It’s Hump Day and Rosa Parks Day. We are finally past the midpoint of winter! There are 44 days until the spring equinox, but only 24 days until the first day of meteorological spring. We can do this! Meanwhile, what fragrance are you wearing?
My idea of a winter sport: sauna (SheriG went with the same theme yesterday). I'm in Monocle + Comme des Garçons Scent One: Hinoki. If all goes to plan I'll be sweating it off in the sauna before the morning is out.
Reminder: 2/6 is the opening day of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Do absolutely whatever you like with the theme: scent a winter sport? Wear something Italian to celebrate the location? Wear something to support your country's team? Or, pick a fragrance to honor your utter lack of interest in sports, or winter, or both. (Suggested by LesLiesse.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning!! Hinoki sounds like the perfect fragrance for a sweat out.
Second that! Hinoki is definitely on my ‘to buy’ list. I only have Laurel so far. You smell wonderful, Robin. & this reminds me of my Russian friend, who has a dry sauna in her house (in LA) that smells so marvelous with those wood planks. Love visiting her in winter. Sometimes she even has birch branches so we can flog ourselves like true Russians. I don’t think there are birch trees in SoCal so not sure where she gets them. But I suppose that branches from almost any aromatic trees might work. But maybe birch branches have some resinous aromatic healing properties? Or maybe it’s just getting your skin tingling that is healthy.
Laurel is so lovely too though! And I don’t have that one.
I want a sauna in my house SO bad! It is my number one wish, at least, among those wishes which have any chance whatsoever of coming true 🙂
But the sauna at the Y makes me happy, so long as people are not in the sauna talking politics, which is luckily rare.
Politics in a sauna: ugh! 🫥
Politics at the Y: argh!
Hello.
Sotd is Givenchy Organza. They just don’t make perfumes like this anymore.
The new Muppets special on Disney+ is out! I am so excited. I love Miss Piggy so much, such a diva.
I love Miss Piggy too, and like her I learned French from the back of a perfume bottle 🙂
I had a customer attempt to be a bit unpleasant yesterday, and so today I chose perfume as body armour-Carnal Flower in shower gel, body butter, and EDP. I was lavish with the body products but sparing with the actual perfume but I can definitely smell myself.
Onward and upward, and roll on spring!
You smell wonderfully protected carole. I hope all your customers are pleasant today.
thank you, lilyjo-I know you deal with a lot of people too, in your job. Most people are nice. these types of transactions make you appreciate all the good interactions we normally have,
A pox upon those people. I’m sorry you have to deal with them and I’m glad that most people are pleasant.
That customer made me appreciate other customers so much.
That’s a lot of Carnal Flower🤣
Sorry to hear that you had a run-in with a grouch yesterday.
I’m in Chanel Boy. Revisiting some of the les exclusifs. I tried this one I believe shortly after it came out, can it be 10 years already?
I remember thinking at the time, and I am thinking it again, and this may sound weird but it reminds me of how opening a package of charmin smelled when I was a kid. I swear toilet paper used to be slightly scented and that is what Boy conjures up for me. Very pleasant and easy to wear. This would have worked well for last week’s cp.
It’s another sunny day here🌞, I will take it!
https://youtu.be/2dvI2m1_6_s?si=hO77bIUfml07bsOa
It did have a ” soft” scent.
Yay for sun!
omg, I knew you’d know!😂 wow, that commercial takes me back. Hope you are getting some sun too!
I had some sun yesterday. It’s mostly cloudy now. Next week is looking good though!
Madtowngirl, I think the Chanel perfumers might faint with horror at their haute creations reminding a customer of toilet paper, lol. While your impression might be spot on, it is definitely not the association they are hoping for.
Agree😊
lol, I am sure that they would! 🤣
I know exactly what you mean by “scented TP smell”. One of the Byredo perfumes did that to me.
okay! I am so glad someone else knew exactly what I meant.😆
Wearing Lorenzo Villoresi Teint de Neige for the CP.
Happy Wednesday! 🌻
Happy Wednesday!
Thank you, Lillyjo!
Nice to see you, PL67!
😊
Chanel Le Lion for Italy’s majestic Italian architecture.
A notable lion sculpture, often referred to as a “marvellous” or “mystery” lion, is located in the Piazza del Duomo, directly in front of the famous Milan Cathedral.
I love Le Lion, and you’ve given me ideas for Friday.
Oooo! Well I will wait to see what you come up with.
Also pairing with a Chanel lippy as I am eating lunch out with a friend. Chic!
Claiming double points today in Lorenzo Villoresi Teint de Neige (twins with PerfumeLover67 & waving madly!!) because not only is Mr. Villoresi an Italian perfumer but ‘neige’ means snow in French.
I really like LV’s perfumes (not to be confused with the other LV, Louis Vuitton) and I own Teint de Neige, Spezie, Donna, & Piper Nigrum. I’ve tried several of his others and want to test them all! Luca Turin really dissed this poor man in his Perfumes the A-Z Guide, which was quite unfair, as he is a very talented perfumer with a unique style that anticipated many later trends such as the powdery musk bomb of Teint de Neige. And Piper Nigrum is one of the most unusual and addictive fragrances I own with its mix of Tiger Balm mint, anise, black pepper (piper nigrum), amber, styrax, myrrh & vanilla.
Robin, I loved yesterday’s teapot illustrations. It’s a good thing I barely drink tea (I’m Team Coffee all the way and I know we’re outnumbered here) or else I’d be quite tempted by it.
Waving back to you, twin! We smell wonderful! I have not tried many of LV perfumes, but Yerbamate and Incensi are great scents.
You may be outnumbered by tea drinkers, but I am right there with you. I am pretty much all about coffee/espresso.
I agree LV is under appreciated. Donna is particularly gorgeous, and if someone were passing them out, I’d take Dilmun & Garafano too.
p.s. that ski print also comes in mugs for coffee and little cups for espresso! But none of them are bargains.
This morning I’m in Profumum Roma Arso. Profumum Roma is (obviously) Italian, and Arso is meant to evoke a roaring wood fire in a mountain chateau, which seems like a really nice place to be after a day on the slopes and a nice warm-up in the sauna.
Your description takes me right there, SheriG, and you smell marvelous. I really like the PR line, from what I’ve tried. They have a boutique in Los Angeles and I need to get myself there.
I love that Profumum does healthy-sized travel sprays. And their FBs (even though only available in 100 ml size, and who among us really needs that?) come with a screw-on top to make decanting easy, and a tiny refillable purse vial. So thoughtful.
Hi House Twin!
Hi! We smell great!
“Roaring wood fire in a mountain chateau,” sounds like the perfect locale for our next NST Conference!
It got a little too hot for my taste yesterday which I know sounds sacrilegious as so many are facing freezing cold temps, but still! 82F with blasting rays. 🔥 Thought about moving to higher elevation but I see it will slowly be cooling down over the next week to a more reasonable temperature. As alway, beautifully cool and starry at night! The skies are crystal clear and the moon so bright that it lights up the entire desert floor like a huge halogen bulb. The mountains to the west are back lit by the setting sun for what seems like hours as the glow slowly fades into darkness. Quiet as graveyard with just the occasional sound of a vehicle passing in the distance. I love listening to the silence.
Stay safe, warm, and smelling fab! I’m predictably in L’Essence. So boring and unimaginative but my brain is just too tired to think about other choices. Going to try to get on my bike for a bit today to see if I can shake off this lassitude. 🚲
Happy Hump Day🙂
I almost wore your fragrance today. It’s not boring to me in the least.
No, the fragrance is not boring in the least. I was referring to myself. 🙃
Oops🤣
Nighttime in the desert is so beautiful. I envy you.
I will happily swap my current 67F summer weather with your 82F winter weather
If lassitude was a fragrance, it would describe how I feel about the world in general.
Gorgeous description, Deva.
Your stargazing location sounds amazing. Been a while since I have seen the Milky Way.
In Profumum Roma Dincanto and heading out for a morning walk☀️
Hope it was a lovely walk allo! I look forward to it being warm enough for me to talk myself into a walk 😉
I look forward to that for you too, Robin!🤞☀️
I went with Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Winter Délice.
Two reasons: first, the name “winter delight” – all the festive, celebratory side of the Olympics.
Second, the Milano connection – Ambrose of Milan, the patron of Milan and beekeepers. There’s that legend about a swarm of bees settling on his face when he was a baby and leaving a drop of honey – a sign of a future “honeyed tongue.” And the bee is Guerlain’s emblem. 🐝❄️
A bit more about Ambrose and bees: https://aleteia.org/2019/10/09/the-meaning-of-bees-and-beehives-in-christian-art/
I absolutely LOVE Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Winter Delice. It is my favorite Guerlain and besides my huge love for Chanel, if I had to pick a favorite perfume that’s not a Chanel – Winter Delice would be it. I have a mini of it and am always on the hunt for a large bottle.
It’s amazing, isn’t it? It’s cozy and comforting, but at the same time those coniferous notes radiate some kind of warm energy.
Ambrose of Milan! Excellent, as always Glannys.
Someone mentioned winter citrus the other day. I decided to go with Leather Jardin as I only wear this in the winter. I think I would suffocate in it during the warmer months.
You smell lovely. I need to get my bottle out. I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of Italian samples and have been neglecting the rest of my perfumes. 🙂
I don’t have too many Italian scents so just went with the Leather Jardin. I haven’t been wearing it much this year.
I should get my bottle of Leather Jardin out during the next cold snap here. It’s safely stashed away in my closet now.
I haven’t seen you wearing it much this year either.
It’s been too warm for it most of the time. Stupid winter!
Wearing Cheirosa 62 today and filed my taxes today. The refund I am getting is going to be used for the crown that I need but have to fill out some health insurance forms before a crown can be done.
WOW, good for you Dawn! I have not even thought about it yet.
I was in the mood for carnation today, so I’m wearing Crabtree & Evelyn Carnation edt, in a big splash bottle, long discontinued. I binge-watched The West Wing over the past week, and I was struck by two things: How beautiful Rob Lowe was, and how the same issues from 20-25 years ago still confront America today.
Crabtree & Evelyn had some wonderful stuff back in the day.
Yes, it did.
Yes…rewatched a few seasons and they were all so YOUNG. And I remembered most of the story lines but had forgotten the tone, how young and earnest and hopeful they all were.
When I lived in France I used to do quite a bit of cross country skiing through beautiful forests where the silence was only broken by the sound of snow shushing off the branches. It was a very peaceful and serene environment and I loved seeing all the animal tracks. Biathlon is my favourite winter Olympic sport. I admire the way people can shoot targets and hold so still after such a hard workout. Wearing SL Parole which is a perfect winter forest scent: pine and citrus, and fresh.
Nice!
Excellent Kanuka. It is possible I would like cross country skiing but I have never tried, and I am not a fan of downhill at all.
Trying Nina Ricci Vénus today and notes are below. Kind of watermelony in the opening so far. 😅
This one has a cool bottle but don’t think reviews have been too favorable.
TOP NOTES
MANDARIN – MAGNOLIA LEAVES
HEART NOTES
MAGNOLIA – JASMINE
BASE NOTES
PATCHOULI – VANILLA
Do you like it? Or is it a miss for you too?
Venus was a miss! It reminded me of CK Escape.
The bottle is cool looking.
It’s a sunny day here at last! I’m wearing AG’s Ninfeo Mio. It’s a French house but the perfume is named after an Italian garden.
Oh- this is a good pairing
Yay, hope you got to enjoy the sun!
We are still warm here, so I have selected Aedes de Venustas the original one sent to me by a lovely nster.
Still wish they made travel size dammit.
Me too!!!
For the CP, 2005’s Ferre. A fruity, musky edp, but as one Fragrantica review noted, it is also a creamy iris. I got a partial bottle some time ago in a vintage Ebay lot of mostly blind buys. The bottle is lovely, a Serge Mansau creation of heavy glass. Not being sporty (and not have cable or streaming), I’ll miss most of the Olympics. But I do like the chance to dig out the Italian designers’ perfumes in my collection!
Me too. I was lamenting my lack of Italian perfumes and OMG, my perfume portfolio is full of Italians, perfumes, not men 🤣.
LOL! Same, but maybe I wouldn’t mind running into Kim Rossi Stuart in the grocery store, if our spouses were there too of course. 😇
🤣
Like the alliteration of “perfume portfolio”! Sounds classy, too.
Oh, I forgot I had that one! Thanks for reminding me. I think I will wear it on Friday. It reminds me of Iris Poudre.
I’m not really doing anything today. I made it up to season 5 of Mad Men. They mentioned a perfume account Chevalier Blanc. I don’t know if that was a real company or not.
I’m wearing 2 dabs of Chanel No.5 edt to match my sweatshirt and slippers look for the day.
I don’t think I’ve ever watched anything Mad Men! You smell good in No.5 EDT.
I do really enjoy the EDT.
Is today a day off for you?
We are sweatshirt and slippers twins!
It is. I took another vacation day because my daughter stayed home.
Still no school due to snow? Wow.
Well, you are smelling fabulous!
For the CP, I’m wearing Wild Coast Perfumery Jasper, as in Jasper, AB. And skiing. Maybe I’ll have to rewear some of my favourites among the Italian samples I’ve been wearing since Christmas (Antonio Alessandria and Menditorrosa). Not anywhere near Milan, but still Italian…
Italy seems good enough!
Frozen red fruits and yogurt smoothie
Have been falling asleep very early these past few days for a change (and waking up very early too), so must have skipped a week of commenting on NST. I wore white cube which always reminds me of Lillyjo and tonight Burberry Black which I still adore but doesn’t seem to get much love here, I first tried it at duty-free randomly and was so surprised to be taken with it instantly.
I’m glad you have been sleeping Aurora. You have been smelling great all day!
Thank you Lillyjo, it was a change of routine for sure but the upside I feel very rested. I think you like BB too, we must be the only ones here, it’s still going quite strong this morning. Hope your weather is going to be milder from now on.
Gotta agree with lillyjo. So many times I see you posting at a ridiculous hour in your time zone. Glad to hear that you have been getting decent sleep!
Thank you Jalapeno, I do feel rested. I was reading from last week and am sorry for your lack of snow, read about this terrible drought in the south western states in the NYT.
The drought isn’t just in the Southwest, either. Some places in the Intermountain West such as Wyoming, Montana and Idaho are also far too dry.
I don’t think I ever tried My Burberry Black, but you’re right it doesn’t get mentions! No matter if you love it.
It’s a traditional peachy amber, no nasty ambrox, rather sweet but not obnoxious, I would say one of the best from Francis Kurkdjian who is not a favorite with me usually. Still in production so you might end up trying it in future.
Not a favorite with me either, but you never know! Thanks.
SOTD = Prada Infusion de Fleur d’Oranger EDP
Got the idea from pfl67 as far as the line is concerned. Love it! I have so many of these (of the Infusion de whatever) and I pretty much love them all!
You could easily do a week of nothing but Prada Infusions, IIRC.
So true!
The Infusion line makes me think of you.
55 degrees here today. Should be in the low to mid 60’s tomorrow. I heard that Utah has the same miserable lack of snow that Colorado does earlier this afternoon. The two states can be rather intense as to who has the better snow and skiing.
Looking forward to seeing snowboarders, women’s hockey, and curling in the Olympics!
SOTD = Dior Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle, from the Sample Stash. I have a little bit left of this beauty in the spray vial.
I hear a thunk coming!
Maybe? I have had a few samples that refused to empty out in the past!
I think Michigan has to be the winner for best skiing this year. Lol.
You smell great! I should wear that when it warms up here. The cold seems to eat it up.
It’s either MI, upstate NY, or VT who won the snow lottery this year. Ski resorts in Colorado are cutting hours and staff positions due to lack of the white gold.
Folks are still holding out hope here that February, March and even April can come thru with some kind of precipitation.
We need the snow too. I see we will be in the 50’s most of the next week starting tomorrow.
Bet the farmers in your area are starting to worry…
I am so sorry you lack snow, and I am so sorry that ours won’t melt….
Wish we could swap snow! The sun out here would take care of it in a couple of days.
That’s the kind of weather Teflon enjoys, the only upside to this worrying long drought.
Tef definitely prefers milder temperatures to the cold snaps we have had in the past. She also appreciates “her” sunbeams.
