It's Monday and Creamsicle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm on vacation at the lake: perfume here is a huge mistake, you'll just make the mosquitoes happy. So I'm doing fantasy perfume wearing this week. Today, for one of my favorite salad ingredients, pomegranate, I'll pretend I'm in Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir.
Reminder: on 8/18, wear a fragrance that features a note that you might eat in a salad, or that you might grow in a vegetable garden...carrot? tomato? basil? rhubarb?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Pomegranate: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Flickr Friends [doubled] by ~jar{} at flickr; some rights reserved.
Based on my experience, some perfumes actually seem to scare mosquitoes away. I hope your vacation goes well!
I am wearing Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Écarlate, since rhubarb is used in salads, although I must confess I have never had a salad with rhubarb in it.
Considering my love for oil-lemon dressing, I could do a whole week of lemon scents for this CP. 😀
Lemon is a great idea!
I am sure that is true, but they are bad this year…no time to experiment!
Hope you are having a wonderful time, Robin!
I have a couple of CP ideas for this week but it’s rainy and cool today, so Serge Gris Clair called my name. I guess some people enjoy lavender tea, but that’s a stretch.
It’s supposed to be a real soaker here today. Stay dry!
I’d sell my soul for some rain right about now…
I’m wearing Demeter Beetroot.
I bet Demeter has a lot of fragrances for this CP.
Perfection and on my fantasy list for the week!
I’m doing fruit salads this week, and kicking it off with Mure et Musc this morning.
Lots of little tasks to do, which will add up to a day in the life. 😂
Fruit salad works! Hope you got everything done.
Sweltering heat on the way today and tomorrow, so I’ll probably be scenting myself with tiny spritzes of Paris-Deauville or Cristalle. P-D is CP compliant with its basil note, and I often make salad dressing with lemon juice instead of vinegar so Cristalle also works for the CP. But right now, while the windows are all wide open and the inside temperature is still in the mid-70s, I have a tiny bit of Hindu Kush on my wrists. Incense works pretty well for me in the heat.
Stay cool SheriG! Cristalle is perfect.
Clinique Wrappings. In the mood for that mad explosion of aldehydes. I’ve already reapplied it once just to get that supernova flash, and there will probably be another spritz later. It’s intoxicating.
You smell beautiful, Wrappings reminds me of Jalapeno.
Wrappings is so good!
I am wearing Comme des Garçons 2 Man today.
I did not think about cp this morning.
But according to fragrantica this has a mint note. Well, mint is nice in a salad with watermelon and feta cheese. ☺️
Num! I am going to have feta-and-cucumber salad for lunch.
You smell wonderful!
I’m starting the CP week in Perfumer H Rhubarb (though like Glannys, I have never had it in a salad).
“Inspired by the vegetable patch in my grandmother’s walled garden…”
– Lyn Harris
PSA: TIINA the Store, a boutique in the hamptons, is closing and has their stock of Perfumer H on sale for 50% off online.
Wish they had Smoke, that’s the one I’m interested in the most. The others are too expensive to blind buy, tempting as they are.
Thank you!
I forgot about the details of this week’s CP and thinking only carrot scents were allowed, I promptly chose a scent without any salad ingredients. I’m wearing L’Esprit libre by Divine and loving it.
I foresee quite a few melon-centric salads for the remainder of this week.
Melon works. Meanwhile, always nice to see a mention of Divine.
Running through inside tasks since we have a rainy day outside. One of my few sampled-then-sought-it perfumes, TF Black Orchid Voile de Fleur. I always enjoy plum and honeysuckle notes, and the other florals give it some vintage heft though it is quite sweet.
I love Voile de Fleur and rarely see it mentioned. It’s one of the few gardenias that work for me. It does smell vintage-y.
For the CP, I am wearing L’Artisan Piment Brulant, which smells only like fresh cut green bell peppers to my nose, which is a vegetable that I frequently add to my salads. I have never been able to detect any cacao, dark, chocolate, vanilla, or any other notes listed. It a favorite refreshing perfume for hot summer days.
On my second cup of coffee and having a very busy back to work day, which I appreciate.
Happy Monday, everyone! 🌻
I have been hit and miss on here lately so I don’t believe I have offered my condolences to you. We all have been thinking about you.
Hope work will help you as you continue to journey through the loss of your mother.
Hugs my dear.
Thank you, Kris. I really appreciate it. 🌻
Maybe you will smell the other notes in winter weather?
I hope today goes smoothly but keeps you busy enough that you sleep well tonight. 🌻
I have tried it in winter, and it keeps smelling the same to me. It has happened for years, so I just quit on it and wear it only in summertime.
I hope insomnia gives me a break tonight. By the time I finally fall asleep, it is time for me to get up again. It is very hard, so I hope now that I am back to work I am tired enough to sleep better. 🤞
Have a lovely productive day today, sometimes our work is a blessing.
Thank you, Aurora. I think that this is the first time that I appreciate my work more than usual.
Have a good day back at work!
Thank you, Austenfan. 🌻
Happy Monday to you too, smelling good today (like every day.) I just get green bell peppers from Piment Brulant, too, but I like it.
Thank you, Ringthing 🌻.
I am glad I am not the only one who smells peppers on Piment Brulant. I think it is a nice and unique scent. Great for summer!
I hope your work day is busy in a good way!
I think L’Artisan has many good scents for this week’s CP.
Thank you, Tulipani. 🌻
I have to check all my L’Artisan perfumes and see what I can find for this week’s cp.
I remember that fragrance! It came in a little 3-set, but I can’t remember what the other ones were. I got mostly dried, hot peppers from PB, plus some green peppers.
I hope your busy days ahead will lead to better sleeping in the nights ahead.
Thank you, AnnE. I hope is a better night tonight.
I wish I could smell more than peppers from PB. Some reviews say the chocolate vanilla and hot pepper notes makes PB a sweet foodie scent. Glad for those who can smell most of the notes in it!
Wow, that’s so far from my experience. To me, it smelled sharp yet arid at the same time, if that makes any sense.
Off CP today in the last remnants of Casmir. I’ll probably be commando after my shower just because my mind (and body) is in a state of inertia. A balmy 110 forecast here today. Feeling myself descend into a state of psychomotor retardation…😵
On the flip side, I’m lounging in a very comfy bed, A/C on full blast, doggo is chasing her Kong toy around like a maniac, and I just discovered a new mystery series that takes place in the EXACT location of my bucket list trip next year! So, I’ll be listening to the first book in the series while the A/C rattles, whines, and gasps trying to meet my need for an Arctic breeze. If anyone has read/listened to this series, let me know your thoughts…
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/24/dining/martin-walker-bruno-chief-of-police-perigord.html
I’m also having second thoughts about the bucket trip next year. I’m thinking I may need to do it this year…🇫🇷
Smell well, y’all!
I’m excited for your trip! Will T-rex be able to go?
Nope, doggo will not be going. Honestly, this is the biggest hurdle- trying to find a kennel where I feel comfortable leaving her for a couple of weeks. I’ve only left her in a kennel a couple of times because I had to be hospitalized and it was rather emergent. I have to store Biggie Smols somewhere safe, too. It’s not easy finding indoor storage…I’m afraid to leave him in an outdoor storage lot due to theft/break in potential. The real reason I planned this for next year is because I need to coordinate all of this with one of a handful of specific airports to depart from…and I’m not great at these kind of details…all in all, this trip may stay in the bucket if I can’t work all this out. 😬
Hope you can make it happen Deva, at least you have audio books 😀.
Oh that is a lot to think about.
I’ve read the entire Bruno series (new one out soon, yeah!!). Hope you enjoy them as much as I do….and yes to a trip at anytime!
I’ve read them all too, and the food, cooking, and menus are all so luscious sounding and spontaneous!
Good to know! I started listening and then five seconds later I was sawing logs! Thanks to you both.
110?!? 🥵 Sure hope that AC keeps plugging away.
Thanks for the book recommendation!
Back to the dentist today for a little more work on my crown. Thought I better wear something light so am in JD Musc Neutre again.
Have a good week everyone!
Hey Kris, did you ever sample the Vanilla Orchid? I saw it comes in a 50ml now.
Good luck at the dentist!
Yes, I did sample it and did not care for it. I shouldn’t be surprised as anything with vanilla in the title probably won’t work for me.
Hey guys. My work was a victim of an elaborate scam that lost us a lot of money. It has also lost us another employee ( the person who fell for the scam) now corporate is really coming down on us. Scammers are heartless evil people. I want to share this so you all can be aware to be careful who you come in contact with, and to talk to your loved ones about scams.
I’m feeling a bit down today but am boosting my mood with perfume. I am wearing Chance eau Vive. I also used my Tree Hut body scrub in Watermelon, which is very fun and smells like summer.
Scammers are multiplying faster than mice! What kind of scam, if you’re able to say..? I feel bad for your co-worker, assuming he/she was also an innocent victim of the scammer. I don’t understand why they would fire someone for that? “Feeling. Bit down” twins with you today. We will prop each other up and get through it! 👍🏼
They didn’t fire her. She quit. It involved the scammers posing as management and redirecting funds. All done from out of the country. I don’t have all the details but it’s sad.
Oh no! That’s horrible but this kind of thing will get worse. I know ransomware attacks on hospitals have cost tons of money not to mention have directly compromised patient care and are a real threat to life. It’s very sad but also enraging. Sometimes anger can be the best motivator for change. When I think of people doing this kind of 💩 I get very, very angry…
That’s really shocking!
https://youtu.be/xdq9B7OZ01s
Look what you made me think of! Lol
Like a fire–burns a lot. I am sorry. Thinking of you and sending hugs!
Thank you OF. These people are awful. I did just read though that a couple have been extradited to face charges in the death of someone they had scammed.
Oh geez, a death?! How heartbreaking. I hope your poor coworker manages to recover from this.
I do too. I think she’s still in shock from it all.
Thanks for sharing Lillyjo, it does seem to occur more frequently. You really like Eau Vive, I don’t remember testing it, the one I know in the series is Eau Tendre.
Eau Vive is the best of the Chance flankers imo. It’s grapefruit and orange but still perfumey. Lol. It’s just happy smelling and one of my few repurchased bottles.
Thank you very much for the mini review, it sounds lovely.
That sounds great! I may have to sample it, even though Chanel doesn’t usually work for me. Happy grapefruit and orange? I can get behind that.
I really can’t wear a typical summer cologne so it works great for me in the heat.
What a mess, lillyjo, no wonder you are down today. Thanks for posting this. Hope you are feeling better soon, hugs.
Thank you ringthing.
That’s so sad and frustrating. Unfortunately the downside of technology is it’s easier for these scams to operate.
It’s really sad.
I need to try that fragrance. I did years ago, and I think I liked it. Of course, it seems as almost anything from Chanel is pretty good.
I like the scrubs from Tree Hut as well. I have been using Tropical Mango this summer. Not my favorite, but it’s ok.
I just ordered the new Apple one. I hope I like it.
The pumpkin spice latte s ibis fab, too!’
So sad about your criminal attack. I still have pangs remembering several clients of my employer who came for help after they were lured into money transfer schemes. It is good to talk to everyone you know and warn them *never* to respond to a phone call about bank accounts, other assets, or prizes or gifts. Just hang up and directly contact your institution with a local number or a number printed on your last statement if there is any concern.
Sometimes I get odd texts from ” my bank” I never reply. I call my bank immediately.
Yeah, that management scam is one that our corporate fraud / phishing training talks about. If done well, I can see where it would be easy to fall for.
We train our front line to look for evidence of scams when customers come in, and it’s heartbreaking to hear some of the stories.
I bought a gift card the other day and the clerk asked me questions such as ” did anyone pressure you to pay them with a gift card? Everyone has to be mindful now.
Maybe cringe is a woke word but I’ll use it anyway. It makes me wonder how sophisticated they’re getting! Would you rather a grab and run in the open (and possibly impact life-safety) or the more covert version of pretending to be management?
Well.. safety would have to come first. However, people who get scammed ( some out of their life savings!) sometimes feel so bad or embarrassed that they have compromised their own safety. These are awful awful people.
lillyjo, I’m sorry to hear that, how awful for everyone. Except the perps. I hope that they receive just punishment.
I hope so too.
I am in Chaubad Chic et Boheme, a light summer chypre which I bought blind because I liked the name, when I was just starting on my little Boho house decor obsession. Fortunately, it is crisp and pretty and I enjoy it very much- one of my lucky blind buys…
And it contains Mandarin Orange as a note, so I am accidently CP compliant, as well! I love putting mandarin orange slices in steak salad, it cuts the tallow on your tongue, and I read somewhere that eating Vitamin C with red meat reduces deleterious oxidative effects, and it just tastes great.
We have a cloudy warmish Monday today, and I am trying to get caught up on bills, etc, postponed laundry, and the ever present pile of dishes that for one reason or another don’t go in the dishwasher. I am seriously considering just getting rid of anything that won’t go in the dishwasher…a quick way to reduce repetitive chore time, yes?
Stay safe and well, everyone. Public Service note – the hospital in Ann Arbor is encouraging people to wear masks again all the time – the new COVID strain is spreading rapidly, and air conditioning systems, and hot air blower hand dryers have been found to spead virus particles more effectively that expected. Get your boosters, wear a mask around other people, can’t hurt, might help…although the last booster I got really knocked me out for several days, unlike the one before that I barely noticed…
Adorable hubby continues weekly infusions, and has more scans scheduled for next month – if these show additional mass shrinkage, with no evidence of any spreading, he may be moved from the “1 year 9% survival group” to the “possible candidate for surgery and cure” group. What a roll-a-coaster year this has been, so far!
I missed your posts about your husband, but am celebrating with you–or holding my breath with you, I suppose–his diligence and the results! Hoping fervently you can get off the roller coaster and onto the merry-go-round soon.
I am wishing the very best for your husband.
Also… I never trusted those automatic hand dryers.
That last sentence had me laughing so hard I almost fell of the bed.😂
Cholangiohepatocarcinoma is a word that starts people saying, “I am so sorry” to before you have even finished your sentence.
Now all the doctors keep saying, “You are having a really remarkable response to the treatment,” as if they don’t believe that he really is not having nausea and vomiting and debilitating exhaustion in response to the chemo, some of which is the sort that the nurses put on additional layers of protection before they turn the knob that starts the flow of whatever it is into him.
But people keep talking about getting the surgery scheduled before the scans are done, so I just don’t know what to think. So I have eaten more icecream in the last three months than I have had in the past 5 years….ice cream is the answer to everything these days. 🙂
Navigating through any kind of illness is scary but I think cancer especially is supremely difficult, for so many reasons. Black and white are not easily distinguished, and the “medical speak” in general is confusing to patients. Hearing things that seem to conflict from different providers, or conflict with what you may be seeing and experiencing is enough to make you dizzy. Do you have any contact with a cancer support group or a patient advocate in your area? Both can be a helpful (and knowledgeable) support as you continue forward.
Hoping your husband and you get good news.
I like Chabaud too, Lait Concentré is very comforting although a little simplistic, it does smell like French Gloria concentrated milk.
I hope your Adorable Hubby gets the very best of optimistic results. 🤞🏼
I hope you receive great news soon and thanks for the news about the plague. Over the weekend, I spoke with one and heard about another friend having covid.
Sending all the positive vibes for you and your husband!
May your husband have the very best outcome!
I am so happy your husband’s cancer has had such a wonderful response to chemo! And I am sure it has been a roller coaster year for you.
Sending your husband best wishes as he goes through the chemo. Let’s pray for a good outcome. Thinking of you and thanks for your report. Take care of yourself as well.
Fingers crossed for your husband and you. And keep eating ice cream! 😀
Wishing your husband all the best.
I hope your hubby continues in this great trajectory.
I love that name, too, as well as the house’s name. So French!
Great news on your husband! 🙌🏻 Will keep sending good vibes through the rest of the chemo and beyond.
So glad to see an update on Mr. Meredifay. Fingers crossed.
Very excited that at 9:45 AM we are at 68 degrees with the forecast for a high of 78. Bring on the heat! Celebrating in Mizensir’s White Neroli. I’ll give this week’s salad days CP a think though.
Woo-hoo! Enjoy the Temps!
🌞
You may have my heat. It’s supposed to be 104 here today.
Had another appointment today and one tomorrow. Right now, I am just going to be chilling the rest of the day. I know that I need to vacuum but I don’t want to do it. Wearing no 5 edt today and was hoping that today was going to be the day that I would thunk that bottle but it wasn’t.
Soon, I am sure
The dust will be there whenever you’re up to dealing with it.
Warm day over here, so sitting in front of a fan as well as a cooler, and spritzing Eau Dynamistante from the fridge. No promises about feeling dynamic, though
Eau Dynamisante is such a great chypre.
To anybody who would like to see where I spent every September in France, check out the video Robin posted, A Wild Beauty, it shows Nyons where my brother has a house. It makes me long to be there already.
I started the day in Coriandre parfum de toilette, fresh coriander is used in salads, I have little minis of vintage Coriandre but scared their glory will spoil the older but not vintage PDT I’m using. Tonight it’s the turn of Réminiscence Héliotrope which I think is my favorite Les Notes Gourmandes or perhaps it’s Dragées.
I would love to be there right now!
It looks like a beautiful place Aurora.
The video captures the place really well.
Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche
We are house twins!
Wearing Tubéreuses Castanes right now, not big on vegetal notes but I’ll have a look around. Might end up with just fruit salad. 🙂
The Maison Lancôme perfumes were so good, I’m sure you smell great.
I am not big on vegetable notes either.
Dreading the heat this week. I just don’t do very well when it’s above about 82F. But I put on some Chypre Mousse, and its mossy minerals are making me feel cooler.
A great choice.
I saw on my weather that the heat is moving my way next week. Hopefully it leaves you alone for awhile.
I’m in “Spicy Cajun Jungle,” according to Biscuit, also known as Dasien Summer — cilantro and grapefruit, weird and wonderful.
That sounds weird and wonderful!
SOTD is Molecule 01 + Mandarin. Perfect choice for a California garden. My miniature Meyer lemon tree that almost died after a heat wave in the early Spring is showing signs of life, after much much babying. I was thrilled to spot 5-6 shoots of leaves emerging. It previously only had about 3 leaves hanging on for dear life since April!
I hope everyone has a great week ahead.
I’m afraid mine is and truly dead—fried after our extended extreme heat. We’re hearing that trees all over our area are getting very stressed by the heat and drought.
I’ve been noticing a lot of the trees here turning brown, too.
Don’t give up yet, continue to water! Mine is in a pot, so I was able to move it to a slightly less searingly hot spot.
I’m wearing Amouage Honor Woman today for the rhubarb note. In Michigan many people grow it in their vegetable garden.
Robin, your pomegranate fragrance is giving me an idea for later this week!
Oh good!
Nomenclature Minted today for a cool mint note in this hot weather. I have rather too much mint in my garden right now…but I have a mint chocolate ice cream recipe teed up to deal with it. 🙂
Oh yay! Mint chocolate chip has been my most-eaten ice cream this summer, after barely eating it for years.
Given that pretty much anything edible can be put in a salad, I should have lots of choices, but instead I’m wearing 1000. I’m in the mood for a perfumey perfume.
Gotta do what you gotta do 🙂
Mille is Proper Perfume (with a capital P!). You smell very sophisticated.
SOTD = 4160 Tuesdays Fluffy Lemon Top EDP

Lately on IG, I keep seeing pre-orders of “traditional” Advent Calendars, from whiskey to bourbon, jam jars but no perfumes or cosmetics as yet. Today took on a horrifying twist to the whole advent calendar scenario – a countdown to Halloween. I believe it’s a 13-day countdown. Seriously? I posted a picture on my stories as I don’t want it to linger longer than necessary!
Too early for halloween and way too early for advent! I don’t want to see any holiday stuff until after Labor Day.
You do smell fantastic though!
I really do not like Halloween. I have noticed that it is becoming a bigger holiday ( in the stores) than in the past.
A Halloween kind of advent calendar? That is a “No, no” for me. No way to mix the concept of an advent calendar with other holidays, at least for me.
Today I sprayed lavishly from my bottle of CDG Nomad Tea. Some of the sweetness seems to be mitigated with a lot of sprays, which is just what I wanted! Note for the CP is Artemisia, which I have an odd liking for in fragrances. I’m going to have to top up a little, but not as much, since I’m not alone now.
