oh dear god, MORE cherry blossom fragrances! (ack! save my bank account! help!)
R, I haven't been able to sniff the L'Occitane version yet, but seeing this I may have to go to Sephora (and the adjacent L'Occitane) tonight.
Seriously, though, I've smelled some perfectly terrible renditions of 'cherry blossom.' It's just like green tea smell–thoroughly made up…
sorry, any time I see something like that something in me snaps and I start moving to it like a zombie…
Gave the L'Occitane a *very* quick sniff yesterday (was shopping with my son, so no time to linger) and it was pretty but much sweeter than I like, at least on a blotter. Will try to get back there and try on skin soon.
One day I hope a perfumer smells or “scans” real apple blossoms. They smell nothing like apples. They were my first floral love, and even now I'm watching the trees with anticipation. Likewise cherry blossoms are not fruity or sour. We have cherry trees, too, but I prefer to buzz around our Prairie Crab.
Our apple tree is not in bloom yet, but will try to pay attention to the smell this year 🙂
I really wish I could smell Apple & Plum blossoms for real, but alas, there are no fruit trees in my urban neighborhood. I have a vivid memory of driving through California past a lemon grove in bloom, and I will never forget how heavenly the scent was. To this day I'm obsessed with citrus perfumes.
I finally had a chance to try L'Occitane's Cherry Blossom, and found it very sweet as well, but it was so light that it wasn't cloying. Unfortunately it also disappeared from my skin within minutes – so probably not purchase-worthy for me. They may eventually add some soaps & bubble bath to the line which would be nice.
There are a whole ton of body products, see:

Wonder if the solid perfume will be longer lasting?
