Washington Tremlett has launched two new fragrances, Iris Absolute and Neroli Absolute; both feature Swarovski crystals inside the bottle to "play a glittering and enticing game that makes this trendy, yet glamorous perfume truly unique".
Iris Absolute (shown) ~ "The sensuality of this soft, powdery essence entices with elegant notes of Bulgarian rose and lush, seductive jasmine, that melt into a heart of rare and precious iris absolu, playful heliotrope and lily of the valley. The rich base of white musk, vanilla and tonka beans lend the fragrance a mesmerizing femininity."
Neroli Absolute ~ "A gentle, warm Mediterranean touch starts with fresh notes of Italian lemon, warm Petitgrain from Paraguay and aromatic tones of rosemary from Tuscany. The heart is a floral bouquet of precious Neroli Absolu (orange blossom) from Tunisia and sensuous Ylang-Ylang from Madagascar complimented by an extremely sensual base of white musk and vanilla."
Washington Tremlett Iris Absolute and Neroli Absolute are available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum for 140€; they can be found now at First in Fragrance in Germany.
What they say: Swarovski crystals inside the bottle to “play a glittering and enticing game that makes this trendy, yet glamorous perfume truly unique”
What they mean: We've added BLING so that, like a magpie, you notice these among the 137 other trendy, yet glamorous iris & neroli soliflores on the market.
Whatever works.
You know, the fragrance industry is really keeping the folks over at Swarovski busy lately, no? I don't think crystals qualify as unique at this point. Oh well, WT has done a pretty good job so far — better than many of these mysterious new niche lines.
Okay, put crystals in the bottle. But why stamp the brand on the bottle and then have the name of the juice scrawled in large letters at the bottom (exactly like the box's design)? Are they trying to make sure you don't forget what it is?
Yes!
It seems like many companies are overstating the obvious. I've noticed it on tv and movies as well.
They both must be so pretty!!! I'd love to try them both! I hope that iris scent is cold and powdery, the way it appears to be in that cold-blue bottle. I also want to try that neroli – hopefully it's good too. It's funny the way neroli fragrances work for me. Once I was on a search for my perfect jasmine scent, no matter what I did, I could never find one. They were all too sweet, too direct, too cloying. Neroli Absolute doesn't list any jasmine note in it, but it's mostly neroli fragrances (usually with a jasmine heart) that are the perfect jasmine scents to my taste. I love neroli perfumes, I love the orangey-citrus opening, and the never-cloying floral heart.
everything has Swarovski crystals all over it!!!!
I do not want anything Swarovski crystallized.
I'm just going to admit right now that I am utterly seduced by the “floating crystal” thing…maybe it's my old love of snow globes reasserting itself in conjunction with my love of perfume. Whatever it is, that's stuff could smells like Miel do Bois on me and I would still want one of those bottles sitting on my dresser.
*On an entirely un-related note, I've noticed that the Burt's Bees honey lip balm smells shockingly like Miel de Bois. It's taken me a long time to get up the nerve to use something that smells like that on my lips. 🙂 *
Who the heck is Swarovski, anyway, and why are HIS crystals so special….?
aren't they like rhinestones?
My friend got a rhinestone encrusted mouse for his computer and his roommates make fun of him like everyday, I don't even want to know how they'd react if he had a Bond no 9 bottle covered in rhinestones
I love neroli too. Did you try the new Neroli Jasmine from The Body Shop? It's awfully light, unfortunately, but I didn't try it on skin.
Joe, if you must know:

You know, I liked those colored bead/stone things floating in the bottom of the early Miller et Bertaux scents. But anything like this is only special once, unfortunately, then it's just more of the same.
And I'm one of the odd ones that likes Miel de Bois, but agree, don't want it on my mouth 😉
Haha, I was putting off Googling (as if I don't fritter away enough time on 'teh innerwebz'!!!). Thanks for the link.
In the UK practically every glossy mag is currently running a campaign to have a bottle of champagne (forget which brand) emblazoned with the gift recipient's name in Swarovski crystals. It's being marketed as a truly special Xmas gift. Costing upwards of £100 I think. *Perfect* in these times of credit crunch, no?!
There's actually a Swarovski crystal shop in the city I live in. Which is a v.small city – around 300,000 people. I've never been inside and I'm wondering how long it will survive! Truly bizarre….
I used to do a lot of beading, and used the Swarovkski crystal beads from time to time. Never thought of them as a “luxury” product, so it's funny to see them used that way in the perfume world.
