I am wearing the strongest lime I own, JM Lime Basil & Mandarin. I always find this scent a little odd because the basil makes it smell almost savoury.
Bringing doggo to the vet for surgery later. There is a small growth on her left paw that is painful to touch and is a weird colour. Hope it’s nothing too serious.

I’m wearing LUSH 25:43, the only lime that I own (as far as I can determine). I’m thinking I don’t really love this one. It may need to be rehomed.
Mine was rehomed from someone else too, so I think it is not a universal love 🙂
My choices for lime were Eau de Sud, Eau de Guerlain, Eau de Rochas, Bois d’Hadrien and FM Outrageous! I chose Eau de Rochas (thank you, allo:)) I haven’t worn this in so long and I love it. My bottle has wavy glass lines on it and reminds me of water flowing over rocks in a stream. I love the CP projects because it makes me think about my collection in a different light.
OK-off to dentist again, to try and keep my health in order. I’m looking forward to reading whatever ingenious lime based fragrances everyone is wearing 🙂

I’m compliant in Chypre-Siam, from Rogue Perfumery. It’s a wonderful, old-school floral, mossy, leathery chypre, with a kaffir lime note.
Creator Manuel Cross explains, “The day I sampled Coty’s original Chypre in 2012, I understood I wasn’t just smelling a perfume, I was smelling the bones of an entire era. Days later, the kaffir lime leaves I was picking for a curry carried me right back to that sample. The idea was immediate: capture the experience of Coty’s Chypre through Southeast Asian materials. Kaffir lime, holy basil, jasmine, ylang…”

I would sworn that back in the day the notes for Rochas Byzance included lime — there does seem to be a bright-green flash among the citrusy aldehydes in the opening salvo — but websites don’t list it and I certainly might have been mistaken. Anyway, CP or no, I have a vintage bottle and I’m wearing it today because it’s so amazing.
It seems I never see any mentions of Byzance, but I had a bottle of it once. It was amazing, and really distinctive.
Yes it is, 50_Roses! I’ve got a vintage EdT of Byzance that I need to put up for the next swapmeet. It’s lovely but I never wear it. But I love smelling it on people (all too rarely, alas) and you smell wonderful, pyramus.
It is amazing. I wore it daily for four or five years long ago, and can hardly believe it now as it’s so not me anymore. But I loved it then, and went through at least two bottles. It was an interesting era, for scent and so many other things.
Yeah, agree, SheriG. Maybe it’s the creamy sweet tuberose that no longer works for me. But it certainly defined an era: Poison, Giorgio, etc.

My friend wore this in the 90’s-it’s such a beautiful and unique scent. I loved the bottle too, and I agree with you-there’s some bright flashes of lime/citrus in there.
Spent yesterday in No 5 L’eau, which I dug out of the perfume cabinet–in the process, unearthed at least 2 BUBs of the 2007 version of Eau Premiere, good grief! Could bathe in Eau Premiere for the next couple of years.
Today I’m in my sample of Eshal–lime note is fleeting but noticeable upon initial spritz–kinda like L’eau.
I love going spelunking in my collection. Never know what you’ll find. Those early tall bottles of No 5 Eau Premiere are amazing. Hmm, now I’m tempted to wear that instead. Choices choices.

This morning I’m in vintage Tabac Blond extrait, courtesy of a very kind NSTer. I can’t really suss out the lime note it allegedly has, but I’ll take points anyway because it’s gorgeous. Someday I’ll acquire more than the two drops I have remaining.

Today I am wearing a Paris purchase from last year, Astier De Villatte’s Mantes-la-Jolie. It’s is a mint (aka menthe, a bit of a pun)
They do such a great job with fragrance.

That it did! It also reminded me of the bistro my friend and I went to right afterwards, where we were saying to each other, “I can’t believe we’re in Paris!” And it was a perfect spring day…

I’m wearing Bronze Goddess yet again, it keeps on being the only perfume I want to wear right now.
I thought Nicolai Vanille Tonka had lime in the top notes but not anymore, it seems, so I can’t add anything to the CP.
I too find Bronze Goddess very quenching in the heat, ringthing. You smell great.
I swear: Bronze Goddess has to be one of the best names for a summer scent ever imho! Plus you smell wonderful!
Wearing Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Bahiana. Fragrantica does not list lime for the notes, but MPG’s own website does. Anyway, a lovely but short-lived fragrance. And perfect for a summer day. Happy Friday, all.

I watched the Argentina vs Cabo Verde game with my sister (her husband is in Cabo Verde and she is spending part of the year there) and have not seen one since… in fact, might be the only time I watched an entire game of soccer in my whole life?

A ringing endorsement for luxuriating if ever there was one!
Back from Malaysia and jetlagged but participating today. TSA was very interested in my checked bag containing shrimp paste, 4 kinds of soy sauce, pandan extract, and whole nutmegs. I found their notices in three different compartments! I learned to make some wonderful food on the trip, and ate even more.
I’m wearing Madhat Limed today, it’s a terrific scent made by a Basenoter named Ryan. He had a baby a few years back and stopped making perfumes, but has started up again.
Oh, glad you had a fun trip! I couldn’t tell–did TSA remove those items or just leave notes about inspecting them? I will be eager to hear more about your trip and the good things you’re going to be making!
TSA just left the notes, nothing confiscated (and ruined my luggage lock). The shrimp paste especially is a 500g block that I am sure looks very suspicious on X-ray.

My husband tends to bring back similar food ingredients when he travels to Jakarta but in NZ you have to declare any food/ plants and your bag is opened in front of you by customs/ agricultural inspectors so at least no locks get broken. Did you have a highlight from your trip? Where the rubber car mats superior , for example?
Things have changed in the continental US. When we used to fill out paper Customs forms, we had to declare food items. Now there are no forms and the Customs persons so far have just waved me on, but I have Global Entry clearance and don’t look very suspicious. In Hawaii, luggage is X-rayed before departure so you can’t leave with any fruit, vegetables, seeds, etc. and on arrival there there is an online declaration to fill out.
The car mats were terrible, looked like the thin padding you can put on your kitchen shelves. The dirt just falls through.
I had a durian tasting that was really interesting, five different varieties that were harvested in the morning. Apparently the fruit starts to oxidate immediately after it falls off the tree and the older the fruit is, the more pungent the odor. I liked the taste of it but the slimy texture was off-putting.
The best thing I ate was pork belly slow cooked with thick, dark soy sauce. It was delicious and I bought a bottle of the sauce. I also drank loads of nutmeg juice made from the fruit of the nutmeg.
So sorry about the car mats….maybe some plantations have more artisanal, hand made products….worth looking into for future reference? The food sounds wonderful ( except the durian) and nutmeg juice! Wow, that would be something. Have fun with all your new ingredients and cooking.
Oooof. Sounds like I would have problems with the texture of durian, too. Can’t do slimy.
Please tell us about the nutmeg juice-are their nutmegs huge? How on earth can they extract enough juice to give you a glass? I read a wonderful book called Nathaniel’s NutMeg, about the spice trades. Made me see that spice in a whole new way!
Hey, recently-returned-from-Malaysia twin! I didn’t not attempt to bring back as many adventurous things as you did. Mostly dark soy sauce and various chili sauces. I’m so intrigued by this nutmeg juice you mentioned, and I’m really eager to try making nasi lemak.
Make Tau Yew Bak with your dark soy sauce! The nutmeg juice drinks were made from the fruit of the tree, the part that is stripped off to get the nutmeg nut inside. I bought nutmeg concentrate that may or may not be the same thing. We had to make our sambals from scratch and I swear I am never pounding anything with a mortar and pestle again. That’s why there are food processors!

I was in KL. I really wanted to take a side trip to either Penang or Malacca but it was too much to manage with the family. Next time!
My SOTD is Paris-Deauville, which is truly a lime-centric scent. I was sure that Ô de Lancôme must have lime but when I looked it up, no. It seems to me that a lot of the citrus smells are so often mixed together in perfume-making that it can be hard to distinguish them. What Ô de Lancôme has is bergamot, lemon, and mandarin orange. P-D has lime, lemon, and Sicilian orange. Both have some floral notes. The latter is a more interesting perfume, to my nose, probably because of including basil and patchouli. The one citrus note that almost always stands out to me is tangerine. It just seems to me somehow more “fragrant” than all the other members of its kind.

I initially also thought that O de Lancome had lime in it. Was quite surprised to find out it ain’t so.
Grapefruit and blood orange are rather distinctive citrus notes to me.
I’m wearing the sublime Mitsuoko because it has the warmth and complexity and beauty to make a dark, cold morning feel a bit brighter.
Oh, dear, about your weather, but it sounds like you’ve made a wise choice.

Mitsuko is beautiful. I came to love it in the heat of the summer, and I prefer the EDT version. You smell astonishingly good, Kanuka.

allo, I still have a tube of the matching body cream. It’s so good. I wish they still made these products-they had such a healing effect on skin, plus the scents were so concentrated it was like wearing the perfume. You smell so good!
Like a few others, I’m back in EL Bronze Goddess just because it works so well in the heat and I’m lacking the initiative to go digging through my little collection to find anything else. Maybe I’ll get through this entire bottle of BG this summer, too? I did wear Indochine to work last night and got to talking with a male co-worker (who smelled fabulous) about perfumes. When I asked him what he was wearing he said, verbatim- “Some cheap ass 💩 from Amazon but it smells fantastic!” And he did indeed smell wonderful. 🙂
This hospital has the best salad bar ever, better than many restaurants, and the cafeteria stays open until 2230 for us night walkers, which NEVER happens. Now after weeks of enjoying it, I’m avoiding it due to the parasite going around. I went down last night and circled it longingly like a sheep dog rounding up the herd, ready to dash in get my nibbles. I decided to be safe and bought an Asian chicken noodle bowl masquerading as Kung Pao chicken. It was as disappointing as you can imagine. Alas, just another of life’s little cruelties…🙃
Oh, that’s truly an insult to your sense of fairness to lose the salad bar opportunity when it’s so rare. Golly. I’m sorry about the chicken dish. That reminds me that a vegan friend recently shared a recipe for Kung Pao tofu that he said was really good, and I made some and loved it! I tempered down the pepper element, which I can’t handle.
I finally heard about cyclospora case numbers here in CO after the discussion here on NST. Looks like there’s been around 90 reported. No outbreak as of yet.
I’m still going to eat those Rainier cherries I got at Costco.
I chose Jo Malone Sweet Lime and Cedar. according to Fragrantica notes are:
Top notes are Lime, Blood Orange, Pomelo, Passionfruit and Pink Pepper; middle notes are Lavender, Gardenia, Ylang-Ylang, Cardamom, Sage, Coconut, Jasmine and Coriander; base notes are Cedar, Tamarind, Tonka Bean and Amber.
They list it is a woody aromatic. I’m not sure why it’s aromatic. Any guesses?
I think the herbs, coriander, sage, tamarind make it aromatic but it seems very floral and fruity too.
Could also be the lavender. But you really can’t tell if something is a woody aromatic or something else without smelling it…it is about the proportion of notes and the character of the finished product, which you can’t tell from the list of notes.
In other words, you can’t know the fragrance family from the list of notes.
Aromatic might be due to the citrus notes and the lavender. But I consider the “aromatic” category to be kind of vague.
SOTD is Chanel No 5 L’Eau for the lime note.

Eating fresh strawberries in lieu of smoothie. Early this morning I decided to finish my 50ml of Eau de Rochas (I’ll have to retrieve my bub), so perfect again on this warm day (29C in my neighborhood, 31 in central London, this heatwave has been less hot overall). It turns out I have 16 fragrances with lime (but some I would have never guessed), tonight I picked Romeo Di Romeo Gigli which is indeed fruity and herbal and all round wonderful, I discovered it just after it was released, it’s so distinctive and lasts so well without being obtrusive. I often buy limes because they’re softer and more floral than lemons.
29 Celsius sounds quite pleasant to me. Much better than some of the previous heat wave temperatures you had mentioned.
I’m in M. Asam No.1. There’s lime in the top (along with other citruses); tea and cardamom in the mid and amber in the base. It’s quite refreshing with the ongoing heat we are having.

And I spotted just I time before I hit the post button that auto-complete had decided that I was wearing Le Participe Passport 🙂 .
You smell so warm and cozy! I remember smelling PP years ago and not understanding it at all. I just got a bottle recently for a good price and appreciate it in an entirely new way. It’s still as strong as they come but I pick up nuances that I totally missed before.

Lots of thinking for me today. Some of it is fanciful while some of it is quite heavy. On the lighter side, I found myself wondering how many perfumes have been named after the 7 Deadly Sins. Lust and Envy immediately come to mind. That leaves 5 unaccounted for.
The heavy stuff… One of my cousins is having surgery today for ovarian cancer. She’s already survived multiple myeloma and breast cancer. I haven’t heard any news about her condition as I type this.

I also tried to fix the temperamental Love’s Fresh Lemon sprayer; thanks for the suggestions. I think the actual sprayer is OK; it seems as though it’s the plastic tube part that sticks out and holds the sprayer on top that’s getting stuck. I tried cleaning it too but it’s still not cooperating. I’ve relegated the bottle to the bathroom as an air-freshener for now.

I’m in Shalimar Cologne today, it certainly is the most citrusy of all my Shalimar flankers although I’m not sure I detect lime specifically.
I almost went with the edc today, but it’s just too hot here.
No lime for me, not a citrus person, so I went with Comète.
Comete smell gorgeous in all weather, cazaubon. It’s one of those scents I wish I would smell on someone else-its sillage is amazing.
