Parfumerie Generale has launched a new fragrance in their Private Collection range, Un Crime Exotique:
Un Crime Exotique is a gingerbread perfume like no other you have ever experienced. Blended with Chinese Osmanthus, tea, cinnamon, mate absolute and star anise, the piquantly-gourmand note acquires an unusually luxuriant depth, an almost incense-like undertone. The vanilla and sandalwood drydown is smooth, exceptionally soft, its opulence paying homage to the lush scents of the past. Breathtakingly exotic, warm and oh so elegant, if Un Crime Exotique were a color, it would be the deep gold of rich fabrics and magnificent jewels brought from far away lands.
Parfumerie Generale is available now at luckyscent in 50 ml Eau de Parfum for $105.

WOW, this sounds amazing! Near perfect in fact. Thinking maybe I wish they stuck in some cypress, too. Know any great cypress scents, R? xoxo
Haven't tried any of these, but thanks so much for the recs 🙂 I love cypress too and find it hard to believe that it may be a dull note on its own. Would love to see it done sheer, a la Giacobetti, with osmanthus, white tea, mate, orange (and/or o. blossom), cedar and a dollop of honey. Have you tried Clinique Happy for men, another great summer woody (cedar) citrus? It's got a lovely cypress note albeit a short-lived one. Another cypress scent that comes to mind is Romance Silver which is heavier on the cypress (although by no means heavy itself) and happily lives up to its name.
Wow, can they sell a fragrance–it sounds like heaven…
Here I am over a year late again, but I got this as a sample as well recently and it smells like the holidays. It's quite strong and a very spicy aromatic. I can't imagine anyone wearing this outside of the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas because by New Years Eve you have to wear something different and fresh. I didn't notice the ginger nearly as much as the clove. I put this on and immediately it was 1992, I'm in my dorm smoking a clove cigarette and waiting for the floor manager to come bang on my door to yell at me for burning incense. I noticed the cinnamon and the sandalwood but for me it was 100% clove cigarette – and that was ok by me. I even got a numbness at the tip of my tongue and an urge to smoke; something I quit years ago. Six hours later I had clove, chocolate and the faintest citrus. I really liked this.
My Husband said I smelled like Christmas.
Agree it's a holiday scent, through and through. Nice to have but not sure I'd ever drain a bottle, although I do like it.
