Ineke will launch Field Notes from Paris, the line's sixth fragrance, this coming September:
Field Notes from Paris is inspired by Ineke’s halcyon days studying perfumery in Paris and Versailles. It captures the romantic, nostalgic feeling of sitting at a café and writing in a journal while lingering for hours over a cafe crème.
This “woody oriental” structure combines the warmth of tobacco flower and leaf with the vintage perfumery notes of coriander seed, patchouli and tonka bean. Field Notes from Paris is an enigmatic scent with a warm, comforting presence.
Additional fragrance notes include orange blossom, bergamot, cedar, leather, beeswax and vanilla.
Ineke Field Notes from Paris will be available in 75 ml Eau de Parfum. If you have purchased the Deluxe Sample Collection Volume 2 from Ineke, a sample of Field Notes from Paris will be sent to you at the time of its release. (via press release)
Update: see a review of Ineke Field Notes from Paris.
Oooh, those bottles ar so neat.
It’s a really great bottle.
I agree—nice bottles. I love the sound of this one….completely pushed thoughts of the newest Mercier right out of my head! Must look into ordering some samples. Although I’m crossing my fingers that the patchouli listed is a tamed creature….sometimes patch goes wild and woolly on my skin….turns into moldy hay—not good. I only like domesticated, house-broken patch.
We’ll have to wait & see!
Oh, those notes sound really nice. I wonder if it would be unbearably sweet? I’m afraid that orange blossom has made me its bitch.
I would not think unbearably sweet would be Ineke’s style, but who knows.
I’ve never heard of the line, but that’s a good thing to know. There’s a local retailer who carries it, so I’ll see if I can check out the existing scents some day soon.
Love the bottle, love the notes (tobacco flower AND leaf!), but … I’m afraid of coriander 😀
Oh, one of my favorite notes! We’ll have to hope it isn’t too strong.
Yep, add me to the list of droolers, provided the patch isn’t too heavy. Those bottles are gorgeous, too.
two votes for house-broken patchouli!
Add my name to that list! I smell like Deep Woods Off if it’s too close to straight-up patchouli.
LOL!
I have to admit the copy gets me on this one. The “romantic, nostalgic” feeling of lingering in a cafe with a journal? Yes, I want that! I love the bottles too.
It does sound very appealing!
Hi Robin.
I just smelled a terrible fragrance called Quelques Fleurs L’Original, by Houbigant. Very heavy on some type of lily. Do you know it? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this nasty odor, er – fragrance. Thank you!
Gosh, it isn’t my style but never found it at all horrible. I would not be surprised if it’s been reformulated recently though.
Interestingly, my mom was given a bottle of Quelques Fleurs as a gift and she didn’t like it at all. We ended up selling it on eBay for a LOT … apparently somebody likes it!
I know several people who loved it at one time, so yes, it had fans! Don’t hear about it so much these days.
Add me to the people who love the bottle and I’m always a sucker for a good oriental, so I’ll definitely add it to my “to sniff” list. (which gets longer every day)
Ooh … I just looked at the deluxe sample set and, while it is $25, if you buy a FB, you get a $25 credit towards it. And it’s “only” $88 for a 2.5 oz bottle.
What a nice hook, eh? Bet it works like a charm….well, it worked like a charm on me ! 😉
Yes, the sample sets are a good deal, and if you buy one now they’ll send you the new one later in the year.
Great bottle, definitely. And, sounds wonderful, but …. I am so, so, so, damn sick of vanilla.
hi Hereitcomesagain. I’m in complete agreement with you! So does that mean you are anti Shalimar? That would be me. What do you find is your “go-to” scent these days? I’m reaching for my old bottles of Cinema and Champs Elysees and Light. Would love your thoughts. Thanks. I’m a bit of a nyophyte trying to make inroads, lol.
Well, as Robin says, it is in everything, so what can you do? Can’t remember Shalimar at the moment, but don’t remember it as a like. Warning that I think I’m older than others here, so YMMV.
I love soft and sandalwood, so I especially love Ivoire de Balmain. Lately I’m reaching for the Caron Montaigne and Isabella Rosellni Manifesto more often than anything.
Bought some Demeters for fun and for giving to friends recently. Will probably wear the gingerale.
Forgot to add the horror movie scream sound effect that goes with above comment.
LOL! But you’re in trouble…there’s vanilla in almost everything!
I don’t know anything about Ineke, but this does sound good. I’m a sucker for romance, though, so the idea of lingering in a Parisian cafe for *any* reason is a good way to bait the hook. 🙂
Yep!
To all who are worried about the overkill of anything: Patchouli, Vanilla or Orange Blossom, I can say: Trust! Take Heart! Anyone but Ineke would maybe mess up something that sounds as lovely… but Ineke has NEVER done a perfume in a way that one might expect. In fact quite the opposite. I find her stuff challenging and stimulating and shocking and original, even if I wouldn’t dare to wear all her creations…
Trust, and take heart… Having smelled her prior works, well… she is a master, and could potentially be a genius, and extends herself a little further with every new addition to her collection. This one smells to me (I haven’t actually tried it yet) like it might just be Genius! (Oh and the bottles are to die for!)
Interesting. I have no, so far, found her scents particularly challenging, although they’re certainly pretty.
Andy Tauer just posted some very nice comments about this scent on his blog, so I’m feeling very hopeful! Love that bottle.
It’s a perfect bottle.
Just received my sample in the mail! At first sniff, I was very disappointed- overwhelming patch, with a heavy, musky base. I almost scrubbed it off, but I’m glad I didn’t!
The scent mellows out into a warmer, smoother, tamer creature within 15 min. Now the bergamot and woods take the lead (and could it be tea?), on top of a base that’s very similar to “Balmy Days.” Very nice for the cooler weather.
I’m liking the scent more by the minute- can’t wait to smell its full progression!
I liked the dry down much better than the opening too! Reminds me of some liqueur.
LEATHER!!! Leather! Leather! Leather!
