The Body Shop has launched Aqua Lily, a new fragrance for women:
A delicate, blissful fresh water fragrance to uplift, exhilarate and inspire. Ideal for customers who enjoy wearing fresh, floral fragrances.
Fragrance notes include green apple, watermelon, dewy bamboo, tangerine, pink pepper, muguet, lily, rose, violet, reseda, cedarwood and musk…
Apparently, it mixes Mediterranean herbs and fruits such as Bergamot orange and white tea with base notes from the Orient, which come together to produced [sic] an aroma of "confidence, equality, progress and efficiency".
Oddly, it also smells a little like air freshener. One journalist at the press conference said the smell was so strong that he was practically overwhelmed and left feeling faint.

When I first smelled Jean Patou Joy, I thought, “What’s the big deal?” Here was an iconic fragrance, reputedly the most expensive perfume in the world (this was before Clive Christian hit the scene), and Jackie O’s favorite. To me, though, Joy smelled ho-hum. Sure, it wasn’t offensive, but it didn’t excite, either.
Well, I was crazy. Now I recognize Joy for what it is: a classic, womanly, gorgeously balanced scent. It is the olfactory equivalent of a 1950s Dior dinner suit — flattering, adaptable, and luxurious down to its hand-basted seams.

Laura Mercier has added a sixth fragrance to the Eau Gourmande collection (you can see the first five here). Violette “is a delicate & sophisticated fragrance that is inspired by the delicate violet flower”, and can be worn alone or layered with other bath & body products in the Eau Gourmande collection.
The fragrance notes include violet leaves, black currant, mimosa, peony, vetiver, musk and raspberry…
Registration has begun for the Spring 2008 session of the Natural Perfumery course offered online by Anya McCoy of Anya's Garden.
The course is one year long, and classes begin on March 6.
