Happy Friday, happy first day of spring (or fall, depending on where you live) and happy International Day of Happiness! It's also UN French Language Day and Fred McFeely Rogers‘ birthday, and, Eid Mubarak! Our community project for today: celebrate the new season howsoever you see fit.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I’m doing day 2 in L’Artisan Parfumeur Jacinthe des Bois.
Reminder: on 3/27, wear a fragrance with a mimosa or cassie note, if you have one. Suggested by Laila.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Welcome Spring! 🌻🐇🐣🌷🪻
It is cloudy and cold here today, but I am glad that Winter is officially gone!
Wearing Gucci Envy for the CP.
Happy Friday!
You smell great
Thank you!
A lovely abstracted green!
Indeed!
Perfection!
It is!
Perfume unicorn sighted! 🦄
What’s perfume unicorn mean? I thought it was a sweet perfume. I must be wrong.
For me, a Perfume Unicorn is something fantastically rare and discontinued. A treasured mirage that you might someday be lucky enough to find.
Unicorn poops, OTOH, are rainbow sweet. That’s probably TMI.
Thanks.
This is a perfume that I will really miss when my bottle is finished.
You smell wonderful-I got to know this one via the last Swapmeet-one of those perfect trades where we each traded a like for a LOVE. 😸
Thank you, MossyBerry! I also got my bottle, many years ago, thanks to a blind swap with a NSTer. I fell in love with Envy immediately.
Happy Spring!!!!

Ferre is my SOTD
I have this scent, and love it. Years ago I could have bought an opulent pair of sunglasses from this brand complete with huge gold maple leaves on the arm of the sunglasses-kinda wish I had indulged. You smell great and thanks for the pictures of elusive kitty/bunny:)
It is definitely a beautiful scent. And our bunny is such a ham.
Smelling fabulous! Do you think it smells similar to FM Iris Poudre? I always thought it did and loved it.
I can definitely see the similarities but honestly I like Ferre much better!!!
👍
Your kitties have the coolest eye’s.
Happy Spring!
You smell wonderful! I stumbled upon Ferre in an Ebay lot and was all “wow” when I tried it. The bottle is so classy, too: so heavy and with the name in raised letters so it’s seen when you look down into the bottle.
Good Morning NST. I’m up with the birds today wearing vintage Carven Vetiver splashed on from a giant whopping ornate bottle with the jaunty walking man and green label. It is an old school-straight ahead vetiver with a very slightly smoky feel to it, like a tiny whisper of Sycomore-to-come. I don’t know what inspired Christopher Sheldrake when he created Sycomore EdT, but I have a fantasy of him testing old vintage bottles of Carven Vetiver and thinking, hhmmm, if I amp up the smokiness by 100%, that would be something novel.
I like this CP because it can go in many directions – green herbal, green rooty, green floral, green abstract, green forest, green bottle, you name it.
Note to LesLiesse – Tom Ford’s Grey Vetiver does not smell much like Grey Flannel to my nose. With GF I get a ton of violet leaves or green violets, and there is no violet in the TF, at least none that I can suss out.
Thank you DH! Your nose is sophisticated and I appreciate the way you discern (is that the appropriate verb for differentiating among the scents in a fragrance?) the different ingredients in a bottle.
I am wearing Demeter’s Wet Garden, which to me is primarily hyacinth. I have loved hyacinth since i was a child, and the fragrance means spring to me.
Note twins!
I’m spending the morning in L’Artisan Bucoliques de Provence for its lavender, iris and violets, and matching it with lavender socks and my favorite purple coffee mug. In my head it’s always spring in Provence — someday I’ll go there and find out for sure.
Excellent fantasy travel 🙂
I’m in the Hermes Muguet Porcelaine scent, for spring and because it has a beautiful green cap.
Bonjour! I am following your Muguet lead with PN’s Muguet une fleur en mai.
I’m wearing Penhaligon’s Ostara because the daffodils I keep seeing are making me happy and hopeful, whatever the weather🌼
Thank you again to the generous NSTer who bequeathed this to me in one of our recent swapmeets.
Perfect for the CP. Ostara screams spring!
At the top of its lungs!😊
Daffodil twins today!
OMG, Mr Rogers’s birthday is also International Happiness, UN French Language Day and the First Day of Spring !?! Well, this French-learning former Pittsburgher is delighted ! Happy Friday, indeed!
Sotd FM Iris Poudre, originally from a generous NSTer, who Enabled a FB purchase.
Smelling fabulous!
Why, thank you Kris. Focusing on the part of the glass that is fragrantly half-full.
I’ve probably told you this before, but when I lived in Pittsburgh, in Shadyside, it was near the TV studio and we would see him park his car and walk down the street very often!!
Shadyside! No, Calypso you never told me that story. Thank you for sharing it w me!
I’m wearing my beloved PdE Corsica Furiosa. The opening blast of green wakes up my olfactory bulb similar to this banger:
https://youtube.com/shorts/KV_sRd-7G28?si=IWRkRui73gvgzbXy
The dry down is soft and golden. A FB I’ve never regretted. ❤️
I’m a bit disgruntled that I’m at about 8000ft and it was 80F already yesterday, although it cools down nicely at night. I know the Children of Summer have been waiting for this with bated breath…😎🌞
Banger indeed!
I am sorry it is so warm there, and I am sorry it is not warm enough here…although probably our weather today (61, I think, and about to rain) was perfect for you.
That YouTube short woke me up! Wowza!
Hello and tgif!
Spring is Printemps and so my sotd is the Paris Printemps limited MFK Le Beau Parfum.
Bonus point for the French
ITA w AnnieA, H888C !
And Nowruz Mubarak to those who celebrate this loveliest of holidays.
My favorite day when we lived in Iran; beautiful haft seen tables, new clothes for children, families gathering, soft sping in the air after very cold, very snowy winters.
SOTD post shower will be Ingenious Ginger since we have had such warm weather.
Language class later at library, one more to go before I decide if I will do it again.
Have a good Friday all.
Nowruz Mubarak apsara! “Soft spring” so vivid a description I can feel it. Don’t know your scent but I imagine you smell beautiful. Keep cool!
Happy Nowruz! I was invited to a party for it last night but didn’t go, because it was unfortunately pretty far from where I live. But I have gone before and enjoyed the celebration (and food!).
I hope your class goes well. It must be so interesting meeting all the different students
Nowruz Muburak apsara!
Yesterday got away from me so no perfume, but today I am wearing the green juice that is Hiram Green Arbole. Double green for spring!
Here’s hoping we get a double long spring to match…
Happy Friday! Project Amber continues w/ Christian Louboutin Fétiche L’Ambre today…prominent green tuberose in the opening so far and will update later w/ how it develops. 🚂
This week I wore…
Musc Ravageur – divine!
Ambre Antique – heavenly!
AG Ambre Fetiche (original formula) – transcendent!
😇🕊️
Love tuberose, I should try that one.
A tuberose amber? 🤔
For spring, I went with Marc Jacobs Daisy.
There are lovely, bountiful wild daisies outside and I will think of you when I look at them, Kris!
I just tried Daisy Wild Eau So Extra today…you can smell the banana, if anyone cares! But you can also smell the pear. I did not like it.
(And HATED JHAG Banana Rush.)
I have only liked the original Daisy. None of the others interested me in the least.
IIRC you hate, hate, hate pear notes!
Pretty much. But LOVE a good banana. Banana Rush was a real disappointment, I was going to buy the travel size and was excited to finally buy new perfume!
The OG Daisy was well made and incredibly likeable. Have you smelled it recently?
That’s what I am wearing.
Hoping that it hasn’t been tinkered with too much over the years. That would be a shame.
I really think it’s pretty much the same.
Yesterday was winter-like in NYC, and today is much more spring-like! I’m wearing Syd Botanica Ghost Flowers.
Same here, weather wise! Happy spring Jessica.
Wearing Diorissimo today. Yesterday we did a bit of yard work and put out the birdbath. I just witnessed a robin splashing about, having the greatest time in the bath; I wish I had my phone with me to capture the moment. It seemed like pure bliss!
We have a birdbath too and one of my favorite things is watching this bliss in action.
Diorissimo! You smell like the essence of spring yo me!
LOTV note twins today!
Perfect choice and you smell wonderful!
It doesn’t feel like spring here unfortunately, they are announcing another snow storm today and tomorrow. I really wish this is the last one of the season.
On a positive note, I am going out tonight with friends.
Wearing Narciso musc oil, inspired by the new series Love Stories where they mention Caroline wearing Egyptian musc.
I have been “googling” this whole subject a lot: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and the musk perfume oil She wore. I’m so interested in this as a subject. So interesting.
What did you find in your research?
In the memoir What Remains, Carole Radizwell call her friend’s scent “Egyptian Musk.” So maybe Nemat, or Auric Blends?
I wore Egyptian Musk for ages, I think the brand was Body Time? Or Body Something. They were from California and it did used to have a minor following on MakeupAlley.
Wearing Coco from vintage crystal flacon second day in a row. Smells so divine on me. It’s much warmer here now – Coco may seem like a cold weather scent but for some reason it smells so beautiful on me no matter the season, I guess.
That’s it. I just saw that D’Annam released Mango Sticky Rice. That’s it. I’m gonna have to get a bottle of that. I have successfully resisted all of their launches. I have ALWAYS been a lover of especially Japanese and Korean culture as well as a huge interest in Vietnamese or Thai things also. My favorite food is Asian. I mean I love love love Asian food. I know Japanese and Thai menus like the back of my hand. Even when I go to Starbucks with friends – and I have a deep coffee craving I always walk out with a cup of grassy (maybe not the most authentic but still) matcha in hand. My little almost-7 year old eats tons of Asian food just the way I eat haha. What I love about d’Annam (from afar as I have never tried any of them) is: their aesthetic, their vision for what they do, love the new round bottles. That round-clear pebble-shaped bottle is a hit with me. I dream I will own Chanel #5 L’Eau in that format and never got around to buying it (yet) although I do have and love the scent. I’m on my 2nd bottle of #5 L’Eau but in its rectangular bottle – the one currently sold.
Yes I will spend $500 on a Chanel parfum but I never get to spend any money on other brands because if something costs over $100 from another brand I feel bad if I can use that money towards another bottle of Chanel. I am crazy like that.
But that’s it d’Annam!! I’m coming for You. I will have to get Mango Sticky Rice – I had seen this released by other brands before and it always caught my interest, the Mango Sticky Rice perfumes. But in that pebble shaped bottle from d’Annam? Gotta get it. Did I forget to mention that I love mango sticky rice? It’s simply delicious. I also do not mind smelling like a kitchen (hello the good ‘ol days when Comme des Garcons brought me so much joy with my favorite of their series: #7, Sweet) but all these perfumes released nowadays that resemble glorified body mist are a turn off because everything has to say: caramel laced marshmallow on it. If anyone gets to smell d’Annam Mango Sticky Rice before I do – please report!!
I have a decant of Sticky Rice, no mango, and I love it.
I have it too! No mango.
For some reason d’Annam seems so legit with their offerings. I haven’t tried any of their scents yet but for some reason I am sure they all smell so good.
I’ve had the real life dessert Mango Sticky Rice only a couple of times. It’s so good!
It is amazing. Our local Thai restaurants (I worked for 3 Thai restaurants in the past in our town – and I know all the Thai community in our town, are one million authentic Thai meals made by chefs and not served on the regular menu) but very unfortunate has happened – all the Thai restaurants in our town stopped adding mango sticky rice to their menus. I would make some but here is the catch: I am not a sophisticated cook haha I can make very simple meals and I don’t believe I could ever recreate the magic of the real mango sticky rice.
I’m wearing YSL Paris (Note: NOT “Mon Paris”), which is known best for its rose note but it has most every other flower you can think of in it, including classic spring notes like jasmine, lily of the valley, and hyacinth, plus “green notes” and iris–so it’s pretty perfect for the CP! In addition, it’s just plain pretty. My mom often wore it.
I thought it has violet too? Or no? That’s what I am remembering from decades ago.
And my mom wore it, and so did I! Great stuff.
I’m wearing ELdO You or Someone Like You, which is the only spring-like sample in my travel bag. (Ummagumma didn’t seem right, nor 31 rue Cambon, nor Ossuary.) It is, at least, a beautiful spring day in Paris today, high of 18C. I am NOT ready to leave for eastern Canada tomorrow. 🙂
Hope we’ll get some Paris stories from your trip!
Seconding LesLiesse! Safe flight home.
Our summer was rubbish, but early autumn is turning out to be a bit more settled and we’ve had several sunny days.
I’m delighted that we’ve woken up to a sunny Saturday, and the main activity today is taking our cat to the vet for her annual check up. Phaedra had major surgery four years ago for a growth in her ear, but apart from that she’s a robust wee thing.
I’m going to relive spring (or anticipate the next) with the lovely green Scherrer.
Enjoy the sun!
Long life Phaedra!
Hope Phaedra kitty didn’t fuss too much at the vet.
I’m in Central Otago for the weekend and have woken up to a cloudless blue sky and not a breath of wind. It’s early so the shadows cast by the trees are long, and the trees themselves are golden in the morning sun. There’s a family on four Californian quail on the lawn, their heads bobbing as they chat among themselves. Yesterday I stopped at roadside stalls to buy apricots from the orchard where they are grown. I’m taking a three hour writing workshop today with a group of local enthusiasts and then will go for a walk along the river. A perfect autumn day and wearing Shalimar.
What a lovely picture you’ve painted here! Enjoy!
This reads like a poem, Kanuka! I hope it was every bit as lovely to do as it was to read about.
First, you smell divine, absolutely divine! Next, I heartily agree with the others that this reads lyrically, your descriptions alive and moving, Kanuka!
Quail are so pretty. Especially if there is a covey of them, like you described.
You smell wonderful, and I love quail and the headdresses they wear!
All of that sounds so perfect! Hope the workshop is too.
I started the day in Guerlain’s Florabloom Perle, which I like best of the various Florabloom varients because it is the rosiest. But it is short lived, so I just switched to Nicolai’s Le Temps d’une Fete. I am forever grateful to SheriG and Jepster for generously sharing this Spring Beauty with me. I love it so much!
The daffodils haven’t bloomed yet, but the garden is filled with their leaves. I hope they wait until the cold is truly gone.
Tea today is Fortnum & Mason’s Victoria Grey. Not my favorite grey from them, but the lavender is quite nice in a london fog with a touch of honey.
Nice to see you today Vee!
I have not tried the Victoria Grey, I was put off by the licorice…have determined I do not like licorice in my tea. But you have reminded me to pull out my tin of Countess Grey, which tends to get ignored in cold weather.
Atelier Materi Narcisse Taiji for the CP.
A narcissus scent, but very different from the golden, warm Temps d’une Fête. Narcisse Taiji feels rather austere, perhaps even metallic, yet still very spring-like.
From the Atelier Materi website:
“The olfactory interpretation of Yin and Yang, where the Narcissus flower is worked in chiaroscuro. A contrast between light and shadow, strength and delicacy.”
So yes, it fits well with my interpretation of the equinox – light and shadow, contrast and balance.
Thank you for making me laugh yesterday!!
The pleasure was all mine. 😁
🍫🍫🍫🍫
You were on a roll yesterday Glannys! The relation of 8 to ate totally passed me by!
Narcissus flowers can definitely have a metallic tinge to them. Great choice!
Happy Spring! So many of us wearing green scents today, even more than on St. Patrick’s Day! I’m joining you in one I’ve been longing to wear this month – the 1991 version of Balmain Vent Vert. It’s the fragrance that taught me how much I love a galbanum note. I love everything about it; of course, the scent itself, but also its name (so indicative of Spring weather) and the bottle itself with its jaunty polka-dot tie and feathery cap blowin’ in the wind. ❤️I’m so happy to switch over from vanilla and patchouli to green and oakmoss.
Looking forward tonight to another Shakespeare Project of Chicago play at a nearby library, ‘Dear Rhoda.’ It’s based on a pair of letter-writing lovers and set in the Roaring 20’s era in Chicago with some famous name characters of that era. The inspiration was born In 1986 when a woman bought an old trunk at a garage sale in Wisconsin; it was locked and stayed that way for 20 years in their garage until they moved to another state. When finally opened, it contained clothes and other items from the 1920’s and hundreds of letters written by a Chicago bookseller to his love. Eventually made into a play, the woman who purchased the trunk, who spent her career as a hairdresser and restaurateur with no writing experience, was convinced by her playwright friend to compose the letters from Rhoda for the play, as none were found in the trunk. I can’t wait to see!
Happy Spring! Happy Fall! And Nowruz Mubarak to those who celebrate!
Enjoy the play.
Hope you have a rip-roaring time! How fun! Long live Rhoda!
Nowruz Muburak! Today was also Eid-al Fitr.
SOTD = Jo Malone Honey & Crocus Cologne
As spring as spring can get! Faux summer lovers? Say it isn’t so 🤦🏻♀️. Fall and Winter are my seasons!
This being tax season, what better time to spend than to read tax-related articles. There may be a pay wall for this one … although it is good nonetheless:
https://www.wsj.com/personal-finance/taxes/these-simple-steps-can-save-you-time-and-trouble-with-the-irs-51d58182?st=bP2xae&reflink=article_copyURL_share
It’s been too warm for you??
Only one day so far but I know the heat is a-coming 🥵
Frozen red fruits and yogurt smoothie
Good seasonal weather this week overall, typical UK spring temperatures, fresh but no chill in the air. This morning for the CP, Bas de soie and tonight, an old favorite, LPRN Couture.
Smelling great in Couture Aurora! I don’t know your first one.
I think you and I are the only ones really devoted to the Couture version here, for me it was the only LPRN worth having. Bas de soie is a hyacinth perfume, very delicate and unlike Serge Lutens other perfumes.
Glad to hear that you are enjoying a lovely Spring.
I wish I could send you this particular weather.
Many, many thanks to all the NSTers who expressed support for me yesterday. I am humbled and appreciative. After a night’s sleep, I reread my post. I realize that it probably sounds rather dire, so I’m adding some info.
Yesterday, the numbers for my BP were bad. Like Level 2 hypertension bad. We are talking between 90 and 100 for diastolic pressure. My BP was taken 3 times with 2 different blood pressure cuffs. Folks here with medical backgrounds will understand the significance of that data.
It was quite the shock, since I am usually at 120/78. 124/80 if I am having a bad day. But there is a significant family history of high blood pressure for both sides.
I haven’t quite accepted the information yet.
SOTD = Dame Perfumery Lily of the Valley soliflore body butter. Not quite up to wearing actual perfume yet.
I hope that the Doctors can get you on a plan to get you back to your normal numbers. I’m not really familiar with this type of issue so apologies if my post sounds ignorant.
You do smell great. I enjoy Dame LOTV.
The doctor I saw yesterday was part of a workplace benefit from the former Mr. Jalapeno. I still have some medical coverage thru him. It will go away once we are divorced. That hasn’t happened yet. Others issues have been more important.
I don’t remember your age, but it is common for blood pressure to go up with age. Hopefully, you can take a low dose medication to assist with it.
I have noticed the numbers creeping up over the years. But to have a rise like that from last year? It scares me.
Some extended family members died young from heart disease.
That is troubling; I am glad you under a Dr.’s care. High BP was my wakeup call that I am not invincible heath-wise. I hope you will find a treatment path that is not too burdensome. 🌷
I had that same feeling for the longest time. Like I had managed to avoid health issues that many of my loved ones have had to deal with. Nope.
Glad to hear that you’ll be getting things looked after, health wise. Lily of the valley is perfect for spring.
Thanks Gail!
I will have to remember LOTV for May 1 this year…
That is indeed scary. Have you been having any symptoms? I assume they are going to follow up.
And thanks for sharing, because the range of “life changing” medical problems that aren’t cancer is so huge, and it is easier to worry when we know what to worry about 🙂
Zero symptoms. I grew up hearing high blood pressure referred to as “the silent killer”. Now I know exactly what people meant.
I definitely will need to make some lifestyle modifications. Like changing what I get at the grocery store and Costco, for starters.
I agree with Robin and am glad to know more about your situation. I hope that the follow up is comprehensive and that you feel you’re in good hands, with a good plan going forward.
Thank you allo!
Sending hugs and hoping they get you sent up with a treatment plan soon. Brother She-ra takes a very low dose BP med and it is quite effective. He has to make sure his BP doesn’t go too low in fact.
Appreciate the hugs, She-ra. Both my parents had high blood pressure, but my Mom didn’t get it until later in life.
Oh, I’m so sorry Jalapeno, I wasn’t on NST Thursday. It is alarming for you, hope your doctor will come out with a good plan to manage. your blood pressure. Cutting out on salt is something you can do right away meanwhile. I am on low dose medication for BP, it took a while to adjust it.
I’m going to be reading a LOT of product labels in the grocery store now, that’s for sure.
Yikes! Lifestyle and / or medication changes as you mentioned may be able to help manage. Are your eyes ok?
My eyes are fine, except for the fact that I can’t see a thing without my glasses. I had a rather comprehensive eye exam last summer.
I made it to Spring! Woo and Hoo! It was beautiful here, with temperatures in the mid 50s.
I attempted to wear Carven L’eau de toilette today, but it didn’t smell quite right to me. I am wearing YSL In Love Again instead.
I hope everyone has a good weekend!
Glad you survived this Winter! 😉
Glad you had a nice day, lilyjo! Happy Spring!
Ha, my feelings exactly — I was not sure how much longer I could take winter!
Yay Spring! Enjoy your Springy temps!☀️🌼
So glad your harsh winter is over. In love again is another JCE I adore but I don’t have it, I make do with Noa l’eau, a flanker, another apple, blackcurrant perfume, it is a softer version of ILA.
Yay to Spring!
SotD was not preceded by too much hemming and hawing: Champs-Élysées, the edp this time. I have and love all versions. I thought of peonies because although they bloom in the Summer, my very first peony sent up it purple shoots last week, so I have high hopes of fiiiiiiinally establishing one in my yard. I love them so. CE is a long-time favorite with me. Happy Spring all!
Peonies are so beautiful, congratulations on the new growth. My mom had a fushia pink one in the yard; it was gorgeous every year.
I sure hope that you *have* established a peony in your yard!
Peonies are to be cherished imo! And to have one in your own garden! Hope she blooms soon and long MB !
Hi, guys!! I can’t believe my luck!! My dream came true!! I’m so excited I am dancing and jumping right now. I had to share!!
I have always been looking at these Chanel #5 pure parfum bottles BUT the ones that are 1.2oz and are a spray. Here is the thing: these always go for hundreds and yes I could have gotten one long time ago but what stopped me from spending hundreds of dollars on it is that I can easily find Chanel #5 pure parfum bottles for much more reasonable prices that are the small, dabber kind. For example I can’t find Les Exclusifs 1932 for any less than way over $200 for used, right. So if I want to own 1932 (excluding the 4ml sample ones that are either EdP or EdT) in a bottle I KNOW I have to spend hundreds of dollars. But if I want to be able to use #5 parfum (which is my absolutely preferred strength) I know I can find the dabber ones anywhere from $50 on a good day to $150 for 15mls. And this is how I always got my #5 in parfum form.
But I always dreamed of having #5 parfum in this awesome 1.2oz spray.
Well lazily scrolling on went on one of the platforms and there is is… Half full 1.2oz spray for a VERY reasonable price. I almost choked on my coffee. That is still 0.6oz left in the spray bottle. I have never been faster checking out a purchase. I am pretty fast on my phone but I was so scared someone else will beat me by a half a second. But I got it!! I purchased it!! I’m so happy right now:)
I keep going to the purchase history on that platform and keep staring at my newest purchase. Seller has nothing but a million 5 star ratings and looks like they only sell authentic perfumes. The bottle is missing the cap but I could actually care less. I have many caps that will feet this bottle. I’m so super excited.
