Salvador Dali has launched Black Sun, a new fragrance for men developed by perfumer Antoine Lie:
The woody fougere has a head of basil absolute, black incense and cedar leaf, a heart of geranium, minty green rose, clary sage absolute and elemi gum, and a base of tonka bean, vanilla and vetiver.
Salvador Dali Black Sun is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (quote via cosmeticsint, additional information via dutyfreemagazine.ca)
Other recent launches from Salvador Dali: Purplelight.
Parfums Morgan will launch Love Love de Toi Glamstar in September. Like last year's Love Love de Toi Glossy, it is a collector's edition bottle of the original fruity floral Love Love de Toi fragrance released in 2005.

Have you ever tried any of the Dali fragrances? I'm often tempted by the weird bottles when I'm shopping the online discounters, but I've never heard a word about the juice inside…
I never had either, so finally managed to snag a few samples. Haven't managed to open them yet though!
I had a little bitty mini of the first women's fragrance. It smelled like fresh-cut grass to me – in a pleasant way. I have been tempted by the others but haven't read reviews either. I bought the mini while he was still alive – maybe seeing new fragrances continue to appear so many years after Dali's death has lessened my confidence. (Yes, I realize it's a licensing situation.)
I take my own self back – I just read this on the Salvator Dali Museum's site:
“Salvador Dali created several fragrances during his involvment with fashion design and advertising in the 1940's and 50's. They were produced in very limited quantities and have been reproduced in subsequent years. He designed the sculpted fragrance bottles and worked with perfume designers to create exotic and modern essences.
Some of his paintings that were the inspiration for bottle designs are ” The Apparition of a Face and Fruit Dish”,” 3 Surrealist Women on a Beach”, “Endless Enigma” and “Christmas”, an illustration featured in Vogue magazine. The Voque magazine illustrations are available for purchase as a portfolio.”
Thanks for posting, that's interesting. They do seem to be a much bigger deal overseas than they are in the US, don't know why.
Had the Pour Homme from Dali'… a million years ago…;-)
Yes they are more popular in Europe I guess than in the Us…
The Pour Homme was really nice… with a lot of tobacco if I remember correctly… and some vanilla.
It is worth a try…
Thanks, I'll have to look for it! I think the samples I have now are Dalimix & Dalissime.
Well, I have tried a couple… So.. for you to get the pic:
Laguna (Fem): Green acuatic.
Dalissime: Sweet but intriguing drydown
Dalimix: 1996´s attempt to create a CKone Competitor/clone
Le Roi Soleil Homme: The hidden gem!!! Citrus+Rosewood/Geranium drydown.
After that, I haven´t tried any from the line… I gave my brother Laguna Homme for his birthday on 2003, but I can´t remember it´s smell.
There is a new “lips” line (purplelips, rubylips, etc)
I will check this one out when they release it, as they are usually on the budget side. 😉
Dalissime is quite sweet, but gorgeous–not gourmand, not really like anything else on the market, actually, even though, if you had to, you would probably call it a fruity floral–apricot in the top note (yum), a sweet rosy middle, and ambergris and sandalwood in the base.
The original Salvador Dali is spectacular: I wore it when it first came out, and I convinced a whole bunch of friends, male and female, to wear it, too. (It was launched in a one-ounce spray for perhaps $24, so it was affordable, and the bottle was of course very desirable, that iconic nose-and-lips flacon.) It's a dark, luscious floral oriental with cedar in the base, giving it a slightly smoky, mysterious drydown.
I've tried only two of the men's Dali scents and neither of them was to my taste.
Aha — will have to see if I can find Le Roi Soleil Homme, that sounds nice!
Both of those sound worth checking out. I do wish there was a store near me with testers! Parfums Raffy does sell samples of a few of the line.
R, I purchased a sample of the first scent described above, called Salvadore by Salvadore Dali, from Scented Monkey. I am going to purchase a bottle soon (it is very reasonably priced. It is a lovely spicy oriental that I find to be pretty light – I would like to spray it to get the full effect, plus the bottle is very unique and cool. Worth checking out, imo 🙂
Thanks, I'll look for it!
all of the Salvador Dali fragrances I've tried are extremely good quality, concocted by top “noses”. They sell at low prices but I think that's due to a squeamishness for the surreality of the bottles.
Ok, swear I'm going to crack open a few SD vials this weekend…
