Cuuute!
Wow, Violet Tendencies sounds really good. I don’t know about oils, though…. Has anyone tried this line yet?
I am still working my way through a sample set…
I want to meet these people.
OK, they got me. Violet Tendencies is on it’s way. $20 — that’s less than free, right?
LOL — that was easy! Do let us know how it is.
Aaargh… this just reminded me that I wanted to order samples from this line. Plus, I’m always a sucker for limited editions.
I’m the opposite: limited editions bug me! But some of these do sound tempting.
Well, they bug me because I feel like I need to try them *right now* before they go away. I guess I should look at it like I don’t need to try them at all because they’re going to go away.
Yes, exactly!
Cute, cute, cute! Not sure any of these really ring my chimes, but I’ve fallen hard for the cute names and concept. Lucy Fur? Hilarious! What fun it would be to tell anyone who asked what you were wearing…..then waiting, all excited, to see how long it took them to ‘get’ it. 🙂
Violet Tendencies is an awesome name…if nothing else, Smell Bent should be consulting in the perfume-naming business!
Seeing this “company” here completely nullifies the validity of future blog entries on Now Smell This as far as I’m concerned. I first found this “company” on LiveJournal, and was skeptical from the start. In his own words, this “perfumer” has only been dabbling in perfume for months, and yet felt as though it was fine to go ahead and sell his dabblings to the public, including an absurd $200 charge for a custom scent. There is no way that this person deserves to be mentioned on a blog that features legitimate perfumers like Serge Lutens, Olivia Giacobetti, and Bertrand Duchaufour. I’m not going to shell out my hard earned money to someone that is obviously unqualified to make perfume and is just capitalizing on the current small-house niche perfume craze, and I would expect that the bloggers at NST would be at least somewhat interested in protecting their readers from this sort of thing.
Now Smell This, I’m disappointed in you.
Not sure what to say except that any regular reader here knows that we announce all sorts of things…in fact, we try to announce *everything* but we obviously don’t manage that because after all, we must do other things, like eat and sleep, on occasion. But certainly, a scent does not need to be by Serge Lutens or Olivia Giacobetti to get announced here, and I don’t see the function of fragrance announcements as involving in any way the protection of readers; if that disappoints you, so be it.
I think this is a fun lark of a line. I appreciate your serious interest in perfume. I take a much more catholic approach to all things sniffy. So, thanks to Robin for posting this!
Well this blog is for all sorts of perfume lovers and there are some of us, that would love to hear what this line has to offer. Obviously you wanted to read it, otherwise you could have just bypassed it 🙂
Oh, these are the guys that did those wacky things like Blimey Limey and Commando, right? Hilarious. I still find these funny. Violet Tendencies is a really, really terrific name.
(And I still find ELd’O too pretentious for words.)
Yep, same! It really is a great name.
Well, this is the second post about these sooo, i guess i’ll try them! i let you know what i think!
Do!
I really love the concepts and drawings these guys have come up with, but, sorry to say, was disappointed with the samples I ordered – didn’t really like any of them. Shame because I’d like to support such a fun and off-beat venture. Has anyone else who’s tried them got any feedback? Would like to hear what others think…
Glad to hear some feedback, thanks! Hope someone else will chime in.
