A Perfume Organic is a new indie line debuting with four natural, certified-organic fragrances:
Green (above center) ~ "Our signature perfume GREEN, is a juicy herbal potion with rose (New York's state flower), black truffle, blue and roman chamomile and an overdose of ylang ylang with a spicy wood finish."
Urban Organic (above left) ~ "Urban Organic is a sweet lemon sorbet with bourbon, tangy lime peel, basil & ginger and smoky vetiver."
Perfumed Wine Rosé (above right) ~ "Sommelier, Katherine Marlowe, is collaborating with A Perfume Organic to select wine notes for the new Perfumed Wine Trio. The first release in the trio - Rosé - fresh berry, crisp apple, dark oaks, and rich spices blend beautifully."
White Magik (not shown) ~ "White flowers, jasmine, mystical angelica root, and sage will cast a lovely spell."
A Perfume Organic Green and Urban Organic are available now at Spirit Beauty Lounge; Perfumed Wine Rosé will launch in March, White Magik in April. All four scents are in 12 ml Perfume Oil rollon, $65 each. (via press release)
Whew! I’m so relieved—these don’t interest me at all! Okay, the Green tried to suck me in with rose and black truffle…
But for the most part, “natural & organic” fragrances just don’t work for me …really don’t work. really. really.
I like lots of naturals myself, but they are different!
Naturals don’t work for you? But the Mecca Balsamico is an all-natural, no?
yup, risky business, eh? It was the promise of the incense that broke thru my reserve on that one. And I’m only keeping 10ml for myself—so even though there’s a lot of the stuff coming to my house….only a little bit is staying. And, if I hate it—I have a feeling I’ll find someone to take it off my hands. (at least that’s what I’m hoping)
I got interested on the Wine Rosé one. I love fragrances with boozy notes, and this one looks very tempting. The price isn’t cheap, but it’s absurd too.
Do anybody knows a boozy scent with cherry accent?
too many childhood cold & cough syrups have ruined cherry anything for me!
But for boozy notes—Frapin 1270, Ginestet Botrytis, Lubin Idole and Spiritueuse Double Vanille come to mind ….none with cherry though.
Yum, I love Lubin Idole!
It’s not cherry, but Angel Rose has a syrupy boozy rose fruit cordial quality that I quite enjoy. It smells half way between something that would get you plastered and something you’d pour on crepes.
Abirae, you got me curious about angel rose now rs I’ll see if i can grab a sample of it. It would be very interesting a velvet boozy rose fragrance too.
To me, F Malle Une Rose is very boozy. You might like to try it.
Daisy, I love Idole. It was one of my best buys on this type of fragrance. The closest that I have from a cherry boozy fragrance is kilian back to black, that is a cherry-rum-vanilla-pipe-tobacco to me, kind of the child of tobacco vanille and ambre narguile to my nose. I also love the maraschino cherry scent of the new dolce vitta, but i’m searching for something more cherrish and with boozy botes too. Maybe because of this cough syrup associations is that there is so many cherry fragrances on the market.
Frapin 1270 is wonderful too. Spiritueuse Double Vanille is my target, i need to buy a full bottle of it someday! I just love that woody spicy liquer vanilla
For cherry – Serge Lutens Louve? Was sniffing that one again over the weekend, and my daughter immediately picked up on the cherry. Although the rest of it is almond-heliotropin, not boozy… never mind.
that’s what layering is for…. 😉
Mals & Rick: I have not tried Louve, but SL Rahat Loukhoum sounds almost identical. To me it has that almond extract-cherry scent (funny that almond extract and cherry are somehow linked odor-wise). Rick, it sounds like the type of thing you’re looking for, perhaps. I quite like it once in awhile.
Have you tried Luctor et Emergo yet? It has a pronounced cherry-almond note, with a benzoin or camphor tinge. I also thought of Chopard Madness, like dried fruits stewed in wine or cognac.
Serge Rahat Loukhoum!
Robin, I have already owned a bottle of rahat loukhoum. It had a delicious cherry almond scent on the bottle, but on my skin it turned on a sour almond rose scent =/ Besides that, It was the first fragrance that gave me a strong allergic reaction. I had to sell it 🙁
Woops. Hadn’t seen these comments before mentioning Rahat Loukhoum. Too bad it didn’t work for you, Rick.
Oh dear! Never mind then.
Actually they all sound pretty nice to me. And as I understand it, organic sources can be used to generate single molecule (or isomer blend) aroma chemicals, so organic perfume doesn’t just have to be a slurry of essential oils.Chammomile/rose and lime/basil/bourbon/ginger sound right up my alley.
Actually I love lime and booze together. Rickbr had a great idea. Does anyone have any suggestions for lime/booze or my holy grail, a cola or Cuba Libre scent?
Ack. I had a lime + booze in my head and it disappeared while typing. Will be back later if it comes to me.
Guerlain Homme is supposed to be like a mojito, so that should qualify but it isn’t massively boozey.
PdN Vanille Tonka! Like adding a couple of hefty lime slices to a Vanilla Coke with Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum – not *exactly* what you asked for, but close. It’s got a fizzy, sparkly character to it. More lime-spice than vanilla, IMO. I love it.
I hear Lubin’s (reissued) Gin Fizz is a lime-booze thing, the booze being gin, natch.
Mals, this vanille tonka looks very yummy. I’ve never thought of the boozy lime combination, but it looks something fresh and yummy, i’d probably love it.
Oooh! I wouldn’t have guessed that something with Vanilla in the name could be sparkling, but this sounds wonderful!
Ooh, second the Vanille Tonka! Gucci Eau de Parfum II also has a nice gin-and-tonic-with-lime opening, or Hermes, Eau des merveilles for something more unisex.
Count me as another who’s relieved to not be lemming. I don’t do oils, and even if I did, I wouldn’t pay $65 for a 12 ml roll on.
you got that right! Don’t the bottles remind you of fingernail polish?
Aha! Yes, that’s it! Nail polish! Delux brand nail polish, to be exact.
I don’t usually do oils either.
What i didn’t like about oils is that they take a longer time to be absorbed by the skin, and during this time you can snot your clothes or objects with oil. But after they are absorved, the provide in general with a long lasting scent, close to skin tha won’t disturb anyone.
I’ve sometime ordered a fragrance oil spray. It was a copy of the tobacco vanille. Very lovely, it was more creamy vanilla with just a touch of the dry and woody aspect of the tobacco. And had a great sillage on skin. It was one of the best oils that i’ve ever used
I generally prefer alcohol based sprays as I tend to be all about the top notes, but I am enjoying the heck out of Yosh Han’s Studio 54 for 826LA. It’s the first oil I’ve encountered that I would describe as “bright”. It’s great layered with other citrus scents.
I also received a sample of Smell Bent’s debonaire that was a nice relative of Habit Rouge. And their Blimey Limey goes through several different phases which I found entertaining. So oils are growing on me.
I’m hooked on Monyette and Body Time’s Egyptian Musk oil, and even tried the Monyette Paris edp in the hopes that it would be similar enough for me to give up on the oil. It wasn’t quite the same, so despite my general neutral feelings toward perfume oils, I do own a few scents just because it happens to be the best form for the fragrance. This is less than practical on a humid summer afternoon, however, which I suppose works out well given some of the strength behind some of my faves.
Perfumed Wine Rosé sounds delightful, and for the price I might be willing to give it a go.
I would agree with that: I love BT Egyptian Musk, and can’t imagine it in any other format.
I’m not a fan of oils, but the notes on White Magik sound intriguing. Angelica! Sage! However, angelica and sage together with the unspecified “white flowers” could be a mess.
Hard to say! I’m not a huge angelica fan anyway…
These sound nice to me – but very pricey!
The price isn’t cheap, but for natural it’s not bad.
For someone who used hippie scented oils for years before becoming addicted to perfume, these have a sort of nostalgia that most certainly calls my name! If only the lemon one didn’t have a sweet note! I would love to find a lemon-tinged perfume that had no sweetness, but something that smells like lemon and a dark green tea. (like a gunpowder green.)
Anyway, I’m in Switzerland for the next 7 months anyway so I won’t getting anywhere near these. I *am* having a blast with the different lines that are available even in the small city I live in here – Roger & Gallet is available in Coop City (a lower end department store from what I can tell) and there’s a Yves Rocher a block off from my bus stop in the center of Neuchatel.
Nice! I miss the Yves Rocher than used to be near me — it closed a couple years ago.
