L'Occitane has launched a new range, Voyage en Méditerranée*, with two new fragrances, Labdanum de Séville and Mimosa de L'Estérel:
Labdanum de Séville ~ a "sensual" unisex fragrance with citrus, spices, labdanum, benzoin and vanilla.
Mimosa de L'Estérel ~ a soft, powdery feminine floral based on mimosa from the Esterel hills of Provence. Additional notes include violet leaf and almond.
L'Occitane Labdanum de Séville and Mimosa de L'Estérel are available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum, 55€ each, or in the coffret shown below, Valisette Voyage en Méditerranée, which also includes Notre Flore Jasmin; three 7.5 miniatures, 21€. (via fr1.loccitane, cosmeticsinternational)
* It is hard to tell, but possibly they have simply renamed the existing Notre Flore line.
Hmmmm…
There will be a short detour on my way home via the L’Occitane store to try that Labdanum.
I don’t know that they’re anywhere but France yet.
no problem!
Just a slightly longer detour!
LOL! Way to keep that positive attitude. 🙂
LOL!
they should be available here–I am on their mailing list and received a flyer on them a few days ago.
Oh good, thanks!
Damn it!
I was looking foward to a detour through Paris–for a week or 2 (would have taken me that long to….. “locate” the L’Occitane store)
I asked at my local store yesterday and was told that they won’t be out in the US until October 28. Not long to wait!
Me too, the Labdanum looks interesting to me.
Ooooh – that labdanum sounds good! And even the mimosa sounds pretty…. darn it there is no L’occitane anywhere near me!
Not a huge fan of either labdanum or mimosa, and for that matter didn’t love the Notre Flore scents I should have loved, like jasmine. So I’m probably safe!
I’m with you on the labdanum, mmm. But not a particular fan of either mimosa or jasmine, so the coffret is out. Pout.
Never mind these, my wallet is kind of spoken for – I really liked Natori, and am still waiting to try Havane Vanille. And I’m eyeing some vtg Emeraude parfum again… I don’t know why I feel such a need to “rescue” it from pagans. Although if people are willing to pay serious money for it, then I suppose they know what a treasure it is and they’re not, actually, pagans. (New philosophy: rescue Emeraude parfum if it’s going for a song, and otherwise, don’t worry…)
Gosh, OFF TOPIC MUCH, Mals?
LOL, I just thought it was a hint to me! I still need to get on there on buy those! I’ve been sick since yesterday, and have been asleep every chance I get. I guess there’s no rest for the wicked, I need to go buy those before you get them!
LOL…I love the sentiment there. Always buy Emeraude when nobody else wants it 😉
Come visit me and hit the l’O at the mega-mall. There’s one SA who always looks really bored and lonely and is so happy to see anyone come in, he’s good with whatever samples he has. 😀
B – I’ll rely on you then to report back with details on the fragrances!
Sounds like the same L’Occitane store i go to. 🙂 [ Isn’t that coffret the cutest thing?! ]
It IS cute. I’d rather it contained the citrus verbena and bergamot tea, though. 😀 I really do think they don’t get much traffic…I went in once and talked to the SA briefly. Went back probably a FULL YEAR later…and he recognized me. LOL!
That little suitcase-styled box has just about pushed me over the edge. I do hope the US L’Occitane shops carry this, so that I can at least resist ordering unsniffed and unseen. . .
It’s darned cute…want to see it in person.
I saw these announced somewhere the other day. Comments:
a) Reminding me how much I love and want Le Labo Labdanum.
b) I’m starting to love Mimosa lately due to Farnesiana.
c) due to a&b, I’m hoping they put these out in the 10ml vials like they originally did with the original three Notre Flor*
d) *Yes, I’m pretty sure these aren’t called Notre Flor anymore
e) I think I liked the original cap better, but no big deal either way since I’m not buying any bottles. 🙂
It is odd — if you go to the French L’Occitane site and click on the Voyage collection, you see the 2 new scents but also all of original Notre Flore scents, and those bottles still say Notre Flore on them — but there’s no longer any mention of the “Notre Flore” collection. So would guess that yes, they’re renaming them.
Good to know I’m not the *only* mimosa fan out there. Labdanum, otoh, is not a note I can identify as of yet. I’m long, LONG overdue for a mall sniffing trip, but it won’t happen this week. Too busy! Our l’O is right outside Nordstrom, so I might swing by if my nose isn’t tired. 😉
You probably know labdanum better than you think– it’s the main component of most amber accords.
I was going to say the same thing Robin did about “amber” — normally it’s a combo of notes including labdanum. Ladbanum and sandalwood are my fav woods though.
And I love a good mimosa!!!
Did you ever try the Givenchy Amarige 2007 harvest mimosa? I caved and got that one off the evil auction site, and it’s currently on its way from the UK. 🙂
Yessss and I haven’t worn it in ages – will have to correct that today!
Sorry to butt in but I thought it was a resin from Cistus labdanum – not a wood. I love it, whatever!
It is a resin, but it’s often classified as a woody note, just as patchouli is — even though strictly speaking they’re not “wood”.
I like several of the L’Occitane scents, but they don’t tend to last very long on me. 🙁 I love their Bergamot Tea in the summer though – and I’m free to apply liberally and often.
I will most likely hit the L’Occitane store to check them out when they hit the U.S. – that little suitcase coffret is calling my name.
Hope that suitcase is as cute as it looks! But wish L’Occitane would start selling more things individually in travel sizes. The original Notre Flore roll ons sold out very quickly, and then they had those not-very-cheap refillable travel spray sets.
Agree on the travel sizes…I’d buy so much more that way. Guess it’s good for my budget that they (all “they”, not just l’O) don’t.
Cynthia, I know – that Bergamot Tea was the best on a muggy day. It is a shame about the staying power AND I want that adorable coffret too!! [Since I just purchased a ‘buy it now’ vintage, sealed, Mitsouko pure perfume from the ‘Bay, I won’t be obtaining any adorable coffrets anytime soon though!]
I’d say that’s a fair trade. My perfume buying days may be on hold for awhile – first of all, I need to sniff/wear everything that I already have. Secondly, I’ve fallen in lust with the new Barnes and Noble ebook reader and I must have it – the $300 price tag will put a serious dent in my perfume budget!
Now now…who are you kidding? Isn’t that just a 1-month delay for you? 😀
bwahaha – at the rate I’m going, yes, it would just be a one month break. But then, there would be the books that I’d need to buy, etc. etc. I’m sure that you’re right and it won’t slow me down, but I need to pretend for right now. 😉
Ah, I feel a short trip to the l’Occitane store in town coming up for me as well :-). Hope they carry that cute suitcase. Also a good excuse to stock up on creme caramel candles.
Yay, my first post here :-). Already reading along for a while now. Love your reviews, news, comments… well, pretty much everything!
Hi & welcome! Do report back if you find the suitcase. And hey, I didn’t know they had creme caramel candles, I’ll have to look for those!
Thanks Robin! Yes, the Crème Caramel Candles smell sooo good. I am in Holland, but the US website says it’s a limited edition, so perhaps I have to stock up… Grrr, I hate when they do that discontinuation thing…
Thanks for the warning — I’ll look for them next I’m at the mall!
Hi Annalena! Thanks for the info about those candles. They sound yummy!
I coincedentally just visited a L’Occitane store on Saturday in Northern California and they didn’t have any mention of une voyage in the mediterranee, but they still carried the complete Notre Flore stock including those compass-shaped dispensers for 10ml bottles of the Notre Flore. I almost bought the Myrte (Myrtle) just because I had a feeling they’d be phasing these out and I’ve never seen Myrtle as a dominant note before.
I would have bought some of the NFs if they were available cheaply in 10 ml…but not as one of those sets. Too expensive for me!
Except when they were on clearance…dirt cheap then. I’m surprised they’re still in stores, that was awhile ago.
I missed those, of course!
I’m in Germany for the year and I just saw the new signs up for this walking around today. Will try, when I get my sense of smell back! Damn this cold!
Oh, get better soon!
I like the look of the cofret!
L’Occitane is one of my favourite brands but out of their perfume offerings, I only really like the limited edition Rose Nuit de Mai. I do like the idea of a Mediterranean line of fragrances though I am sure it has been done before! Somehow I think of lemons and oranges when I read the word ‘Mediterranean’, then immediately after that I think of blue sea and salty spray. I will make sure to try these when the arrive. 🙂
Well — they’ve done it before — that was the whole point of the Notre Flore collection. This is a better name though, I think.
These new ones aren’t on the UK site yet. Must get to Bluewater and see if they’re in the store there. The Labdanum sounds interesting. I just wish they wouldn’t discontinue their lines so frequently; I get to like something and then it’s gone. I loved the original Neroli, but the new Notre Flor version isn’t the same.
Yeah, they don’t keep scents around so long as some other lines, it’s true.
I keep wanting to like L’Occitane more than i actually do. On me, their fragrances don’t really last, or flop over, sour and dead, and cling like cat hair. And they aren’t inexpensive enough so I just have fun with the experience or packaging. But hey, it’s close and next to See’s!
Yeah. I liked them better back when the prices were lower. They’ve upscaled themselves over the past few years.
See’s!! Yum! 🙂
I really like Labdanum de Séville. What I don’t like is L’Occitane– at least not their American outlets. Every time I’ve ever visited, I find myself confronted by an overaggressive sales associate who follows me around chanting memorized sales pitches and asking way too many questions. If I have a question, I’ll ask it– otherwise, I like to shop quietly, without intrusion. If L’Occitane let its product line speak for itself rather than training its associates to behave like car salesmen, I might actually buy in.
