Grès has launched Caline Exotic Moments, a limited edition flanker to 2005's Caline:
Caline Exotic Moments lets you revisit a sunset in a desert oasis, as the heat slowly dissipates and a gentle breeze carries with it fragrances reminiscent of blooming groves of orange trees or the richly ornate fabric of an exotic evening dress. It is that moment between day and night that brings to life the myths and heroes from Arabian Nights, the blue hour of Caline Exotic Moments.
The perfumers were Thomas Lafontaine and Henri Bergia; the notes for the fruity chypre include mandarin, green leaves, black currant, peach, coriander, Damascus rose, benzoin, styrax, patchouli and cedar.
Grès Caline Exotic Moments is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (via parfumsgres)
I somehow missed Caline – didn’t realize Gres had new releases. That list of notes all over the place – I must smell this. 😉
*is* all over the place.
They actually do quite a few releases…but I never see any of them in the US except at the discounters.
I’d forgotten Gres did those “hommages à” Marlene Dietrich & Greta Garbo. Do you know anyone who ever tried those? I remember being curious about them at the time.
Never heard a darned word about them. That I can remember, which isn’t quite the same thing.
They were all panned in PTG, but I don’t know of anyone else who tried them.
The notes on this sound fairly nice, but I am unfairly biased against pink-and-purple packaging.
Joe, I tried the Marlenes and the Gretas…
They are note very original (one floral here, one chypre there, one fruity musk over there… and they’ve covered all the bases)
The bottles and the packaging are very nice, but that does not make a desirable fragrance.
Also they are not subtle at all. Very very one dimensional IMHO.
Here in Argentina some distributors carry Grés, so you can find the line in many perfume shops in Buenos Aires. But they do not invest in marketing at all (no billboards, magazines or tv ads, as opposed to other brands) I was actually surprised when I stumbled over the Marlenes.
I love the ad copy imagery and list of notes. It sounds really nice, though more suited to autumn than spring.
It does sound like a fall scent.
