Happy Hump Day! It's also National Scrapple Day, World Freedom Day and Chaos Never Dies Day. Birthdays: Ivan Turgenev, Dorothy Dandridge, Robert Frank, Carl Sagan and Mary Travers. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm following sistine in Hermès Vetiver Tonka.
Reminder: on 11/11, wear something simple and comforting. Suggested by Cobrarose.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

In Coco Noir which is very comforting to me!
Hope it is a good day then Kris!
Love all the Cocos – you smell great!
Definitely the time of year to start bringing out comfort scents en masse!
Just read that Allure piece about vanilla and thought, man, that is a *lot* of words about basically nothing — someone trying to stretch a questionable thesis sentence (“People are conflicted about vanilla perfumes”) into a 1500-word essay for the teacher. So contrarily I put on some CSP Amour de Cacao, which is essentially just chocolate and vanilla, and so, so good. Don’t need a whole essay to tell me why I like it.
I couldn’t agree with you more. I am a People magazine reader myself pretty much from cover to cover, including questionable pieces 🤣
Good call.
I’m wearing an old favorite, 4711 Acqua Colonia Mandarine & Cardamom. Very comforting.
That one sounds comforting. Anything with cardamom or nutmeg sounds comforting to me.
Wearing AdV Copal Azur for the CP.
On my third cup of coffee already and a slice of apple pie. I hope the sugar wakes me up soon. I can barely keep my eyes open in front of the computer monitor. Looking forward to Friday for the holiday off.
Happy Wednesday! ☕️🥧
Very nice perfume. I have the same holiday off!
Yay! Day off twins! Enjoy!
You smell fabulous and your comforting incense week has inspired me.
Thank you, Allo! Incense notes are usually more comforting for me than any other notes.
I wanted that AdV to work for me so badly. Unfortunately, It didn’t quite do so.
I took me a couple of times to fall in love with it.
I’ve come to the conclusion that not all incense perfumes work for me.
Comforting and easygoing l’ambre des merveilles for me today. Robin and Sistine are reminding me to get some more vetiver tonka, though.
I really struggle with sleep around the time change every fall and spring, so sheer will is getting me through this week. Definitely a good time for comforting perfume!
Ah, maybe I will piggyback on L’Ambre for tomorrow!
(And tired here too.)
I had a horrible night’s sleep last night too. Pity that we are both in this club.
Humpday!
SOTD!
Agent Provocateur edp,the original pink egg…not so sure about comfort, but it sure smells fantastic!
Thunked my 10ml travel spray.
XO’s
You’ve been a thunking machine lately!
Haha, yeah,I’m trying to finish of some travel sprays before end of year!
That’s a couple of thunks for you this week, isn’t it? You must feel the need to add something new … at least I would. 😉
Haha!
You know the drill very well!
I usually add my most coveted perfumes to the collection during December, and there are a few on the list this year.Daddy needs to make space!🤭🤣🤣
Envy! Although I have finished an entire bottle recently…
I have thunking envy!
LOL! And I added a BUB of Agent Provocateur to my Perfume Stash!
That one sounds good, but I don’t think I have ever smelled it before. Isn’t it a deep rose scent?
It is a dark rose, definitely. One of my favorite roses. And the 50mL bottle feels so nice in my hand.
It’s Tam Dao EDT for me on this very chilly morning — bright sunshine and literally freezing. Pulled out my heaviest socks. 🥶
Keep warm! We have just reached T Shirt temperatures down here and it feels like summer is almost here!
But you smell WONDERFUL!!That is a comfort scent for sure!
XO’s
Mmmm Tam Dao.
I pulled my heated blanket out of storage this morning. It makes a huge difference, since I sit next to a drafty door while working from home.
Enjoy your toasty feet!
I took mine out a couple of weeks ago and use it in my chair while watching television.
I hope knowing that you smell fabulous kept you warm today!
My wool socks have returned to daily wearing, too. Can’t stand having cold feet! 🥶
SOTD is Violette Volynka, which smells as purple as the artichokes! I’ve been enjoying this one a lot — thanks everyone in joining me on the last splitmeet. All bottles have been sent out and delivered!
We have a cold snap here in the city. My nose is too cold to enjoy smelling things in this weather, which is mildly ennoying because I do enjoy smelling my SOTD on the morning walk to work in relation to the outdoors.
Ha, yes, perfect picture for it!
Very cold (but clear and sunny) morning here in Seattle. Finished yoga, now coffee. Planning a mid-morning walk, housework and then making a pumpkin pie.
SOTD is Oil Perfumery’s version of Dior Addict. A very close dupe. As it’s a roll-on (which I don’t mind), it’s easier to control the amount; and it’s oil (which I like), so sillage is a bit softer. Very nice and easier on my poor budget.
I hope you have a lovely walk.
4 miles and a friend joined me, so it was lovely.
I will be over for pie.
I’ll bring coffee 🙂
I would love to have you join me – with coffee! 😀
Mmm, I’ve been craving pumpkin pie.
And it’s so easy. C’mon over.
Love Dior Addict. It is intense though. The last few times I tried a new bottle in stores it was sort of weak and dissipated within a few hours. Last weekend I sprayed from a full tester at Sephora and it was the real deal! I was surprised at the longevity.
Adding pumpkin pie to my To Bake list. Got to do a trial one before the big even in a couple weeks. 🙂
Yep, a trial run is important! Yum
I’ve also got the OP version. I did a side-by-side sniff test with the original, and was surprised how close they are!
I’m really happy with it. Have you tried anything else from them?
I have quite a few. They are great for travel, layering (if you also have the real thing) and to test to see if you may want the original before spending big bucks!
I also have Dior Feve Delicieuse, Malle Iris Poudre, TF Lost Cherry, Guerlain SDV, YSL Opium (not exact, but still nice).
Wonderful, thanks for the info. Dior Addict is the first one I’ve tried from OP, and I’m very happy with it.
I like OP. I have their version of Coromandal and it resembles the real thing but the oil is softer, more of a comfort scent. I should wear it this week. It lasts forever on my skin, which is amazing.
I like the softness of oil also.
I hear you on the hit to the perfume budget.
I went way over this year. 🙁
Shalimar again, I always wear it a lot in the winter.
And it deserves to be worn 🙂
The queen Shalimar is always a good choice
My house faces a hillside of farmland and paddocks ( with remnants of native bush, Manuka and lemonwood, tarata ) and at the moment the slopes are cast in white , almost like patches of snow caught on branches, as all the hawthorn is in flower. I imagine that it would have been planted by the settlers along the boundaries of the paddocks to keep in stock but has spread over the years. All the purple foxgloves are also flowering; they look stunning against the green grass and finally the gorse and broom, bright yellow. I have a long drive today, going on an adventure, so will wear Ostara.
https://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora/species/crataegus-monogyna/
Beautiful scented flowers too
Purple foxgloves are so pretty!!
Sounds lovely. Have fun on the adventure!
Enjoy your adventure kanuka!
your description is so lovely
Sounds beautiful, enjoy your adventure!
Your description of the beautiful scene with white blooms like snow reminded me of the essay by Camus, “The Almond Trees,” which my book study discussion group just happened to read on Tuesday of this week. Here’s a link to it–it’s very short (but keep in mind the word translated here as “intelligence” is “l’esprit” which means something different). https://dilipsimeon.blogspot.com/2012/03/almond-trees-by-albert-camus.html.
I think I would really like to live where you live.
Sounds so beautiful! Hope you enjoyed your adventure.
Safe driving!
Yesterday after my PT I didn’t have any perfume on so I decided to visit Kuhl-Linscomb on my way home and wound up trying several of the Byredos on display there. I’ve tried samples of various of their scents but discovered that spraying (a lot) vs. dabbing makes a big difference. I was very taken with Mojave Ghost and De Los Santos. I also sprayed some on skin from two of their smaller bottles, Vanille Antique and Sellier. I asked the SA there how much the smaller bottles were, thinking they’d be less, but he (kindly) informed me that those are the special extracts and are in fact a lot more! oof! (We were both wistful about that.) I didn’t like Sellier so much on (I”m not a leather girl) but must say that I can still smell it on my arm today, about 16 hours later! It smells better now! I’m buying some larger size spray samples of a few to give them more of a whirl. Too bad this line is so pricey.
Later this morning after showing I plan to put on a fig perfume. That’s a comforting kind of scent to me. It’ll probably be L’Artisan Premier Figuier. I’m an exception, I know, by preferring it to Phylosykos. I recently tried an Andree Putnam Figue en Fleur and quite liked it too but just don’t need it.
By the way, Kuhl-Linscomb also had the Saint line, which I only had discovered at another shop last week, but they only have candles and room sprays. They’re an interesting line really based on various religious traditions and supposedly use holy oils of some sort… I don’t buy any of that but they smell pretty nice!! And their small bottles of perfume (which were at that other shop) are only $55.
We still have summer weather–ugh! It’s supposed to go from highs in the high 80s today and the rest of this week to high of 60 on Saturday. I can’t wait! I’m helping a friend find a new cat and she’s being a bit particular about what she wants: an orange male four years old or so… well she’s got one lined up for us to go meet at a shelter on Sunday afternoon, and he looks gorgeous! He’s a light ginger and part Siamese with pretty blue eyes. (To be fair, orange males really are, typically, the most sweet and affectionate of all cats. I have two and just love mine.)
I like Mojave Ghost a lot. As well as Slow Dance and Black Saffron (which smells like a library to me) Just thought I would mention these others if you ever want to give them a sniff. Slow Dance is my only full bottle
I’ll definitely try those too. Thanks!
Twins for preferring Premier Figuier.
Triplets – thought I was the only one. Looks like I’m in good company.
Good luck with your friend’s kitty search!
AS Sunday today for further comfort. Allegedly the window cleaners are coming today (hurrah! It’s been two years since the upstairs windows were cleaned and I’m tired of the bird poo I can’t reach on my kid’s window). But I feel for them — it’s beautiful and clear, but very cold. (We should have had this done in the summer, but we have a new property manager who has been dragging his feet, and here we are.)
Oh, Sunday is a good call!
Enjoy your clean windows, that’s a luxury.
National scrapple day! I admit that I love the stuff, although I eat it perhaps once every five or six years now.
Commando ATM. After all the talk (and the article, which I did not read) about vanilla, I think that’s the direction I will go. I have two events this evening, one outdoors, but the other indoors and in fairly close quarters, so I need to be mindful of Perfume friendliness issues. Now I’m off for a nice walk in the sunshine.
Enjoy the events.
Now I want scrapple!! We usually have it once a year as part of our big Christmas morning brunch buffet…..so good.
My husband makes scrapple once in a blue moon, since it’s a local specialty 🙂
I’m in Eau d’Hadrien, again. And I put a microscopic amount of Sisley’s Krizia on. It’s nice but it’s not me. Always nice to play with samples and try new things. It’s quite cold here and I’m wearing a favourite blue sweater-all about comfort and familiarity for me, this week 🙂
We are just back from our late evening walk and it is darned cold here too. Possibly too cold for Hadrien!
In the Prada iris absolue; despite not being rushed this morning I didn’t put on any perfume, so have to make do with my office backup perfume.
That is a really nice back up perfume
Wearing Angle’s Share from my new travel size. I hadn’t smelled this prior to purchasing, so it was a crap shoot.
It strongly reminds me of Montalé’s Arabian Horse. Will have to do a side by side one day. AS may be a bit sweeter and a bit less smoky, but they are definitely relatives. So for me this is a win, and I’m quite happy with my travel size.’
Oopsie! Wrong spot for this comment. Sorry!
Cold, wet and blustery here, wearing the fruity vanilla goodness of Fueguia La Cautiva.
I am not ready for that weather but I suppose it will get here soon enough.
It’s dropping to 32F on Friday in Montreal… winter is barreling down!
Apple and yogurt smoothie, I miss fresh 🍓 but apples are now in season and come from a nearby county, so eco friendly.
I chose Diptyque l’Eau this morning, it’s a cinnamon bomb and I find sweet spices comforting, tonight it’s Angel Men.
Diptyque L’Eau is a great comfort scent and you smell wonderful.
Thank you all, it’s a sleeper of a fragrance.
In season fruit is so much better.
Totally agree, I will still purchase frozen summer fruits time to time though.
Chanel n5 parfum, from a vintage set I bought off ebay a couple years ago. Smells excellent. The set also has n 19, Allure, Coco and n 22.
I have spent the summer wearing samples of new-to-me fragrances, and I am sort of over it now. I want to wear things I know i love and enjoy. The novelty was fun while it lasted, but time to pull out some of my favs and store them near my desk.
Looking forward to seeing what’s on the docket…
Maison Martin Margiela Replica Jazz Club
Back to sweaters and jackets!
Yep, I pulled out the parka tonight!
SOTD = Memo Paris Sintra
Another cozy, comfortable perfume for me! It is not for everyone. If you decide to look at the IG link, make sure you swipe.

In other news, I played hooky from going into the office today. I must say that one would think it should be easier to wake up in the morning despite a good night’s sleep but somehow my body wants to burrow further into my pile of blankets and by the time I get up, it’s too late to catch a reasonable train to get me into the office timely (as in by 8:15). Anyway, I hope my body eventually gets used to the time change!
I am still not quite finished shifting with the time change either. But this one was easier than the Spring Ahead jump.
I find I want to go to bed earlier.
Me too! It’s so dark I am ready by 8pm.
Also love Sintra and beautiful pics…thank you for sharing them.
I started my day in the comforting No. 5 L’Eau and have migrated to Le Lion.
Missed being perfume twins by a day.
Drat!🙃
Give me a hint what you’re planning to wear tomorrow…
I think I might hit repeat on today’s SOTD. But not sure.
Smelling wonderful day and night!
Thank you! You just put the biggest smile on my face 😁
J. Crew/Arquiste No 57 for a cozy scent today
Nice.
Wearing Epic from the splitmeet and thoroughly enjoying it. The drydown is wonderful!
Yay for the splitmeet!
That’s for sure 😊
Gorgeous picture today Robin!
Posting late. I got distracted this afternoon and lost track of time.
SOTD = Perles de Lalique. This has enough oomph to stand up to the chilly weather that has moved in. I find it comforting, though not sure if it is a simple perfume.
It’s veggie week 🙂
I’m wearing Coco edt today. It’s not simple but I find it comforting. I have a dentist appointment in the morning. It’s just a cleaning but still nerve-wracking.
You smell wonderful and I hope the dentist appointment is over before you know it.
Sending you peaceful vibes for your dental visit. ✌☮
Sending relaxing vibes for tomorrow! 🌻
The box for the splitmeet has arrived! Safe and sound from Rome, Italy, via Cincinnati. I made the decants this evening and I smell really good. This morning I wore Odalisque, an oldie but goodie.
I don’t know what you ordered but it must be good if you had it sent from Rome!
A round of doctors today so no scent till late afternoon–LDDM with my Starbucks treat to end the day on a calm and warm note.
Hope it all went well today jepster!
