It's Tuesday, plus World Baking Day and the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. Happy 80th birthday to Taj Mahal! (That's the blues musician, not the mausoleum.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in a dab of vintage Diorissimo for a beautiful spring morning. Tea at the moment is Season's Pick Jin Jun Mei from Upton.
Reminder: on 5/20, for World Bee Day, wear a fragrance with a honey note or wear a fragrance inspired by wildflowers, or celebrate World Bee Day in some other way. (We did a honey project in 2017.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Honeycomb Tea Pot ("Our regal porcelain tea pot features highly detailed bee and wildflower decals set amongst a honeycomb pattern of real gold. Pair it with other pieces in the collection to create an apian-themed table everyone will be buzzing about") is $80 at Williams Sonoma (and the set shown above right is $300).
Good morning!
Sotd is LV Etoile Filante. Pale gold osmanthus tea.
I baked a loaf of coconut pound cake yesterday. If I’d known, I would’ve saved it for baking day. Maybe points for enjoying baked goods? 😛
Currently drinking osmanthus oolong to match.
That sounds lovely … the perfume and the coconut pound cake and the tea, all of it!!
I looove coconut pound cake!
This morning while in the elevator a woman smelled heavenly. I told her how delightful she smelled and she said, I am wearing Shalimar. I wouldn’t never guessed. She smells about 100 times better than it smells on me. She then went on to tell me that her mother wore Shalimar and she wears it because it reminds her of her mom. The way she said it was so tender, when I got home I teared up. Funny how grief just comes up!
Hoping to attract bees in Shalimar today.
Tea is cappuccino
I love the tea pot today. I didn’t know W&S had a whole bee theme!
https://www.williams-sonoma.com/search/results.html?words=honeycomb%20collection
Yes, there is even dinnerware…I had never seen it either.
I bet it smells amazing on you too, ltsg! Others noses probably smell what you smelled on the woman today.
Agree with you on grief, certain moments in life just get you.
Thank you!
Hoping if there are any bees in NYC (of course there are) they will love the Shalimar 🙂
I agree on thinking you must smell beautiful!
Reading your story makes me want to wear Shalimar. Maybe a tiny spritz on my wrist 😉
Go for it!
I couldn’t decide what to wear today, but after reading this, it’s definitely going to be Shalimar! ❤️
I’m in Art meets Art’s Like a Virgin LE. Lovely orange blossom.
The weather has turned just lovely here. Blue skies, low humidity and seasonal temps after last week’s heatwave.
If any of you read over the weekend, I did end up getting a refund from u-haul, so renting the van to move my daughter’s stuff ended up costing us $3 in gas.😬 I felt kind of guilty, but then my son reminded me that I shouldn’t because they are the ones that made the mistake.
Took a half day off of work today, so I’m enjoying a leisurely morning at home.🫖
Gorgeous here too!
So glad you got a refund, and your son is right, you had it coming to you.
It’s dismal out, hammering down rain, and I *will* get wet going to work, but whatever: right now I’m happy in the electrified greenery of Mugler Aura EDT.
Sometimes I feel like all these International Days Against Whatever (and there are a bunch of them) should really just be called International Day For Maybe Being Thoughtful And Decent To One Another For A Change And Seeing How That Works Out. We really could use a lot more of that.
Ugh, sorry about your weather!
And agree…
It is like taking required Anti-Harrassment classes so we now know how to do it.
Totally agree with your second paragraph!
I agree too.
I love Aura edt (it was my first Aura love) and I think we should be decent to each other, too!
I’m sampling today: Masque Milano L’Attesa at the moment. Such a rich iris, but Iris Poudre and VC&A remain “my” irises.
I love to bake but had no plans for today. I did make a chai cake on Sunday and felt a bit like a British Bake-off contestant when my frosting curdled (new recipe) and I had to toss it and start over. And last week I made one of my favorite NYT cookies: Peanut Butter Miso Cookies. So delicious!
Did you say chai cake!!!
Yep! I used an NYT recipe for Earl Grey cake (also wonderful) and made it with chai instead. Yum!
*drool* I am going to check out the cookie recipe right now!
Definitely. If you do decide to make it, I followed several reviewers suggested and switched amounts of peanut butter and miso so there is a little more peanut butter than miso.
Wow, both of your baked items sound fantastic!
Hmmm. Now that I’ve mentioned these, I may have to go get one of my peanut butter cookies out of the freezer. To go with my tea later on. 😀
I have discovered, via general impatience, that I like still-frozen cake, ha!
😉
Twins! (This rarely happens) Am at work today, and it if does fade away it turns out there’s part of a decant of Prada Iris Absolue, a pretty good backup.
Yay twins!
those cookies sounds delicious. i love cooking with miso
They’re great. If anyone wants the recipe, they can ping me via my screen name above.
I had to have an early dinner after reading your post! 😋 No chai cake included, alas. But at least now my stomach isn’t growling like an angry bear.
😀
Another spectacular day here, weather-wise. I have a bit of Fox in the Flowerbed oil on to drink my morning coffee, Wordle and come see you guys. Before I go out, I’m going to apply a sizeable spray of Salvador Dali, the cool breeze should keep it from being overpowering.
Wordle is usually my first stop after I get my tea!
Spectacular here too. What spring should be.
I’m in Bois d’Armenie courtesy of a very generous NSTer. It’s kind of a sleeper scent — just when I think it has disappeared, I find it again. It’s beautiful and very understated (been searching my brain for that word all morning) and requires spraying; dabbing doesn’t do it justice.
Guerlain house twins
👋🏻 😍
Bois d’Armenie is amazing.
It really is lovely. I’ve been enjoying the entire spectrum of incense scents lately.
Yes to incense!
I initially thought I had allergies on Thursday but actually it is a mild head cold. It’s starting to break up and the post nasal drip is killing me. Currently in Jicky today.
Well darn. Hope you are better soon Dawn!
Yuck. Post nasal drip sucks, big time.
Finishing up my now luke warm coffee, then will get to business. The BEST thing happened this morning- I woke to blinding sunshine!!🌞 I’m hoping it holds out so I can get my roof done today. I hauled myself up the ladder yesterday to take a lookylou and think I know where the leak is coming from. Unfortunately, it’s in a spot that’s difficult to hit with the lap sealant. The butyl tape is still attached like super glue in 99% of the perimeter, and there no way I can remove it without damaging the fiberglass, so I will have to clean everything up and hope the lap sealant does the trick. Also hope I don’t fall off the ladder 😬
In perfume news, I felt like I just didn’t have any perfume to wear today. I looked at all my full bottles and just couldn’t choose. I feel like Ayn Rand’s sister, who visited from Russia and was so overwhelmed by supermarket choices she started to panic and couldn’t wait to get back to what was then the USSR, where she had no choices at all. Anyway, ended up surfing the sample sea and chose a bit of AdV Oeillet Bengale. I used just a tiny bit, but it’s projecting well and I like it quite a bit. I must have tried it before, but have no recollection of it.
Speaking of recollection, I was at this park in 2019 and I don’t remember it at all. Doubted myself and had to flip through old photos and sure enough, I have been here before. Then, I was trying to yell (okay “reprimand”
is probably a better word) at the dog for eating something off the ground and I couldn’t remember her name…😳 I called her “Taiga..er, Flair..er, Deva..er, Salsa..” and then ran out of dog names! It took me a minute to remember “Tess,” by which time she has moved on to some other tasty morsel the previous camper left behind. Really, I think I’m beginning the cognitive decline I’ve been dreading since I was 10.
Hoping everyone else’s cognition is much better than mine! ✌🏼
Good luck Deva, hope you safely fixed the leak by now!
When I have word recall issues it is nearly always nutritional and/or sleep…so hope that gets better too.
Yeah, my “nutrition” has flown out the window, but sleep is great! I’ve fluffed up since starting this mobile lifestyle and it’s the one thing I’m not happy about. Well, of course, there’s the price of gas, but we won’t go there…🙄
I hope you were able to get it fixed! We had a nice morning here, but it’s been alternating sun and showers since.
Well, done with the roof but will have to wait for the next rain to see if it’s “fixed.” I’m sure I won’t have long to wait, but so far it’s been beautiful here today, and long overdue. Hope you’re able to make the most of the intermittent sunshine today!
SOTD is Violet Blueberry by Solstice Scents. I bought a mini rollerball and it’s quite charming.
I’m currently baking a Caribbean Rum Bundt cake. I’m haveI got a coup,e of friends over for tea tomorrow and it’s better the next day. Today is bright and sunny but mild, perfect baking weather. I don’t bake much in the summer, we don’t have air conditioning. So strike while the weather cooperates!
Having a couple of friends! I have NOT been nipping the rum!
LOL!
🤣🤣🤣!
Wow, lucky friends! All this baking here today is making me hungry.
SOTD is Dame Tuberose Soliflore.
Just got back from the bookstore and of course had to buy four new books that came out today. My three obsessions are coffee, books and perfume and I am into all of them today.
Oh yay! Care to share which books?
Sure.
The Island by Adrian McKinty
Take Your Breath Away by Linwood Barkley
The Summer Darlings by May Cobb
Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance by Allison Espach
All fiction and I believe all suspense/thrillers.
Thanks, more books to investigate!
I am wearing Fracas, finally we took off the masks and it is lovely to see people’s smiles.
I will be going to a book launch this evening ( a special one) where my daughter’s poem has been published and she will be reading it in front of the public.
That is so wonderful and like you say a really special occasion. You must be so proud. And I hope your daughter enjoys the night and reading in public. What an achievement!
Congratulations to your daughter!
Oh, major congrats to Hera Junior!!
How exciting!
How great for your daughter!
Congratulations to your daughter! Nice to see you, Hera!
What a lovely tea set. Not that I need another one. I am super CP-compliant in Slowdive.
I’ve been in quite a funk since we decided to buy the new house. It’s beautiful and I’m very excited, but it means saying goodbye to my current house, which I also love. I get so dang attached to things, and this little house was my haven during the pandemic, the space in which I spent almost literally 24/7 for many, many months. And how will I say goodbye to my outdoor plants and trees?
In any case, I’ve started thinking about decorating the new house, and the living room could do with a wow factor, to wit: https://www.instagram.com/p/CI9_Se3ny0S/ Now, I haven’t been able to locate this wallpaper on their website, and anyway it’s not so much wallpaper as it is hand painted silk, and I can’t even begin to imagine how much that would cost. Does anyone have tips on where I might find a more accessible version of this? I love that the design is only on the top (the room I want it for has wainscoting, just like in the picture), and I love that it isn’t a highly repeated design. I guess what I want is a dreamy, cascading floral painting on top of a gold backdrop 🙂 Any ideas appreciated.
Beautiful and restful but I’m in the UK so of little use to locate something similar.
That’s beautiful, but I have no tips. I’m a fine of warm white painted walls. Very Scandinavian.
Just wanted to say congrats on the new house – it will be so fun to make it your space and add new plants and trees!
*I’m a fan.
White wall fan twin! I am a bit cluttery with keepsakes, and our house is shady and faces North, so white walls work to add brightness and calm. Plus, at certain times of the year, they reflect the green of our trees and the red of a Japanese Maple in the neighbors’ yard.
Thank you, sp; it will indeed be fun 🙂 I just need to not miss my current home too much. Especially since I won’t even leave it for a few months.
https://cole-and-son.com/products/wisteria
https://www.farrow-ball.com/wallpaper/wisteria
These might be more affordable though not the same as the design you like. I think they can be found in USA. EBay might have cheap rolls of vintage wallpaper if you decide on a feature wall. The other thing would be to commission a local artist to paint your wall.
Good luck on the house.
Thanks for the links! They’re not the right spirit, unfortunately. But yes, I did start looking into local artists to commission; it would be fantastic, but also very expensive ($10k at LEAST, for a single half wall!), so I’ll have to think a bit harder about it.
That’s beautiful! I love wisteria.
I totally understand your funk, I’m sentimental as well. Give your current house a thorough cleaning, thanking it for giving you refuge and comfort as you touch each surface.
Thank you, cazaubon, both for the advice and for taking my feelings seriously!
Koyel, I am the same way. I loved our rental and thought I would miss it, but all these years later, most of my regrets are about specific plants & shrubs that I wish I’d replaced as soon as we moved in our new place. And I still don’t understand why I didn’t immediately plant the things that would need years to get going…wisteria, for instance, and a few more flowering trees.
No advice on the wallpaper! Hire someone to paint that on your wall as a mural, wouldn’t that be cool?
But WOW am I sorry I looked at their wallpaper patterns…gorgeous, what a rabbit hole.
I will have to remember this once we move! I did a great job of front-loading my planting when I moved into our current house; I’ll need to repeat that in the next one.
Aren’t their wallpapers fabulous? I hate not being able to see prices more easily, though :- / It would be incredibly cool to hire someone to paint it as a mural (I spent a decent chunk of time yesterday looking through yelp for “wall mural painters near me”), and from what I can tell, it’ll be very pricy, so…at the very least, it’ll be a serious discussion with the husband 🙂
Googled wisteria wallpaper for walls. Looks like Etsy has several peel and stick wallpaper murals similar to what you want. Seemed affordable. There were some nice options at Home Depot, too.
I saw some great looking options on Etsy! But I’ve never used good that ends up looking. Have you ever tried it? I’m generally a little wary of Etsy these days (gotten burned too many times), but they have such pretty things….
Unfortunately, no experience. I am not a good do-it-yourselfer.
Neither am I 🙂
No help for wallpaper, sorry! I’m a fan of bright colors for paint but also have plenty of neutral paint on the walls of my place.
I get it about missing houses. I teared up when I saw the house I lived in during my junior high and high school years. It was during my high school reunion; I hadn’t seen it in 20 years.
Aww, I am glad you got to see it again though!
Two options I can think of:
1. Paint your walls with metallic or pearlescent paint (Home Depot and Lowes both have faux finishes options) and then hire someone to do a mural.
2. Etsy has a few pretty options for “wisteria wallpaper” if you use that specific search term. There are others if you just want floral. Downside is you will probably need to dry brush gold paint for the background effect you want on the wallpaper or detail paint with gold for a gilt effect.
Thanks for the thoughts! If I replace all your recommendations for me to do something with paying someone else to do it for me, they sound feasible! (I am terrible at doing these sorts of things myself.)
Found another company that makes gorgeous wallpaper options for you… Rebel Walls based in Sweden.
https://rebelwalls.com/wall-murals/categories/floral-wallpaper
Thank you, Kinuknits! They are lovely!! I’ll have to go down the rabbit hole that is their site.
Belated congratulations on the new house!
I was feeling very much the same as you when I moved last month. We had so many memories in our old place, it was the only place my son had lived, etc. I was feeling very sentimental the last few days there. Do give yourself some time to say goodbye to the house, to be alone in the space, and to really feel it.
Aww, thank you for sharing that, tulipani. I’ll make sure to do that. And thanks <3
I completely understand being sad leaving your current home.
I get very attached to things too…apartments I lived in, cars I had, etc. I think about all I did in those years I lived there or drove the car, etc. and there is some true sadness to leave things behind. But it is also wonderful to embrace new things, cars and homes too! 🙂 I felt so grateful to my old Toyota Camry when I traded it many moons ago…that car saw me go from dumb young adult to somewhat-less-foolish regular adult. 😉
Thanks for saying this, She-ra! This is exactly how I feel. (I even attach these feelings to my Kindle and, to a lesser extent, my computer and phone.) And what a nice story about your Camry 🙂
Very pretty design! It has a Japanese vibe to my untrained eye. Perhaps post it on Reddit to see if you get any tips there?
Good idea; I’ll see what they say 🙂 I think it’s more chinoiserie…so, what Europeans think of Chinese designs, as interpreted by a Hong Kong company. So many turns, right? Ah, globalism.
scent of the morning was No5 L ´Eau from the work decant stash after biking. Now wearing C&A First EdT after showering back at home.
I got my new glasses today, a big black frame in a panto form and now i am channeling my inner Iris Apfel. But if you go grey, you need some contrast in your face🤓🤓
I did the contrast thing too, got deep pink glasses, they look nice with my grey hair. 🙂
Dark pink sounds also very nice for glasses
Hello there, scent twin!
You smell great! One of my favorites.
Gorgeous spring weather and I don’t feel guilty to enjoy it as it rained all day Sunday so nature is happy.
Lush Orange Blossom today which snelled delightful but tonight I switched to Burberry Black parfum, a sugary bomb I’m fond of for some reason ever since I smelled it in a duty-free shop but it must be my least elegant perfume.
*smelled
I think you smell great Aurora!
Thank you Lillyjo, I know it’s very sweet but I love its scrumptious fruitiness, and it’s parfum right so it adds a touch of luxury and lasts forever.
Hermes Eau d’Hermes dabbed on from sample vial to start me off. Have a workout class this afternoon, so whatever I wear needs to be very chill by that time. Probably Tam Dao.
Getting closer to that time of the year where I swap out the fall/winter for spring summer scents. Always fun to bring out old friends 🙂
Tam Dao is an excellent choice.
I’ve been itching to go on a road trip around the island while it is still quiet ( our borders fully open up in July) but petrol is now $13.80 a gallon ($3.75 litre) so I am thinking of a Plan B. Meanwhile I am enjoying Gaynor’s gift of a sample box and am wearing Les Indemodables Vanille Havane which has a lovely dry down. So much choice! We’re meant to get snow tomorrow but I doubt it.
13.80!!!!
Yes. The petrol equivalent of niche perfume!
😍
Petrol has become quite expensive in Luxembourg as well. Fortunately public transport is free (!) in this tiny country. I hope you can make your trip anyway.
I love Vanille Havane and might actually want to buy a bottle. Have you got samples of all the Indémodables? My favourite is Cuir de Chine.
Vanille Havana is the only one but I like it a lot. I also like Eris Mxxx and Fort and Manle Fatih Sultan Mehmed so far. I think perfume samples might be the devil’s work.
I sympathize with you, we are at $2.25 a litre here in Canada, about $10 a gallon. We had planned a cross-country road trip but it will cost $3,000 just in gas, so we are considering other options.
At least cross country for me is only a five hour trip ( east to west) . I feel your pain. I think I might just rent a small beach house closer to home and potter about
https://www.catlins.org.nz/
Yeah, it’s a 5,000 km drive across Canada, one way. Ouch. Your beach house sounds great!
Snow!!
Snow!!! It’s not cold enough so I don’t think it will get low enough for us.
Wow! I know gas is high here too, and it’s very hard to get an electric car right now.
SUVs like Ford Rangers seem so popular here and they must cost a fortune. I pay $120 just to fill my Toyota Corolla hatch
Yeeeek! $13.80 for gas? I said a few not safe for NST words when I read that price tag.
I am very project compliant in DSH Angel’s Wing which has honey AND beeswax listed as notes
I say double points then!
For the CP wearing SL Fils de Joie. The long-dry down is so rich and honied I just swoon. I think honey is one of my favorite notes, and I did not know that until I started thinking about what to wear Friday. I turns out I have several options. Question: can/has anyone compared Fils de Joie with Miel de Bois?
They are quite different to me. Miel de Bois smells urinous on me, Fils de Joie is honeyed jasmine.
Thank you, cazaubon! I asked because a certain number of people added it in the Reminds Me Of option on Fragrantica’s review of FdJ. I’ve read so much about MdB over the years, and wondered if I’d be one who liked it. I am very happy to keep on smelling like honeyed jasmine, and yet keep my SL Fangirl credentials 😀 .
I’ve been wearing Memo Sicilian Leather today.
And you’ve been smelling divine. 😍
Thank you! Its a great leather for warm weather.
Feeling very upbeat today as my cat Mori is back from the vet where she had a really bad tooth infection treated. We didn’t know what was wrong in the beginning as it was the eye swelling up a bit and they were treating her as conjunctivitis. Then it became obvious it was coming from the cheek/ mouth and the oral antibiotics were not helping, so she went for urgent surgery to drain the abscess and remove the affected teeth. Apparently resorption of the teeth is really common in cats, and she had had the problem for a while, but we never knew anything. Cats are such tough little things, she must have been in a lot of pain. Finally looking like herself after a week of trips to the vet!
Also, I got an exciting sample in the mail today : Papillon Hera -also in beautiful packaging. Definitely ++vintage feel, the oakmoss and the orris are the stand out notes for me. My perfume archive is not that big, but I think this could smell like a vintage Caron or Dior- also reminds me of the later stages of Liu Guerlain. It’s not very sweet, as imagined it may be; it is more chypre-like (I guess, because of oakmoss).
Yay for your kitty! Animals are so stoic about pain.
And thanks for the report on Hera, I’m really looking forward to it.
Thanks cazaubon! Hera is really nice, I keep sniffing myself. It’s very much in line with her other perfumes.
Aw, glad that your kitty is looking and feeling more like herself today!
Thanks Jalapeno!
Poor kitty, glad Mori is feeling better now!
Thanks Koyel!
So glad your kitty is back to herself! And good thing for me to note and keep an eye out for — I had no idea about the resorption of teeth.
Thanks ockeghem, I had no idea either! Apparently >1/3 of cats develop it, and the reasons are not very clear. I have been looking into cat tooth brushes which apparent are a thing! 🙂
Glad that your kitty is feeling better! And your sample sounds divine!
Thank you Gail! It is really nice!
Wearing Eclair de tubéreuse which is nice, although it does not happen to be my favourite tuberose and nor my most successful blind buy, but I do enjoy it and I love tuberose when it’s warm.
Tea is a cold osmanthus oolong, wishing it would rain.
We are having your rain right now. 🙂
Wearing Nez Ambre à Lèvres as I clean the house in preparation for the sale.
Nice choice on fragrance – I think I’ll wear that tomorrow. Are you selling another house? Didn’t you just move?
Yes, we moved in last July but I am very unhappy with my choice, so we are moving again, alas.
Oh gosh. Best of luck. I hope you’ll find a place you love.
Have you a buyer already? Or are you getting ready to list and show it? I really hope you find a wonderful cozy home after going through all this! 🤞🏼
It goes on the market Friday. Thanks for your positive thoughts!
Good luck with the home sale!! I hope it all goes smoothly.
So sorry about all the trouble that you’ve gone through to try to make this place work, but here’s hoping you’ll be able to find a better fit. I think this is probably a good time to be buying, or at least a better time than the last six months.
Actually, the market is dropping like a rock and I will probably lose at least $40,000. I bought at the top. I’m thinking about just keeping it, I am so pissed off.
Good luck with the sale! Where will you be staying in the meantime?
In the house.
Lots of luck then and I hope the timing works out.
It doesn’t look too promising, but hoping for a miracle.
That tea set is beautiful. Speaking of made a pitcher of Honeydew melon iced tea to enjoy this week. I think it was last summer’s limited edition… boo.
SotD is Prada Luna Rossa layered with JM Wood sage and sea salt. I quite like the combo – fresh and lightly aquatic, so it may be on repeat this summer. It stays very close to the skin and I only have it on my wrists.
We’re layering twins with totally different perfumes!
Hi twin, you smell lovely. 🙂 I find it fun to see what combos play well together. I have a couple layered favorites, but complete scrubs are more common, lol. I think pairs (one on each arm) is an easier way to enjoy two perfumes at once…
Productive day today! I got inspired by Lovestosmellgood yesterday when she called her dentist. I figured I could buck up and take care of some things I had been putting off.
I made a couple of calls myself, and found someone to come and get the birds out of my dryer vent this afternoon. Very pleased about that, since I figured someone wouldn’t be available until tomorrow. Two very nice guys came by and removed a bird’s nest, some baby birds, and a lint ball the size of a softball. The baby birds were taken to a wildlife rehab facility. A bird exclusion device is now back on my dryer vent. I suspect that my next load of laundry will take far less time to dry.
I did a little more painting this afternoon after the dryer vent had been taken care of. I did find a few more paints that were kaput, sadly. Considering that most of them are at least 10 years old, it isn’t unexpected.
SOTD = back in Chanel No. 5 L’Eau EdT. A “Get R Done” perfume for a “Get R Done” day.
You are inspiring me to take care of some phone calls that I’ve been putting off. I just hate making appointments, but I don’t know why.
Nice rescue on the birds (and your laundry).
Very cool on the painting – my dad used to paint and I have a very few watercolors/sketches from him that I treasure.
Watercolors are a difficult medium to work with, IMO. So respect!
Acrylic paints are much more forgiving. So are oils, but it’s a complete PITA to clean brushes afterwards.
You got a lot done and smelled good doing it!
Thanks Kris! Hopefully I will be rewarded with a good night’s sleep. 😉😴
Sleep well Jalapeno.
Yay on the dryer vent/bird’s nest! It must feel so good to have that done and dusted.
Thank you tulipani! It feels like a big weight is gone, and I can get back to laundry.
Sounds like you had a very productive day; it feels good even just to call to make an appointment, that’s half the battle. And congratulations on starting to paint again!
No. 5 l’eau is the only version that I “get”. You smell great!
Thanks Gail! I can appreciate Eau Premiere, but No. 5 L’Eau is the one I fell for, and now have a bottle of.
I love l’Eau also.
Woohoo! And a bird’s nest and baby birds extracted from your dryer vent – even more woohoo!
SOTD = Bvlgari Black and Sonoma Scent Studio Bee’s Bliss
A perfect accidental layering! CP credit for sure!

So I got locked out of my desktop today. My only choice was to call the help desk. 95% of the instructions without regard to the caller’s issue talked about going online and using shortcuts that only work … you guessed it … when you’re online! Anyway, after being on a hold queue for 20 minutes, an agent came online and said I can unlock it self-service by going … take a guess … online! What-The-F? He did walk me through using my mobile to reset my password which worked. Oy. Of course we’re now moving to a new password protocol using a pass phrase instead and supposedly we only have to change it once a year. Wish me luck!
Ugh. That’s the sort of thing that happens where I work, all the time. We have a particularly problematic VPN that doesn’t like to stay connected, and when it doesn’t connect you can’t do anything on the machine. When it’s not connecting…guess how you’re supposed to report it. 🙂
Technology is wonderful when it works and the biggest PITA when it doesn’t.
And of course phone trees/menus are made for when technology works…
Last night I was browsing the Bvlgari section of fragrance net and thought to myself ” it’s been a long time since hajusuuri has worn Black” and look what you wore today! It’s synchronicity!
It sounds so good, I may wear Bvlgari Black tomorrow!
I saw this great offer on IG from Parfums Dusita and thought I would share:
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdqj6WGI2af/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I am not affiliated in case anyone is wondering!
Hey hajusuuri, are you planning to pick up a bottle of Hera by Papillon? I was hoping to myself but then saw the price and the fact that it’s an extrait. So, if it would help you decide, I’d be willing to split a portion. I’m sure others might be interested, too. Just a thought..in case, you know, you’re on the fence..!😁
PBI, count me in!
I will pre-order!
Wonderful! 🙏🏻
Oh wow I’d be interested, too!
Not on the fence … will pre-order!
SOTD is Le Temps d’une Fête. Somewhat CP-compliant? Though I don’t tend to see the bees around my star jasmine as much as some of my other flowers.
No baking for me today, although allegedly there will be cake as it’s my birthday (hence the perfume choice). I just got an “Edible Arrangement” with no sender name on it, though I’m guessing it’s from work. Anyway, I took the day off to get a massage and pedi, and took a walk on the beach, so it’s been good.
Happy Birthday! I hope you get some cake! Sounds like you had a lovely day.
Happy Scented Birthday! 🎂🥂🌈🎁
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, ockeghem! 🎉🎂🎁
Happy Birthday! 🎂
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday! Hope it was a great day.
Happy birthday!! 😊🎂
A day late, but hope it was a wonderful birthday!!
I wore numerous sprays of Jolie Madam today. I kept spraying because it smelled so good coming out of the bottle.
We had a few hours of sun yesterday so I got most if the seeds planted. Today a few flower pots got cleaned out, new soil put in and those seeds planted. My geraniums didn’t survive overwintering in the garage thus past year so I need to find something new.
Yay for sun, but boo for the geraniums not making it. Phooey!
I gave my daughter a home covid test today. It was negative. Yay!
I wore Violet Blonde for work tonight. I am now wearing Prada Candy Kiss.
You smell great. 🙂
Woo hoo!
Commenting late as usual! Gorgeous tea set.
I have a mortifying Taj Mahal story. I saw him with Mavis Staples here in the DC area and my husband had worked with him before sound engineering, so we had after show passes.
I was so utterly gob-smacked in meeting TAJ MAHAL, someone who, along with Mavis, has been a long time favorite.
He’s like 12 feet tall. And I’m pretty shy.
When my husband introduces me, I said “It’s very good to meet you, Mr… um… Mr. … Ma—” trails off… “Maha…” trails off… 🙄
I’m in Chanel 1932 this evening. Nite all!
LOL — that is excellent! I have always heard he is really nice, so hopefully he just smiled 🙂
