Chanel Paris – Paris from 2022, and a cup of Irish Breakfast tea.
We are patchouli twins. I tried that one when I was in Nordies, and found it very patchouli forward on my skin. I think the juice is a beautiful color. It also lasted longer than most of the others in that line on me. One of those when I would get a whiff of something good hours later and wonder what smelled so good, and realized it was me!

If you like patchouli, you definitely should! This may sound odd, but somehow it reminded me of Angel. Although a very watered down lighter version.

I’m in my Grounding essential oil with notes of patchouli, clove and ylang ylang. It is just what I need to dip my toe back into wearing fragrance after the last several days where the thought of fragrance was just yuck.
After avoiding it for two and a half years plus, Santa brought me 🦠 for Christmas. I started with a sore throat on the 23rd, tested positive Christmas Eve and by Christmas Day, I was down for the count. Fever, intense body aches and chills. I literally spent the entire day in bed. I mostly slept on and off, and when I wasn’t sleeping I just laid there wishing for time to pass and to feel better. I did not even have the energy to sit up in bed and read or be on my iPad. Just getting up to go to the BR took all the energy I had. On the bright side, because there’s always a bright side right?!, we had no travel plans for the holiday and no one coming to us. All of the shopping had been done, so I could just rest without the accompanying anxiety to hurry up and get better because we need to do xyz. Each day I have felt a little bit better than the last and today I feel almost human again. I’m off work (of course) this week and my girls are home. I’ve been isolating to my bedroom, binging Netflix and eating my meals here. Even though I am starting to feel better, is it wrong for me to continue to have them bring me things?😈 I think not.
The sun is out today and we are supposed to get up to 40! I may put my earbuds in later, bundle up and go for a short walk just so I can feel the sun on my face.🌞

I heard a little bit of a NPR article about some woman who is advocating Naps, not only for health, but as a from of rebellion against the contant pressure of capitalist productivity.
So rest until you feel really human! Glad you have your girls to take care of you.
I went and looked it up -Tricia Hershey is her name, Rest is Resistance is the name of her book and she has a web-site called The Nap Ministry. She is a psychologist, but she has moved way beyond “good sleep hygiene ” is good for your brain stuff. Honestly she sounded a little out there in the portion of the interview I heard, so take this recommendation with a grain of salt, but she also sounded smart, so it might be worth looking into more. Naps as resistance is such an entertaining concept, you know?

Mini She-ra tested positive for it on 12/9 and still has a cough. I masked for about 5 days and somehow sidestepped it again this round. Mr. She-ra had in July and did not get this time either so perhaps he had some immunity still.

Very cold today, -14°C, with the windchill making it even colder, and you’d think I’d be bundled up in something warm, but after the gym and the shower I put on vintage Eau de Courrèges, a lemony cologne with a very unexpected woody chypre base, from back in the day when even a cologne had some structure and some lasting power.

Will do! I have the older very tall glass bottle of the oil, and it’s fun to play with. The cocoa absolute settles at the bottom and when you turn it upside down, it behaves like a lava lamp!

I was in the gardens yesterday and the heat brought out the scent of the giant Himalayan Lilies . They are so tall you can’t really sniff them up close but they are all flowering so the air is full of the sweetness. Early here, listening to the sheep bleating from across the valley ( no traffic noise as the town empties at Christmas ) and the birds jangling away. All the windows are open and the sun is just lighting the tree tops. Beautiful day. Wearing Gris Clair , a perfume I like in summer warmth.

Poured rain all night here, now just a bit cloudy. I’m enjoying a lazy day at home with no errands to run. Lounging with the dog, wearing Meo Fusciuni Narcotico, a patchouli scent. His line is very eclectic and very much not blind buy safe, but lately I’ve been exploring it and have found three I enjoy: Luce, Notturno and Narcotico. Thanks to foxbins for alerting me to the house by mentioning her purchase of Luce.
I have run my errands and have dentist tomorrow, so jealous…enjoy the lounging!

Was debating blind buying Jo Malone Rose Water & Vanilla which has been rereleased but cazaubon’s helpful intel in yesterday’s thread has given me pause and I may wait to see if my local store gets a tester.
oh, I will have to go back and see Cazaubon says, since i had the same impulse. What could they do to Rose Water and Vanilla, unless they just accentuated the water until there is no rose or vanilla there?

My Sephora just got the testers this week. I get a Hypnotic Poison vanilla with the play dough.
So in 2003 I worked at a Stila makeup counter in a Nordstrom. My coworker was obsessed with perfume and would always go to the perfume section and come back with something new and lovely for me to smell. Light Blue was one she like to wear pretty often at that time, so it always reminds me of her.
Our counter was next to the Trish McEvoy counter, and all of the Trish perfumes were on display there. We were both obsessed with spraying Trish McEvoy No 9 Blackberry & Vanilla Musk.
I was at Blue Mercury a couple months ago and saw a few Trish perfumes and sprayed on some n9 and suddenly it was 2003 for me
So I bought some for myself for Christmas and I’ve been spraying the heck out of it since then. It has always been pretty fleeting, but since I work from home I keep the bottle on my desk and just spritz away throughout the day. That keeps a nice lovely aura going and I am a happy camper! Even through my year end stress bubble of work, lol.
You reminded me of that time when I was obsessed with Stila makeup. I have a bottle of Trish #9 , it was one of my favourites, I have to find it and wear again.
It’s been a bummer to see Stila’s line reduce over the years, there were some amazing lip and eye shadow colors that aren’t available anymore. The convertible color cream blushes are still great though.

I’m giving Kerosene Copper Skies another proper wearing today. It’s lovely but very understated, especially when compared to Broken Theories (the only other Kerosene I’ve experienced much of), and it’s actually longer-lived than I initially gave it credit for. I still think I don’t need a FB, but if they ever do a travel size, I’ll be on it in a jiffy.

I’m wearing Zoologist Civet this morning and doing all the end of year things that need doing. This is when I review my subscriptions and cancel the ones I don’t use and add new ones, shred the eight-year-old tax papers and make a new folder for 2023, and put a new toothbrush head on the toothbrush. (That last one happens quarterly, on the solstices or thereabouts.) It makes me feel organized going into the new year.

Today I’m wearing Mojave Ghost from a sample. I like it but not enough to buy any. I went back to physical therapy today after taking awhile off due to having Covid. It went OK but I can tell I’m weaker and by the time I had stopped for a few groceries and got home I was completely exhausted.
I bought myself a bottle of YSL Paris for Christmas and now am planning to wear that one tomorrow. It’s something my mom used to wear and I’ve always liked it a lot. If I had felt ambitious enough to hang up some stockings this year it would have been a nice stocking stuffer.

A little unpacking and laundry; a little other housework. Back from a beach trip with one week spent Mr. Mossy’s brother and his wife, who we have not spent time with in almost 10 years. We saw them briefly last Summer and do talk from time to time. It went very well and now we are all friends again-familiar jokes and similar interests came up easily. We had decent weather and even got some swimming in the first week. But the big cold snap reached down to North Florida so it was earmuffs and overcoats the last three days! Saw some dolphins and eagles, and I love reading and looking up at the changing seascapes. Still good to be home with the kitties. Sotd Honour Woman. I like it and will likely thunk my decant. After that, not sure.

Good that you were able to get your shopping done. I stopped by Whole Foods today and had to wait quite a long time for someone to help me at the fish counter (they were paged twice). Anyway, there was a specific piece of fish I wanted which happened to be closest to me but farthest from him. He hemmed and hawed and said they were all the same! Ummmm, no. Even looking at the pieces, some had different coloring! The guy was crabby and I really should get his name and complain about him; it wasn’t the first time he was crabby.
Definitely some irony in Mr. Crabby working at the fish counter!

I may repeat this question again tomorrow. I’m curious to know if you are traveling First Class are you supposed to be free from the distractions that a baby / toddler may bring? Personally, and maybe it’s because I am a commuter and unless there are written terms & conditions that prohibit it, I have no say in this matter unless my physical space is being encroached upon without my permission. I don’t consider noise part of physical space.
It’s been a very long time since I was seated in First Class on an airplane. But the only perks I remember were free alcoholic drinks and bigger seats. Oh, and real food instead of snacks. That last one gives away how long ago it was!

I have been sampling a few tuberose scents from Rogue that Irisjasmine told me about. I think I see a FB of Champs Lunaires in my future although I like Tuberose and Moss as well. Decisions, decisions.
My official sotd was Guerlain Rose Cherie. I am really really liking it. I am currently wearing JM Rose Vanilla on one hand (reminds me of Hypnotic Poison but more play doughy) and Rose Blush on the other hand. Now this I like! For the life of me I can’t think of what it reminds me of but it’s very rosy with something peppery. I keep thinking Stella meets Miu Miu.
