While I wasn't looking, Esteban launched 8 new fragrances. I think most of these came out last year, however, none of them seem to be in the United States yet:
Esteban Ambre joins the Collection Matières (previously consisting of Cedre, Pivoine, Tonka):
In the Oriental sands, the golden glints of amber hypnotise the sun, fragrant with treasures… A delicious vanilla base shot through by a fresh hesperidean flurry of pink peppercorns.
Esteban Ambre is available in 50 ml Eau de Toilette or Eau de Parfum.
And five fragrances make up the new Collection Couleurs:
Colère d'épices ~ Spize frenzy. A breath of wind, and the sky is ablaze, enlivening each moment with spicy flavours… Explosion of fresh spices, cardamom and ginger, reinforced by a floral amber harmony set against a musky background.
Tourbillon de thé ~ Tea whirl. In a mad whirl brimming with ideas, the spirit is invigorated, the senses aroused… Harmony of tea energized by citrus fruits delicately blended with rose and jasmine, set against a musky background.
Fureur d'agrumes ~ Citrus fury. Bursting with intense feeling, gestures become more expansive, bubbling over…Fresh burst of citrus with a flash of aniseed, where the dusted floral harmony of violet and iris blossoms against a woody hint of vetiver.
Tempête de zeste ~ Peel tempest. Taken aback by the sharp crispness of a freshly-picked fruit, the body emerges from its dream, filled with energy… Surprise of a tonic snatch of grapefruit and basil, punctuated by a floral core.
Folie de figue ~ Fig craze. Beneath the bluish leaves of an age-old fig tree, carried away by passion, the heart takes leave of its senses. Gentle folly from the fig tree: fruit, leaf and bark blend together in green and woody fragrances.
The Collection Coleurs fragrances are in 50 ml Eau de Toilette.
And finally, two new fragrances join the Bath collection, which also includes Douceur Balinaise, Fraicheur Andalouse and Sensuelle Russie:
Passion Brésil ~ An original, refined feminine eau de toilette, based on a musky floral-green harmony in which an original hint of coffee flower mingles with subtle fruity notes.
Secrète Afrique (shown) ~ The fresh sparkling notes of ginger and citrus fruits blend into a cedar patchouli harmony. Colorant-free.
The bath collection fragrances are in 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (via Esteban website)
A reference to Brazil seems just perfect in a bath line. We're all crazy about bath products (brazilians usually take a shower two or three times a day).
French fragrance houses use the maddest, most flamboyant language to describe their scents, and I love it–and I particularly love these. The names (“Fureur d'agrumes”!), the demented phraseology (“In a mad whirl brimming with ideas, the spirit is invigorated, the senses aroused…”): what could better express the extravagant obsession with scent?
Hope it will make its way to Brasil then! But as I said, they haven't launched in the US yet, so far as I know.
I assume at least some of the demented phraseology is just bad translation, but you're probably right that it is also just mad & flamboyant, LOL…
Not sure if anyone will see this comment so long after the original post, but I just came across “Fureur d'agrumes” today while looking at osMoz, and it sounds great. I wondered if anyone has any impressions of it. I'm a sucker for almost anything citrus — especially grapefruit — but I'm not sure if the florals in here (especially violet) might make this a little too feminine. Curious.
Any other recommendations for “grapefruity” fragrances? I was excited at the prospect of sampling jo Malone “Grapefruit”, but I find that in no time at all on me, the citrus burst is gone and it dries down to almost pure (and strong!) woody vetiver (and I can really only handle so much vetiver).
I still have not tried any of the new Estebans, sorry!
There aren't that many grapefruits that really last, but my favorite is Parfums de Nicolai Balle de Match. Guerlain's Pamplelune also has lots of fans, but it doesn't suit me personally.
