Have an extra $84,000 to invest in a new perfume? The Hadland Group is planning to reissue V1, a perfume created by English perfumer Arthur Burnham for fashion house Gianni Vive Sulman. The bottle is by Pierre Dinand; the hand-crafted box includes a key encrusted with diamonds & rubies. The original run of 173 bottles sold out in 1998. Check it out on the CNN website.
New from Yves Rocher: Néonatura Cocoon perfume, with vanilla, cocoa and patchouli. Available in Eau de Toilette, Shower Gel, Incense sticks, and tealight candles.
The question is, what does the key open? Is whatever it is behind that door worth $84,000? 🙂
Heard several raves for the Cocoon – like a softer version of Borneo 1834, it's said. I WILL resist (sob) – having shelled out for Borneo itself (and I adore it), I hardly need the economy version too. Mind you, they do a handbag atomiser REALLY cheaply…
Mysterious boxes with mysterious keys remind me of Mulholland Drive. It makes me think that you try on the fragrance and then tiny old people run under your door cackling, an ominous cowboy issues you a warning, and you find out you've awakened to another life. Fortunately, you are played by Naomi Watts, so you are hot.
LOL — I guess it depends on your point of view. It comes in a fancy wood box, and the bottle has 18k gold & diamonds. I'm sure the perfume is very high quality. What else can I say? From my point of view, unless it also provides food & shelter, and maybe a vacation in Tahiti, it is a definite no go.
Interesting, N, now I'll have to try them together! I haven't shelled out for the Borneo myself, so maybe this will be my low end substitute 😉
LOL — not sure I would pay *anything* to enter a David Lynch fantasy, even if I did get to be hot.
*ears perk up* Oh, really? Similar to Borneo 1834? Now I've got to try it.
Vacation in Tahiti … *sigh* perfume vendors should start doing GWPs like that…Maybe next time bautyhabit will have a 25% discount and a deluxe free trip to an unspesified exotic place…LOL
Yves Rocher fragrances always start out so lovely but end, in my opinion, with something lacking. “Neonatura” was lovely, but heavy on the cocoa and wood. It dryed down to something very sweet on me. Not entirely bad, but not my preference.
“Evidence” is nice enough, very dry. The gardenia is a good everyday splash—I wore “Gardenia” perfume as a teen, so gardenia has a place in my heart eternally…hahaha. “Ming Shu Fleur Rare” is a nice, dry oriental floral. Very aquatic. “Ode a' l'amour” is too sweet and jasminy for me.
“Ode au reve” is rather interesting, however. I think it's such an odd fragrance: At times intoxicating, other times, dull and strongly of licorice. It seems like a very subtle version of the Lolita Lempicka evening fragrance.
I have only tried a few, and haven't fallen in love with one yet 🙂
