exotic flowers, eh?
Wellllll…. hibiscus, maybe. That doesn’t grow in my back yard. But you’re right, it doesn’t sound all that exotic.
don’t forget those tangy fruits.
Daisy, congratulations! Who do you get those cute little identifiers for your name? I can’t find an ap.
Perhaps there are many more not listed 🙂
perhaps they are SO exotic they must be kept secret.
(please let none of them be that Titan Arum…)
Exactly!
I hate to say it, but for some reason the Rocher bottle makes me think of a bellyache….just before the splash of pepto bismal.
and it has that dreaded raspberry note (shuddering)
Oh dear, Pepto Bismol! Not a good fragrance association, LOL…
doesn’t it vaguely remind you of a churning tummy with that pink sliding down, and even a bubble at the top? ack!
oh, so sorry, forget I said anything…please return to your cuppa tea
Ha! Pepto Bismol always makes me feel worse, somehow.
Absolutely! when vomitting is in question, pepto bismal makes it a certainty.
Oh no Daisy. I was going to say I liked the bottle- in a Beyond Paradise kind of way. I don’t think in colors about my tummy, if I’m going to hurl, I think in terms of dark colors and grey…everything looks grey. Gray-the color of nausea. Yuck…sorry guys. Unless it was a freshly ate vegetable covered peperoni pizza…You all are going to kick me off this site aren’t you?
There are 4 flowers in this compositions, 2 basenotes, 5 fruits. What is Clementine??? Is that a fruit, 6 fruits??? Will flies and ants invade me?
I generally like Yves Rocher. At least it’s not pretending to be a floral. It is what they say.
Would a dude really wear a V.S. frag.?
Will I ever run out of questions?
joy, Becca
Good gosh! Clementine is a fruit. This must be the fruitiest frag. ever!
Victoria’s Secret “Vertical”? I need to get my mind out of the gutter.
Can’t wait for the flanker, “Get Horizontal”! It’s VS, I’m pretty sure they don’t mind our minds being in the gutter.
LOL well, I guess we know what Victoria’s secret is now…
uh, yeah. i thought the exact same thing.
i’m sure they had no idea.
Yeah, can’t help but wonder if that was intended.
I feel bad for the marketing team that has to promote Vertical. I’m yet to meet a single guy — regardless of how masculine or feminine his personality — who feels comfortable walking into a Victoria’s Secret.
But women buy most men’s scents anyway 😉
I understand that a lot of men would not even consider shopping on the women’s side of the perfume department (which is a ridiculous shame)….but sometimes, from the ladies’ perspective, I wish perfumes were rated on a scale rather than this is mens’ and this is for women. Unisex doesn’t quite qualify as a scale either. Like, a ‘1’ could be extremely feminine in nature and a ’20’ could be extremely masculine in nature….then other fragrances could filter onto the scale based on how they tend…
well, I enjoyed that brief perfume related fantasy… moving on
I’ve gotta say, I think that’s a really good idea. 🙂
Daisy, I think that’s a brilliant idea! It’s always been one of my pet peeves that so many have that crazy stringent rule. I guess that’s why I feel some weird sense of accomplishment when I receive compliments wearing a “men’s” fragrance and am asked the name.
…or maybe I should just get some loftier goals, haha.
I know, I feel the same way…like I’ve burst through some societal artificially imposed barrier! muwahahaha….
I find I often really like the scents that are listed as unisex or tend toward the masculine. But if they’re REALLY manly then not so much…with a scale system I’d head right for the 10’s to 15’s right away….but how would that affect men’s shopping? Maybe since all the perfumes were together they could try anything without having to risk approaching the women’s counters? or would they just stay away altogether? I dunno, like I said…just a little perfumista fantasy.
Yves Rocher Green Summer reminds me of watermelon or watermelon tourmaline. Do you know if it is available in the US or online? Thanks Robin.
Not yet, and it always takes them longer to make things available in the US…in fact, we still don’t have Tendre Jasmin, which launched elsewhere in the fall of 2008.
Yes Robin, I order from Yves Rocher quite often (cheap), and I have seen it under a branch site, “descriptive Yves Rocher”. I don’t know if it’s for sale or not. I want the mini, I think it might be a Jasmine I’m looking for that might not be as heady as a lot of them. Pink Jasmine by Fresh is close….but pricey. Don’t you like P.J. as your blue jeans scent Robin? Can you find Fresh’s products at a discount?
I think a feminine/masculine scale would be cool, but who could judge that? I know my feminine differs from yours. There should be a whirly-girly scale. It would be on the negative on the feminine side.
Pink Jasmine is nice as a jeans scent, but I don’t own it personally. And no — don’t ever see Fresh at a discount, although admittedly I haven’t been looking.
I’d really like to try the Yves Rocher version too…hope they do get it eventually, although I haven’t read anything very spectacular about it.
Love the Yves Rocher bottle, but will probably stay away from it. LOL!
Might be best 🙂
Green Summer looks and sounds suspiciously like a variation on the Glow by J.Lo scents… which might not be such a bad thing.
It’s the same bottle they used for Naturelle, & possibly others (?)
Odd, I was thinking the very same thing!
Wait! What?! Victoria’s Secret for men? I just skimmed right over the full post this morning without noticing that. I mean, sure, nothing wrong with that, but still, something seems wrong. Even if a woman bought it for a man, I can just imagine the scenario: “I am NOT wearing anything by Victoria’s Secret! I don’t CARE if it’s made for men!”
Who knows, maybe most men aren’t *that* bad. I’ll wear anything if it smells good (and to me, this doesn’t sound like it will)… but of course, I’m not most men. 😀
LOL…most men (most people, really) don’t care so much about fragrance. And it doesn’t say VS on the bottle, so who’s to know?
blah. green summer smells cheap… >_<‘
It’s YR, so I assume it *is* cheap 🙂
Well, I went into Victoria’s Secret to sample Vertical at a recent trip to the mall – not expecting much, as I really didn’t like either of the Very Sexys. But I came out with the big bottle and a body wash, which is a rarity. Out of 60+ full bottles, this has been getting a lot of attention from me recently. Almost gotta feel bad for my other bottles!
It’s simultaneously sweet, spicy and green – something that’s often tried in designer scents but never really works quite like this. A miraculous amount of depth for what it is, and it’ll surely work in all seasons. On top of that, it perfectly melds with my body chemistry. Exceeded expectations by a mile. Any guys who like sweet scents should check this out. It almost reminds me of what a summer flanker of Rochas Man would smell like.
Drat — I was just at VS yesterday trying the new Intimes collection, and completely forgot to try Vertical. Next time!
