Swedish direct-sales cosmetics firm Oriflame, which appears to operate just about everywhere except the United States, is introducing a new range of gemstone-inspired fragrances "not marketed on the pull of fast moving celebrities, but on the role [of] the perfumer behind the scent".
The first entry in the Gem Collection is Amethyst Fatale, created by perfumer Jean Jacques.
The amethyst – mystical and captivating – mirrors the age-old link between feminine mystery and sensuality. With Amethyst Fatale that link is re-interpreted as a seductive chypre fragrance with a modern twist.
Amethyst Fatale is pure fragrance intoxication. Combining warm amber notes with powdery iris and lush rose, this unpredictable scent refuses to be forgotten.
Oriflame Amethyst Fatale Eau de Parfum will debut in October. (first quote via cosmeticsdesign, second via oriflame)
When I was a teenager, I had a friend whose mother had access to Oriflame products. They seemed like the height of sophistication to me! I assume they're a bit like Yves Rocher? Anyway, when I read the blurb above, the words that stuck in my mind from the last line were 'predictable' , refuses' and 'forgotten'. Marketing is such a delicate operation, LOL.
Honestly, I had heard the name Oriflame before but didn't know what/who they were. But any company marketing on the name of a perfumer instead of a celebrity is halfway into my affections already — so I didn't even notice the ad copy, LOL…
Oriflame is well established here (Slovakia). They have great quality skincare. My mother used their products for the last 15 years and looks fantastic.
Their scents are usually nice, if not very original (better than Avon scents) and some of them are knockoffs. So far I know of Tresor, Addict, Un Jardin sur le Nil and Les Belles de Ricci Liberty Fizz knockoffs.
That bottle above – doesn`t it remind you of Armani Code bottle? (I never tried Code, so I don`t know if Amethyst Fatale sounds similar.)
The bottle is really pretty (it does remind me of Armani Code, now that you say that) it looks compact and like something you could actually just toss in your bag and go.
Aha, so it does look like the Armani Code — but the scents themselves sound entirely different. Will be interesting to see what else they add to the series in the future, although of course I won't be trying any of them anyway.
Don't worry about them not operating in the US, you're not losing out on anything. Pretty poor scents.
Benvenuta,
which ones are similar to JslN and LF by Ricci? My mind is at a blank right now….(the other two I know).
Aha, thanks!
Bah…some are quite decent (and their latest is good, will review it in full soon)
I like oriflame cosmetics brand. But recently I found a great make-up and perfume online store Yves Rocher
