Opus Oils has introduced Dirty Sexy Wilde:
A historic fragrance with a modern twist. Inspired by (Old) Handkerchief Perfume formulas from the turn of the century. Rich, Animalic, Elegant, Earthy and Deeply Sexy! Developed to compliment our new upcoming class “Animalic Instincts.” (Class explores Animalic notes and their unique effect on a fragrant blend.)
Fragrance notes include galbanum, red mandarin, violet, rose, night jasmine, blond tobacco, oakmoss, coumarin, musk, civet and ambergris.
Opus Oils Dirty Sexy Wilde is available in 15 ml Parfum, 60 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching bath & body products. (via press release)
It is a bit “wild” to go with Oscar Wilde as the face of this scent. Elegant, Earthy, Deeply Sexy…Pervert? (Or so they called him at the time.)
Not as wild as the Charlie Manson perfume in their last collection, but hey 😉
Are they trying to make a nod to mouchoir de monsieur with the old handkerchief scents? Regardless, it sounds pretty interesting.
Sort of doubt it, but who knows…
I love that the portrait in the background is all decrepit like Dorain Gray’s. I want to try this one – I can tell a new Opus sample order is in the near future. They are a very fun line.
Bigger picture on their website…
Sounds kind of good to me; I’ve been really getting into animalic smells lately (ones that stop short of Musc Kublai Khan). I’ve never tried this line though; it’s pricier than I expected.
The scents are pretty concentrated – I have only sampled the oils because I do well with them. They last a pretty long time, so I have never really thought of them as that pricey compared to some other stuff.
They’re not trying to cash in on the release of the new adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray. No, ‘course not. LOL!
I’m so out of it I didn’t even know there was a new adaptation. Boy, they’ve made that movie quite a few times by now…
Oh, too many! And most of them quite bad. How do you recreate the sulphurous atmosphere of that book?
Anyway, this one is by Oliver Parker (who directed that hilarious Importance of Being Earnest, and An Ideal Husband), with someone I don’t know called Ben Barnes as Dorian Gray, the girl from Perfume (haven’t seen it), Colin Firth, the wonderful Rebecca Hall, and Jeremy Iron’s son Max (whom I remember seeing as a little boy, years ago, at a press night. Just because Oliver Parker has had such a long experience filming Oscar Wilde’s stuff, it should be interesting – at least.
I liked that Earnest. IIRC, I liked Ideal Husband too, just not quite so well. Sounds like this will be worth seeing, thanks!
Ben Barnes was Prince Caspian.
Thanks!
I wasn’t terribly impressed with the samples I ordered from Opus’s Afraid of the Dark line, but am willing to give this a shot. They really do have an affordable and generous sample program, and are great about correspondence and shipping.
I wonder if this next Oscar Wilde film interpretation will get reviews that support at least a rental when it comes out? Though none can touch the perfection of that novel. I truly enjoy OW’s work. 🙂
I have not read Dorian Gray in years — should do that before the movie comes out. Although then it always ruins the movie, doesn’t it?
