It’s Hump Day, Pan American Day and Dolphin Day. Happy 89th to Loretta Lynn! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Comme des Garçons Ouarzazate, because pyramus wore it yesterday.
Reminder: 4/16 will be Spring clean! Wear the perfect fragrance for doing household chores. Suggested by LisaD.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning Y’all,
Wearing a new-to-me work scent this morning: English Laundry Oxford Bleu Femme. MEH. Found an English Laundry discovery set for cheap yesterday and this one is just ok…
Never heard of the brand. Worth exploring would you say?
If you like fresh florals, and soapy/musky/florals, I would definitely recommend! These are great for work or outdoors….The discovery set has 4 scents, 20ml each, for $20. Their signature fragrance (pink bottle) is way cloyingly sweet on me so I passed that on to a coworker today!
In Comme des Garcons Jaisalmer.
Busy day with work. Coming back later to read comments.
Happy Wednesday! ☕
We are cousins
Hope that you are relaxing now after your busy day.
Thank you, Jalapeno! I am glad the day is over. It was a busy, but at least a very productive day!
I’m wearing Ginger Piccante. I bought a full bottle, because of so many positive comments. It would fit the CP too, because I could see it being worn for spring cleaning. Not that I clean.
That cracked me up. I also don’t clean. Which would be ok if someone else in the house cleaned…
Testing Chanel RdC 31 for the very first time and very happy with it!
Also proud as punch about my steadily growing parsley plants ?that I sowed 2 weeks ago!
Congratulations on your plants! I have parsley too but I bought it as a little seedling and didn’t start it from scratch. Recently I saw a recipe that included fried parsley and was intrigued about what that would be like.
Fried parsley is *amazing*! You must give it a go. Have to be careful to end up with a crispy and not burnt parsley, but it’s delicious. ?
OK, wow, I will!
Morning all, my SOTD is Fresh Cucumber Baie, something light and fresh for today’s warm weather.
I’m dropping off the car at the shop and brought a book to keep me entertained while they are working on it.
are you going to the car shop with that hunk of a man?
Enjoy the warm weather, today is also warm and I did some retail therapy all morning.
Oh yeah, I need to visit again as he didn’t have the part, boo, soooo sad for me…. ? ?
Yeah, he’s pretty darn cute.
My car would break down all the time if he was my mechanic, but that could get expensive hahaha
Well, I don’t want to jinx anything, but my car is getting older…
Retail therapy? Anything good? Tea or perfumes?
spring coats and a bag, 1 pair of sandals and 2 pairs ballet flats. It was a sample sale so everything was 50 bucks except the jacket
Wow! That’s quite a triumph. Enjoy!
Wow, high five!
Nice haul! That sounds like loads of fun.
Hi ST – hope you are feeling better by now!
Hi SP! Yes, feeling much better!
A third day in a row in Jicky — what astonishing monogamy for one of Us. Also a third full night of sleep in a row, which for this chronic insomniac feels like a gift from the heavens. Heading out for a day of low-key botanizing with someone who’s an incredible expert in the local flora and looking forward to the fresh air and flowers and all the knowledge I’ll be able to soak up. Other than a very sore arm, not feeling any ill effects from yesterday’s vaccination!
Wow, how lovely on all counts!
Jicky and botany sound like heaven.
Maybe Jicky is helping you sleep?
It is raining so heavily today and its dark and gloomy, so I am again in Terracotta for that little bit of liquid sunshine. Drinking rooibos tea with a swirl of honey.
Nice. And hey, that’s a good housework fragrance come to think of it.
Wearing Mitsouko this morning, waiting on spring to properly arrive since we still have ice on the ground. I have a new office at work though, and may actually get some art for the walls.
Wow, ice! That is just wrong.
Shopping for new art sounds fun though.
Still have ice here too It’s melting fast though.
SOTD is Terrasse a St-Germain from Jul et Mad.
I’m doing my spring cleaning outdoors this week — endless weeding. So no scent for me, since I don’t want to attract the bees which are swarming my rosemary and ceanothus plants. So it’s only evening perfume this week — EL Jasmine White Moss last night, CdG Wisteria Hysteria the night before. Tonight, perhaps Vilhelm A Lilac A Day.
Saw a cow killer wasp (bright bright red fuzzy!) on my walk the other day. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutillidae
wow..hope that wasp kept it’s 6 feet social distance!
Yes I will stay far away from them! Fortunately they don’t fly so it’s pretty easy to out-run them
Spring cleaning? What’s that?!
Blessed with a husband that keeps this ship in order & clean or we would be in trouble. But I do dishes
SOTD: Mandarine Basilic
Dishes are key.
And you smell great!
no 19 Poudre
Did some retail therapy shopping at a sample sale with a girlfriend. Last night I cooked some recipes from a Afghan cookbook called Parwana and I am about to eat the leftovers.
Oh and I am trying a new tea from that company. Will report back!
my tea today is “Low Country”
a black tea with bourbon and burnt sugar notes. From the website:
black tea, taiwanese lapsang souchoung black tea, barley malt, flavoring
TASTES LIKE: burnt sugar, buckwheat, chicory, bourbon
FEELS LIKE: the forward familiarity of the south
That sounds tasty! And sounds like it would work with or without milk
Jealous of your sample sale trip! Did you get a lot of good stuff?
Yes, it was Francis Valentine and I got 3 pairs of shoes, a bag, and a jacket. Today was the last day and when I went this morning I was the only one there. Guess I am in the know!
If you want to live vicariously –
This is the coat :https://images.app.goo.gl/SrFrDbqm1vewcQ529
Here is one pair of the shoes I got
and this bag is similar but not exact
Wow! Nice haul!
Love the coat!
We have the Parwana cookbook, too — our daughter lives in Adelaide and it is her favorite restaurant. So far everything we’ve made from it has been spectacular — like toe-curlingly delicious. I am thinking of requesting a Parwana meal for our anniversary dinner later this month.
I started to read the history in Parwana and found my eyes watering and not from chopping onions….what a life!
Chypre Azural (again, I’m probably getting the name a little wrong) by Les Indomendables. Wrote this off the first time I spritzed it, but then liked the dry down. It’s a bit sporty fresh for me but today, the green citrus opening is nice and I feel the sporty part less.
I’m taking a day off from studying/working to run errands (very fragrant dog needs to be groomed, Costco is calling me, plus the long delayed bathroom remodel will start Monday and I am pretty much not ready).
Yeek! Good luck with that remodeling project!
Courreges Empreinte, because I love chypres in springtime. Today was classic April weather, sun, rain and snow, all mixed.
I really should do some cleaning, but I still procrastinate….
I cleaned a bit before Easter, but have not mustered much interest since
Woke up in no 5 edp today and did a couple little cleaning projects before work. When I get home, I will do a couple more. Just less stuff I gotta do and more time relaxing this weekend. Still in no 5 today. The mini travel set has really grown on me. I do really like the current version of no 5 edp.
Good for you for getting stuff done, Dawn!
I reached for VCA Bois d’Iris today, and it’s hitting the spot. Once, I considered it “signature scent” material, which seems laughable to me now since I’m always hopping around.
Spring cleaning would be a great idea. Working on just regular old cleaning first!
You smell gorgeous. Love that scent – wonder why I don’t have a bottle??
Sampling DSH Drama Queen today but so far it isn’t quite doing it for me. Will probably be wearing something else for my first shot tonight at Gillette stadium
I recently tried Iris Tuxedo by DSH and really enjoyed it.
Vanille-Tonka is a better choice for me today. It’s always so annoying to get the fragrance choice wrong
So true! It’s the sensation I get when my hairdresser parts my hair on the wrong side. It’s just wrong. ?
Congratulations on the first shot!
Yay for shot #1! Hope that your side effects are minimal.
You smell great Robin.
I went with Rose de Siwa today because it is my favorite spring rose fragrance.
Happy hump day all!
Such a pretty rose perfume! ???
SOTD is BDK Wood Jasmin. Confusing name, as it’s a balsamic-amber with a fruity top note…I guess there’s jasmine in there too, but it’s more supporting to my nose. I guess I don’t mind the misnomer because I’m enjoying the fragrance.
Getting back into reading for pleasure after a long quarantine of zoning out in front of the TV instead. I’ve read 4 new books in the last month so I’m pretty happy with that. Less screen time!
Oh good! Spring reading poll coming up in a few weeks
SL Bois de Violette today. I may get two more wearings out of my decant. I freakin’ love this one. I think I did not love it at first (though I never did not like it), but now am thinking it will have to go on my buy list.
Perhaps I should try cleaning the house while wearing this; I smell so fine and fancy that the dust and dirt should simply disappear from my presence.
You smell lovely!
Sampling Nishane Ani and Cra-yon Vanilla CEO today…or what I call…important vanilla work! ♥️
I think I’ve embarked on a beachy quest 2021. I’m applying what I’ve learned from your vanilla quest 2018 and beyond!
Yay for your beach quest!
Random comment, but I saw this yesterday and thought of you.
You may already know this, but Sephora carries some Heretic scents and has travel sprays instead of roller balls. They have Dirty Vanilla, and it’s currently on sale thanks to VIB.
Another nice autumn day here, so I’m still wearing summer dresses, albeit with a warm jacket for the morning chill. Fort and Manle’s Suleyman le Magnifique is my choice for today.
And not yet warm enough here for a summer dress, even with a jacket!
In MFK Aqua Celestia and enjoying some peanut butter toast … and got a smudge of peanut butter on my ipad. Oops. ? ?? (Can’t seem to find the right emojis for this situation) ?
What would be the right emojis for that? ? I’m coming up with nothing!
I was kinda hoping for a spray bottle and maybe a towel? ?
I keep looking for a raspberry (fruit) emoji. Still no luck.
Testing CBIHP Wild Hunt. Not all that impressed with this one. Put on at least 1/2 the tester vial and still can barely smell it. What I do get is wet dirt, garden mint, and aloe. Definitely prefer their Black March over this one.
I did some damage this week with the Sephora sale, among other purchases. We are barely into this quarter and I already have a decent list of confessions for Donatella (but no where near a Scoob confession).
You might as well tell us now! Lol
I liked Black March better too, in fact it’s still my favorite CBIHP scent, although Memory of Kindness is a close 2nd.
Started the day with Atelier Pacific Lime. Enjoyable while it lasts, but not especially unique. It has long since faded away, so I’m pondering my options. Fils de Dieu may be asking for some love.
Since both those perfumes have lime in them, that should be a great followup.
1) Tis a beautiful, sunny day here in Portland- chilly in the morning, but pleasantly warm now.
2) Am wearing a combo of Wonderland Peony and Neon Rose from Floral Street. I smell really great, if I do say so myself.
And you smell really great at a decent price! I need to try those.
SOTD = Ellis Brooklyn Bee
Good office scent, nothing special. It is lightly spicy, musky, honey vanilla. I got the travel spray from my Sephora order. The atomizer is a cute orange.
I couldn’t stand my hair anymore! Gravity usually takes care of my hair several hours after I wake up but only if it’s humid out. I made an appointment for this coming Monday. I was originally going to wait until 2 weeks after vaccination so next Saturday would have been perfect but after trying several dates, the next available date would have been middle of May, so I am biting the bullet. She’ll definitely need to chop off 4-5 inches and trim my bangs (I had to cut it myself again last week as they were getting unruly). First world problems. Le sigh…
That haircut is gonna feel so good! Enjoy!?
Thank you. I am looking forward to it!
Congrats on that haircut appointment!
Thank you. I can’t wait!
4-5 inches! I cut 4 off of mine. Your hair must grow really fast!
Also, after sampling Bee myself, I was sure you would really like it. I thought it was very sweet.
I like it but I don’t love it.
My hair actually grows pretty fast. I considered growing it so I can donate it to Locks of Love but I couldn’t wait to have my hair cut now.
Here’s a bit of perfumista humor for a Hump Day afternoon: https://www.gocomics.com/geech/2019/08/26
I’ll be going radio silent for a few days. Got some Stuff to take care of in the non-perfumed world. I should be back on Sunday or Monday. Be safe, and be well, NST!
SOTD = L’Eau de Chloe EdT again. Maybe I should have called this the Scent of the Week?
Be safe and well Jalapeno!
Thanks! I’ll do my best. ?
Be well jalapeno! Thanks for the laugh?
Glad you enjoyed it!
Be well. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible.
Be well, Jalapeno! See you soon!
Good luck Jalapeno and thanks for the laugh!
Good luck with Getting Stuff Done, Jalapeno!
Casmir, which I think of as a fall or winter scent but today is dreary and cool so why not? Back in the day I wore it year round. Didn’t matter if it was 80 and humid, I loved Casmir. Still do. It’s in my top 5 for sure.
Happy Hump day!
Weather is gross here too. You’re smelling great though!
Thanks! Yeah, I talked to my son yesterday and he told me I was gonna have cloudy weather all week. I was like how do you know my weather, you’re a thousand miles away!? I hope he’s wrong and the sun comes out tomorrow.? Or at least for the weekend.
Aww… he probably keeps an eye out for his hometown weather.
Probably. I wish he’d just come home and see it for himself.??
I used to wear Casmir year round when I first got it, too. Now it’s strictly a cold-weather scent.
I’m wearing Agonist Arctic Jade today. When I tried to think of “clean” scents, this came to mind, perhaps because of the Swedish association with snow and ice. I like many of this line’s scents but they often get very very negative reviews, especially this one–sugary candy or marshmallows or children’s mint toothpaste. I agree the scent is sweet but it’s got tang to it too (orange) and some rich patchouli and vivid florals. I think the freesia is a definite player here and suspect it’s a fragrance that just puts some people off, something you can quickly get too much of. To me, the combination of these elements with the vanilla and raspberry makes it a delightful and uplifting scent. I don’t wear it very often but feel happy when I do.
In other news, I got my first mani-pedi today in more than a year. Hurray! It was such a treat.
You smell lovely! I boight Arctic Jade when it was half off at Neiman Marcus, unsniffed, and I quite like it, it’s unusual but fun.
That mani-pedi sounds great!
Enjoying PM Fragrances French Cuffs today which is a lovely lemon verbena, slightly smoky cedar. I am really attempting to keep all sample purchases to independent perfumers. Some of the highest quality, most affordable and interesting perfumes are coming from these little companies where one artist is doing it all, IMHO.
And love that name, French Cuffs!
Wearing Mademoiselle Guerlain today, enjoying the warm spring weather. Went outside in sandals and a tshirt. (and pants too, have no fear)
?for spring and pants!????
Given certain pandemic “fashion” it’s a good thing that you mentioned pants!
Feeling a little under the weather today. So far just my usual yucky. I think I’m just worn out. I’ve been looking around for new to me stand up comedy bits, and found Dry Bar Comedy on YouTube. I’m recommending the channel, not all the comics, but I’ve found a few that kept me laughing.
Today I am wearing and thunking Carnal Flower. It’s never been my favorite and I’m actually relieved for the thunk, since I can now stop trying to make it a favorite.
Sorry you’re feeling yucky lillyjo.☹️ This weather doesn’t help.
Carnal Flower is coming up on my list of perfumes. I don’t like bwf’s generally speaking but I do like CF. You smell nice.
I like CF, I just feel like I’m not getting what other people get with it. I get too much menthol on my skin.
Hope you will feel better tomorrow, glad you had some laughs. I don’t care for CF, too much of a tuberose.
Yeah, it is pretty big. Sometimes I spray it on my fake flowers, and I enjoy it better. Lol.
Yay for that perfume thunk! Now you can pursue something you enjoy. Hope that you are feeling better tomorrow.
Hope you have a better day tomorrow, Lillyjo! Sending sunshine to cheer you up! ???
Thanks! I’m hoping to see the sun by Friday ?
Sorry for your weariness; hope you feel better soon.
I hope you feel better tomorrow!
Hooray for the thunk! I hope you feel better soon.
I’ve been absent a lot lately because work has been nuts. I hope everyone is doing as well as possible! I wore Dame Perfume’s Monsoon today. It’s just awesome. I’m glad the bottle is so big because I really would be sad to run out.
My no buy is doing really well – I didn’t buy any kind of perfumed products at the Sephora sale. And I’ve thunked 3 travel sprays. There’s still almost 100 bottles to go, LOl.
Good for you; all thunks count! Hope work loses its nuttiness soon.
Wow! What travel sprays did you go through?
Any kind of thunk is a good thunk! I’ve been able do that to samples and the occasional decant but have yet to accomplish it with a travel spray.
After physical therapy, I put on a little Nirmala. Its fruity-cheerfulness did not inspire full-on house cleaning, but it did get me through a couple of loads of laundry. I’m content with that.
Doing laundry is very satisfying.
Hopefully your PT is going well!
Ha! I normally only do laundry on weekends but I was 2 towels short for a full load so I did one yesterday.
Hope your PT was productive!
