I think I could do a week of leather (I have three Demeter leathers alone), but today I’m in Compagnie de Provence Encens Lavande, which is essentially sugared green lavender, with the incense mostly a suggestion of warmth, but quite nice. It would make a good room spray if it hadn’t been discontinued.

Robin, that flu is really hanging around. I hope you are continuing to improve. Today I chose Kelly Caleche from a box of minis. CP compliant today, plus I’m enjoying it after weeks of wearing cooler weather scents. It is supposed to reach the high 70s today in my part of Texas.

Leather and suede? It’s my week! I can definitely do a full week of that, and will!
But meanwhile, lately I have been considering my Chanels. They’re all fairly light, by which I mean not leathery, not dark, not spicily mysterious. This morning I’m in Coco Noir from a manufacturer’s sample that was malingering in the depths of Mt. Sample, and it’s just not me (nor is it very noir, tbh). Is it that “dark” just isn’t Chanel, or is it that I haven’t explored the line thoroughly enough?
I think original Coco is dramatic but still not dark.
Coco Noir should have been called Bottle Noir. The perfume doesn’t match the bottle at all! I still had to have it of course. Lol.

My week, too! Chanel doesn’t really do “dark”, I think. It’s all relative!
I can’t say I would call it dark, but I personally love Coco Noir. I wear the body cream and the perfume in the cooler months.
I thought Le Lion was very leathery. But I guess not exactly dark.

And I meant to mention earlier that as of yesterday I have a brand new great-nephew! His grandparents (my brother and SIL) are beyond excited. And now I really have to buckle down and finish crocheting that baby blanket!

I am in Do Son today, from a sample via pfsh. I like it, although it is now mixed with the scent of tiger balm. I seem to have a trend of being unkind to my back every Monday. That said, I’ve been less miserable today than on the average Monday. Not sure why, although the morning sunshine probably has helped.
I, too, may be able to do a week of leather – I have some obvious ones, like Bottega Veneta and Knize Ten, but will look out for other ideas in everyone’s comments.

Just arrived home from my colonoscopy. I know TMI, but there are a lot of nurses in this group, including me, so I know most of you don’t mind. Everything was fine, but couldn’t wear lotion, perfume or anything scented. Put on Chanel No 5 as soon as I got home😊 I don’t think I have anything with leather or suede notes so won’t be participating in the CP this week.

Good to have done. I had a bilateral mastectomy 24 years ago due to breast cancer, so I strongly recommend keeping up on the mammograms. I have been cancer free for that long due to early diagnosis.

Glad you got that over with, and hopefully not to be repeated for at least a couple of years. I had my first one in 2020 and had no clue they were using propofol these days. Back in the day it was versed and Demerol. I woke feeling soooo rested! Hoping you’re feeling very lean and healthy!
Yes, when I had my first one 10 years ago they used something else as I was pretty groggy and nauseous after that one. This time they used propofol. They did have a little trouble waking me up and my blood pressure dropped, but once I woke up everything was fine. Now I feel great!

Day 15 of COVID here. I can finally taste and smell a little bit (thank goodness) and I didn’t cough all night, so I think I’m on the mend. So relieved to smell again that I happen to be CP-compliant in an Ashoka sample. I’ll get out for a walk later– that always helps me both mentally and physically. Seems to be a rough fall for many!

I chose Historiae Bouquet du Trianon today, one of the few tuberose forward scents I have as it’s problematic for me, it also has a. prominent beeswax note, honestly it is a very pretty hidden gem and I’d like to try the others from this line, tonight I am in I Profumi di Firenze Hayan, a linear and simple patchouli/vanilla I enjoy.

Ah, yes, I am nostalgic about my teenage years when it seemed I could sleep around the clock.
Yep. Teens and twenties were probably the last decades where I could get reliably good sleep. Things started to go downhill in my mid 30’s. Sigh.
I don’t like leather as a note very much, but I think I do have a few candidates with some unexpected (to me) leather/suede notes, and I like Cuir Russie. Today I chose to try Zoologist Rhinoceros, the more recent version, as I figured that surely a rhinoceros fragrance had to have some leather. I sprayed liberally from my little sample and it made me choke, literally–as in “huff huff huff argh ew”. It has calmed down more but golly gee this is potent.
I looked up the notes on Fragrantica, there’s a zillion of them, but I figure it’s partly the oud and the cedar (which I never like in scents) that that make it kind of dank and dusty. There’s a funny review on Fragrantica by “NoClock”l I quote part of it here: “I feel like the animalic nature of Zoologist is often overstated. That said this one smells like a zoo for the first hour, which I find fun.” I don’t find it very fun, but I’m only doing minor errands today so I hope it won’t matter to anyone.
On the home front, I decided to go with a very little but cute tabletop Christmas tree this year and bought one at Whole Foods yesterday. It’s now set up on a small table in my living room awaiting its lights and ornaments. For now I’m allowing a bit of time for kitty adjustments. I’m always a bit wary about putting on those tempting round ball ornaments–wish me luck!
Then I won’t be quick to get a sample of that one😊I admit I enjoy many from Zoologist, but not all.
That is the tree I argued for this year, but I think I lost again.

Qualifying for the project in Ummagumma today. When I first smelled it, in the air but not on my skin, it was a chocolate truffle. Now, on my skin, it is mostly leather. Maybe some cocoa? I miss the ganache, to be honest with you! But it is a nice leather.
Shame you cannot have both – the truffle and the leather.
The chocolate rallied a bit, but it was still not a truffle. Some day!
I’m sampling Cheval d’Arabie from Sultan Pasha for my leather today but I prefer PG’s Arabian Horse so I should try and dig out my sample of that before the end of the week

Somehow, some of my Thanksgiving Week purchases ended up coming from Canada. I did not know that until I got 2 emails saying my packages have cleared customs. Customs? Also, since when did FedEx force a signature required since the start of the pandemic? I deliberately choose No Signature Required but somehow, the merchant knows better than me?
This past Saturday, I was a while week early for my get together with friends but so as not to waste the trip, I practiced dinner. 🤣

I’m eyeing the scallops although pricing-wise, it is comparable to that of a similar dish in NYC.
I once accidentally went to my hair stylist on the wrong day. And to top it off, on the way there, I almost hit some deer. It was one of the very few times I have actually stood on the brakes to avoid a situation.
Wow! Speaking of deer, where you and I met a while back, there are backroads through a park. I was wondering why the car ahead of me slowed down and completely stopped. There was literally a deer in the headlights and while it eventually crossed the street, there were two more that were just catatonic but on the side of the road so we decided to pass. Fast forward about 15 minutes later, I was in my townhouse complex making a left onto my side of the Y and what did I see? A deer! And this is most certainly NOT deer country right here. Very disturbing.
Deer hang out in the parks here as well. And in the preserved open space areas. I’ve learned to go on “High Alert” by those areas.

It seems that I must have done something right, because today was great! I startled the FedEx guy by opening the front door right after he set down today’s Chewy.com delivery. I thanked him profusely, since I had run out of the cats’ wet food last night. He saved me a special trip to the pet store for an emergency can or two. Talk about just in time!
Oh, and in news that I forgot to post, Mr. Jalapeno came home last Saturday. He looked exhausted. And has been grumbling about the weather in NJ since. Never mind that he went thru 2 hurricanes while in FL.

Trying out some of the newer Regime des Fleurs releases this week, and today is Tears. I get 2/3 lilac, and 1/3 a mix of orris, rose, orange flower, orange pulp, frankincense, pink pepper, and then this slightly bitter green jungle note emerged in the far dry down that I’ve smelled in other Mathieu Nardin frags, but I can’t place it. The lilac note is dewy, kind of like lilac on a late spring/early summer day that is warm and slightly humid, which is not what I typically think of as lilac weather, but I like it.
Tea today has been a hodgepodge of tea bags because I’m in the office. A massive project I’ve been working on since September is due today. It is going to be a late night while I wait for certain pieces to come in so that I can finish my piece (and then send it on to people who will have an even later night finishing their piece). This teams needs a virtual happy hour once this project is done!

I sampled La Panthere this morning before I realized it’s leather week! Now I’m leather adjacent in Cuir Beluga. Going to gently ease my way into leather.
My cold is much much better, but for me the last thing to go is the very annoying cough. Where it tickles the throat and you cannot stop yourself. Anyone have any good remedies?
Do you have any honey? A strong tea with lemon and honey was one of my Mom’s home remedies for a tickle in the throat.
I have no good remedy other than humidifier & ricola drops. But despite using both I still have an annoying cough
