Shiseido Zen has a new version? Do you have any idea of the changes?
I loved Murasaki, and wonder if they'd ever bring that back…

Hi there,
I'm new to the site. I've always worn Mysore sandalwood oil and am looking for an online retailer that sells a truly high quality sandalwood. I think it's getting harder to find good sandalwood due to the scarcity of the tree? I bought mine from a Hawaiian company, Tropicare, but can't find it in New Mexico. I'd also love suggestions for perfumes that might have a similar dark, woodsy smell without too much cloying musk or piercing florals. At heart, I am a purist.
Thanks so much! I'll have to check it out.
Yes, harder to find, and more expensive, and some perfumers now refuse to use the real stuff for ethical reasons. I'm afraid I never buy oils so I don't know a good resource for you, but you might ask on the fragrance board at MakeupAlley, they might know.
You might try Diptyque Tam Dao, Etro Sandalo, Trumper Sandalwood, Art of Shaving Sandalwood.
