The "Gardens of the World Collection" is new from Trapp candles, and includes fragrances like Ireland, with green grass, fern, clover, jasmin and hawthorn; and Russia, with fir, cinnamon, rose, eucalyptus, sage, rosemary, woods and vanilla. Available at scentsandsprays for $25 for a 7 oz candle. I wish those lovely patterns on the boxes were on the candles themselves. I was also taken with the chocolate candle collection from Thymes Limited, which includes Au Chocolat Latte and Au Chocolat Mandarin.
And a great idea for Valentine's Day from the same retailer: an Illume His & Hers candle set, meant to be burned at the same time. His candle has Tahitian vanilla, spun sugar and coconut cream; Hers features spices and woods with white musk. In what I found to be a comically ironic commentary on modern gender politics, the men's candle is called "Seduction", the women's is called "Affection".
Wonderful, an Ireland candle for DH, a Russia candle for me. And the price is reasonable.
My theory is that a girl can never have too many candles and those Trapp candles as well as the Illume are calling my name. I wish Trapp would wrap the candles in the patterned paper like Karen Klein does. And happy birthday to NST! It's been a great year of reading.
Trapp candles are great. Yes, coloring the glass would be a great idea.
:O)
M, I have about 4 Trapp candles & I think they are great for the price. I am very tempted to get a few more…
Totally agree — the Trapp boxes are really prettier than the candles. The KK candles are pretty but I've never tried them, have you?
I like the packaging on those Illume candles — the wooden tops are a nice touch.
And thanks!
Agree on both points!
Yes, I've tried several KK candles. Got my first one (and my favorite) last year when Kris raved about it – the Leather/Tabachi/New Mown Hay one. Great throw for the money and a gorgeous scent. My other favs are the Millefiori Honey/Aromatic Tea and Fig/Black Currant/Fresh Cut Grass.
Wow, those all sound very, very tempting. I really need to use up some of my candles before I buy more. Or maybe not…
Hello again from Kerry at tasmanianphotographers.blogharbor. I have been researching newspapers for Valentine's Day 1871, and found an ad for Rimmel's perfumes exports to the colonies. It's a terrible copy from microfilm but I've posted it anyway. I have searched your blog for Rimmel products, and Eugene Rimmel's book 1876, The Perfume Book, with no luck. Any info?
Hi K, Cool ad! The company still exists & is now owned by Coty.
