Anya McCoy has launched her own line of natural perfumes, Anya's Garden. There are three fragrances, Riverside, Pan and Fairchild:
Riverside is an homage to the gardens of the University of California, Riverside and includes notes of pink peppercorn, citrus, Turkish rose otto, neroli blossom, petitgrains, vanilla Bourbon, Tahitian vanilla, beeswax, distilled soil (mitti), Vanuatu sandalwood, tonka bean and musk seed.
Pan is an homage to the Pan of Tom Robbins' novel Jitterbug Perfume and features white lotus, cedar, lavender, hay, patchouli and tinctured hair of a rutting billy goat.
Fairchild was inspired by the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden in Florida, and has three jasmines (grandi, sambac and aruiculatum), ylang ylang, champaca, citrus, ambergris, sea shells and pandanus.
Samples are available now at Anya's Garden; the fragrances will go on sale in Eau de Parfum and Parfum in September.
“Tinctured hair of a rutting billy goat.”
Huh.
Indeed, LOL! But I just saw a discussion of this at the perfumeoflife forum, and I hope Anya will not mind my using a quote of hers from there: “the goat hair, like most animal essences is rather funky until diluted. Wait. It's still funky diluted! But in a blend, in a tiny amount, it is sublime.”
Thanks for helping out, here Robin. Several reviews have appeared on other sites, and nobody can ID goat hair, lol. They speak well of the warm, unique scent. It's quite amber-y and herbal and woodsy, made for men, but loved by women.
