It's Monday and the World Heritage Day / International Day for Monuments and Sites. What fragrance are you wearing?
I’m facing a chilly spring morning in Hermès Cuir d’Ange.
Reminder: on 4/22, wear a fragrance with a narcissus note, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy Monday, I woke to a fresh layer of snow on the ground.
We had a very relaxed Easter and strayed from (our) traditional dinner and had baked ziti and Caesar salad instead. It was delicious.
I’m in Tam Dao, my keep calm scent. Currently sitting in the waiting room while my son is in the OR having his labrum repaired.? We had to be up and here at the crack of dawn. I brought my iPad along and will watch a few episodes of After Life to pass the time.
Hope everything goes well for your son’s surgery! We woke up to the same layer of snow, the robins look ticked off lol.
Lol, I bet they were! Thanks!
Very best wishes to you & your son! Snow showers here in northern IL too, ugh. Some musical appreciation for your home state:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxGi-1YtJmI
Aww, I love that! They even got Butch Vig, how cool. Thank you!
Snow here too. Good luck today!
Thanks lillyjo! Snowing here again now, ugh.
Sending good vibes!!??
Thanks J B!
Good luck to your son and wishing him a speedy recovery!
Thanks pl67!
Hope After Life is keeping you distracted and entertained, and hope it all goes perfectly!
Thanks Robin!
Hope everything goes smoothly!
Thanks Koyel!
Wishing your son a smooth surgery and recovery!
After Life is great, although a bit hard to watch at times.
Thanks!
I agree, there are parts that made me laugh out loud and other parts that broke my heart.
I hope all is going well with the surgery!
Thanks! All went well, home and resting now.☺️
Best of luck for the surgery!
Thanks cazaubon!
Late to the party but glad to know the surgery is done and everyone’s back home! You smelled wonderful through it all, even.
Thanks!
Glad to hear that your son’s surgery went well! Fingers crossed for a smooth and easy time healing up. ?
Thanks Jalapeño!?
Late in responding to you, but glad it all went well!
Thanks Kris!
Hope your son comes through okay, MadTown.
I (think) I will be in Feve Delicieuse later on today. I wore it once last week and it reminds me of those old fashioned fragrances that I used to pour over as a kid in our local Reed’s department store while my mom shopped for her Clinique. I’d get all manner of side-eye from the SA’s – I guess they didn’t like little ones hanging out at the grown up cosmetics counter. I ignored them anyway. 🙂
SA side eye…everyone’s favorite 😉
The narcissus are covered with snow so I’m back to winter in Imperial Opoponax to stay warm and cozy. The temperature this coming weekend is supposed to be 80F, I wish we could just have normal spring weather.
I’m with you on the variable weather! The swings are crazy.
You smell great, I wore it last week.
Also on the Weather Roller Coaster! Some crazy records are being set here.
I’m wearing Selva do Brazil from my Berdoues discovery set. This is a good one.
It’s definitely a good one!
I don’t know if I own anything with narcissus, but I’m wearing Givenchy Pi, which strikes me as something that would appeal to a narcissist. It takes up a fair bit of room — it announces itself. Nice, though: warm and comforting, lotsa wood, lotsa vanilla.
Ha, close enough!
Clever!
SOTD is Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere.
I need to give someone an enabler pin. I wish I remembered the person it was that recommended Chanel Paris-Deauville. It will be a wonderful edition to my other summer fragrances. What is funny is that probably 15 years ago I did not have any interest in any Chanel perfumes and now I think I have eight different Chanel bottles. How times have changed.
Have a good week everyone!
I snubbed No.5 for years and years, then finally gave it a proper sniff and fell in love with ALL the iterations so far!
Might have been me who recommended Paris-Deauville, seconded (and thirded, iirc) by others here. ?
The pin is yours and I do think it was you so thank you ?
Thank you! I’m so glad you like it!
I was slow to find any Chanel loves, too. I respect more than love Chanel No. 5, but Coco, Allure and No. 19 all get spritzed regularly. I think I might need Le Lion one of these days, too.
I followed a similar path to MossyBerry’s. I am a slow adopter to Chanel perfumes, but now have several that I would love to have a bottle of. We shall see if I get around to adding any of them to the Perfume Wardrobe…
I agree with you and MossyBerry. I was very slow to adopt to Chanel perfumes. Now I have three different iterations of Chanel no 5 along with 31 RC, Coromandel, Coco Noir, Gabrielle Essence and now the Paris-Deauville. I think that’s enough for a while.
Good morning.
Sotd is MFK A La Rose.
Feels a little too “fresh” since today is a little cooler. Might layer something else later.
Currently drinking rose tea to match.
Cooler here too, and was thinking of adding some Myrrh Eglantine soon…
Happy Easter Monday!
I really needed this long weekend,so glad it was a quiet, relaxed one.
SOTD!
Byredo Gypsy Water.Fabulous vanilla,in the same vein as Vanille Insenseè.Not sure I have anything with a prominent Narcissus note,I shall have to investigate.
XO’s
Scrap that last sentence,I do have quite a few!
Amouage Myths and Hermès Eau de Narcisse bleu being 2!??
Happy Easter Monday J!
Ours was the tiring sort of 3 day weekend, and I’m dragging this morning, and my legs still hurt from long bike ride on Friday.
Glad yours was relaxing!
Rest those legs and have a nice cup of tea(or 3 cups!)
?✌??
Been seriously considering Gypsy Water, but I don’t think it lasts that long, so I am kind of on the fence.
Another chilly morning, day, week. So tired of it!
Wearing JM Mimosa & Cardamom and drinking my second cup of coffee with a splash of rose water. I can barely keep my eyes open on this crazy, busy day at work. I need to take a walk at lunchtime.
Happy Monday, everyone! ☕️ ☕️☕️
Ditto…I have the heat on, that is just wrong for 4/18.
Hope you get that walk in.
I took a short walk. Too cold and windy for me to be outside ? . But I am more awake now!
Good for you. We walked after dinner last night in the same arctic get ups we wear in January…it’s crazy.
Ugh, I can also barely keep my eyes open today. It’s such a Monday. The chilly, gloomy, rainy weather isn’t helping either.
I am glad I am home already. It was an exhausting day. We are expecting heavy rain later tonight. Back to winter! ?
The cats were draped all over the heat vents when the thermostat kicked on this afternoon.
I never thought we were going to need the heat again, but I am glad is back. This crazy weather is taking a toll on me already! ?
It’s Monday and back to reality with paying those pesky bills. A little over a week, my parents leave for thier California vacation. Starting my shopping list and getting some of the stuff I will need today. Wearing Chanel Chance today.
Pesky bills on Monday morning are too much reality!
It’s supposed to rain here for the next 10 days, so I’m not looking forward to that, I have things I need to do in the yard. SOTD is Shalimar MVP.
10 days! That is 9 too many.
Same here, ugh.
Yeah, really hoping for at least some breaks in this rainy period in the early evening hours so I can get out for some walks after work.
Wow, that is quite the squishy stretch of weather. ☔
In the office today. We are supposed to come in two days a week now. Seems I’m the only one who chose Monday as one of their days. Fine by me.
I was planning to wear No 19 EdT to lean into the work vibes, but as I was looking for it, Kilian L’Heure Vert caught my eye instead.
Tea is Paper and Tea’s Hunky Dory Breakfast, which is good but not amazing. I’m tempted to stop by the mall on the way home tonight to sample a few things as a treat for going into the office.
Ours is 3x a week and you cannot choose to not be in the office on Mondays and Fridays. Supposedly, of there’s a holiday or you happen to have a day off, that day doesn’t count as eligible to be in the office.
? I’m not surprised some of your colleagues started a petition to relax some of those requirements. I’d get it if the company had a drop in profitability as a result of a more flexible approach, but I’m guessing there wasn’t.
The more vocal segment of the group wants 100% remote work. There are so many factors re: impact to profitability and I would say there’s no direct correlation.
Wow, that seems harsh.
There was a big to do about not being one-size fits all but this is exactly what they’re doing now – some places just simply do not have enough workspaces to accommodate the 60% in office scenario considering some places still have the social distancing requirements. I’m lucky I have my own workspace!
That is not at all responsive to employee concerns, IMO.
Did you end up going to the mall tonight?
SOTM is Cuir Ottoman, to go with the scent of scones baking. Two thank-yous are in order: one to whoever it was who mentioned the Smitten Kitchen website — I baked the Dreamy Cream Scones recipe and it is delicious! The other thank-you is owed to whoever it was who mentioned Santal Volcanique, from Maison Crivelli — JB, I think, but could have been someone else. It’s marvelously complex, leaning masculine enough that it reminded me of my father’s after-shave from back when he bothered with that, but not so masculine that I wouldn’t ever wear it. It’s big, and sort of old-school (in a very good way), and while it would never be a regular thing for me I could imagine indulging in it from time to time.
Oh, I love Smitten Kitchen! Her website is one of the first I’ll check when looking for a recipe, especially for any baked good 🙂
She makes everything look and sound so easy (not to mention delicious)! I have to admit that the scone dough would have come out a bit better if I hadn’t misplaced my pastry blender somewhere in my last two moves. Am heading out shortly to buy a new one, along with a glass loaf pan (another item lost in a move sometime or other).
It *could have been me,I did have a discussion recently here about Maison Crivelli and my love for the odd Hisbiscus one-and of course I love the Santal with that strange-strange-STRANGE warm stone/hot lava note!Enjoy!
I am wearing Elizabeth W Leaves and having a cup of Earl Grey tea along with some white chocolate Easter candy.
Elizabeth W doesn’t list narcissus as one of the notes in this perfume, but I pick up on it while wearing it.
Points then! Plus bonus point since almost never hear about Elizabeth W anymore.
I’m in Viktoria Minya Eau de Hongrie again. Such a pleasant light floral/honey fragrance.
I’m also requesting recommendations for vacuums (I know – this is not our usual topic, but I’m pretty desperate). We’re about to have new carpet installed (the old was awful when we moved in four years ago and it’s even awful-er now). I loved my old canister vac that finally conked out and now I have only an ancient Hoover from my mom. My treat to myself is to buy a new vacuum for our new carpet. I need one that has some tools, and can actually fit under our fairly high bed frames to vacuum underneath. Maybe I need two? One for hardwood and one for carpet? Anyway, thoughts? Dyson? (no pets at the moment but we’ll have a dog again someday) Miele? A newer, better Hoover? Thanks for any recs!
I have a Kenmore Elite Pet vacuum. Sucks up pet hair like a champ, so I assume it gets the dirt out of the carpet too. It has a switch to change hardwood to carpet and vice versa and some tools. The only thing I don’t like is that I think it’s heavy.
Thanks, foxbins! All suggestions are welcome even if heavy!
A vote for the Dyson cordless! We have this one: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/dyson-v8-animal-cord-free-stick-vacuum-in-nickel-titanium/1061083295 I love it because it’s light and easy to use. It works well on both hardwood and carpet (and if you need super suction on carpet, there’s a MAX mode, though that runs the battery down quite fast). Also easy to empty. Lots of attachments that help you get into difficult-to-reach places, and its flexibility and flat profile mean you can get under most furniture 🙂
Second vote! I will never enjoy vacuuming, but now I hate it so much less.
This looks great, thanks.
We recently bought a Miehle canister style, and you can swivel the handle on the powered head with the carpet brushes so that it lays fairly flat and fits easily under beds and low tables. Has lots of tools to go on the end of a telescoping tube, and they (the tools) all have a spot they snap into under a door in the canister body. Lots of suction, and the whole thing works really well. I especially like that it has a very long power cord, and that there’s a button that automatically pulls the cord back up into the canister body. Slick.
Thanks. Can you tell me which version you bought?
Yes, it’s called the “Complete C3 Powerline”, according to the printing on the canister. As I recall, it was the middle-of-the-line model, not the most basic nor the most fancy-schmancy.
Watching recs closely as well as my trusty Genesis (local brand,I think not international) also konked out recently.
Those Dysons are pricey,I tried a robot but that was pretty stupid(does not even MOVE on my persian carpet, haha!)
I do like the Dyson one that looks like an excercise ball though Seems tough enough for heavy duty persian and ok for usage on hard surfaces
A good vacuum cleaner is, well, maybe not a joy, but definitely worth appreciating. I have a Shark Vertex, which has terrific suction, but like all Sharks, it topples over easily.
I bought a Dyson Animal Upright (with the ball) for Xmas. It required a bit of assembly out of the box, but if you’ve ever played with Legos, you would be able to do that. It works great on all the cat hair I deal with. It also has attachments to get into smaller niches, etc. The downsides are that it is heavy (approx. 20 lbs) and can’t fit under the bed like my previous Dyson cannister vac could. But I am very happy with it.
Thanks, Jalapeno. Plenty of Legos in my past, so that part is fine!
Another vote for Miele. I have the Compact C1, and yes, it goes under furniture very well, has a nice long cord, and easy to pull can. I have mostly tile and hardwood, but I got the optional carpet attachment that has a spinning brush (and that makes a rather amusing “tubo” sound evoking “wait, there’s more” features ASOTV). Its bags are pricey due to being high filtration ones but even with two cats they do seem to last.
Thanks, Mossy!
I was going to wear Ostara yesterday for Easter, but forgot; I suppose I’ll wear that later this week for the CP. What I did do yesterday is eat a Honey-Baked Ham (from the eponymous store) for the first time in my life, and omg it’s amazing. So is the cheesy bacon potato side dish we got with it. Highly recommend! I also held an Easter egg hunt for my 35yo husband in our backyard, because I do not think we will ever grow up.
House twins with springpansy today in VM Hedonist. It’s…fine. Very pleasant, and I may well finish this sample, but I certainly won’t seek out a bottle.
I’m back to the real world after a lovely spring break, wearing Splendiris by Dusita. I love the far dry down of this one.
I finally tried Jicky last night after hating it on a card…and I love it. Skin is so weird.
Second that sentiment…
Oh gosh, Koyel; sorry I ended up here!
I can’t believe you have never had that ham!
MY FIL sends one for Xmas every year, and we freeze it in little bags for emergency dinner 🙂
What wonderful emergency dinners!
Growing up in an Indian household, we didn’t really eat hams 🙂 if I ever ate ham, it was either the cheapo sandwich meat or else fancy cured hams (iberico, prosciutto, etc.). I think I had my first honey-baked-style hams as an adult! This will certainly not be my last Honey-Baked Ham; there’s a store just a few miles from us, and I imagine there’s less of a line on any day that isn’t Easter weekend 🙂
Haven’t had one in a while; the store is on the other side of town, but I think I will be stopping in this weekend. They are so good.
That “cheesy bacon potato side dish” sounds pretty darn good to me! ?
It is SO GOOD and I want to go back to HBH just to get that side dish.
I’m cooking cauliflower, let’s see if I manage to keep it whole and not overcook it.
I was in a variety of scents today as it was still a holiday in the UK. I started with Idylle Love Blossom for a soft lilac, then it was Boucheron Quatre Intense which has some amazing citrus but is a little too sweet and now it’s Millot Crêpe de Chine edt, I also have the extrait which was a great blind buy for a very reasonable price, it’s probably my most precious perfume, I haven’t seen it listed since I bought it.
A 3 perfume day 🙂
? and just while washing the kitchen floor.
Even better!
I steam my cauliflower to keep it intact.
I used very little water and it did retain its shape, steaming is a great option.
I roasted cauliflower florets once and decided that it wasn’t nearly as tasty as roasted broccoli.
Oh, yes, broccoli is delicious.
Working on Project Decant, with Carner Barcelona Cuir. But! also on the bottle of PdN Baikal Leather. It was a soul-saving pandemic buy, delivered to my door by the lovely, local Scentrique. and it is close to done, yay for the less-daunting 30ml bottles.
I badly need to do a project decant. Suspect I have serious spoilage.
Smelling terrific this morning in Jacomo Art Collection No. 8!
Nice!
We had four days of glorious autumn weather over Easter, back to work today and it’s another sunny morning.
I’m wearing a favourite today, Fêtes Persanes from MDCI.
You smell wonderful!
Cold and chilly Monday! But it gives me an opportunity to wear heavier perfumes that will be put away when the summer muggies come calling.
Had a fairly simple Easter dinner yesterday, with a spiral sliced ham and roasted baby potatoes. Plenty of leftovers, to make dinner prep for a while easier. I also had an IPA to go with my portion, which worked surprisingly well. No Easter candy, though.
SOTD = Dior Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle, from the sample stash. A limited edition that I wish I had known about when it was available. Another perfumista lament!
Had lunch with my siblings, also great (company and food) and also had leftovers!
I spent a bit of time today plotting what to do with some of the leftover ham, assuming that it lasts long enough.
Wrap some puff pastry (or other simple dough) around it, sprinkle cheese on top, and make hand pies!
You smell wonderful. My sister gave me a mini of that, and yes, it’s one I would have liked to had a little more. Very pricey when it does pop up on Eeee-b..
Yeah, those Evil-Bay prices are scary!
You are early today!
Do you like Sensuelle better than the original?
A little bit, yeah. ? Yes, I prefer Sensuelle much more! It has floral notes on me in addition to the Hypnotic vanilla base. I did not care for the OG Hypnotic at all when it first came out. I should give it a re-sniff to see if my opinion has changed.
Sotd is Lancome Climat (from a generous NSTer swap)
It’s so enjoyable to be reminded of a perfume note and then rediscover fragrances I have with that note – one of life’s simple pleasures.
Does Climat remind you of something you already have?
Maybe Synthetic Jungle w/out the aldehydes?
Does it remind you of something else you have?
Never sniffed Climat.
For me, the aldehydes give it an old school floral vibe but it also feels contemporary.
Interesting! The most notable floral aldehyde I have smelled from Lancome is Magie, which is very ladylike. Not to be confused with its perfume sibling Magie Noir!
SOTD = Eau de Haircut, Guerlain Royal Extract II and Valentino Uomo
Had the day off and got my haircut…so much hair – I suppose it’s better than slow-growing hair. I spritzed on Royal Extract II but since I couldn’t smell it (I blame Eau de Haircut), I spritzed on the Valentino which I was able to smell.
I was horrified when I read about pet leasing! Some unscrupulous companies have saddled unsuspecting pet owners with a lease instead of a loan. The practice was made illegal in 8 states, including MA. When a MA resident could not make her payments since she lost her job due to the pandemic, the finance company threatened to repossess her dog! Here’s the article…hopefully no pay wall.
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/14/us/dog-leasing-massachusetts.html
What? That is so crazy and wrong.
I know, right? It should just be outlawed everywhere!
Wow, I’ve never even heard of pet leases. Crazy.
I never knew pet leasing was even an option. This shouldn’t be legal. The poor pets.
Not gonna read it. That article would only tick me off!
I went ahead and jumped into narcissus week with both feet by choosing Masque Milano Romanza today. Pretty darn intense and animalic narcissus perfume. I found a great deal on a bottle at Twisted Lily a year or two back when the previous, original owner was liquidating. This was actually my first time using the bottle (which is gorgeous and well made btw, the box too) since I’d already had a decant that has since been given away. The atomizer makes such a pleasant mist, truly a pleasure to use.
Yay for getting a great perfume when the getting was really good!
I’m so glad I snatched it up!
A dark and rainy day, wearing Santal Pao Rosa. Looking forward to our trip to Portland Thursday, although it is supposed to rain the whole time there too. :-/
You smell fabulous! Maybe I’ll wear mine tomorrow although it may have to only be 3 spritzes, at most.
You’ll be nice and cozy sniffing in Fumerie 🙂
Looking forward to it and seeing foxbins again!
We ended up canceling our Portland trip for this weekend. Between the rain and just not really feeling like traveling, it seemed like the right choice. Hope you still have a good time while you’re there!
I totally understand, crappy weather is no fun. I’m attending a conference and will be pretty busy inside all weekend so we’re going anyway. Hope to meet up with you another time!
I hope so too!
Gloomy Monday here. I am sampling Lancome Idole Aura today. It has a slight coconut smell and I wanted to match to my new Tree Hut Tropical Glow body butter.
You know inflation is getting out of hand when you go to get half off Easter candy and it’s only30% off! Lol!
Gloomy weather twins today, ugh!
I suspect that by the time I go hunting for leftover Easter candy it will be all gone! Oh well, money AND calories saved.
I don’t think I will have the time this year to take advantage of the Easter candy sales. So glad, since I have to start cutting on sweets.
Even the dollar store no longer sells just one dollar items. Hoping the crazy inflation will slow down soon.
Scent for a day which has been rainy, chilly, darkly clouded, lightly clouded and sunny in turn is Diorella from a decant. I keep being surprised at how much I like it – and I like knowing that “they” still make ’em like that!
Nice. Is this newish Diorella then?
Scent of the first part of the day was Bois Farine, which I lost in my apartment a few years ago, and found it while moving. Now I’m in Kismet, which is very Shalimar adjacent.
Bois Farine, yum.
How fitting is it that I’m currently boon-docking at Vermillion Cliffs National Monument on International Monument Day? A bit cloudy, but I’m fine with that because this place is an oven. A beautiful oven, but still, an oven! ?
Found my little purse spray of SSS Equestrian again! I have lost and found this particular scent about a hundred times now, but it must have some type of homing device because it always finds its way back to me. Happily wearing it today because absence really does make the heart grow fonder and I was already pretty fond of this one. ?
And?? Is it as gorgeous as it is in pictures?
https://www.instagram.com/p/Ccg2zB0Jud3/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Yes, although I arrived a bit too early and the sun washed everything out. I took two time lapse videos of the sunset but one was out of focus, and the other not great either. Definitely gorgeous, in a barren, inhospitable way. Hoping to maybe see a condor tomorrow..! Also hoping to get my lazy ? out of bed early tomorrow for the sunrise ?
Love that landscape. Hope you saw that condor!!
