A confession

Posted by Robin on 2 December 2022 5 Comments

I have a confession to make: I am a Maison Francis Kurkdijan [sic] Baccarat Rouge 540 devotee – but I kind of hate myself for it. I love how it smells, I love how it makes me feel when I wear it and I love when people comment on it. But the thing is, it’s a perfume that can be considered one of the greatest – and most popular – of our time. And although that’s for a very good reason, it’s also the very thing that makes me question my own choices.

Yes, popularity can ruin a perfume. Coco Mademoiselle was ruined for me for a while. Back when it came out, everyone seemed to wear it. Now you don’t smell it as often.

It’s hard not to be disconcerted when everybody is wearing your perfume!

It wouldn’t make me not wear it, but Portrait of a Lady is my favorite Malle, and I think, Couldn’t I have a favorite Malle that’s *not* the most popular?

Ah. But I really don’t smell it everywhere.

At the same time, maybe it will be some help against discontinuation.
