Histoires de Parfums has launched 1889 Moulin Rouge, a new perfume named for the opening year of the Moulin Rouge in Paris, and one of a number of items introduced in France last year to celebrate the cabaret's 120th anniversary.
1889 Moulin Rouge celebrates a passionate, free woman, and features notes of mandarin, plum, cinnamon, absinthe, rose, iris, patchouli, musk, vanilla and leather.
Histoires de Parfums 1889 Moulin Rouge is available in 120 ml Eau de Parfum, or in a travel set of three 14 ml bottles. (via janedeboy, extrait.it, fashionmag.fr, aufeminin.com)
Oh no! I have to try this! Love all things Paris, all things Toulouse-Lautrec, all things Art Nouveau, and Moulin Rouge was one of my favorite movies (I know, I know, most people hate it). Plus HdP scents are awesome…
I’d like to try it too. Great packaging.
Karin – I’m another fan of Moulin Rouge! I thought it was visually stunning and loved the music. I like Baz’s movies in general.
Fortunately this one is not reeling me in – I have a problematic relationship with plum, especially in combination with spice, and absinthe is not a note I like at all. Phew! That’s one lemming less to worry about this year…
It really sounds like an unusual combination of notes…can’t really “picture” it.
I think I’d have to go to the Moulin Rouge to make sure, you know, the scent really worked 😉
Works for me 🙂
the trip would be for purely scientific purposes, clearly!
Of course! Maybe I can take a tax deduction!
Just pinged Lisa over at Beauty Cafe, and she says they’re expecting delivery of it in February. 🙂
Great, thanks!
UMMMH!Cinnamon and absinthe together…must try this !xx
I can’t decide if that sounds wonderful or horrid…I want to try it too though!
Definitely something I need to try. I already love Mata Hari.
Hope this one is as nice!
Was very excited at first….then I caught that plum mention…hmmm…but still it’s so hard to tell from a list of notes, maybe I won’t get plum at all. I will definitely be looking for a sample of this.
You never can tell.
They’ve got me again! I have to try this both for the fragrance and the theme. I have a feeling HdP’s going to take a bite out of my fragrance budget this year, and likely more than once. Plum, absinthe, cinnamon and leather? Rawr! 🙂
I’m very hopeful about the tuberoses, and hope this one will be a winner too.
Histoires de Parfums has been totally off my radar. Not that I need anything to new to buy, but are they worth checking out?
I do think they’re worth trying, and they sell a sample set which isn’t too expensive. The only one I love is the Colette, but also think the Noir Patchouli is really nice.
I did look at the sample set, and the Colette was the only one that looked exciting. Well, maybe if I have some time where there’s nothing else I want to try…
I love Collette also! I’ve tried a few Histoires de Parfums and Collette doesn’t get as much attention on the boards but it’s my favorite. I also like 1740 Marquis de Sade.
I’ll definitely try this…could be strange and wonderful with all those strong notes…or a hot mess. I also want to try the three HdP tuberoses…
Me too!
HdP sampling really hasn’t grabbed me, though I’m definitely getting a bit of that Tuberose L’Animal to try. This one definitely sounds odd enough to pique curiosity — due to the notes, not the MR concept. Quite a hodgepodge of notes… many of which I like, but not sure how they’ll combine.
If you beat me to the Tuberose (and you probably will) do report back!
Commenter Melissa is hosting a split and I have some of the Tuberose L’Animale on the way. I’ll let you know!
The loveliest and most inspired bottles and packaging of all the niche houses! I tried 1828 Jules Verne, and it evokes exactly the adventure spirit of a scentific man – sexy by its generous spirit and genius. It is the most masculine fragrance I tried until now.
Nice 🙂
