder if these are “single-note” in the sense of soliflore, or in the sense of “essential oil plus alcohol”. And, of course, if the latter, why bother?
I think the former…
I’ll have to pop into Anthropologie to see if they have these. I’m also really interested in Marigold and would easily spend $16 if it even remotely captures the smell of the flower.
Let us know how they are if you do…
Boo… đ my Anthropologie doesn’t have these yet, but I’ll try again in the next few weekends.
Mmm, affordable rollerballs. They’re my favorite aromatherapy. Fingers crossed that Violette Pastille and Marigold are well done.
Let’s hope…
Oh, these sound fun! I like the choice of scents, and they are a good price too.
The price is great.
I seem to recall marigold as a note in Boudoir, but I could be wrong. It wouldn’t surprise me if that particular note’s lurking in there somewhere. It’s quite a heady perfume and I can almost smell the marigold.
Orange Blossom and Violette Pastille sound perfect, and I could snag both of them for the price of one ounce of department store perfume. Even if the lasting power isn’t amazing, rollerballs make it a breeze to do little touch ups throughout the day.
And yay for an affordable perfume line. I read the headline and thought,”Oh no. Another $75 a pop fragrance line…” So glad I was wrong!
Yes, this one’s reasonably priced. Be interesting to see what the EdPs cost when they launch.
