Happy Almost-Friday! It’s also Towel Day (for interstellar hitchhikers) and Geek Pride Day. Literary birthdays: Ralph Waldo Emerson, Raymond Carver, W. P. Kinsella, Jamaica Kincaid. RIP Tina Turner. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in a dab of Tauer Perfumes L’Air du Désert Marocain.
Reminder: on 5/26, we're celebrating National Paper Airplane Day. Wear a fragrance inspired by air travel, or with "air" in the name, or do whatever you like with the theme, the sillier the better.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I got nuthin’ for the CP this fine Thursday. Was looking for my bottle of Riviera Verbena to pull out as the weather warms up. Couldn’t find it, but I spied a bottle of Henri Bendel Orange Blossom & Tuberose. So fresh and pretty! Clean.
I’m finding my nose detects florals well, but I need to test on other scents to find the ones I can’t detect. That list seems longer than it was in the past. Age and/or allergies?
I’m sure that’s true for all of us…as we age we’ll smell less.
I was going to borrow Zoologist Moth as a flying thing, from thegoddessrena yesterday, but it’s our 39th wedding anniversary so vintage Coco it must be. At least I have a CP choice for tomorrow.
Medical bills are wearing us down, so this is a low-key anniversary, grilled shrimp on the patio and a camp fire. Sounds good to me 😊
Happy Anniversary, Ringthing! 🥂
Your low key celebrations sound just right-hoping the medical bills ease off.
My SOTD is Hermes Gallop, which I love and always wonder why I don’t wear it more often. Haven’t made a dent in my bottle in six years.
Happy anniversary! That actually sounds like a lovely way to celebrate.
Happy anniversary, ringthing! You smell absolutely divine in vintage Coco.
Happy Anniversary! Vintage Coco is divine! You will smell glorious!
Happy anniversary, enjoy the celebration, you’ll smell great.
♥ Happy anniversary!
39 is an achievement! Have a lovely evening.
Happy anniversary to you, I hope you enjoyed the celebration. It sounds relaxing and sweet.
Happy 39th Anniversary ringthing! That is truly impressive.
I’m sorry about the medical bills, but that anniversary celebration sounds wonderful. Congratulations!
Belated happy anniversary! Hope it was wonderful.
Wearing La Perla La Mia Perla Nera from a freebie sample received from a generous NSTer.
This week has been very rough so far. My mother’s health has deteriorated badly and the pressure at work is also mounting. Handling everything at the same time is overwhelming, even with my sister’s help. God will keep providing.
The temperature dropped significantly last night. It is 55 degrees right now and very windy. But it is bright and sunny, which I really appreciate.
On my second cup of coffee and looking forward to the long holiday weekend.
Happy Thursday! ☕️
It’s 49 here and I am thinking about turning the heat back on.
I’m so sorry about your Mom’s health. I wish your work would give you a break.
I’m so sorry about your mom’s health. The fact that there is work pressure on top-I’ve been there, and I’ll keep some good thoughts for you. looking after people is very rewarding and very draining-I think it’s the most important work there is.
Sorry to hear about the combo stress & anxiety about your mother and work. Hope the long weekend provides some relief.
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom, pl67. And work on top of everything else. Prayers for your strength.
Sending supportive thoughts your way, to get through this. Here’s hoping that the work stress can let up a bit so that you can focus on your mom.
Sending you love, friend. Hope you get some good rest this long weekend <3
Hoping for moments of peace and rest for you in the midst of all the pressures you’re facing.
Sending hugs! That’s a lot all at once for you; hope there can be some good moments of gentleness to restore you.
P67, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom, sending you hugs (Fendi-scented)…
Hoping pressure of work will ease out.
So sorry to hear about your mom. Sending you prayers and hugs. Sure doesn’t help with pressure at work either. Hang in there PL67.
I hope you get a break from work stress so you can get some rest and spend time with your mum. Sending lots of love
Thinking of you, PL67. Hugs.
Sending out peaceful thoughts for you. I hope you can have a few moments of rest this weekend.
I’m sorry to hear about your mother, and that work is adding to the stress.
More hugs and good wishes, pl67.
I’m so sorry to hear about the bad timing and stress, sending you lots of fortifying hugs!
I am so sorry to hear about your dear Mom’s rapidly declining health. Additional stress at work makes it even worse. Hugs and my best wishes for you and your sister.
🙏 for strength and peace and a restorative weekend.
I hope that pretty perfume brings you some moments of lovely respite. You’re dealing with a lot — “bon courage,” as a French friend used to say.
Thinking of you and so happy that you’ll have extra time away from work!
Sorry for your compounded stress. I hope work can give you a break soon. Thinking of you.
I’m in Batucada today, which I like well enough to own a full bottle.
You smell great PriscillaE!
Today I’m in CSP Vanille Peach, which is not particularly peachy, but is extremely pleasant, a bit angular and emphatic where its cousin Vanille Abricot is perfectly smooth and rounded.
I should buy one or the other.
You should! I would hate to ever be without Vanille Abricot, which is a perfect little gem of sunshiny happiness, a good mood in a bottle.
Well my professor graded our tests overnight so I already have my score. I got above a 100, since he is very generous with extra credit. A big boost to my serotonin today. Thank you everyone who wished me good luck!
I’m in Paprika Brasil today, one of my favorite summer perfumes. Smells like a mirage, the shimmer of heat.
Have a great day!
Congratulations! over 100 is a very special mark
Congratulations! Enjoy your day.
Wow, that’s great!
Congrats! Good news!
Good for you!
Hey genius, congratulations!
Well done, you!!
🙌🙌 👊 👏
Hurray! AND you smell great.
Congratulations and well done!
Habit Rouge Rouge Privé.
It has been a pleasant surprise after the utter disappointment that was last year’s Habit Rouge L’Instinct. It sits squarely between the Eau de Toilette and the Eau de Parfum while feeling resolutely modern.
The tanned leather note, more pronounced than in either the EdT or the EdP, pairs wonderfully with the smoky orange blossom in the heart. And it lasts and lasts, on skin as well as on fabric.
I wish they would make it a permanent addition to the lineup. This is the true “Intense” version of Habit Rouge, not the execrable L’Instinct.
Execrable is a great word, especially to describe an off putting perfume.
Spotted my decant of Vivacious today, so that’s my sotd.
As for Towel Day, got an email this morning from Le Blanc that their towel washes are 25% off. Normally don’t splash out for expensive detergents, but their summer verbena towel wash is really nice.
That sounds really nice!
Sticking with my version of the CP today in Apartment’s Wait Right Here, which I had to fly to Cape Town to buy. Having lovely memories of my time in South Africa!
Wearing Gris Charnel edp today and going to the natural history museum. It’s cheap fun. One can’t beat a $10 admission.
I love natural history museums
My daughter isn’t feeling well today so I am staying home with her this morning and will have to make up my time by working tonight. I am currently wearing Jimmy Choo body lotion. I have a couple of sprays left of the perfume and haven’t decided yet if I will put any on. I know I am the only one, but I love this perfume.
A few days ago I had an idea for tomorrow’s cp. I sure wish I could remember what it was. Lol.
I hope your daughter feels better soon!
Healing vibes to your daughter and enjoy the lotion, no judgement for perfume loves.
I hope your daughter feels better soon and your night goes quietly at work. I’m sure that Angels could give paper planes a run for their money.
I hope your daughter is feeling better already and that you have an uneventful evening at work!
I liked the OG Jimmy Choo perfume too, but thought that it smelled similar to something I already had when it came out. But that bottle was so tempting!
Hope your daughter feels better soon.
Small plug: I still have slots open for a couple of Chanels in the splitmeet! Still looking for Bois des Iles parfum split partners
Today I am in Nez 1+1 Ambre a Levres which I learned about from NST. I have to overspray this one as it is fleeting, but SO SO gorgeous. A perfect iris violet makeup accord, a touch of leather on a lightly sweet amber-resinous base. Love it so much.
Wearing Narcisse Noir and wishing I had a little Vol de Nuit for tomorrow…
I’ll wear it tomorrow for both of us. I could even wear two different versions of it for double points, and you can have half.
Works for me!
Narcisse Noir – you smell fabulous!
I’ve been on a Paris-Deauville bender since yesterday afternoon, and my very tenuous connection with the CP is that I would most likely fly to visit either Paris or Deauville. 😉
Sprayed my sample of Paris Venise for the first time yesterday–pretty! At least the Eaux come in a more manageable size now, would like to try a few others in the lineup.
I had the same thought about manageable sizes, and bought the smaller bottle of Deauville … and regret it now! There’s just no winning sometimes. 🤣
You smell wonderful!
Something in Paris-Deauville reminds me of vintage Chanel Cristalle edt. Gorgeous juice, albeit fleeting…
Yes! Right now Deauville has the lead, but it and Cristalle EDT regularly leap-frog each other in my affections.
Good to know I wasn’t the only person who smells the similarity! I am so bummed Cristalle is rare as hen’s teeth. I loved both the EDP (honeyed/floral) and EDT (citrus/chypre).
Paris-Deauville is reminiscent of Cristalle? Maybe that’s why I liked it when I sniffed the first three Eaux.
I wore that yesterday. I particularly like it when it is very warm outside.
Continuing my week of roses in Galop today, my decant sadly nearly empty now due to evaporation. This is one of my alpha-woman roses, along with Portrait of a Lady and Une Rose, PoaL being alpha-with-impossible-hauteur and Une Rose being alpha-and-utterly-elegantly-self-contained. To my nose, Galop is alpha-and-wearing-bronze-breast-plate-with-flowing-pre-Raphaelite-hair-and-billows-of-red-silk. Alas, I’m more conventionally attired.
Your description of Galop is so evocative!
Galop d’Hermès is one of my favourites but I wear it so rarely. I feel it is too special, too precious for me to waste it by wearing it casually. It demands a proper occasion.
I was able to get a bottle for well below retail price a few years ago and I also have one of the generous 4 ml samples from Hermès in its own little box.
Galop is gorgeous!! The leather in it is sublime.
Only two spots left in my Zoologist travel spray split! We must fill them both for the second box split to occur.
I’m wearing Angel’s Share because I wanted something a little bit boozy. I can’t believe it’s almost Memorial Day. I have five books on hold that are ready for library pickup so you know what I will be doing this weekend.
A weekend reading sounds perfect.
Fine, twist my arm.
I would like to thank everyone who wrote their condolences and words of inspiration to me when I posted on here about my father passing away. Everyone is so nice on NST.
Tomorrow is the funeral and I am hoping my family and I are strong enough to get through it without losing it.
I am wearing Kai perfume oil today.
I hope you and your family have a day full of peace, love and strength tomorrow. Sending more comforting hugs.
Sorry to hear about your father, may his memory be for a blessing.
Barqs, I’m so sorry. Plus, if you can’t lose it at a funeral, where can you? No one will judge someone who is grieving. Sending you hugs and strength.
You will be in my thoughts Barqs.
Thinking of you tomorrow, may it be healing.
You will get through the day just fine and it is ok if you lose it. You loved your dad so don’t worry about it.
We will be thinking of you.
I hope you get some comfort and feel a lot of love and support at your father’s funeral. There is no shame in grieving, ever.
I’ll be thinking of you.
I grew up in a funeral home. my grandparents lived upstairs.
From the time I was small I watched families come together, fall apart, remember good times, hold each other close or not speak at all.
The good people at the funeral home want you to do what’s best for you. So you do you, and however you chose to meet this important and needed rite of passage will be just fine.
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts like so many others here.
“Not all tears are an evil”. If you need to cry at the funeral, you can. No one will judge you.
Sending thoughts of strength for you tomorrow.
Wishing you peace, and a lovely service tomorrow.
If anyone loses it, you will all be facing it together. We will all be thinking of you Barqs.
Sending my condolences, Barqs.
Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, my SOTD is vintage Fendi’s Life Essence, woods, greens, and herbal aromatics. One of my favorites from the line, and I’m glad to wear it from time to time, it’s so comforting.
Good to see you back, SmokeyToes! 👋🏻
thank you P67!
SmokeyToes!! And in a Fendi fragrance to boot! So nice to see you.
and so good to be here!
It’s so good to “see” you here! waving hello !! Hugs
Hi SmokeyToes! Nice to see you!
Hello there SmokeyToes! How have you and the kitties been?
I am wearing Spell 125 (Papillon)
It was love at first sniff and in 2022 it broke a no buy period of almost 1 year.
The only other perfume i bought in 2022 was Tabac Tabou. That one has been on my wish list for a long time.
You smell dreamy.
Excellent exercise of willpower with those perfume purchases!
Smoothie is Clementines and yogurt
So it was, Ortegia Zagara known as orange blossom in Fragrantica, not sure why they offer the name in translation but no matter, it’s a lovely one and tonight it’s Alahine in it’s resinous glory.
Love all the Ortigia packaging — that bottle is perfect.
Just felt like Dusita Splendiris today.
That’s enough of a reason!
Just finishing my toast and coffee with regular old half and half. It’s not been as hard as I thought it would be to leave flavored creamer in my rearview mirror. As per usual, the anticipation of the thing is worse than the thing itself.
Wearing a melange of leftover perfumes on my flannel this morning. Not sure if I should add to it or leave it as is. It’s quite lovely as it is but a bit faint. Would never pass the Hanusuuri Test! 😂 Plus, lots of skeeters around these parts 🦟
I’m very happy with my new phone. It’s very responsive, takes great photos, and I’m now able to surf with just one bar of LTE. My old phone sometimes wouldn’t connect with 2 bars of LTE. Plus, loading time is much quicker. Winner, Winner, chicken dinner!
leave your creamer? why why why why?
Because I learned that flavored creamers are a chemical cesspool. Plus, they’ve been found to be mildly addictive. I miss my hazelnut, no doubt, but I don’t miss the the calories and chemicals. Half and half seems to be working well for me. 👍🏼
I decided to go sugar free syrups and get rid of the sugar. I thought I would hate it, but have gotten used to it now.
I’m not a fan of sugar free since those products still spike your sugar. Years ago, before this was known, I worked with a type I diabetic who only used the sugar free creamers but she still had a glucose spike. We couldn’t figure out why! Lol! 🤪Plus, at least for me, some sugar free substances give me a raging headache, so I avoid those types of products. YMMV
Yeah, you are right, it is.
But now that I am 70 and gonna use my creamer.
I totally get that! Enjoy a cup for me! ☕️
Would you ever consider using a bit of real vanilla or almond extract in your half & half?
Almond doesn’t appeal to me at all, but I do have some vanilla extract. Maybe I’ll give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks for the idea!
Have you tried Chobani dairy creamers? They say only dairy and sugar. They make a hazelnut one. I’ve used the sweet cream.
No, haven’t heard of them but will keep my eyes peeled next time I stock up on groceries, thanks!
Rather than a simple, paper plane I’m going with the winged sandals and winged hat of Hermes in the lovely, autumnal Ambre des Merveilles. It’s the two year anniversary of my cancer surgery and I’m celebrating today by going for a walk on the beach at the entrance to the harbour to feel the air and spot fur seals and albatrosses ( maybe). I am so lucky. Plus….hot water!
Congratulations on this anniversary. I agree with celebrating by feeling the air that you are here and walking and enjoying! (Love the cp scent association also. )
That’s an anniversary worth celebrating!
It sounds like a perfect celebration of the day, enjoy. Clever take on the CP too.
I am happy to hear your hot water is back. I’m happy for your surgery anniversary, too. Wave at the fur seals for me-
A very special anniversary! A walk on the beach is a peaceful and relaxing way to celebrate!
Hurray for both a second anniversary of your life saving surgery, and having hot showers back!
Happy Anniversary and Happy hot water!
Congratulations! And you smell great, that’s one of my faves.
Wow time flies. Good for you, I am raising my glass (ginger tea, but still) to you Kanuka.
So happy to share in your celebration – I love your tie-in with Hermes!
So happy for you and your celebratory day.
Sounds like a wonderful way to spend that anniversary. I hope you saw some cool wildlife.
Today is my first full day as a grandmother. Our grandson was born yesterday evening, 8 lbs, 8 oz, 21 inches. I am very pleased that he was born in my birth month as well!
I am wearing Eau de Gaga which does not fit the CP and wouldn’t be the first to come to mind to celebrate a new addition to the family, but it is calming and comfortable and a perfect white tee fragrance for me (the kind that can go anywhere, do anything), and calm and comfortable are good things.
Aww… super congratulations!
Enjoy this special day.
Wonderful news! Congratulations!
What lovely news, congratulations to you and your family!
Congratulations! There’s something to be said for comfy fragrances.
What wonderful news!
Congratulations to you and your family! And of course, you smell fabulous💕💐
Congratulations! Wonderful news!
Congratulations, grandma! That’s wonderful.
Congratulations — babies are wonderful!
What fantastic news, congrats to all!
Congratulations – what wonderful news! I bet you’ll have him on a camping trip before the season ends!!
Just reading this now – congratulations, D!
It’s my Friday, and I’m wearing Vol de Nuit. I’ll have to think again tonight about the CP and see if I can think of something clever for NST’s Friday.
Vol de Nuit is perfect for the CP. Pretty much perfect, period.
Esential Parfums Rose Magnetic today. It’s super pretty, cheerful and polite in a bright-but-not-neon colored tea dress kind of way.
That does sound nice nebbe.
Oooo you smell beautiful.
I recieved Bal d’ Afric fragrace and lotion as another birthday gift – lucky me five in all! I wore that today.
You smell wonderful! Keep the birthday celebration going!
I’m wearing Un Air d’Apogee, a very airy tobacco that’s quite beautiful. I get a slight burnt rubber note when I sniff up close though…. too bad.
I love tobacco usually, and for that matter I don’t much mind burnt rubber…I should try that one.
My back is feeling better today but is still not quite right. I was able to get groceries and take some recyclables out earlier. I am using a heating pad again.
SOTD = still hanging out in Korres Guava lotion. This and their Jasmine are some of my favorites.
Glad your back is feeling a bit better! Heating pads are wonderful things!
Thanks! When you need one, a heating pad is SO good!
Glad your back is feeling a bit better. Try to not over do it.
I took it relatively easy today. I could have done more stuff but decided not to risk it.
I had a sore back from coughing so much from my virus or whatever it was. I bought some of those wraps at the drugstore that heat up on your skin. They last for 8 hours or something like that. They are kind of expensive, but they help too.
Hopefully today is the last day I will need the plug-in heating pad.
I got the last of the garden seedlings off our workbench and tabby boy lay down on the heat mat! It is about the same temp. as the heated cat beds we have. =^v^=
Today I’m wearing Liquides Imaginaires Tapis Volant (Flying Carpet), a spicy-powdery jasmine that I’m enjoying right now, although I won’t want to wear it when hot weather arrives and I shift to eau de colognes and sheer roses!
My only excitement today has been an appointment at the allergist, to get some intervention on a crummy itchy rash that’s taking over my eyes and mouth right now — pollen? Not sure! But they gave an Rx to break the inflammation.
Enjoy your evening, all!
Ew, that rash sounds horrible!
Oh I hope that the meds work fast. I hate eye issues!
I just wore some blackberry perfume oil today. It’s long gone so will need a refresh of something else.
Waited for the junk removal guys, they were supposed to be here at 9:00 am. Called them at 10:00 am; they had no record of a pickup! Umm, well there’s other companies to call. Thanks! We called someone else and they came today! Nice to have my deck area back.
Glad that you were able to get someone to take that stuff off your hands/deck!
SOTD was Both Sides of Clouds parfum. I may wear it again tomorrow, I love it so much! Or I could wear a different one in the Clouds series. I’m so glad this will be a holiday weekend — although I just had a lovely vacation, I’m still feeling some of the fatigue from finishing a very busy and tiring spring semester, then tackling summer projects and the hand-off to colleagues before I retire at the end of July.
Happy soon to be retirement! And enjoy your hopefully long relaxing holiday weekend!
DSH Angel’s Wing for a flight related mention today
Beautiful weather in Southern Indiana today. I spent the day wafting wonderful Marfa by Memo Paris, courtesy of Swapmeet. This is the Tuberose I was hoping for in Fracas. It is not like the three versions of Fracas edp that I have. But I have a vintage mini that I think does share some of the qualities of Marfa – I will have to report back sometime on a comparison. Very busy finishing up the veggie garden all week but today was the first non-yucky-sweaty day.
In L’Air du Désert Marocain for my “Time Flies” CP since I had been hearing about this beautiful fragrance for years and all of the love for it on NST before I finally went down the Tauer rabbit hole myself. What a lovely ride!
