French niche line Etat Libre d’Orange has launched Frustration, a new fragrance.
Found on the 9 Rue des Archives, Etat Libre D’Orange explains that much of its inspiration comes from its location. Located on a quirky corner of Paris’ artistic and vibrant Le Marais quarter, the perfumery brand crafts eccentric and bold scents like the Frustration fragrance. A blend designed to awaken the strength of your inner child, it’s infused with cumin and cinnamon and closes on chestnut wood accord along with bourbon vetiver.
Additional notes include rhum, vanilla, ciste and vinyl gaiacol*.
Etat Libre d’Orange Frustration is available at Selfridges in the UK, £205 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

* Per The Good Scents Company, "4-Vinylguaiacol is an important constituent in distilled spirits (whiskey, rum) where it contributes to the overall sweet smoky background notes. It also contributes to the flavour of Tobacco. Used in Coffee, Chocolate, Spice, Vanilla, Tea, Whiskey, Rum, Tobacco, Roasted Peanut and Strawberry flavors."
And here’s me stuck just on bourbon vetiver.
It is not a bad place to be stuck, although I’m relatively sure I could not tell the difference between bourbon vetiver and any other vetiver (haitian, etc) blindfolded, nor do I really care 🙂
What a suitable name! This range seems to be increasingly available, but not anywhere I can get a sample.
It lends itself to many interpretations…I am frustrated by the lack of a reasonable description.
Isn’t their address 69 Rue des Archives? I remember because they have perfume named after that numeric value. Or have they moved?
Pretty sure you are right.
Have to admit that I lost interest in ELDO after they did “Like This” which I though was pretty meh. Gilda Swinton notwithstanding. Maybe I should sniff this. But the prices have certainly gone up.
Tilda. Tilda!! Blast spell check.
Ha, whereas I found that one of their few decent efforts! But at any rate, I find the percentage of their fragrances that appeal to me is pretty small.
Awaken the strength of my inner child? Pretty sure she just wants a nap. Interesting research on 4-Vinylguaiacol.
um, yeah… a top note of cumin means would at least rate pg-13, methinks
Just the other day I had Tom of Finland on one forearm, and Byredo’s Pulp on the other, cos I was in the mood for a fruity-suede aura!
