Happy Almost-Friday! It's also Sesame Street Day and the World Science Day for Peace and Development. Happy 62nd to Neil Gaiman! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in one of my favorite "diet wood pudding" scents, Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle.
Reminder: on 11/11, wear something simple and comforting. Suggested by Cobrarose.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am wearing Chanel Beige extrait. I forgot how good this smells!
Lovely perfume!
You smell beautiful!
Wonderful scent!
Happy Birthday, Robin and many happy returns! I hope you’re enjoying your special day! I’m wearing Rahat Loukhoum in your honor, plus it fits the cp! I’m in an exclaiming mood!!! Hey, why not???!!!
Thank you! And of course you smell fantastic.
Happy, happy, happy Birthday, Robin! The best for you always! Hope you have a wonderful day! 🎂🎁🍷.
Wearing Tauerville Incense Flash for the CP.
Very comforting scent on a very nice, cool, sunny day today.
Coffee and more coffee and a thin slice of chocolate cake.
Happy Thursday! 🌞
Thank you, and thank you for having cake 🙂
The Incense Flash sure wasn’t around for very long, was it?
Vanilla Flash and Rose Flash were the only ones not discontinued from the Tauerville line. The rest dissappeared pretty fast.
Wearing the deceptively simple and comforting Clair de Musc today.
I love Clair de Musc, you smell great.
Did you try Guerlain musc outreblanc? How does it compare to Clair de Musc?
I haven’t tried the Guerlain, maybe someone else will know.
You smell wonderful – that is a very comforting scent for me too!
Grabbed a cheap bottle of Tabu just to try it out and I’m genuinely impressed. It starts out smelling like a glass of root beer with a couple slices of orange in it, and dries down to surprisingly sophisticated mix of patchouli, civet, and spice. This is the modern cologne in the cheap-looking bottle, not vintage or anything. I expected something more strident.
So nice to hear it still impresses!
Last I smelled a new bottle of Tabu, which admittedly was a while ago, it was still excellent. The bottle I have, maybe 20 years old, certainly is. It’s just an extraordinarily good scent, not even for its price point, but at any price.
I was so touched when my cousin gave me my aunt’s (older) bottle of Tabu when my aunt died several years ago. I just assumed it had gone off but kept it because it reminded me of her and then when I fell down the perfume rabbit hole I smelled it again. It’s magnificent! I was also excited to learn that it was created by Jean Carles, who also created (with Paul Vacher) Miss Dior, another of my all time favorites.
Happy Birthday, Robin!!
Temps today are supposed to reach 70F, and I’m wearing Goutal Le Chevrefeuille to celebrate the weather and to enjoy honeysuckle goodness out of season. I’ve also been craving orange blossom, so have been playing with that. Clearly, seasonal perfume conformance isn’t my strong suit in cooler weather.
I was in the Denver area last week, and really enjoyed État Libre d’Orange Fils de Dieu from a dabber. Sweet fragrances tend to get cloying on my skin in Illinois, but something about that dry Denver air made a huge difference. Fun discovery!
Reading: Just finished Confessions of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell.
Thank you! And Le Chevrefeuille + 70 is how I should be spending my birthday, maybe I’ll hop on a plane 😉
Yves Rocher Neonatura Cocoon, which totally fits the community project: salty cocoa powder, vanilla, and patchouli, nothing more. Simple and cozy.
It’s a crime this one was discontinued.
It really is. My bottle is half gone and it might outlive me, but it should still be available for people who love these basic comforts.
Wearing FM’s Monsieur and feeling elegant as one can in slippers and steamed up glasses.
Sounds very elegant in a Katherine Hepburn kind of way.
In Profumum Amber Aurea today; the sprayer on this decant has gone wonky, so I am dabbing it.
Happy birthday, Robin! Perhaps your husband will make scrapple for you! My parents met in Lancaster, PA, and we regularly visited my godparents there when I was a kid; I tend to eat scrapple only when I’m in that part of the world, Which must be close to where you are.
Cheered my school’s excellent field hockey team to victory last night, and I’m still very husky voiced this morning. It’s amusing. That may also explain why my voice to text is making so many weird typos this morning.
Yes, one of the several towns that claim to be the home of scrapple is a couple towns over from me 🐖
Smelling fabulous I lover there!
*over there! Spell check thinks it’s Valentine’s Day 😉
It sounds like something you would hear from a drunk guy at a bar! Lol.
Happy birthday dear Robin! Hope it’s a fun day for you. I’m feeling woody too, in a 4160 Tuesdays scent based on Temptation with copal and palo santo.
Thank you! Today will be pretty ordinary, but if the weather does not screw up my trip, we are going to Savannah for a birthday weekend. So fingers crossed!
Happy birthday, so glad you have something special planned, hoping nothing will prevent you from your holiday.
🤞
For campy fun, consider a meal at The Pirates’ House. I love Savannah; we went there as kids many times.
Thank you for the rec! Will look at it tomorrow. I wish we had more time, it is hard to fit in all the restaurants 🙂
Wearing Cuir d’Ange because it’s one of my fave comfort scents. Also I have like only 5 perfumes that I actually wear 😂
Everything else is for reference or for that one-specific-mood-twice-a-year-when-I-REALLY-wanna-smell-it (looking at you, Amaranthine).
Bois de Paradis is one of mine. Since it smells like mulled wine its day is appearing soon I am sure.
Mmm that sounds delicious — makes me want to wear it to a Christmas/winter holiday market!
Wearing H&M’s Santalum perfume oil. A successful blind buy, so of course it’s discontinued already.
Oh, they have perfume oils? Good to know….
At least they did. I’m relatively certain the oils have been discontinued, but the edps may still be available, depending on where you live. The Santalum oil is really nicely done, especially considering the price point.
It’s Memoirs of a Trespasser for me this morning. Blends really well with coffee and the half-muffin coming to me shortly. Mr. G and I agree that a whole Costco muffin is too much of a good thing.
I agree on the muffins, half is just right.
Costco seems to specialize in ginormous portions.
Had a look around for a comfy perfume I haven’t worn in a while and am now in Cuir de Lancome. It only has now become cool enough for this type of scent. We even had snow! For about a day, but still.
I went through many bottles of this! You smell wonderful today!
I’m wearing Onda Voile d’Extrait. It’s a lot less dense and swampy than the EDP and I’m liking it a lot. Today I’m raking leaves that last week’s rain knocked down. The big maple is almost bare, maybe one more raking day next week, depending on the weather.
I’m waiting with bated breath! The edp and the VdE are like two completely different perfumes, no? You smell fabuloso…👍🏼
Leaf-raking twins; same for our big tree, and I too decided it’s better to get some of it done before the “last” leaf falls. We are supposed to have two more days of perfect weather, then go seasonal.
Happy Birthday, Robin!
Hope you’re able to rest, relax and do whatever you please today.
SOTD is Bois d’Arménie.
I did plenty of relaxing as it turns out, thanks!
And you smell great.
Happy Birthday Robin! I must have missed the memo. I didn’t even know it was your birthday. Hope you have a great day!!!
I am wearing Apres L Ondee Eau de Toilette. This appears to be a comfort scent – maybe. Had not tried it before, but it is very nice. Seems to be a bit fleeting and I guess I am ok with that.
I missed it too, but I just followed the crowd of those in the know. 😉
LOL. That’s what I did too. I kept looking at her original post to see if it was in there. Obviously, there are people that knew the date. I did not.
Thank you!
I always think of it as a slightly sad scent…a quick wistful memory? But maybe it is comforting too.
Hello all!
I’m in Violette Volynka today; a lovely surprise that doesn’t smell like I thought it would. But I’m not disappointed in the slightest. The violet top notes are very candied to me, and when the leather emerged, it was rather quiet. I only put a spray on so I’m excited to give it a full wear soon.
Have a great day!
That bottle on your IG is just lovely! ❤️
Thank you! I’m a real sucker for the Hermessences, and the bottles are always so satisfying.
Happy birthday Robin. I hope you have a great year.
I’m wearing Abel Pause which Is a perfume aimed at perimenopausal women, which must be a first. A blend of mimosa, violet leaf, hay and narcissus. Lasts almost as long as a hot flush. I’m in a city with perfume shops today so want to make the most of it.
It’s amazing to me how dry and brown the hills are here compared to back home. I think it’s the absence of trees that is responsible. Here the hills look like animal hide. I am going for a walk soon. There is a beautiful estuary and I hope to see godwits ( the migrating birds that travel to Siberia), heron, kingfishers, oyster catchers. Can’t wait.
Calypso: thank you for the Camus almond tree piece. So profoundly relevant to the world today.
Oh, I’m very glad you read and liked it! It was a coincidence that our group was reading it on US Election Day, but we all thought it did contain some important messages for us even now!
PS: Perfume for menopause sounds awfully weird to me.
I think she develops perfumes that relate to the stage of life she is in. So a while back she create a mother of young child perfume, and now perimenopause.
What a perfect day – perfume and birds – enjoy! Oystercatchers are my favorite. They are such cartoony birds😁
I read about Pause! “Lasts as long as a hot flush” is not compelling ad copy 😉
Happy birthday, Robin! I hope you have a wonderful day!
I’m in Lush Turmeric Latte again because I’m feeling kind of lazy. Doesn’t that sort of work with the CP, anyway? Laziness is comforting for me. 🙂
That’s not being lazy, that’s a time saving measure. 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you!
Happy Birthday Robin
I am in Replica Jazz Club
Chanel lippy
Thanks ltsg!
The happiest of birthdays to you, Robin!
Sotd is Diptyque Fleur de Peau.
I like Fleur de Peau so much, you smell lovely.
😊
Thanks allo.
Happy Birthday, Robin! Isn’t 25 a great age?! 😉
I’m in Angel’s Share again today because I likey! A lot! 😁
Enjoying piping hot fall coffee and crunchy cracked wheat sourdough toast. 😋
My son gave me a Marvel bday card for a 6 year old, ha!
Smoothie is pear and yogurt, the pears are from Portugal, I’ll try to find some from the UK.
I chose Rouge Avignon today, it has gourmand elements but what makes it a winner for me is the vetiver. Tonight it’s the turn of Kiehl’s original musk, simple and comforting to me.
My daughter says she wants to start making smoothies. I have to investigate blenders. Is yours just a regular one or special for smoothie making?
Special for smoothies, the brand is Breville, it was cheap and probably won’t last forever, I bought it last Xmas but it’s holding up very well.
I picked up a few pears during my grocery runs this afternoon. The red ones were looking really nice.
So we’re fruit twins, mine are the Williams type.
Happy birthday, Robin. I hope it’s a wonderful day!
I’m in a spiced wood pudding fragrance: Mx. by Eris Parfums. I wear this one a lot in fall, winter and spring. Very easy to wear.
Wood pudding twins 🙂
PSA…Shalimar Tonka is back in stock on the U.S. website right now…12:24 pm PT! 🙂
I really enjoy this one and bought a BUB.
I got the email today, but I’m not feeling impulsive today.
Good to see you!
Good for you getting a BUB! I would of done that for Shalimar Vanille Madagascar. Oh well!
I got my email and back-up bottle, too! I about dropped my teeth when I saw the email. I didn’t think they would get any more in stock. My husband loves this stuff.
I survived my dental appointment today but have to go back on Monday to get two fillings. Ugh. I wore 2 sprays of Ilio hair perfume. I then decided to add insult to injury and do some grocery shopping. Lol.
It’s around 72 degrees here but snow is expected this weekend.
Happy Happy Birthday Robin!
I would rather ride the 6 train during rush hour than go to the dentist.
Glad you survived! I have nothing personal against any dentist I’ve ever known, but I still hate going for a visit…😬
Grocery shopping twins today!
At least your dentist visit wasn’t horrible.
Thank you!
I have been putting off the dentist, argh. Sorry about your 2 fillings.
Happy birthday, Robin!
Was going to do a PSA about the Shalimar Millesime Tonka, but She-ra did the honors. SOTD is L de Lolita Lempicka, which I sometimes forget I have. I got a real deal on a partially used store tester years ago.
Thanks Sapphire!
Happy Birthday, Robin! Hope you are having a lovely day!
I’m wearing several sprays of vintage Quartz after my shower! It’s nice to put on proper perfume. We had another quiet day inside watching more Great British Baking Show as Nicole was blowing and raining. Thankfully this wasn’t an Ian repeat.
It appears that the worst is over where I am, thankfully! The wind is still blowing but the birds are back, doing their bird-things!
I’m so glad to hear that Nicole turned out to be no big deal. A quiet day inside watching the Baking Show is not a bad way to spend the day, regardless!
Thank you! I’m relieved as well! I slept pretty good, considering. My sister said rain, etc. is a white noise. I may have to investigate that further as I’m not a great sleeper.
Mr. Jalapeno said that the storm surge from Nicole brought water really close to his stepmom’s house.
My Mom used to have a white noise generator, since she had noisy upstairs neighbors in her condo. It seemed to help.
Oh dear! She had some water with Ian iirc! Hope she’s OK. I know there was much more damage on the coast.
Last I heard, Mr. Jalapeno said that the water had stopped rising.
The Daytona Beach area got hit hard by Nicole, based on what I saw on The Weather Channel.
Glad you are well Gail!
Thank you, lillyjo!!
Thank you Gail, and so glad the storm did not do you any worse!
Aww, Happy Birthday Robin! NST is a perfect place to be on Sesame Street Day, because we can come and play and everything will be A-OK! Going for the CP points in comforting Chanel Allure, edp and body lotion.
I heard the Sesame Street theme music this morning on the radio. The morning DJ was mentioning that it was Sesame Street Day at that time.
I like that!
Happy birthday Robin! Comfort scent today is Nicolai’s Musc Intense. It’s so soft that I sometimes wear it while I read in bed and fall asleep.
Thanks Old Herbaceous.
Happy birthday, dear Robin! You are smelling wonderful and I hope your birthday is great.
I’ve discovered this week that powdery scents are very comforting to me. I wore Habanita yesterday and I’m in Millesime Tonka right now. Neither are simple though!
Yes….the simple part is the hard part, I think!
Happy Scented Birthday, Robin! You sure had gorgeous weather for the special day.
Back to the grocery store for me today. I had a few things on a list to grab for dinner ingredients. I ended up forgetting one of them, so I had to walk back a second time to get it. And right by the darn candy canes was a full sized Xmas tree, all lit up and decorated. Sheesh!
SOTD = back in Perles de Lalique. Seriously considering a full bottle of this. However, I blew up my perfume budget earlier this year with the Smell Bent closing sale (among other things). Might be time for me to exercise some restraint.
I was in target the other day and the whole store was Christmas already. Not a single Thanksgiving thing spotted. Seems like we should pay more attention to being grateful.
I did catch sight of some Thanksgiving decor this trip, but it paled in comparison to how much Xmas stuff I saw.
ITA with you about being grateful!
If you still love it in the new year ( with a fresh perfume budget) I hope you get it.🌞
Thanks Jalapeno! And yes, weather was perfect.
Happy Birthday, Robin – hope it has been a festive day!
No CP for me: Shiseido Koto parfum. Which I think of as one my “lady” perfumes and well suited to important meeting days.
Thanks spiderplant!
Happy Birthday, Robin! May this year be the best in a loooooong time.
Wearing Let The Good Times Roll. It is strong, but very soft and cozy.
Hoping all my peeps are well! 💜
Hey AnniePerfumes, and thanks!
Happy birthday, Robin!
SOTD = L’AP Safran Troublant
Perfect comfort scent! What am I going to wear tomorrow? 😱
This morning I had to sit in a 2-seater as the particular train was usually more crowded than usual. The woman was so fidgety but I decided to take the high road and not say anything; you know I would have! The earliest chance I got, I moved to another seat. Would I sit next to her again if the opportunity arose? Probably, and I’ll engage her in conversation 🤣.
I’m taking a guess about what you will wear tomorrow. I will let you know if I win! Lol.
Thanks hajusuuri!
That’s been a very popular one this week. You smell fab, but I must admit I have no clue what you’ll be choosing tomorrow… MVP maybe?
