Woke at the crack of dawn because there’s usually a line around the building at Concentra. Opens at 8am, I’ve been here since 7am, and not another customer, just employees. Just my luck! 😩 And as a free “thank you for doing business with us” you can generally pick up some kind of viral illness while sitting in the waiting room with all the coughers and hackers. Fun!

Sotd is the new J’adore L’Or. I think it should’ve been called J’Alien, the jasmine or something gives a very similar “solar” scent/feel.

Wearing Bois d’hadrien, which I really love. Like a lot of the Goutal scents it’s different and wearable-I love their take on fragrances.

Today I’m in SL Chypre Rouge, which is half misnamed because it’s very rouge but not at all chypre. (In fact, if Lutens ever did a proper chypre, I’m not aware of it: there’s oakmoss listed in some of his scents, but none of them reads as chypre.) I love it endlessly, but it deserves a name that’s, if not more accurate, at least more Lutens-esque. If we’re wedded to the red, then Feu Rouge, or Lueur Rouge, or Cendres Rouges, I like that. Ange de Sève, perhaps, for all the tree sap and resin that’s in it. Or Tonnelle d’Hiver (“winter arbour”), because there is something wintry about it. Faïence Châtaignier, sounds pretty French. I could come up with a hundred of these and most would be duds but one of them would work, I bet.

Happy birthday to my beautiful mama, who I miss every day. I’m wearing some of her jewelry in her honor, and was looking for a perfume that would evoke her without being too close to one of her scents, but Biscuit picked out Traversée du Bosphore and was so excited by the thought of me wearing it that I had no other choice. I do think this one is aptly named, and also polite enough for the meeting I’ll be hosting in an hour. Picking up French pastries on the way as a thank-you to the little committee I convened for this work project.

I’m wearing Diorling, which I could call my birth anniversary perfume, as we both date to 1963. That was why I got a sample a few years ago, but I liked it so much that I went to some effort to get a FB of the current version in Paris earlier this year.

In a horrible mood when I don’t shower or have water to make my afternoon tea.
Not having water is always difficult. Definitely makes me appreciate our clean running water. I grew up in a rural area with a well that sometimes went out so I get it!

I’m wearing Ashoka because I wanted something smooth and calm. This has a green fig leaf and some soft woods that I find very beautiful. I don’t think I would name it ‘Ashoka’, but maybe something like ‘Kerala’ for the beautiful green tea plantations and the waterways in this southern area in India.

Guerlain Mon Guerlain EdP. Rich but light and long lasting? At least with one healthy spray on the wrist. I could not imagine wearing this in the summer. But right now when I need a heated blanket while I wfh, it’s really perfect.

My experience with Mon Guerlain EdP was “rich lavender/vanilla ice cream”. Definitely not a warm weather scent for me either.

I’m in Amouage Memoir Woman today because someone wore it yesterday, and I wanted to see if I could figure out a good name for it. My contenders are Winter Holiday, Winter Tapestry, Winter Cloak, or simply Tapestry. It definitely reads winter, warm, cozy, and spicy to me with its fruits, herbs, spices, and incense. I really love this one.
Yesterday I wore Mitsouko EDT from my barely touched bottle. I think I need to find some samples of current EDT and EDP and older vintage versions too. I looked up the batch code on my bottle (that I bought unsniffed in 2013), and it’s from 2011. From reading a couple sources online, pre-2014 was not a great time for modern Mitsy. And since it’s the only Mitsouko I’ve tried and I’ve never been wowed by it, I want to try the good stuff! I don’t get much peach at all from the version I have, and it doesn’t have much progression and settles into its dry down before very long. It’s a fine perfume but definitely not a great one. So I need to smell the great stuff. 😉

If you have L’Heure Bleue, I’ve heard that comparing them side by side (one on each wrist) should possibly illuminate the peach note in Mitsouko.
Oh, that’s a good idea. I actually thought yesterday that the Mitsouko I have smelled like L’Heure Bleu but not as good. 😂
It also probably didn’t help that over the weekend I tried two very peach-forward perfumes from LVNEA. So I really felt that missing peach in Mitsy.
It’s my experience that the peach note in vintage Mitsouko isn’t always easy to detect.
I’ll be looking to try some EDP soon so I can get more peach!
Wearing Arquiste Architect’s Club, which is a really light skin scent that has a slightly vanillic papery smell, like a book. It is more book-like than Byredo Bibliothèque. I need to go respray though because I can barely smell it.

SotD Aura edt layered over the Aura body cream. The tart rhubarb and and vanilla is fun to compare with yesterday’s soft sweet plum and spices in Eau de Velours – both are very wearable for me.

Yes, and I was going to mention that they are as good as a light spritzing of perfume on their own. I’m on my second jar of Aura, love the Over the Musk, and (as an Angel fan) even found Angel lotion too strong! I wonder if they will be as good under the new regime?!?

Good for you. Have you tried ChatGPT? To date, I had only used the free version for a cover letter which I had to heavily edit (as we were warned would happen).
It’s a tad messy for resumes that are going through ATS for certain keywords.
And I didn’t have the patience to edit. It was easier to zelle the person money to do it.
On the whole, I think ChatGPT will be great in another years time.

Regarding settings, I use an iPhone and I swear that settings have changed as well and it’s not me who did them!
It’s been many years since anyone in my family has used professional movers. Most of the moves I have done since 1989 have been DIY.
I could swear that I didn’t mess with my settings either! Why would I crank up the volume on notifications?? It’s a puzzlement.
I’ve found that if my phone does updates, sometimes there are settings that do get changed. Glad you’re getting things done.

All liquids, I think. Laundry detergent and bleach have been mentioned since I specifically asked about those.
