UK-based natural skincare brand Liz Earle will launch Botanical Essence No. 1, the line's first fragrance, next month. Botanical Essence No. 1 is reportedly 98% natural, and was inspired by the line's Instant Boost Skin Tonic.
Botanical Essence No. 1 was developed by perfumer Jean Charles Niel; the notes feature bergamot, mandarin, bitter orange, lemon, cardamom, rose absolute, lavender, geranium, coriander, nutmeg, cedar, vetiver, tonka bean and patchouli.
Liz Earle Botanical Essence No. 1 will be available in Eau de Parfum, size unknown, £39.50. (via cosmeticsbusiness, cosmeticsinternational)
If alcohol counts as “natural,” getting to 98% natural isn’t hard to crack.
Pretty sure that’s not what they mean.
I’m sure it isn’t, but it’s my own crankiness kicking in there. =) So many new perfumes coming in…I can’t bring myself to care as much anymore whenever I hear about a new release.
Understandable!
This sounds like a fun fragrance! I know with the natural notes, it won’t last long but it’s got all I love & adore. There are so many interesting frags this year that I’m having trouble being good!
Yesterday, I had fun at Neiman Markups trying all sorts of new scents that have been released…. can’t wait for open Thursday posts.
Ooooh exciting! a sniffy trip—can’t wait to hear what all you sniffed and what was the best. hopefully thursday will have an open post…***hint hint hint***
Ok, ok…
I use and love Instant Boost Skin Tonic. It’s a soft, powdery floral, just the perfect thing for a toner. As a fragrance…hmm… would have to sniff.
Don’t think I’ll get a chance to sniff, but sounds nice !
So far every “natural” fragrance I’ve tried has been a disappointment. Both in smell (some of them are just so ODD) and longevity (which I should be grateful for bad smells that fade quickly, ack) So I’m not eager to try this but would love to hear from anyone who does.
Ditto. Love the packaging on this though!
Yes, it’s a nice classic bottle.
Yes, I’d be interested in other people’s experiences wiht naturals too. I’ve just bought Mystra, by Aesop (Australain niche brand), which claims I think to be all natural. Mastic, fankincense, and labdanum. I got the EDT and it lasts less than an hour. I’ve been having fun experimenting with layering tho’, and have layered SJP’s Lovely over Mystra. A great combination which restores to Lovely more of the dark heart that SJP apparently wanted for it when she started out. I’ve found that if I spray Lovely directly over Mystra it fixes the Mystra on the skin for longer. The synthetics in Lovely must do their work for Mystra too.
Cool! It sounds like you ended up getting the best of both. 🙂
Sounds like a nice combo!
Ooh, I’m going to have to try that! Good idea!
worth a try. I know at the very least natural patchouli oil lasts for a very long time..
Yes, it really does!
Yes it sure does! A college room mate wore patchouli oil, many months after we left University, my clothes & furniture still “radiated” the scent, and I like patchouli!
Tried a sample of this today! This is what it smells like:
Topnotes – smells exactly like topnotes of Clarins Eau Dynamisante.
Moves through a Carven Ma Griffe phase – green and herby.
Ends up very much like Lancome’s O De Lancome but to my nose nicer and more wearable than that (?because no basil).
It’s lasting but light, very wearable and I think it would be good at any time of year.
Thanks for the detailed review! Sounds worth checking out.
