It’s Tuesday and National Thesaurus Day. Birthdays: AA Milne, Cary Grant, Philippe Starck. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Imaginary Authors Fox in the Flowerbed.
Reminder: on 1/21, for Christian Dior's birthday, wear a Dior fragrance (this is a repeat from 2014).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Dior Lily of the Valley teapot ("Mr. Dior was passionate about flowers and chose the Lily of the Valley as one of his good-luck charms. A symbol of purity and joy, Lily of the Valley heralds warmer days to come and adorns the teapot in Limoges porcelain designed by Cordelia de Castellane") is $550.
Bvlgari Omnia today.
Sunday night I was serenaded by a multitude of coyote! At 130am they started and kept up a nice little concert until about 145am or so. They were close, too. 2/3 of the campground was closed, so I think they were in that area having fun. It was a wonderful show?
That sounds incredible. We’ve had a few in our neighborhood and a couple of times they’ve responded to me when I do my (very bad) fake coyote call.
I do a good faux cat’s meow and the look of feline confusion is hilarious. I’ll see my own way out now … ?
How cool!
What did Doggo think?
Oh that’s awesome! And you smell great too.
Ah, the perfect serenade! I’m always surprised that we *don’t* hear them here, seemingly ever, though they’re around. A couple of years ago we watched a very young one playing with a ‘possum in the field behind our house — that is, the little coyote very plainly wanted to play and the ‘possum very plainly did not, but from a human vantage point it was all very charming and Beatrix-Potter-esque.
Fun! I remember spending the night in Kruger Park South Africa and being scared by the hyenas.
Haha!
We have some jackal in my area, they always chatter away as soon as it gets dark.Remember I’m still in the city…Lol.It’s a wild wild country, this beloved place I call home.
they are very big!
Oh how fun!
Are you wearing the original Omnia? I’ve got Indian Garnet in my collection and have always wanted Green Jade as well.
Haha that’s awesome!What did T-rex think?
Another early bird here. 5am meeting.
I think Chanel for today, but not sure which one. See where the fragrance wheel lands.
and the hand landed on box of eels edt.
You snel feb!
Can I quote you on that? ?
It’s a Petunia special ?
?
thank you!!
That’s just wrong. 5 a.m. is simply TOO EARLY to expect anybody to be functional. I absolutely loathe having to get up to an alarm.
You probably snel feb, though, whatever scent you ended up choosing!
I am not going to continue on with the house of many fragrances. The first project was delightful, this one not so much. I can’t AND don’t want to work from 5am to 7pm.
GEEZ I am old.
That’s too long of a work day no matter one’s age!
thank you for the validation!
Love the lily of the valley tea pot. Love the flower too, though I have never found a perfume of it that works for me. Maybe I will hear suggestions here 🙂
The teapot is quite pretty but luckily not my favorite ever…because not spending that on a teapot!
yeah way out of site!
Vintage Diorissimo does it for me — no need of any further lily of the valley scents! 🙂
I love the teapot, love the flower, love muguet scents! I blog about them periodically, usually in May. Can recommend several if you like!
Oversprayed myself with vintage Dior Poison today.
Has anyone ever purchased through parfums de france? I’m wondering if they are legit as I am eyeing up a couple TRNP samples.
I haven’t bought from Parfums de France in a long time, but I used to order Jolie Madame de Balmain for my mother from there, and always had excellent service: prompt delivery, free minis and samples with every order, the works. Assuming nothing has gone catastrophically wrong, I’d definitely recommend them.
Thank you! It could be a deep rabbit hole..
Jolie Madame is another beautiful fragrance!
I haven’t received any free samples, but the service has been very good.
I have a few TRNPs on my sample list. Which ones are calling your name?
I was looking at Embers and Irises.
I love Irises! I think it’s one of Teone’s best scents. Enjoy!
Thanks Petunia, that’s great to hear! (from one iris fan to another ?)
I am eyeballing Embers and Rose Embers.
I bet they are both great!
I have bought from them several times with no problem whatsoever. Be sure to use code Save20 for 20% off. I have both Embers and Irises, good picks!
That’s great to hear! And thanks for the code!
You were Very Brave with your perfume choice today!
Doing Dior Week and today I’m in a little Poison, not the vintage but probably 10 years old, maybe 15, and I finally figured out what I don’t like about it: they dumbed it down. The top has fresh elements added that don’t mesh with the rest of the composition, and it just isn’t as complex as it was back in the day. It’s still pretty good once the top has burned off, but it can’t hold a candle to the vintage: I can’t help feeling it’s not *really* Poison.
A woman who worked in a perfumery where I lived once told me a horror story. A customer would regularly come in, pick up the Poison tester, and, the clerk mimed, spray repeatedly while pinwheeling it around her upper body: “(ks-ks-ks-ks-ks) I just love this stuff! (ksksksksks)” One spray is more than enough for most people: I imagine they had to vacate the place after that little performance.
?
I’ve been part of that horror story, lol..
As a teen, I worked in a local pharmacy that had a pretty substantial fragrance section right behind the registers I worked at. I learned a lot about perfumes but also had to deal with customers like this woman AND my boss who also loved to overspray scents she loved. Some days were just plain miserable so I’d hide out in the basement periodically under the guise of “straightening up things down there”.
The Lush store at Herald Square has at least one homeless person spraying herself silly with perfumes. I saw this same person twice.
That actually makes me so sad, given how hard it is for people without homes to get access to basic hygiene and showers.
Interesting to see your view on the current/recentish versus the classic Poison, thanks!
I found enough Dior La Collection Couturier Parfumeur minis for the rest of the week. Today’s is Milly-la-Foret.
Perfect!
I also found two old mini bottles in my sample box and I put a dab of the original Addict today. The top notes are definitely off (who knows how old these minis are), but after the opening it was ok for a while, not too sweet, spicy vanilla scent. Then it got too strong for me…
I don’t hate it, but I don’t think I’ll wear it soon again.
I remember I had Dior Addict Eau Fraiche when I was a teenager and I loved it back in the day, but I can’t remember the smell now 🙂
I have never tried any of the Addict perfumes and the current versions don’t seem to be well-regarded here but I do wish I knew what it used to smell like (any of them! It’s just a complete blank to me and I do like knowing my mainstream perfumes). I used to love Dune in my teens but when I tried a new bottle around 10 years ago it was dreadful, just dreadful. But Dune 20 years ago…ah ?
I’ve checked Robin’s review (https://nstperfume.com/2008/05/20/dior-addict-by-christian-dior-perfume-review/) and it’s very similar to my experience today, except for the opening part since the top notes in my mini are clearly off.
The flanker I had in my teen days was definitely much softer, I don’t recall vanilla at all, only a pleasant floral scent.
Eau Fraiche has nothing in common with the original Addict.
I would call it a spring floral, but I also got a peppery note too. Some people get a lot of White floral with the original but for me it is a almost all vanilla.
I didn’t get any white flowers from the original today, just a lot of spicy vanilla and tonka bean, and maybe some sandalwood.
Thanks for refreshing my memory on Eau Fraiche 😉
Thank you (and thanks to lillyjo as well) for this discussion!
I never tried Addict back in the day when it came out. Not sure why, but I just wasn’t interested in it at all. Might have been the name.
I liked both the name and the add campaign when it came out. I guess I was their target customer back then – a teenager looking for cheap transgression ?
That’s a very pretty teapot set. There’s something so civilized about using beautiful china like this vs. take out paper cups, one of which I bought this morn. while out at the dr. It was lovely, however, to walk home thru Central Park with a steaming hot cup of coffee on a bright, sunny winter day.
SOTD: Rose 31
I do miss that about New York. Last time I was there, though, it was a cold snap and we tried to walk across the park between museums, and it was miserable with the kids. 🙂 Would love to be there by myself on a sunny day, though.
SotD = Tauer Wowilla Body oil + Nivea Creme
Vanilla and flowers go great together. It’s an accidental combination that’s working. I chose the Wowilla as I got dressed this morning, then put Nivea on my chapped hands.
Have a wonderful day, fragrant friends. 🙂
Aha, then I should wear some Rose Delight with some vanilla perfume late!
That sounds like a really nice combination.
I’d forgotten about the Wowilla oil! Emptied a bottle of it last winter and thoroughly enjoyed the process. You smell(ed) great today!
Hello everyone, wearing a lavish amount of Diorella from a recent bottle. I can really smell a chypre element to it today, which surprised me (can’t remember what I thought I was going to get from it when I bought it in the autumn but I wanted it anyway) and hey! it’s great!
Oh – can I ask all you nice people a question please, and I promise to check back in here later today ?Maison Francois Kurkdjian – any nice ones worth trying? Been wondering what will happen to this range when he starts at Dior, and I don’t want to miss knowing this line (it’s been in the fanciest department store here for a while). I’ve had an eye on his A la Rose for ages but don’t think I’ve actually tested a single perfume from his own range. I know that Baccarat Rouge thingy has generated plenty of chat…The hair perfumes are a reasonable price for me so I’d be happy to start with a few recommendations, thank you!
I am a huge fan of MFK Grand Soir! If you like amber, then I highly recommend it.
Yes to this, ABSOLUTELY, a DIVINE scent. You will get compliments from strangers!
Wow ? The rare few times I have complimented a stranger have always been really lovely encounters, so I would love to be on the receiving end of that sort of compliment!
Oh I do like amber – thank you!
I seriously doubt anything will happen to his own line, but it never hurts to be careful.
Yes, I feel like being cautious – I hesitated too much over a few Serge Lutens a few years ago, and then they all changed, so now I don’t want to wait too long to try a well-regarded range. Of course, there will always be more perfume but still, I feel like giving myself a little perfume lesson in the coming weeks!
I enjoy MFK Petit Matin on a bright morning and L’eau A la Rose when I am in the mood for a sweet rose scent. I tried a couple of perfumes from his Aqua Collection but didn’t think much of them :/
Petit Matin is still my favorite from the line, I think.
Noted, thank you NinaV and Robin!
Ciel de Gum
Oh yes, I definitely second this!
Wonderful, thank you both!
I’ve tried quite a few, and I like most! My favorites are Petit Matin, Oud Satin Mood Extrait (but be prepared to clear a room!) and Amyris Femme Extrait (sort of an oddball floral, but I love it).
That is good encouragement, thank you!
I have a travel spray of Baccarat Rouge, and it’s a fun, imaginary night out in Monte Carlo. The hair mist idea is a good one, because I remember some of this line are hard-hitters.
Thank you!
Seconding Baccarat Rouge 540, and Oud Satin Mood.
Good to know, thanks Jalapeno!
I have the hair mist of A La Rose — it’s lovely! I blogged about it here: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2020/05/19/roses-de-mai-marathon-a-la-rose/.
Thank you, I enjoyed that post and its comments ?
I find many of them pretty but bland. I also adore Oud Satin Mood. Among his lighter scents, I prefer APOM, which has more character. It’s an orange blossom and delicate yet distinctive in a very classy way.
Ohh I haven’t tried a new orange blossom in a long time, wonderful, thank you!
Dearest friends, I have happy news! Some of you may recall that I was super stressed out last week waiting for some important news. Hajusuuri correctly identified the source of the stress, and I am thrilled to tell you all that it broke in my favor. I got a new job!!! It’s EXACTLY the job I’ve wanted for a while; actually, it’s something I applied to years ago and didn’t get, so I was very excited when they reached out to me in December. I can scarcely believe it (to be honest, I still don’t believe it half the time; technically I do not have a finalized offer in hand, as we are still negotiating, and I have this terror that I hallucinated our conversations on Friday).
Over the weekend, we went up to SF for a micromoon, staying at the Ritz and eating at one of our favorite restaurants (Octavia). Near-excessive champagne was consumed all weekend. In celebration of my new job, we popped over to the Hermes near the hotel and I got a gorgeous cashmere-and-silk scarf and some Iris Ukiyoe. So that is the scent I am wearing today, the last gasps of my fabulously decadent and celebratory weekend 🙂
Congratulations! What a great celebration.
Thank you, LizzieB <3
That’s such good news! Congratulations! And wonderful choice on a bottle of Iris Ukiyoe.
Thanks, TRF! I also sniffed Cardamusc and Myrrhe Eglantine–both great scents. Someday, I may get Cardamusc 🙂
Congratulations! Sounds like a wonderful weekend celebration, too.
Thank you, ockeghem!
How lovely, both the job and the mini/micro moon! So happy for you.
Thank you, Robin!
We think any -moon for which we don’t even leave the state only counts as a micro 🙂
Congratulations! I’m very happy for you!
Thank you, lillyjo!!
Congratulations! ?
Thanks, NinaV!
That’s wonderful news — congratulations!
Thank you, Lisa D!
Congratulations, koyel and what a great way to celebrate!
Thank you, hajusuuri 🙂 and very astute of you to have guessed the news last week!
Oh, my goodness!!! Congratulations! And you do know how to celebrate.
Thank you, skalolazka! We certainly went all out this weekend 🙂
Congratulations Koyel, that’s wonderful news about the job and your celebration sounds flat out fabulous. That scarf must be gorgeous!
Thank you, ringthing! It is; I love it. I still haven’t worn it because I’m afraid of ruining it, but I will get over that fear soon, I hope!
Congratulations, and your weekend sounds absolutely perfect! So happy for you!
Thank you, Isabella 🙂
Congratulations, Koyel! That is such fantastic news! Glad you had a wonderful celebration ?
Thank you very much, Gail!
Congratulations, how wonderful!
Thank you, Gaynor!
That’s wonderful, congratulations!
Thanks, cazaubon!
Fantastic and well done!
Thank you, vampsandtramps! (Also, what a fun username! I don’t think we’ve interacted before, so hello!)
What a great weekend, plus a great shopping spree. Enjoy it!
Thank you, tannina 🙂
Congrats and yay for champagne, cashmere and perfume!!!
Thank you, She-ra! (Those three are a great combo, right?)
What good news – I will now stand and give a twirl of happiness for your getting a job! 😀 Glad you were able to enjoy a getaway as part of the adventure.
Thank you, MossyBerry! It makes me feel very warm and fuzzy to think of you giving a twirl of happiness for me 🙂
Very happy for you and what a celebration too.
Thank you, Aurora!
Congratulations on the new job and what a fabulous weekend! Well done!

Oh I am just so happy for all this good news!
Thanks, apsara! 🙂
What terrific news, congratulations!! And so fun to hear about your celebratory trip.
Thanks tulipani 🙂
Hurray!!! Congratulations!
How wonderful! Congratulations!
Today is my Monday and I’m definitely having a case of the Tuesday Mondays. Only a couple meetings today at least, and I’m gonna try to sneak in multitasking with laundry. That’s definitely one of the perks of working from home.
I’m in Dune today and yesterday was Bois d’Argent. Planning to wear Dior all week. Between my samples, decants, and bottles, I could do a couple weeks of Dior.
Ugh for the Tuesday Mondays. I am just having a random January blahday, which isn’t quite as bad.
I was surprised how many Dior’s I have – I never thought of it as a “favorite house!”
Stella today – rose just sounded good to me. Light snowfall…big flakes. Very pretty.
Heading up to the library later. A book came in, and one is due. The latter I didn’t finish because it just didn’t do much for me, the one at the library is a biography of Louis Armstrong by Terry Teachout, who so very sadly died recently and suddenly. I’ve read his columns, blog and theater reviews for years. He’ll be missed.
Very sad about Teachout, and he was young — 65.
In the opposite of a Dior today– Bois Sacre by Arte Profumi, a syrupy thick amber/Oriental.
Question inspired by tea set above. Has anyone tried Comme de Garcon’s Lily? Fell down a social media rabbit hole the other day and found myself watching an Instagram-posted video from ScentBar on the folks who work there’s all time perfume favorites. Lily was one of them.
Have not smelled it in years but I liked it, never wanted to own it. My testing notes say “bright and pretty” and “heavy green notes”.
But it is rare that I liked a lotv that isn’t Diorissimo 🙂
I find it to be very similar to their Vogue 125 (which, last I checked, was on clearance at Off Fifth)
In perfume math, that price is close to gratis—so I bit! Enabler pin to you 🙂
Ooo a shiny pin for me and a pretty new frag (and a pretty red bottle) for you. Win-win! Enjoy it!
I’m in Geisha Vanille Hinoki layered over Providence Perfume body oil. It’s been a hectic Tuesday/Monday at work. I won’t miss January when it’s over.
Geisha Vanilla Hinoki is lovely — one of the few vanillas that doesn’t feel cloying to me.
I think so too. Not too many vanilla centered fragrances in my collection.
Hope the day and month go by quickly for you!
Your sotd makes me think of ElisaP.
Aww. It reminds me if her too! I hope that she and her family are all well. She had an excellent nose!
Sotd is Eau Sauvage – what a masterpiece!
Meant to add that I wish it still had the more “sauvage” edge that the original had. It was amazing to smell it at the Osmotheque.
I love Eau Sauvage — so bracing and herbal and thirst-quenching. I wear it a lot when it’s very hot out, on those days when you can’t bring yourself to turn on the stove (hard to imagine at the moment, ensconced in my cashmere and thick socks and sheepskin-on-the-couch and sense of vague, crawling chill in spite of it all…)
I will be joining you in that (too) this week.
I don’t have a lot of Dior in my collection. The only one that comes to mind is a small decant of Eau Noire, the only lavender I’ve managed to enjoy in a fragrance. I’m not sure where it is, though, and since this is the first day of my semester, it’s unlikely that I’ll have time to find it. Instead, I’m wearing Copal Azur, which is always a good choice.
Yes it is!
Excellent choice!
Lovely tea set up top — reminds me of Belleek. I’m in Paris-Deauville at the moment, but will switch to some Dior or other post-shower — maybe Gris Montaigne, since I seem to be in the mood for more sprightly perfumes this morning. Am a ways into Death Comes to Pemberley and am not feeling it so far — too much exposition (I guess for those who haven’t read Pride and Prejudice?) so far. Has anyone here finished it, and is it worth sticking with?
I finished it, because hey, it’s PD James, and she tried. But really, nobody should be writing sequels to P&P and I don’t know why she accepted the job.
It did not kill me to finish it, but trust me there is no reason to feel bad if you want to put it down.
Also they did do a tv series, you could always watch that instead.
Thanks, Robin — you’ve helped me feel less like I’m committing some sort of crime. 🙂 I think I will return this PD James (whose books I love) and find a different one of hers to spend my time with.
She is such a good writer! I think picking up someone else’s work, especially a work so universally beloved, is really a thankless task.
Commando today — just got back from a massage therapy appointment (my first in Galway; I booked with the person whose training seemed closest to what my hometown person has, and it seems like that was a good idea). Yesterday was HdP 1804, which I hadn’t worn since landing here. It made me happy all day.
I have no Diors of my own. My husband has some of the men’s, mostly sample sprays. All this talk of Poison and its flankers has made me curious to try it — I will see if the Brown Thomas fragrance department has a tester (I imagine they do).
I did NOT get to Parfumarija while in Dublin; our schedule was packed (I walked more than 20K steps on Saturday alone) and I decided to grab a sandwich in the tiny window of free time we had. We DID see Faith Healer (Brian Friel) at the Abbey Theatre. One of the very best productions I have ever seen — I am far from a theater expert, but it was brutal, spellbinding, and beautiful.
That sounds like a great trip (and that perfume store will be there the next time you visit) and oh that play -I saw a wonderful production of it years ago in Cork and I am so glad to hear this current production is so good.
It was so, so good. And I’ve just learned that this week’s shows, which are supposed to be the end of the run (I think), have been canceled because of a COVID outbreak within the cast. I feel so fortunate to have seen it.
A sandwich is always the best choice. I’m so glad you got to see the production before it closed!
And good thing you saw it when you did, they’ve cancelled the rest of the performances! (Looked up the production; guess somebody must have gotten sick?)
I’m spending another day in Pink Jasmine and Green Banana, or, as Hermes calls it, Vanille Galante. It’s my go-to comfort scent when I want a comfort scent that whispers and tiptoes rather than cuddles me like a weighted blanket.
In other scented news, in my eternal quest for a good night’s sleep I sprang for a Four Seasons pillow, but couldn’t bring myself to try sleeping on it last night because it smelled so objectionable. I’ll be sending it back today.
Aw, that’s a shame about your pillow. Have you tried a weighted blanket? I have a couple of friends that swear by them.
I do have one and I think it helps, although thus far neither it nor any other insomnia preventive has effectively thrown the switch and fixed the issue — it’s more like each thing provides about a 5% improvement. I have some passionflower-hops-valerian tincture on the way, so fingers crossed!
So sorry about the pillow – it is so hard to find a good one. As for insomnia, I have resorted to using pot gummies (marijuana edibles). Finally I am getting good reliable sleep (as long as I keep my anxiety under control).
I’ve been taking CBD gummies, which may contribute another 5% improvement. The one time I tried pot gummies they kept me awake, but I’ve been told I need to seek out a formulation that’s specifically intended for sleep.
The ones I take are THC with CBN. Apparently that combo is supposed to be best for sleep. The brand is Wyld:
https://wyldcanna.com/products/elderberry-gummies
Oo — thanks for the recommendation!
I’m sorry to hear that. A stinky pillow won’t help anyone relax.
I’m using Prima’s CBD Sleep Tight gummies and they are really helping me.
And thanks for this recommendation as well! I think I’ll give these a whirl.
Argh, smelly pillow sounds awful. Do you want to try airing it out for a day or two? Or is it beyond that?
I sort of feel like if you splash out for a pillow you shouldn’t have to air it out before it’s usable… If it seemed dreamy I might try, but it’s also sort of crunkly-feathery and makes little noises and poky sensations when pressed, so, coupled with the bad smell, nah.
Day 2 of Dior week and I’ve already fallen off the wagon. Can’t seem to warm up today so I’m wearing 5 O’clock Gingembre, which helps. That tea set up top is beautiful to look at.
And I have not even climbed aboard yet! But I have 3 days left.
I’m in OJ Woman today, continuing my Ormonde Jayne week in lieu of any Dior.
That said, I just fell down a bit of a rabbit hole and ordered a bunch of vintage samples at StC, that (fingers crossed) will be waiting for me when I go to my sister’s next month. Poison is one of them — it was sort of the “scents I wore long ago / my mom wore” plus “some mainstream things I should have tried” rabbit hole.
That tea set is lovely, but fortunately not tempting — a) the price, and b) I simply cannot get another thing I don’t use much into my kitchen. It is designed to hold exactly the stuff I already have!
Oh fun, enjoy your vintage samples? I wonder if they still have Dior Dior & Diorling & all those. But NOT going to look!
Lots of meetings today, a new person joining the team – a busy day ahead! I’m wearing a floral dress, so want a floral perfume, Divine is perfect for that.
Hope the busy day flew by!
Forgot it was Dior week again. Need to pull some bottles out to remind myself. Instead I’m in Santal Pao Rosa today.
You are having a love affair with Santal Pao Rosa!
Oooooooh, that’s a good one!
i am continuing my non-Dior Chypre week with Paloma Picasso EdT, that i bought two months ago. i think the only scent of Dior i now have is a decant of Granville, but this smells a bit like an ointment for rheumatism.
I got a package of korean skin serums and creams today, so i will do some testing the next weeks. I bought a serum with tranexamic acid for my dark spots and something with niacinamide and matrixyl plus a peptide cream and ampoule plus a snail cream. I use tretinoin nearly daily for antiaging, but otherwise love the cheap and interesting options of the korean skincare.
I love testing serums! I used a Pixi Beauty Glow Mask yesterday, and it was very smoothing.
Oh, let me know on the tranexamic acid. I’ve tried a variety of Sephora-sold solutions for my dark spots, none of which have worked one bit. Korean beauty products are pretty easy for me to get (I think — I know I can get Japanese products no problem).
Miss Dior Le Parfum is my sotd.
8 hours from now and I start my vacation. I like to take midweek to midweek because it seems to last longer.
This would drive me nuts unless I extend it to the end of the 2nd week. I am discombobulated today because we had yesterday off (not complaining).
You smell fabulous on your countdown to vacation. Enjoy your time off!
Enjoy your vacation, lillyjo! ?
Happy countdown and wishing you a very happy vacation!
Have a great vacation!
Happy vacation!
Enjoy your well deserved vacation!
Vacation!!! Woo hoo! You so deserve it.
Have a wonderful vacation!
Thanks all!
Have a great vacation, lillyjo!
Spent the day in Miss Dior le Parfum to be twin with Lillyjo, I regret very much that it was a limited edition and consequently the prices are silly nowadays.
Tonight I am in vintage Dioressence.
Hi twin!
Yes, incredibly silly prices! I blame some youtube “reviewers” for hyping it up about 2-3 years ago. Most of the viewers that bought it ended up not liking it too. Lol.
Smelling wonderful in Vanilla Diorama which I happened to grab this morning and, lo and behold, find myself CP compliant to boot! 🙂
Oh how lovely!
We are twins! ?
SotD Miss Dior 2019. A pleasant, rosy patchouli so I like it just fine. It’s unfair to compare it with real Miss Dior, so I don’t!
I can’t help it, I *still* wish they’d given it a new name!
Hello All!
SOTD: Combo of Memoire and Magic In the Air. Rather wonderful.
Like a good person listening to her Pilates teacher and doctor, ate a good protein rich breakfast (yogurt with low sugar jam, collegen & soy milk au lait coffee) and did my mat exercises. And am using the handrail on the stairs! Oven fried fish for lunch, and lentil chili for dinner.
How are you?
I am pretty awesome! How are you Ede???
This is awesome! I am feeling am pretty good!
That is good to hear!Happy Tuesday!?✌?
Is your vertigo improving at all?

In other news, I have 3 extra bags of trash and 2 stacks of magazines from the great slowly but surely clean-up project. I am not doing whole rooms at a time because I will never get done but the section within section cleanup is doing wonders!
Clean-up twins! But I am busy with the perfume cupboards, removing most boxes, and only keeping backups and some travel sets in theirs. It is liberating!!
Wow! At least you know where all your perfumes are ?
You are an inspiration with this clean-up project! ?
Maybe that’s the way to confront the mess in my house.
Thank you. When I said this was 2 years worth of spring cleaning, it was actually more than that. It does give me a sense of satisfaction because as soon as I am bored by one section, I move on to the next.
How do you eat an elephant?
One bite at a time!
Keep going!
You are so right!
Might need those COVID tests sooner than I think… there are rumblings of Mr. Jalapeno returning to the office sometime in the near future. Nothing concrete about that yet, though.
I got a 20-pack from work and even though it included a note that the expiration is 1 year from the date printed on the box, it means that expiration is coming up June 2022 … not long at all.
I ordered the 4-pack just to have some on hand.
Aww… I love the Noah’s Ark!
Thank you!
Thanks for the heads up about the covid test order site!
Another cold, gray day, but I bundled up and rearranged the garage. Where does all this stuff come from? Anyway, I am wearing En Passant, and applying more since this morning spritzes have disappeared.
You smell great! And I’m convinced that the boxes and bound-for-Goodwill clothes and half-empty packages of plant food have been breeding and proliferating in my garage when I’m not looking.
You smell wonderful. That would be a great scent for where I am today. 🙂
All the things that aren’t in your garage are in my basement 😉

Today chubby buddha turns 6
He chose Delina for my SOTD after sniffing a few bottles on my dresser.
Tomorrow is my dental work so I may be MIA for the rest of the week depending on how that goes.
Oh Happy Birthday to that cute little man!
Good luck for tomorrow!
?✌??
Grazie bello
Happy Birthday to chubby Buddha!
Good luck tomorrow!
How can chubby Buddha be six already?!
Hope tomorrow goes well. We know you will smell good anyway.
Happy birthday to him, and three cheers for Little Persons chosing our perfumes! I love the little insights I get when my son picks out my SOTD (apparently Safran Troublant is “the most Mama”).
Best of luck tomorrow!
Growing up so fast ?
Oh my! Time flies! Good luck tomorrow!
Happy Birthday to your Chubby Buddha, and good luck at the dentist tomorrow!
Happy birthday to your sweet Chubby Buddha! I hope your dental work goes super smoothly.
6 — I can’t believe it!! Hope he had a wonderful day.
And of course hope tomorrow goes well.
Good luck tomorrow! You smell great!
Definitely a Tuesday Monday today. I’m still figuring out what exactly I need to do at work today (a confusingly large array of meeting scheduling to be done) but I’m wearing Dzing! which is keeping me cozy at least.
And forgot to say that I’m a huge Cary Grant fan. Anyone else?
Oh my, oh yes! My in-laws love his films so I have seen many of them. One of my own favourites is Charade but the young Cary- oh my.
Yes! Turner Classics is playing several of his movies today for the occasion.
Cary Grant fan for sure! I watch North by Northwest at least once a year.
January is one big Monday
So true!
Yes!
Dzing! is such a great leather scent. You smell fabulous!
I was typing “Happy Monday”!!,then it hit me…Lol!
SOTD TUESDAY Prada Infusion d’Homme.I always chuckle about Turin’s review on this one in The Guide.I love this type of powdery soft Iris.Office friendly as well.
Happy Tuesday!!
P.S.I’ve taken the plunge…regarding perfume storage:OUT with about 90% of the boxes and packaging. They’re all still safe in dark cupboards, but OMG!I finally have space!Access! It feels like rediscovering my whole collection, and I am loving it!
XO’s
When in doubt, check for the teapot!?
I really should toss my boxes too, but I am not ready yet.
Haha.
Yeah,I feel you.It took me two moves and about 11 years of collecting perfumes to finally get to this point-of-no-return!
“we” can do it Lillyjo!?????
I love re-discovering new scents in the back of my closet
Hooray! I never keep any of the boxes, no matter how pretty they are. I need the space! I store all my bottles in a dark cupboard or in drawers, so they’re plenty safe.
It’s a mild and windy day out there. I’m in Shay&Blue Bood Oranges after showering with a mandarin shower gel.
Breakfast was a piece of banana buckwheat bread and chai tea. ?
I’m always looking for a good orangey shower gel. I tried Suave but could hardly smell it.
This one isn’t that fragrant, so I can’t really recommend it. I’m wondering if TBS Satsuma shower gel is better?
Oh, I should make some banana buckwheat bread! Do you have a great recipe?
It’s from Snacking Cakes, by Yosef Arefi. I can’t find it on the web, so will send it in the morning! ?
Oh huge thanks!!
Here ya go:
1/2C sugar
2 large eggs
1C mashed ripe bananas (about 2 bananas)
1/2C plain full fat Greek yogurt
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 tsp kosher salt (book recommends Diamond Crystal)
1C AP flour
1/2C buckwheat flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 stick unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees with rack in center of oven. Butter 8″ square pan and line with parchment paper. I used a 9″ round pan.
2. In large bowl, whisk sugar and eggs until pale and foamy. Add bananas, yogurt, vanilla and salt and whisk until emulsified.
3. Stir in flours and baking soda. Stir in melted butter.
4. Pour batter into pan, tap gently on counter, smooth the top of the batter and bake until tester comes out clean, 33-45 minutes. It was closer to 33 minutes for me in the 9″ round.
5. Allow to cool for 15 minutes and turn out on rack to cool completely.
I think I’d use a 9×5 loaf pan next time, because this would have been great for breakfast, sliced and dropped in the toaster and buttered. It’s a lighter, less dense cake than the typical banana bread. Book says 50 min in oven for a loaf pan. Good luck!
Lovely, thanks again Nancyleandros!
I’m limited on Dior, so I’m saving them. I wore Chergui today.
Over the weekend, my husband and I decided to further explore our favorite cuisines with cooking theme weeks. This is Thai week, and last night’s masaman curry noodle soup was awesome. Work is still awfully stressful, so this is giving me something to look forward to each day.
I find a lot of comfort in cooking good food, particularly when I’m exploring new taste sensations.
I hope your work situation settles down!
That’s a great idea for January blahs, too! Masaman curry noodle soup sounds wonderful.
I only have 2 Diors right now, so I will be wearing them on Thursday and Friday. Today I am cozy in Seville a l’Aube, although I put it on pretty early and it has faded a bit. I will apply something else cozy whecI get off at 5:00 here in a little while.
You smelled great today meredifay!
I would like to find some more winter orange blossom scents, but I haven’t found any I like as well as Dilletante. Maybe someone will create something even better!
Taking it easy occasional spritzes of Bulgari blue tea. It makes me think it must resemble those ultra-gentle, child-appropriate scents I hear about bu have never come across irl.
Oh, I do like that one!
Comparing two musk samples today, neither a Dior. Frist is Arquiste Peau, which to my nose is coriander tartness and salty skin. Second it Bruno Acampora Musc, which is more rounded and heavy than the Peau, with clove and rose supporting the musk.
Drank through a bunch of tea bags today – F&M English Mint, Tea Forte Rooibos, and Miro Tea Cinnamon Ginseng (which is a close but not quite substitute for my beloved, discontinued Tealuxe Orange Zephyr).
Hmmmmm, that Bruno Acampora Musc sounds nice!
It is gorgeous. I would love to try the Extrait and Perfume oil versions, but samples lead to bottles and my credit card screams like a banshee whenever I look at the FB prices.
The days are definitely getting longer where I am at… the sun now sets AFTER 5pm, whoo hoo! Little things like that can make a big difference in one’s mood. ???
SOTD = Clinique Wrappings. My bottle was giving me come hither looks today, so I sprayed.
Same here with the sunset. Every minute counts!?
Yep. And, it’s nice not seeing a bunch of dark outside at 4:30!
Every. Minute. Counts! yes 🙂
Hope springs eternal, pun intended. I have noticed it’s not as dark when I get home after a walk (shortish as in < 2 miles since I can only fit in so much at my not quite end of day).
It kind of makes up for the yucky weather in this week’s forecast.
I have no Diors. Today’s scent is Bottega Veneta, which is just a huge favorite of mine.
My last semester of teaching starts tomorrow. With all the chaos that we’ve had thrown at us over the last few weeks, I cannot wait for June!
Best of luck with that final semester! ????
This morning was B&BW Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion + House of Sillage Cherry Garden Extrait de Parfum. This afternoon after I showered to get clean after work was B&BW Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion + Mancera Wild Cherry.
Cherry Garden is a tad more tart especially in the opening, Wild Cherry is more oriental and that’s the best Incan describe it. Love both dearly but if I had to choose only one then Wild Cherry wins.
Dior week is not happening for me so far! I wore Ozkan today, I really love it. It’s the only scent in the Sylvaine Delacourte range that spoke to me. Will empty my sample first…. then assess.
Caron Parfum Sacre
The only Christian Dior in my household belongs to my Dad and is the newest Sauvage I got Him for Christmas.
If I had Dior’s Sakura I would happily be wearing that this week.
My package with a 2nd Shalini arrived tonight. It is Amorem Rose and I am so excited.
