DS & Durga Let’s Dive ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 12 June 2024 7 Comments

Indie brand DS & Durga has launched Let's Dive, a new limited edition fragrance in collaboration with Project CETI, the "nonprofit organization committed to translating the communication of sperm whales using artificial intelligence and state-of-the-art gentle robotics".

Get your mates together for a dive among marine-rich waters, seaweed forests, and austere ambergris pieces. The first perfume named by whales!

We are proud to support Project CETI to further their critical research and community initiatives in Dominica.

***

"Getting to work with a real scientist that is expanding our understanding of our world, is something new and special to me. David Gruber gets in submersibles, shines light on sharks in the dark, and regularly hangs out with Sperm whales. We wanted to capture the serene feeling and scent of diving with whales in Dominica (where his whale buddies frequent).

It's oceanic and soft—ozonic and a meditation on one of perfume's true heroes: ambergris." — D.S.

The notes include marine water, seaweed extract, big whale energy, wooly rock rose, synthesized ambergris and choya nakh accord.

DS & Durga Let's Dive is available in 50 ml Eau de Parfum, $250.

A note of “big whale energy.” Now that deserves a 🙄
Although, on second thought, it’s kind of fun, too.

There was a wonderful article in the New Yorker about CETI last year. They are developing fish & sea turtle robots so they can collect data without disturbing the whales…guessing that’s what they mean by “gentle”? It does sound odd.

There is probably a paywall but in case:
