July is racing by, so it must be time for our annual shower census....do tell us about the scented products in your bath or shower! How many scented shower gels and/or bar soaps are in your shower right now? And do tell us the names / products. If you have any great scented products in other categories (hair care?) tell us about those too.
Or, as always, just talk about something else.
Last year I said my shower gel game was weak at the moment. This year I've gone a little overboard and am having to rotate products between the shower and the cabinet.
Things that were in my shower last year, and that I still have (or have replaced): Shikai Yuzu shower gel (an oldie but goodie that I buy in the gallon refill jug), St. Ives Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange Exfoliating Body Wash (cheerful, cheap as chips), The Body Shop Mango Bath Blend (mixes nicely with the Shikai Yuzu and that is how I usually use it).
Last year I was out of my old staple Lush Happy Hippy, that's now been restocked, ditto for Weleda Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash.
New this year: Aveda Shampure Hand and Body Wash (a splurge when I forgot to bring soap on a beach trip...it smells nice but not as nice as any of the Aveda hair products I use, and I won't buy it again), Weleda Pamper Creamy Body Wash (with rose, jasmine and ylang ylang, but very much in the herbal Weleda style...and I do I like it but I like the Sea Buckthorn much better), Yves Rocher Orange Fondante (chocolate-covered orange at bargain prices, what's not to like? but see Lush Posh Chocolate below), Yves Rocher Almond Orange Blossom (fine but not in love), Yves Rocher Mango Coriander (it could be just a little more scented, but I do like this one), Yves Rocher Argan Rose Hammam (the winner from my Yves Rocher order. I probably like Lush Rose Jam better, but you can't beat the price of the Yves Rocher, especially with their frequent sales), Lush Mimosa (it does have mimosa flower, but it's clearly meant to smell like the cocktail: bubbly orange + a reasonably wine-y grape. Very cheerful and I would restock it if it were not a limited edition, but it does have very mixed reviews so try before you buy), Lush Posh Chocolate (the most edible-smelling chocolate bath product I've ever used, layers great with almost anything, and just a tiny dab mixed with the Mimosa smells so like a real chocolate covered orange that it ruined the Yves Rocher Orange Fondante for me. Cons: expensive, and comes in a tub).
Note: top image shows the a freestanding tub from the Kohler Veil Collection.
Good morning NST!
Stuff that’s always in my shower: Crabtree & Evelyn La Source; Body Shop Olive (reformulated this year, more floral, still ok, definitely better than the refo they did on the Olive Body Butter which made me CRANKY); L’Occitane Citrus Verbena; something lavender (L’Occitane Lavande, overpriced, won’t replace).
Rotating stuff: Lush Happy Hippy, Molton Brown Bursting Caju and Lime; Body Shop Cactus Blossom (very nice, discontinued of course); Philosophy Senorita Margarita.
My pergola continues in its wanderings. Yesterday FedEx loaded it onto a truck, drove it around all day, and took it home to the warehouse. Once again today they claim it’s out for delivery. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Meanwhile, husband and I have installed 3 out of 4 of our new skylight blinds, and are not yet divorced. 1 to go.
SOTD is Jo by Jo Loves. Grapefruit blah blah blah cedar. Nice.
Hahaha! My Fedex package now says it is coming Monday. Hopefully we both get lucky!
So after telling me it would be delivered Monday, they showed up this morning while I was out running errands and I missed them. SMH!
Oh my goodness, hope that pergola gets home soon! Glad you and husband are still getting along. Home stuff can bring out the worst sometimes.
No kidding 🙂 I am contemplating 2 furniture purchases from IKEA, but I think if I bring one more ‘assembly required’ item into this house, that could be the end of us.
And the check I re-sent for the kid’s instrument on Tuesday, supposedly 2-day UPS, has allegedly been in a warehouse in Kentucky since Wednesday. They won’t even assign a delivery date.
Good morning, it’s been storming here since the wee hours. Larry the cat is hiding and basically hates everything right now. Such a diva.
My shower has a great big bottle of Dr Bronner’s peppermint Castile soap, a summer staple. Also a jar of Tree Hut rose scented sugar scrub for the husband and a big bar of local spearmint soap for me. Also a bottle of Olay body wash for times when Dr Bronner’s is a bit too chilly. We are pretty boring over here.
I am boring too. I use the same over and over.
Another cloudy morning at the beach. My shower has the ginormous pump bottle of Neutrogena classic shower gel (Costco special), Lush Yummy Mummy, Yves Rocher Moroccan Rose, B&BW Candied Pear, and Salt Spring Soap Works Lavender & Thyme. Thinking about adding Lush Sticky Dates and wishing I had some of the Yves Rocher Monoï shower gel left.
Perfume of the day is from my latest 4160 Tuesdays delivery, Sun-Dappled Glade, from this year’s January Joy Box.
Oh I used to love Neutrogena shower gel. Haven’t smelled it in ages.
I’m a longtime fan the Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil.
I’m obsessed with bath products! I switch out scents by the season so right now of course is summer. I have Waverly Watermelon bar soap. For shower gels right now I have Philosophy Chocolate Orange, delicious and a decent price for their big bottles. B&BW Senorita Margarita, one of the only gels I’ve ever repurchased, it smells exactly like it says, limey, salty and a hint of tequila. Senses de Provence Linden, here in MN we call the trees Basswood, but it’s a favorite. Etros Honey, a gift from a friend, a homemade lemon sugar scrub and finally a small bottle of Weleda body oil for still wet post shower softening.
I’m slightly embarrassed by the large glass front cabinet in my bathroom chuck full of product! I have a tray of the prettiest bottles sitting on top, but inside 2 full shelves of gels, oils, creams and salts. Of course when friends see the giant pedestal soaking tub I think they understand 😉
And the outdoor shower at our cabin has B&BW Lemoncello and Native Cake! I think I have a gel addiction! Is there a group for that?
If so, I’ll join you. I have 2 bins of backup shower gels. All set for the next decade, I think.
I don’t feel so bad now!
Joining you in the addiction. I would need several life times to finish all my body products.
Morning, all! SOTM is Paris-Deauville for a much-needed haircut. My shower gel game hasn’t changed much since last year because I mostly use an un scented soap called Basis. Currently on the shower shelf are Shikai Yuzu, Mrs. Murphy shower gel in Basil, and an old Origins bottle refilled with the venerable Rain Bath in the original scent (which we own enough of for two lifetimes thanks to Costco). The Yuzu occasionally gets swapped out for Shikai’s Melon Cucumber one (or maybe it’s Cucumber Melon, I forget), and there’s also a bottle of their Sandalwood one that doesn’t see a lot of action. And a whole slew of Molton Brown minis that rotate in when I get antsy for something new. In a drawer somewhere is a plethora of scented soaps that I love the smell of but can’t use often because they’re a bit too drying. I used to love the satsuma one from B&BW, and may go back to it someday if they still make it.
Hope you got a perfect haircut!
You reminded me that I also bought ShiKai starfruit this year, but I don’t love it so it’s languishing at the back of the cabinet.
I should try the Mrs Murphy basil, but I guess I’d better use up a few bottle first.
The Body Shop Satsuma shower gel is a lovely treat in the morning, and the best vehicle for that scent, in my opinion. Juicy, sunlit, life-affirming orange, and nothing else. Perfection.
The only Lush body wash I’ve caved on was called Grass, long discontinued. After one sniff I couldn’t not buy it. Dark, dense green, like lawnmower mulch. It was the best scented shower product I’ve ever had. I still think about it! I see they’ve relaunched the scent as a $130 perfume, and…no thanks. Way to kill the vibe.
I’ll look for the Satsuma shower gel. I love orange!
I loved Grass. That was a great shower gel.
I am hopeless for this one, as I don’t really have any products other than soap, shaving soap, shampoo and conditioner in my shower. The soaps are made by me, and right now are alternating between espresso and peppermint. The shaving soap has a wild rose scent.
I’ve tried to get into Lush shower gels, but just can’t — just too much for me. I wanted to like Rose Jam, as I love rose, but it was too sweet. The kid and I like their bath bombs, but the shower gels are too much for both of us.
That said, if we move on to the sink, I’ve got tons right now! After Robin posted the link to the cute Tonymoly bunny lip glosses, I bought two for my daughter and niece, then splurged on their monthly box, which I’m really enjoying. There’s a watermelon face serum that I’m liking a lot, even though I don’t like watermelon and am picky about moisturizing. It doesn’t smell that strongly of watermelon, and it dries quickly. I’ve also got some eye packs, some nice peach-scented makeup remover wipes, and a ton of masks.
Oh — and I have a pack of hinoki to put in a bath, which I really have to use now, since the cat punctured it looking for treats the other morning.
Love that you make your own soaps!
Oh, a monthly TonyMoly box must be great fun!
Ooooh, good – I am already collecting ideas – the Philosophy chocolate orange and Body Shop Satsuma are now on the list. May also look for Lush Sticky Dates and Happy Hippy or the Weleda that Robin mentioned.
We’re a bit boring at the moment. Mr. SP and I both use Aveeno Skin Relief shower gel (no fragrance) and Dove Men+Care in the Clean Comfort scent (highly recommend for a drugstore item: a subtle clean cedar fragrance).
I have some Mistral soaps but I don’t use them in the shower–I have those in with my sheets in the linen closets for the scent. I especially love the Wild Blackberry one.
Correct name is Cocoa Orange Cream. I knew I didn’t get it right so I went and checked. They make a nice companion body cream too.
Thank you!
SOTD: Chantecaille Frangipane also lipstick, bronzer & eyeshadow from this brand.
I love the makeup from this line but not really familiar with the perfume but have a few samples. Let me know if there is anything I must try..
In my shower:
Saforelle an intimate wash for my 🌸
TIGI shampoo and also René Furterer shampoo. Caress bar soap.
I am boring huh?
Forgot to respond to yesterdays question from Jalapeno, yes I am feeling better. This heat is making me 🥵 🤧 feel so lethargic.
I think it makes everybody lethargic!
10.5 hours sleep
Shower stuff never changes
Bioderma shower oil to keep hives at bay
Neutrogena unscented body oil to keep hives at bay
Peach and Lily face cleanser for mornings
Post coffee and shower am reaching for Volutes again. Wore it yesterday and gosh, I smelled great!
You are the sleep queen! Getting such good sleep is life changing, no? Volutes is lovely. Do you have the edt or the edp?
I must sleep. I cannot function without it. the price I pay for turning 70 in 2023.
I have Volutes edp. I love both the edp and the edt.
Tell me more about Volutes?
Smoky, tobacco, Laotian honey. Like Indochine, but different.
I also had an extra amount of sleep last night. In my case, it seems, I get extra long, complex, vivid dreams when I sleep more, and it’s really true that I find them healing. Last night I dreamed I was attending a Muslim funeral of some sort, where people could join in on the prayers at the back (if non-Muslim). The strange thing was, I managed to sit down cross-legged, as was expected (in the dream), but had forgotten to remove my shoes. This was contrary to etiquette, but there was no way I could reach my feet (nor in reality could I sit cross-legged), but a kind woman came and removed them for me. The prayers proceeded, and then a soothsayer sort of person came around doing extremely elaborate genealogy tracings, just based, I guess, on looking at you and your palm. Oddly enough, I woke up from this dream feeling quite serene.
Oh, that’s a fabulous dream! And waking with a good feeling is always the best. You’re a very spiritually awakened gal, I think. I’ve had a couple dreams I woke from crying because I was so happy. I used to love to try and analyze my dreams and had several books that I referred to in order to do this. I’ve often dreamt of bridges and crossings of one kind or another, and frequently of family members that have passed. Also some pretty horrific nightmares when I was younger, but not so much anymore.
I love this poll! It’s how I learned about Shikai Yuzu years ago. I still have it in my shower. Over the past year my skin has become much more sensitive so I’m using Bioderma’s shower oil most of the time. I really wish I could find something this gentle with a scent. I also have Lush Rose Jam and Kiehl’s Coriander in my cabinet. I love both but haven’t been using them often. I also have Senteurs d’Orient’s orange blossom soap on a rope which smells lovely but is just too drying.
ShiKai Yuzu is the best, and it layers so nicely with other gels. Anything I am struggling to use up because it’s too boring, I add a little dollop of Yuzu.
In my shower right now:
-South of France Côte D’Azur Bar Soap,
-Nubian Heritage Mango Butter Bar Soap,
-Dr Bronner’s Peppermint Castile Bar Soap,

Wearing Atelier Cologne Clementine California for a day full of errands.
I will wear Chanel 31 Rue Cambon tonight. Yesterday was my mom’s birthday so we are having dinner at home tonight with my sisters and their families to celebrate. Passionfruit cake from our favorite local bakery and Greek take-out food because nobody was willing to cook with the overwhelming temperatures expected for today. (97 degrees, feeling in the 100’s).
Happy weekend, everyone! 🌞
Happy birthday to your mom!
Thank you, Sistine! 🌹
Happy birthday to mom! Impressed by your shower collection!
Thank you Deva! 🌻
I have to admit that I feel embarrassed by the amount of shower products that I have. It is a serious addiction. I lost count of how much I have accumulated during the last couple of years. It is ridiculous!
Nothing to be embarrassed about, just something to be enjoyed! ✌🏼
Happy Birthday to your mom. And enjoy your dinner tonight!
Thank you, Gail! 🌻
happy birthday to your mom!!
Thank you, Apsara!🌻
Hope it’s a wonderful evening and a belated happy birthday to your mom. You are smelling wonderful, as always!
Thank you Springpansy!🌹
Your birthday meal sounds delicious, happy birthday wishes to your mom!
Thank you, Cazaubon! 🌻
Happy Belated Birthday to your mom! I have a large partial bottle of 31RC EDT – I should wear it more often! A few more days of 🥵😈
Thank you, Hajusuuri!🌹
I keep forgetting to reach for my bottle of 31 Rue Cambon, so nice and easy to wear.
The 🔥🔥 is deeply trying my patience this time. Too many days in a row!
I hope you all had a fun evening! Passionfruit cake and Greek food sounds so good.
Thank you therabbitsflower! We had a very relaxing and pleasant time. The food and cake were great! 😋
Belated birthday wishes to your Mom! It sounds like the food and the company were wonderful.
Thank you, Jalapeno!🌹
Currently stocked with Yves Rocher Orange Fondante, Mure Gourmande and My Vanilla Garden shower gels and also have several Solstice Scents whipped soaps. I can’t seem to make a dent in the latter b/c there are so many…kind of like my perfume bottles. 🤣
Also want to try Sticky Dates which I have heard is mostly vanilla. 🙂
I have a date to go through stuff in my closet today. The regular closet w/ clothes…not the Closet of Shame w/ fragrance. 😉 Wish me luck. I also am going to gather some unloved perfumes and samples for my hairdresser’s daughter this weekend.
It can be both laborious and interesting to delve into the closet depths. I wish you luck!
Good luck on the closet mission!
I need to do a closet dive to get rid of some summer clothes. Now that I’m retired, so much is untouched, but still hard to part with…
“now that I am retired” are magical words, pixel.
I yearn to say them. One year and 9 months and I will be golden says my financial planner.
Yes, I’m almost there…but it’s a weird feeling. Weirdly wonderful, I hope.
I heartily recommend retirement 🙂
I heartily agree!
Now if my sister and I could decide on where to live. Sigh.
Good luck with the clean-out! And great idea to deal with some neglected scents!
Good luck with the cleanout, I just hauled two trash bags to Goodwill.
Heh I’ve also been doing a closet clean out, which is going pretty well except I’m slow to take things to Goodwill so the bags just keep hanging around. It’s tough when you don’t have a car and have to take multiple walking trips over to get it all gone. Luckily, it’s under a 15 minute walk, but that time feels long when your bags are heavy. I’ll work to make bags less heavy so I’ll have more motivation to go do it.
Good luck on your closet endeavor!
Current shampoo and conditioner are by Bread. The shampoo smells like Froot Loops and the conditioner smells like Rice Krispie treats! Not a fan of the packaging (pouches that fit awkwardly into my shower caddy) but I like everything else.
Shower gel: BBW winter candy apple
I don’t use bubble bath for, uh, reasons, but I like Dr. Teal’s cannabis epsom salts. They don’t smell like marijuana, nor do they have, shall we say, an unusually relaxing effect, but they help with aches and pains!
LOL with big sigh, caffeinequeen. You are not alone in having to curtail tub bath soaking products for “reasons!” Also, I want to smell like Rice Krispie treats. Now I might even want to make some to eat…today is shopping day…lemmings are dancing around…
Am also a big Yves Rocher fan, cunningly waiting for a sale and then buying enough to a) get free shipping and b) keep me clean for a good year. I am saving YR’s Orange Fondante for the cold weather, so currently in my shower stall there is YR’s mango coriander and magnolia, and then Chanel’s Paris-Venise which is lovely but ca. 20X the price so used once a week at most. I also have on standby YR’s olive petigrain, magnolia, and honeysuckle as well as a random bottle of Body Shop’s almond.
They just finished their 50% off sales here and I made it through unscathed, which is no easy feat considering there’s an outpost across the street from our newish Paris apt.
^Ears perk^: Newish Paris apt?? I want one of those!
Meh. It’s just another big city, similar to many others. I’m here because it’s where my married life is!
Seems like it would be fun to explore (and not just perfume — also markets and historical sites, museums, the various arrondissements)? I’ve never been.
YR sale prices are amazing! How is the magnolia?
In the shower at the moment:
Dove’s hypoallergenic care, unscented body wash (truly unscented – not even ‘masking fragrance’ or essential oils of any kind!) Superb for dry skin!
Bulldog’s Lemon & Bergamot body wash
Pulpe De Vie body wash in Energising Grapefruit (yes, I have a thing for crisp citrus notes to wake me up!)
There was a green tea body scrub I picked up from Lidl but it’s all gone now. :/
And that’s it! I used to keep 7 or 8 different things in there but have pared down quite a bit!
I ought to pare down…but right away the Pulpe De Vie body wash Energising Grapefruit caught my eye!
It’s a brand from Marseille but knowing Petit Marseillais is also in the US, you might be able to find it there easily. It’s my favorite of the scented body washes I have now.
Thanks, I will keep an eye out.
No shower here so I have to cart everything to a shower somewhere else. Thus, things are at the bare minimum. Just ran out of Dr Bronner’s Hemp Almond Castile Soap, which I used for everything from dishes to doggo to me. That bottle lasted a looong time! Now have something from the Hemp Brand called Banana Sucre Body Wash (on sale at Ulta) which just smells like vanilla. Slathered all over after is the Body Shoppe Shea Butter and a special foot ointment to keep feet soft but can’t remember the name of it. It’s one of those “clinical” types of ointments thus has no scent whatsoever. Was contemplating Nuxe oil on Amazon, but decided to keep it cheap and simple.
Speaking of Ulta, I was perusing the aisles and gave La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal a spritz. Theoretically, it’s things I should hate. Namely, “yellow” and “white” florals. It also has things I love; vanilla, Iris, woods. I really enjoyed that single spritz! Does that make me a Perfumista Loser? Ah, well, such is life. No need for a bottle of any size because I would use it so rarely even a travel size would be a waste. I think I liked it because it was completely different than anything I own.
Anyway, today I’m wearing EL Bronze Goddess because it’s summer and it hot. Will be at a hotel next week because the weather is hellish hot, like above 90’s hot! 🥵 Come on, FALL! 🍂🍁
Have a good weekend, fragrant folk!
hydrate, Deva!!
So hydrated I have to stay close to a BR! 😬
All I can say is “Come on Spring!!!”I’m so over this Winter…5 more weeks…5 more weeks!!
Stay Cool D!
I say let’s trade weather and we’ll both be ecstatic! 😀
Hey, we all have one or more fragrances that someone else would turn their nose up at, right?
I’m also dreading the hot temps in Western WA this week! the part that stresses me most is how hard it is to sleep when it’s hot. I commend you on getting a hotel room! Last year when we had the heat dome that made it the upper 90s and low 100s for a few days, we treated ourselves to a hotel that weekend. Only bad part was coming home to a very hot apartment.
I was here last year for that event and it wasn’t fun! 🥵 But, just cancelled hotel reservations and since I’m off Tuesday through Saturday will instead drive to Anacortes/Whidbey Island which is an hour or so away and about 30F cooler. One of the advantages of having a mobile home! I hate being stuck in a motel room if I don’t have to be, plus the cost has just become outrageous. Stay cool, hope you have A/C or a cool place to escape to! 🔥
Oh, that sounds much nicer than a motel. Enjoy your excursion!
I remain a boring bar of soap and bottle of shampoo person. I am making notes and might try various products mentioned today. I very much enjoyed some Lush products I bought as a result of the last poll. I will re-purchase Lush’s Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar. I tried Monday Shampoo because I wheeled right past a display at Kroger. That reminded me of reading good reviews of it. It is very light and mild; repurchase? Maybe! For nostalgia, I’ve been using Cuticura soap. That’s the blue one, and my Mother was very loyal to it. It has a distinctive old school freshness; because of the color, I think chamomile is involved. I enjoy it after sweaty garden work. SotD Alien, over some remnants of yesterday’s Casmir. Rather nice. Stay cool, y’all!
I remember Cuticura soap! I had terrible acne as a teen and that was my dermatologist’s suggestion, so I used it for years. I also have memories of my sister and I using it for soap carving bcs of it’s unusual color.
Cuticura – blast from my past.
Cuticura,I used the foaming facewash as a teen when I had the odd spot or pimple. It had such a distinctive smell!
In the shower:
Trader Joe’s Almond Shower Oil and Lavender Salt Scrub
Lush: Lord of Misrule, Rose Jam, Sticky Dates and What’s Up Doc? shower gels, Magic Crystals body scrub.
Why yes, I do like Lush products!
SOTD is Act & Acre’s Rebalancing scent.
I do love the TJ’s soap / scrub / moisturizer products. Their eye cream is perfect for me — light and inexpensive. Oh, Trader Joe’s, what we would give to have you in Canada…
How is the TJ Lavender scrub? My skin is very sensitive to scrubs and I am still unsure if I should open the container that I purchased a couple of weeks ago.
I think you can be pretty gentle with the scrub. However, I’ve decided I’m not going to repurchase it even though it smells amazing – it’s so oily that it makes my shower floor dangerously slippery! I don’t need that kind of stress.
Thanks for letting me know, Sistine. I will definitely not use it if it so oily. With my very old and sick mom living with me I can’t risk a fall, especially if I do not have the chance to clean the shower floor immediately. You saved us from unnecessary trouble. Thank you!
Happy weekend!
I always keep a bar soap and two shower gels in the shower these days, and I pretty much just use up a shower gel before I start using another. Right now I’m using Lush Flying Fox, which is my last bottle that I found on eBay years ago and has honestly seen better days, L’Erbolario Rhubarb, and Nesti Dante Cucumber bar soap. The FF is starting to smell a bit vinegary so it’s a good lesson for me to use Lush shower gels ASAP even if I want to hoard them. The L’Erbolario Rhubarb is a non-sweet sour and masculine leaning rhubarb. For its closest perfume relation, I’d compare to Chanel Paris-Edimbourg.
On deck for shower gels: Molton Brown Ylang Ylang, Yves Rocher Blackberry, and Philosophy Apricots and Cream. Robin, I used the YR Orange Fondante in winter and quite enjoyed it. My big winner from that order was My Vanilla Garden, which was way more sudsy and moisturizing than most other YRs that I’ve tried and smelled amazing.
On deck for bar soap: shockingly I have just one bar soap left! It’s another Nesti Dante in Broom (Ginestra). But never fear. Just yesterday I got an email that Bruno Fazzolari restocked soaps, so I have big bars of Lilac Toast and Black Suede heading my way. I’ve already tried them in the smaller sized three pack and know I love them.
For hair, I have really been enjoying the smell of Tigi Bed Head Self-Absorbed. I only have the shampoo left, and the formula for the comditioner didn’t do my hair any favors so I won’t rebuy. I moved on to Giovanni Smoothing Castor Oil Conditioner that I found at the grocery store, and my hair is much happier.
No perfume yet today. Last night I sampled four perfumes that were all pretty boring. Luckily, none of them have stuck around so I’m just sitting around unscented for a little bit.
I love Nesti Dante but just don’t have room for the bars in my shower, so a bar lasts me for eons. And that’s also how long I’ve wanted the Broom bar, I think that’s one of Kevin’s favorites.
I really liked Orange Fondante until I tried the Lush Chocolate…so I never should have tried the Lush Chocolate, ha! It really does deserve the name “Posh”. If I do another order I will try to get the My Vanilla Garden.
Aw, that’s too bad you don’t have the space for the big Nesti Dante bars. I’ll report back on Broom once I start using it, but it has been extremely strong smelling in my closet where it’s been stored for a few years.
Unfortunately, I think My Vanilla Garden was limited edition, but I hope they bring it back!
Happy to report that I used the Flying Fox today, and it smelled normal. I did shake up the bottle a bit the last time I used it, so maybe that’s what made it smell different.
Still anosmic here, so commando.
My shower has Herbal Essences White Grapefruit and Mint shampoo, which I usually follow with some HIF volume cleanser that I let sit while I shower instead of using conditioner. I just opened an Hermes Sur Le Nil soap that a friend gifted me. Very, very nice. I also still have some Olay Strawberry and Mint shower mousse and a backup of the shower gel. I too have some Yves Rocher Orange Fondante. But it’s the oil scrub. And a travel size shower gel of BBW Cherry Blossom. I have some Blanc Lilas soap waiting in the wings that I should have opened before the Hermes. It’s perfect for summer.
My husband has his own gels, etc. but I ignore his shelf. They’re all scented.
I generally prefer actual bar soap to body washes, so not sure why I ended up with the Olay in gel form…
Hope your smell is back very soon LizzieB!
Also, meant to ask folks if they are having trouble accessing the Tauer site..? I keep getting an error message that says “forbidden…” I have not idea why, I’ve been trying for 2 days and no luck…👎🏼
It must be Donnatella yelling “FORBIDDEN!!” in her familiar italian accent!🤣🤣✌🏻🤗
Pretty sure my spending places me well beneath her notice! 😃
I had this problem a few months ago, and am still having it today. I messaged back and forth with someone at Tauer who insisted there was no issue with the site and I just needed to try a different browser or computer. I tried on something like 4 browsers (Firefox, Safari, Edge, Internet Explorer), three OSs (Mac, iOS, Windows), and many different devices, and nothing worked. In the end, I gave up and ordered through Luckyscent.
Gosh, don’t you just love when people dismiss you?! Jeez, you’d think they’d be happy to know so they can fix it. I’ll try at work tonight and see what happens. I’m on my phone (safari) and never had a problem before. I want to peruse stuff that’s not on Luckyscent, plus, I am not a Luckyscent fan since the fiasco with my bottle of Bengale Rouge two summers ago. I will buy from just about anywhere except Luckyscent if I can possibly do so.
Having been through this before, it is probably nothing that he can fix since it probably isn’t anything wrong on his end.
Worth trying:
https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
Actually I think this is the one I use:
https://isitdownorjust.me/
I am using the most updated version of Chrome on a Mac and can get to it no problem. You should try Chrome or Firefox or an alternate browser to whatever you using.
I think I need to do an update!
Sometimes you need to reboot your computer. Turn it completely off, not just resting and wait 15 minutes and then restart. This helps sometimes, not always, but worth a try.
On an iPhone, so that didn’t work, either, but a good suggestion. Rebooting usually fixes most things.
I’m on an iPad running Safari and can access the site.
Hmm, that’s odd. I may need to update because it’s been a while. I only have WiFi at work, so I will try to update tonight to see if that makes a difference.
That’s usually the trouble with my Ipad,if I’m behind with an update things get wonky and I shout at the cellular company for no reason…Lol.
Ahhh, shower poll, one of my favorites!
Dove Summercare Grapefruit & Lemonbalm shower gel, EO French Lavender shower gel. I’m really a fan of the Dove. Hoarding the EO since it’s expensive and probably won’t get replaced.
Target Up&Up Apricot Scrub, which I use on elbows and knees only. It’s just too abrasive for my face.
For hair, Pantene Hair Volume Multiplier shampoo is still my go to. I’m using Kristin Ess leave-in conditioner, but am also using a travel size of Nick Chavez Plump’n Thick Leave-In Thickening Creme Conditioner discovered during a closet clean out. The Chavez is ancient, but still smells okay, and I actually prefer it to the Ess product. I don’t even know if they still make it or not. Really trying to use stuff up.
A bottle of Shikai Yuzu shower gel is waiting for cooler weather and drier skin. That’s coming, right?
I’m in Chanel Eau de Cologne today. It’s so good, from start to finish. I’ve been thinking about it for a couple of days, and it was time. ❤️
Y’all have a good weekend! 🌞
You smell good. Judging by the hot weather mess, it may be a while before we experience any sort of cool.
That Dove sounds really nice!
Good things are happening! My Boyfriend sample arrived last night after being “Out for Delivery” since Monday. I had high hopes for it, and I love the prominent plum note, but there’s too much amber in it for me. Plus, I identified the problem with my a/c and should be able to fix it on Tuesday when the part arrives, so I will be sweltering only 3 days this week instead of 7.
Insofar as shower products, I am still using Atelier Orange Sanguine shower gel, from the bottle that never seems to end. I have some Lush stuff in the cupboard, Hot Toddy, Rose Jam, and Flying Fox, but I don’t really like them. I seem to prefer citrus for showering.
Oh, happy to hear you can fix your A/C! Sorry Boyfriend didn’t work out. They usually don’t anyway, so he’s par for the course!
Sorry that Boyfriend wasn’t a success after all that waiting for delivery.
If you decide you’d like to swap your Flying Fox shower gel for some perfume, please let me know!
Reports of my demise are highly exaggerated…
Hiiii!!
I’m finally home from being on the other side of medical care.Yes,I was a patient, yes I was in a car-crash-pile-up of note on the freeway, yes I was badly hurt and yes this all happened on my damn birthday!Lol!
I’m fine now, spent a couple of days in a step-down facility as well, but can finally say “phew”.
Perfume was not high on my agenda unfortunately, but slowly getting back into it.I missed my own place,my bed and everything familiar.Fun to read everyone’s shower contents!
*Ockeghem*!I’m sorry I missed you while you were here,I hope you had a wonderful epic trip!
SOTD!No-brainer Cuba Paris,nice vanilla/tobacco,comforting on a chilly eve.
Happy weekend NST!
Xo’s
Oh that’s terrible. I hope you are doing okay and looking forward to a full recovery. Sending you a big get well hug and happy birthday for before.
Thanks Kanuka!☀️🤗✌🏻
I’m SO SO glad to hear you’re doing well! I’ve been worried about you. I didn’t realize it was on your *birthday* — how awful!
Yes, the trip was epic. Cape Town was so beautiful, and the safaris were amazing. I’m so sorry that I couldn’t get that bottle of Phi to you, though. Unless we can think of a way to get it from Canada to South Africa, I guess I won’t complain about having a full bottle. 🙂
I’m glad your trip was a good one!Hope Cape Town showed some sunshine at least!
It was all such a mess,my brother did say he corresponded with someone regarding perfumes, but it was around the time he had to depart to Australia again.I’ve not checked my emails yet,I’m so behind!
Enjoy that bottle of Phi on my behalf!
XO’s🌹🤗
Yes, your brother let me know what was up, and that he was about to head home. I am so glad now to hear that you’re out the other side. All of your recommendations were very helpful — thank you so, so much. And I hope you can celebrate your very belated birthday now.
Oh that’s awful, what you have been through! Glad you are on the mend.
Thank you!Getting there slowly but surely!
Oh no – So glad to see that you are recovering and back on NST. Celebrate your birthday another day for sure. ♥
Absolutely! At least my sense of humor have not been damaged, and I can still smell all the goodsmellies!I missed the stash at home!Xo’s
I would say the sense of humor is crucial to recovery.
I can only totally agree!
Goodness! Very glad you are home and it sounds like on the path to mending. I know your bottles of scents are happy to have you back.
Well I’m happy if they are!Haha!Good to “see” you LizzieB!✌🏻🌹
Oh my goodness, I’m very glad to hear you are on the mend! Nice to see you here.
Hii Gail!Glad to still be around!
Oh, no! Glad to have you back and on the mend. Let’s hope this is your WORST birthday of all time — May there be many happy, healthy ones to come.
Haha!Thank you!Yes,this one defo counts as the worst.I’ll double-celebrate next year!✌🏻🌹🤗
What terrible news, I’m glad you survived and are on the mend! Do you have any perfume shopping recommendations for Cape Town? Someone on FB was inquiring.
Maybe ockeghem can chime in,as she was in Cape Town quite recently!
There are a couple of options, the usual suspects for international brands, and then a couple of scattered South African brands.Cape Town does have some treasures, much more than here up north in Johannesburg.
I think they were interested in local SA brands.
In other news, just got my shipment of Ouma Buttermilk rusks from the local north american SA importer. 🙂 afternoon tea time treat!
Dip an Ouma!!
Haha!A classic staple,and ALWAYS in my pantry(yes the buttermilk!)Enjoy T!🤗
They should look in at Bastille / Maison Mara in Cape Town, for sure. They have both House of Gozdawa and Apartment (as well as a number of brands we can get at home). I really liked the Apartment scents, and what I smelled from House of Gozdawa was beautifully put together, though the three I smelled didn’t quite grab me personally. (Alexandra Höjer was also listed as a stockist for a number of local perfumes, but didn’t have any in store — but did have some lovely sweaters.)
I can also just chime in with a couple of my favorite local brands:
1.)Wick Fragrances does have a store in Cape Town(and online, fast delivery). They of course make the awesome Fabulous Human and Reine du Volcan, both in travel sizes as well.
2,)Apartment fragrances are nicely done, they’re also online and like ockeghem mentioned, available at some niche stores.I have “Page 28 is missing” and one other of which the name escapes me now.
3.)Frazer parfums is definitely worth looking into,as well as House of Gozdawa,Saint d’Ici and “Rose en Bos”.
The Jane Valken boutique carries Saint d’Ici.
“My Perfume Shop” in Rondebosch is worth having a look at for some international brands,at really great prices.
The V&A waterfront and Cavendish square are the best 2 mall-like plafes for some serious shopping of any kind.
XO’s
I’m so glad to hear you’re OK, not a birthday you’ll want to remember.
Hell.No.Lol.
And thanks Gaynor,I’ll be OK.✌🏻🌹
I’m relieved to hear you’re alright now, and with your good nature and humor obviously in tact! Welcome back!
Thank you Tulipani,so good to catch up here tonight,I’ve been scrolling through the past couple of weeks’ happenings on NST!Mango weeks seems like it was fun,and the 5(?) Steps from Chanel No.5 were all so creative and fun.
Holy Krakatoa Batman! I’m so sorry to hear this, but so happy you came out the other side in one piece! It’s not easy being a patient, especially after such a traumatic experience. I hope you continue to heal and feel better every day!
Thanks Deva,I won’t go into too much detail, but it was pretty awful and scary there for a minute. The most ridiculous crash to be involved in(reports say 19 vehicles piled up),but yes, healing is going well and I’ll be 100% before Spring!!🤗🌹✌🏻
So glad you are mending well! Definitely gift yourself a different birthday later this year 🙂
Thank you pixel!I’ll do a proper birthday next year,double the fun!Haha ✌🏻🌹
Scary! And on your birthday no less. Glad you are home and recovering!
Thanks madtowngirl, glad to still be around for sure.🤗
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about all you went thru. I hope you recover soon!. Sending scented and healing vibes! 🌹🧡
Hiii M!
Thank you so much!
Hope your weekend is fun and not *too* hot!
☀️🤗🌹
Oh no, how completely terrible! I’m very glad to see you back here, and glad the recovery is under way. Happy belated birthday!
Thank you Calypso,how are you?
We could have done some rehab together, with wine and perfumes as company!Haha!🤗🌹✌🏻
Glad to see you back here again. Heal well and congrats on being back to the familiar!
Thank you hajusuuri, hows life on your side?🤗🌹
Hot 🥵 weather-wise but otherwise quite good!
I can do with HOT!!
Although tonight is 14° celcius, not too bad.
Gracious J, I was hoping you were ok, now I’m doubly glad to hear that you are.
That’s quite a story, and I’m sure skalolazka is right that now all your other birthdays will seem wonderful in comparison.
Hi Robin!
Thanks for checking in!Hope all is well on your side as well!
Something like this sure put things in perspective, the 2020’s are putting us through it like nothing else!Lol.
✌🏻🤗🌹
Oh J B! I am so glad you are ok!
How very scary!
❤️🌞
Hiiii Sunshine!
Thanks for saying hello, hope you are enjoying your summer!🤗🌹☀️
Time 7;51 Sunday morning.😉
I am glad “hear” you got through that, and sorry such a thing happened to you. Be sure to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies while you are healing!
Thanks for saying Hallo Mossyberry!Always good to “see” you here!
Also terribly sorry to hear this and so happy you are ok. I was in a car accident on Xmas Eve of 2020 and it was very scary. Mentally I think I am still processing it and have some fear while driving. It has really made me think about the fragility of life and the randomness and risks….stuff I was already contemplating due to Covid too. Sending you great big hugs as you continue to heal.
Thank you She-ra!
Due to a legal process, I can’t go into too much detail, but I was not driving myself and my car is safely at home!Still, scary experience and would not ever want a repeat.I’m having trouble sleeping although much of the incident is fragments and fairly fuzzy to me.Stay safe!
And I thought covid was a bummer…LOL.
Xo’s
I’m so thankful you are here! I hope you have a speedy, fragrant recovery.
Thank you Sistine!
Fairly fragrant today in Pour une homme de Caron!I needed the calming burnt sugariness of this gorgeous scent today!
XO’s
Wow, I’m so glad you’re ok! That all sounds really scary.
I’m OK!😉🌹
ZOMG! How horrible! So glad to hear that you are all right, and that no lasting damage occurred as a result of the pile-up.
Morning! The stars are out, the sky is bright.
My bathroom is very ugly 70s and rudimentary. If you are in the shower and someone decides to fill the kettle in the kitchen all the water disappears and you are left standing in the cold with just a trickling spit from the shower head for company. So it’s not a place for candles and champagne and long soaks ( no bath). I don’t use plastic so….I like Thursday Plantation tea tree soap. This is Australian tea tree ( not the NZ tea tree/Manuka ) so is much stronger smelling, almost like a mix of gum and turpentine bush.
Shampoo and conditioner is a NZ brand Ethique ( available in US) which comes in a solid bar. They also do concentrates which come in a solid bar but you dissolve with boiling water and decant into your own bottles. They last longer than Lush shampoo bars. Nice scents.
https://ethique.com/collections/shampoo
That’s about it really.
I have to give a talk at the library today ( last time I gave a talk was March 2020 before the borders closed, and I was on stage with someone who had flown in from America, and feeling nervous about Delta) and just realised I no longer have any “good” clothes that still fit. I lost about 15kg when I was sick. I am such a scruff but I do have an outrageous pair of Mexican cowboy boots that I found in an op shop years ago. So, I am planning to focus all attention on my feet and see how that goes.
Keep warm! Wearing Mitsuoko. Yum.
Love the Mexican cowboy boots. Hope it goes really well.
After I posted about wanting the shower gels I see mentioned I remembered my goal of less plastic…so maybe I’ll start using those Mistral soaps I am currently using as sachets!
Good luck with your talk! Interesting accessories are a good distraction. 🙂
Good luck with the talk, those boots sound amazing!
You smell wonderful, I was twinning with you last night.
Best of luck with the talk!
Hope your talk goes well!
Oh my, hope the talk goes well.
Good luck with the talk!
Hope the talk went wonderfully Kanuka, and hope the boots were a big hit.
I hope it went well today. Your boots sound awesome. I’m jealous of your feet!
How was your talk?Let us all know pls!🤗
I am boring when it comes to the bath. I am using a gigantic Saponificio Varesino bar soap with a light jasmine scent and I have a mini L’Ombre Dans L’Eau bath gel which always reminds me what a lovely fragrance this is.
And I posted this PSA yesterday but thought I’d share it again –
My local Seattle perfume shop Essenza is selling their Diptyque EDPs and EDTs at a 20% discount because Diptyque decided to pull out of small perfume shops and only sell at larger department stores (boo hiss). No affiliation other than I visit a lot and think they are wonderful.
They don’t have everything in stock but they still have a lot of the scents. They’re not set up for online ordering per se, but you can email them or call to make a transaction at https://essenza-inc.com/
That is a really good deal, hope someone can take advantage of it!
Hi, everyone! So many great suggestions here. I am currently using some neroli soap bars from a brand in Brazil called Granado. Also, just bought an orange face scrub from Clarins, lovely. The satsuma shower gel sounds good, will check it out next week. Shikai Yuzu nowhere to be found here in Europe.
Ah, also bought some mimosa liquid hand soap from Zara Home on sales!
I’m wanting to try the new-ish showergels from Clarins, they all sound really good!
I will also claim boring status for my shower. Lush Plum Rain is my only shower gel ATM; when empty, it will be replaced by the last bottle of Body Shop Love and Plums that I scored on sale and brought back from Galway. Also have Aveda Cherry Almond shampoo and conditioner; love the scent but they are not great for my hair, so won’t repurchase; Aveda Purple Toning shampoo and conditioner, which I guess has a scent but I don’t think of it as scented (and only leave them on for a minute, anyway); a locally made peppermint foot scrub; my last-ever tube of the discontinued Aveda Smoothing Body Polish (LOVE the product, LOVE the scent, will miss it terribly), and a tub of Briogeo Scalp Revival shampoo, which not only works miracles on my hair but smells, to me, like a Thin Mint cookie. Unfortunately, the conditioner (Don’t Despair, Repair), which also works miracles on my hair, has a different fragrance and it’s not one I like. But the scent doesn’t linger, and I use it about once/week, so I can cope with the scent to get such great results.
Commando for now, but will choose something post-shower. We are Zoom chatting this evening (our time) with our daughter on the other side of the planet (13.5-hour time diff).
Enjoy your zoom chat with your daughter!😊
I continue to be boring with shower products, shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair, and an unperfumed body wash to try and minimise itchy skin. I save myself for the perfume 🙂
Speaking of which, I got lots of samples with my Luckyscent order, catching up on 6 months worth of new releases I’d been wanting to try. Sacred Scarab is nothing like what I was expecting, it’s much more about jasmine. It’s interesting, but I don’t think I’d wear it often. It hasn’t dethroned Camel from my possible future purchases. I was very excited to try Hera from Papillon, but it hasn’t grabbed me so far, which is a relief, given the price.
I’m in two minds about Hera. Sometimes I think it’s too green for me, almost bitter. Others I love it, especially the dry down on my clothes.
Sacred Scarab also was underwhelming to me.
Sacred scarab was good enough for me although no lasting power at all.
All of the Zoologist perfumes I have tried seem to disappear after 3 or 4 hours on me.
Happy weekend, everyone!
I really need to step up my shower game, since my new house doesn’t have a tub. Yet I’m trying to avoid using plastics and have been trying to only buy soaps. Right now I’m using up a Ritual foaming shower gel in the Happy Buddha scent (sweet orange and cedar). It’s so good and I will be sad when I finish it. I usually just pick up whatever soap catches my eye at Whole Foods. But the next time I’m at Lush I think I’ll treat myself; the Sleepy and Karma soaps are my favorites and I want to explore others.
Still commando at the moment for a day of putzing around the house. We’re freecycling our old tv, and the people coming to get it have been very flakey. Argh!
I’ve bought myself a set of Hendley perfume samples and have been enjoying trying them. So far I really enjoy Rosenthal and Untitled (a vetiver scent). And PSA, Hendley is having a 20% off sale, on any order. It even worked on my discovery set. No affiliation!
I liked Rosenthal when I tried some recent samples. Can’t believe your house has no bath! It’s a must for me.
Yeah, we’ve looked at houses with no tub and I just don’t think I could do it. On the other hand, I have lived without a shower for a few years in an apartment that only had a claw foot tub.
Tubs are a must for me too! Could be a childhood thing? I loved having a bath at my Grandmother’s house, because she always had Zest soap! For some reason, we never did when I was growing up.
My grandparents in Prince Albert never had a shower, only a bath with a hand sprayer attachment.
I never take baths – would be fine with without a tub!
Not a bath person either. Give me a steaming hot shower any day! 🚿
No bath person here too and I have a tub in the 2nd bathroom.
I’m part of the “no bath” club. Much prefer showers at this point.
And here I go for a bath rather than a shower whenever I have enough time get away with it. I have an admittedly unreasonable dislike for squeegeeing the shower, plus with baths you get bath bombs!
That Happy Buddha scent is so good! I first encountered it at a boutique hotel in Barcelona. Just don’t get the dish soap (doesn’t clean well) although I don’t believe you were planning on buying anything with plastic packaging.
My bath and shower products are just a collection of Lush soaps. I use them equally as shower gel substitute, hand wash and even make up remover with a little bit of oil. The argan rose soap in particular is perfect for that (face wash), as it’s so gentle. And I love the smells. Actually a particular limited edition soap from Lush (snowcake) is what sent me down the fragrant obsession path about 10 years ago.
This weekend I’m trying out Sana Jardin samples, and I’m very impressed so far. The florals in particular. Jaipur Chant which I’m wearing now is a beautiful tuberose. They all smell really natural, cannot detect the aromachemicals that usually bother me.
I’ve been curious about that line. Thanks for the report!
They sell very reasonably priced discovery sets in Cult beauty for £30. Savage Jasmin is another lovely one, it’s a non suffocating but pure jasmine. I might get this one where I did not get SL A la Nuit. I haven’t liked so many samples from a single brand in a long time.. They smell like they have quality raw materials, the only downside may be that they’re on the softer side, so not massive lasting power. A few hours though and good enough for me, I prefer this type of scent these days.
Beautyhabit has a 10-piece Sana Jardin sampler set for $39.
The shower is in summer mode with Body Shop Lemon Purifying Body Wash, Korres Olive Oil Body Wash in both Chamomile Tea and Olive Blossom, Yves Rocher Grapefruit and Thyme Body Wash. I think it is discontinued so I stocked up back in the winter. Wish they would hang onto this unusual, juicy, tart citrus and discontinue some of the more common sweet scents they carry that are easily found in other lines… anything with vanilla/peach/berries. Please Yves? And bring back that Green Bamboo one as well – it was fabulous! For bar soap there is Lothantique Marine. I love any of those Province made soaps with the Marine scent or the Green Tea scent which is not what you’d expect… much heavier and more herbal, with a touch of patchouli – not like Bvlgari’s Green Tea.
I am happy on this hot, humid day to be wearing AA Mandarine Basilic. Thankfully this past week in Toronto has been the first oppressive heat we have had all summer. Up until now it’s been in the mid 20s Celsius with low to no humidity and a breeze. Perfect summer weather. I’m usually done with the heat by now but not this year!
Mandarine Basilic is such a great hot weather scent!
I’m pretty boring; I use unscented soap (usually Dove or Ivory) on the days that I wear perfume so as not to compete. On my “days off”, I use some kind of shea butter and coconut body wash, sometimes from St. Ives, sometimes the generic brand; this time I have Olay because it was on sale and I had a coupon.
Today’s soup: Vetivyer (again), I kinda like it.
I’m boring when it comes to shower stuff. Rainbath is the constant around here, everyone loves it. For my face I have Jordan Samuel The After Show Treatment cleanser for sensitive skin, which is one of the most amazing cleansers I’ve ever used. The texture is like nothing I’ve ever used and it leaves my skin so hydrated. It’s my morning cleanse. In shampoos, I’m currently on the quest for a good one. I’ve tried Verb Ghost which I did not like so much, it felt drying to me. My hairdresser recommended Surface Trinity, and although it’s labeled for colored hair which I don’t have, she said to give it a try and I am really liking it. It’s got a really good lather. Just wish it wasn’t so much 🤑.
It’s super hot and humid here today. I’m in TF Eau de Soleil Blanc. I’ve been watching the radar all day and we are line for some heavy storms. Glad they are coming tonight and not tomorrow when I have to drive. Finished up the last few things on my daughters 4 page packing list for camp. PCR test came back negative last night, that was really the last thing we were waiting on. She is ready! So excited for tomorrow, and I’m excited to drop her off and see my older daughter.😍
Those are some nasty storms! I just had one go through but thankfully didn’t get the worst of it. Drive safe and have a great visit!
Thanks lillyjo! They sure were! We had some at dinner time and then again in the middle of the night. Lots of lightening, thunder and wind. Stay safe!
I have definitely cut down on spending for shower gels in the last year or 2. I need to use up what I have on hand as there is still quite a stash. Here’s what’s in my shower right now.
Shower gels and Soaps:
1. Lush Rose Jam
2. Lisa Hoffman shower gel (from the storage archives in the closet, I believe the scent is orchid something).
3. Caesars Ferentina shower gel (also from the archives)
4. L’Occitane Amande Shower Oil
5. L’Occitane Verbena bar soap
6. Lush Alkmaar soap (from said archives).
Hair things:
1. L’Occitane Repair Shampoo
2. L’Occitane Repair Conditioner
3. Johnsons Baby Shampoo
4. Lush Daddy-O Shampoo – love the violet scent of this!
5. Joico Moisture Recovery Conditioner
6. Garnier Whole Blends Almond Conditioning Milk
7. Yves Rocher Brilliance Shine Raspberry Vinegar
Wearing Shalimer Parfum Initial as my sotd. Happy Saturday everyone!
I am a HUGE fan of the Lush Daddy-o shampoo, not just for the scent,it’s truly the only shampoo I’ve found to keep the brassiness away from my “natural” blonde tresses, and I’ve tried them all!The woodsy violet scent is lovely though!
Although I used to like and use various shower gels, they’re strictly verboten now because they make the shower or tub SLIPPERY and thus DANGEROUS. I make do with regular white Dial soap and a few mundane shampoos.
But because I was feeling left out today after beginning to read all the poll answers, once I dried off from my shower I got out my precious very old now-separating jar of Mitsouko body cream and applied some here and there, and I’ve been wafting beautiful peachy smells all day.
This afternoon I finally went and got my 2nd Covid booster shot, because the variant seems to be infecting almost everyone I know now, for the 1st/2nd/even 3rd time. I’ve mostly stayed inside for six months but am beginning to emerge a bit so I’d like to be as safe as I can. People around here mostly do not wear masks any more. But you are required to at the hospital, physical therapy place, and my doctors’ offices.
On another topic, I’m enjoying the new (8th) season of Brokenwood. It is about as far from being noir as a police murder drama can get. It’s just quite cleverly done, a relaxing thing to watch, and the scenery (somewhere in New Zealand–??) is gorgeous. I just love seeing the coastlines, villages, trees, etc. It’s on Amazon Prime/Acorn TV.
I like that series too, although I haven’t watched it recently. I got sidetracked, in the best possible way, by Seinfeld.
You should consider getting one of these:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-Tub-Transfer-Bench-And-Bath-Seat-FGB153GB-THD/312272468?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D29B-029_009_BATH_ACC-NA-Multi-NA-PLA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-NA&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D29B-029_009_BATH_ACC-NA-Multi-NA-PLA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-NA-71700000032919342-58700003861054714-92700072020860357&gbraid=0AAAAADq61Uf-T9A1pAZ9Q3ICmvS7pLatJ&gbraid=0AAAAADq61Uf-T9A1pAZ9Q3ICmvS7pLatJ&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIppTdr5CQ-QIVvj2tBh0D5A-FEAQYBCABEgLyK_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#overlay
And get a hand held shower head so you can sit and decrease the risk of falling. I can’t tell you how many patients I see hospitalized because they’ve fallen and no one has found them four hours or days. Most of them never return to their prior level of independence either, so think seriously about some DME aides to help you out.
*for hours or days…
I still haven’t got back to Stranger as the house is still full of work from home types. I have been enjoying Sherwood , an English drama with David Morrissey and Lesley Manville.
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/jun/13/sherwood-review-the-cleverest-most-compelling-show-ive-seen-in-years?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
I’ve never watched Brokenwood but the police station in it is the old post office in a small town called Helensville. It’s about 30 mins from central Auckland. My friend lived next door in the converted bank. It’s a cool wee spot on the coast with a beautiful estuary and it is also a nearby home to wild kookaburras. These were brought from Australia by the Governors wife in the 1860s and they stuck around.
Oh I recognize that slippery and dangerous shower! My husband put in a couple grab bars that I still rely on.
Glad to hear that you got your second booster!
Congrats on that second booster!
SOTD = Bruno Fazzolari Ummagumma
So good. Instagram made me do it. I’ll post a picture at some point. In the meantime, it is stinking hot 🥵.
I got my haircut today! So you hear all sorts of stuff when you’re in a beauty salon. I am usually more generous but I am cranky. Someone mentioned that she is getting a cut and a dye job because she has to look beautiful for her upcoming vacation. I hate to say it but she needs more than that.
On a lighter note, the cafe at my Whole Foods reopened today! I got my inaugural margarita and chips today. Next time, I will get my usual fish taco 😋.
As to what’s in my shower, nothing really special even though I have many from which to choose: soap is Pacha soap which has a dark brown beige sand and green hue – smells nice and I am using the occasional Native Matcha shower gel and Hotel Costes shampoo. My sink currently has one – a bright red Hotel Costes hand soap – nice!
The beauty salon remark had me laughing. You would be fun to go people watching with! 🤣
Let’s do it … when I am in your part of the country!
Love the salon comment! Reminds me of a comedy skit where the comedian overhears a woman in a fitting room saying, « This dress makes me look fat! » and the comedian is saying to herself, yeah, as if you wouldn’t look fat without that dress. 🙂
🤣 The truth hurts.
Agree that it is totally stinking hot! And the stupid advisory got extended well into tomorrow evening for me.
Yay for the haircut! I am thinking that I am due sometime soon…
Last again!
I only have one shower gel in my shower because I don’t rotate them. Right now it’s bbw Magnolia Charm. I have a bit of a stash of soaps because The Shutdown made me realize that at any moment I might not be able to go to a store when I want. I have about 12 bars of Irish Spring because it’s cheap. 4 bars of bbw in Rose, Cherry Merlot, At the beach and Sunshine Mimosa. Plus about 4 Yardley soaps, and 2 Olay shower gels that I don’t remember the names of, and Lush Happy Hippy which is actually my daughter’s.
Today I wore 100 Bon Jasmin and Ylang. I enjoyed it.
I was in B&BW today and just noticed they started selling bar soaps, wonder if that is a trend or just catering to green sentiments of not wanting plastic packaging?
I haven’t tried any of them yet. They were in the last sale at my store so I grabbed one of each. I hope they aren’t drying. Once my shower gets fixed for real, I will try one and report back.
Please, report back whenever you try them. I have not gotten any because many reviews say they are drying. I was tempted on the last sale to grab the Cherry Merlot, but I finally didn’t.
I have pandemic products at home too!
Lillyjo, I have kept meaning to mention about a new (to me) flavor of PopTarts I think you need to keep an eye out for! It’s Tropical Mango, and quite possibly the best flavor they have. I’m thinking I might have to get more while the getting is good. 😋
Freshly showered and in Egyptian Goddess for what I hope will be some good sleep. Work tried make a night shift nurse stay over “mandatorily” because a day shift RN called off sick. I was hoping they would TRY and make me stay. What a scuffle that would be! 😜
Ha, glad they knew better than to try it!
My SOTD is Revolution de Fleur from Sana Jardin. I just tested positive for COVID, so I hope my symptoms stay mild.
Ugh, so sorry about your positive COVID status. I also hope your symptoms will be mild or nonexistent.
Oh no! I hope you recover very soon! Sending healing vibes!
Sorry to hear this, sistine! It sure seems to be making the rounds now! I hope you are feeling OK and that it passes quickly.
Hang in there!Sending fragrant hugs!🤗🌹
Such a huge bummer! Sorry to hear that you caught COVID too. Hugs!
Fingers crossed for a very mild case!
Sending hugs and hopes for a mild case and quick recovery!
SotD Sonia Rykiel Woman. Another forgotten gem I found whilst reorganizing and decanting some perfumes. Violets for this violet-loving gal? Check! Amber for this amber-loving gal? Check! Leather, jasmine, other sweet-leaning floral notes? Yep! But all the while the whole thing surprises me with pepper notes! It’s reminding me a lot of Insolence; that is a dry, subtle, version of Insolence.
Ooh, that sounds like a good one!
Sotd..chanel biarritz? Barista? Lol too lazy to look up the name. It was refreshing and light. I like it..drained my sample..as far as what’s in my showr..an old toothbrush and basic soap. Lol. I like Sexy Peel soap from Lush but it’s pricey. Every once and a while I will indulge with a small bottle of Rose Jam and it goes quick lol. I have various scented lotions in my bathroom though..lavender, rose..coconut. what smells great is the banana shampoo by bath n body works but my hair hates it..turns it into a stringy mess. Lol..but if it didn’t..I would probably use that lol
*The Body Shop Banana not BBW..I really dislike BBW for the most part. They have gotten so pricey too.
I would buy Chanel Barista!
I would love to have a fantastic banana shampoo, too about about the TBS one.
Weird, I tried to comment 30 minutes ago and thought it went through. Oh well, trying again.
Wearing Pleasures today so a smelling like my late middle school and then high school years. What a blast from the past. It’s my first time wearing it in many, many years.
Has anyone tried Saltair brand body washes? They’ve been all over Instagram since they launched some months ago, and I’ve been curious about them.
Fun to wear your middle school scent!
I love shower gels and soaps, I have several in rotation. Chanel Coco Noir shower gel, Lush rose jam, Byredo Gyspy water, Miss Dior silky shower gel, a rose body oil (olio da bagno ) from SMN and Tauer Majestic Tuberose soap.
I witnessed the most scary thing yesterday, I was at the cottage having fun during the day all of a sudden everything changed, it was like a scene from a scary movie , we saw up close the forming of the tornado clouds and it was coming toward us. Luckily we were lucky and ok with minor damages but it will take me some time to get over the experience.
OMG! I can’t imagine how terrifying that must have been. I am so glad you are all fine and you did not experience major damages.
That is scary how quickly things can go very bad, with no warning! Glad you are OK.
Glad you are OK after that ordeal!
Sending hugs!
Funnel clouds and would-be tornadoes are never a fun thing to see. Glad to hear that you are all right.
Lillyjo, you may have been last yesterday, but some of us are showing up even later for the poll, LOL!
Currently in my shower: my 2 summer shampoos. Both are from Bumble & Bumble. One is the Surf Wash, and the other is their Thickening shampoo. Only 1 shower gel, Korres Guava. On deck for shower gel is Philosophy Ginger tea. I have very little in the way of shelves or storage in there, so things are minimalist by necessity. And my summer facial cleanser from Boscia, the Clarifying Charcoal cleanser. I will not replace that one when it is gone, since I have noticed that my skin is slowly changing after “the pause”.
SOTD = back in Timbuktu, since it plays very nicely with heat waves! 🥵🔥🔥
We have a ledge in our shower — it is not meant to hold products, but happily, I can balance an amazing number of bottles & tubes up there, much to my husband’s dismay. I’m sure he would much prefer I had room for 1 bottle!
I am enjoying some vintage “French-milled” soaps from Bullocks Wilshire (a fancy (now defunct, sadly) department store in Los Angeles. They are creamy and lovely. I have 3 boxes with names like Blue Jasmine, White Gardenia and Honey and Almond.
I remember Bullocks!
Sotd is La Coeur du Désert because it’s beautiful and nothing else will stay on me in this heat!
You smell great allo!
“Le” Coeur – pardonez-moi. I could get the guiottine for less!
Pardonnez-moi – I should have stopped while I was ahead 🙂
In my shower right now: some leftover hotel toiletries in Le Labo Bergamote 22, which I’m loving! In the clawfooted tub: Crabtree and Evelyn soaps, Lily of the Valley and Rose, plus Dove soap in Lavender, and unscented bath oil. Nearby: Rochas Lumiere bath oil, to add a scent I’ve chosen. Sometimes I use a dropper of the SJP Stash oil, per a suggestion from Portia! It makes the whole bathroom smell wonderful.
Jealous of your B22 toiletries AND your claw foot tub!
My shower has gotten very boring the last few years as I’ve focused more on buying perfume.
Arm & Hammer unscented shower gel (decanted into a pink pump bottle).
dpHue brunette shampoo and conditioner. I stopped coloring my hair last year, so I don’t need these anymore. I don’t like them, but I’ll use them up.
Christophe Robin Lemon Cleansing hair mask. This stuff is GENIUS. Whack it onto wet hair, let it sit like a conditioner, then emulsify it (it’s a very low lather) and rinse. Soft, clean, conditioned hair. Terribly expensive.
Soap is unknown. I buy odds and ends by the pound from an Etsy seller. You get a grab bag of cuts and ends from her soapmaking… a win-win!
Shower gels:
-Lush Sticky Dates (soooooo good!)
-Lush Mimosa
-Lush Posh Chocolate (looking forward to trying these last two combined, per Robin’s recommendation)
-Baylis & Harding Oud, Cedar & Amber (so good that I have it in the bath milk, hand soap, and body lotion too)
Bar soaps:
-Lush New Rose
-On deck: A grab bag of floral scents from Caswell Massey
Bath Bombs:
-Chanel Chance Eau Tendre
-Dr. Teal’s Lavendar
-Grab bag of floral and gourmet scents from Lush
-Homemade “deconstructed” bath bomb of magnesium salt, powdered goats’ milk, and a mix of rose, grapefruit, and rosemary essential oils
And I have to get to Lush before they run out of Sticky Dates!
As of this weekend they still had it on the website
