It's Monday and World Piano Day. Birthdays: Pearl Bailey, Astrud Gilberto, Eric Idle. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm reliving the weekend with Arielle Shoshana Saturday.
Reminder: 4/2 is International Children’s Book Day. Name a favorite children's book and wear a fragrance to match.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello all!
I’m wearing 100% Love today. Kind of a controversial one, right? I don’t live the opening, but the base is so lovely and interesting, especially on my collar. I noticed the S-Perfume had everything on sale or were already sold out. There’s an obvious conclusion to draw here but I don’t have anything more solid to report.
Last night I wore a sample of Freckled and Beautiful and… it smells like queso. I kept waiting for it to change and it did not. It wasn’t unpleasant but I’m curious why I smelled it so distinctly. I’m going to try it on paper later.
Stay safe everyone.
Oh, that’s the chocolate rose that Sophia Grojsman did, right? I never tried it, but she’s so good with roses. I bet you smell great.
I love it but a lot of people really hated it. It is quite unusual to me.
I thought it was wonderful, although they changed it at least twice and can’t remember which one I loved.
Yes it’s all very confusing. And apparently Rose Rebelle Respawn is related…?
Queso as a dip? The best. Queso as perfume? ?
I’m so curious. I’ll try it again soon.
I got buttered popcorn and flowers from Freckled and Beautiful…it improved somewhat as work/in the drydown but wasn’t a fan.
I could smell some flowers around the edges but it really was cheesy. Not unpleasant necessarily….
As it worn/in the drydown that is.
For F&B, I got corn tortilla first 5 times I wore it. 6th time it mellowed into wonderful, chewy neroli. Now I crave it!
Anyone interested in a split, lemme know. (But this one should probably not be bought blind–per the noted queso!!)
I get corn tortilla from Seville au L’aube so I can see that. Very unusual.
Celebrating another trip around the sun today..
For my special day I am sampling Baccarat Rouge 540
Happy birthday!

Happy birthday, are you enjoying Baccarat Rouge?
It’s beautiful!!! I am enjoying this scent
What do you think?
Never tried it. I’m not Kurkdjians biggest fan but I love his creations for MCDI. I’ve tried a few of the things hè had fon for MFK and kind of likes most of them, but none of them have really swept me off my feet
Happy birthday to you!! May your day be beautiful!
More birthday wishes to you!! Hope it is a wonderful day.
Happy birthday!!

Happy Scented Birthday, and congratulations to surviving another trip around our Day Star! ?????
Thanks all!
Happy Birthday! I hope the dinner out was splendid!
Today I grabbed Jardins de Bagatelle from my mini box. Perfect for spring.
I really like this one until the drydown, but the heart really is the beauty of spring.
Continuing my incense week. Yesterday, I wore Liquides Imaginaires Sancti.
Today I am in Tauer Incense Rose.
Coffee with some drops of
caraway extract and a veggie samosa. Now back to my desk.
Happy Monday, everyone! ?
Took me a minute to realize that coffee with caraway and a samosa is not a description of Incense Rose, but of your breakfast (which sounds delicious). Clearly, I have some Monday morning cobwebs 🙂
After reading my post, I realized it was confusing. I was supposed to clarify that I was drinking coffee. It looks like I am also having Monday morning cobwebs! ?
I think this is my favorite Tauer…..you smell amazing and will for a very long time!!
Thank you, Jepster! Incense Rose is also one of my favorite Tauer. Beautiful and long lasting!
Yum, samosas, plus you do smell great!!
Thank you, Robin! ?
Tauer’s Incense Rose is one of the few perfumes that has transported me to another place and time.
I also have very few perfumes that bring fond memories of past times. I treasure them deeply.
In a couple of drops of eighties-ish Grès Cabochard, which has been oh so slowly evaporating a molecule or two at a time and is now oily and a bit thick, the top notes mostly gone, but it still smells *so good*, leather and oakmoss and dark, sepulchral flowers. Sorry for the cliché but they really don’t make them like this any more.
Love that one – you smell amazing.
I went to my piano to say happy piano day ?
I am wearing Lush Tramp body spray for the CP. This oakmoss-patchouli fragrance smells like an old dark, damp forest, so I am pairing it with JRR Tolkien’s Hobbit. With Mirkwood forest, to be more specific.
Man, I miss Tramp shower gel. That was amazing stuff. You smell great!
I miss it too ?
I’m working through samples these days. Today it’s Une Amourette, which has a camphor note that is just lovely.
On spring break, so I’m celebrating by getting an oil change and tire rotation. Woo hoo.
I spent every spring break since I started teaching in 2006 visiting my family in Calgary.. The streak was broken last year and this year – fingers and toes are all crossed super tight that I can be there next year. I’d love to see my family again.
I will cross all my fingers and toes for you too, sistine.??Family is everything.☺️
Enjoy your spring break, and let’s hope we are all with family very soon!
Hoping the border reopens very soon!
SOTD is Tam Dao. I tried Gypsy Water and Tocca’s Colette over the weekend. I want a full bottle of something in this creamy sandalwood family. Colette came off as linear and muddled (as oppose to well blended), so that’s out. (I wish I could find a Tocca scent that I love as much as their bottles.) I really liked the lemon cream note in GW, so that may be the determining factor, but it will be a tough choice because TD is gorgeous.
Tam Dao is gorgeous, you smell great! I have full bottles of TD and 10 Corso Como because I just couldn’t choose between the two.
I am pretending that 10CC is in a different category of sandalwood (rich/oily/wet) so that I can justify a fb of that one too. 🙂
sigh. We have an expensive hobby.
Hey, it *is* in a different category! No pretending necessary!
Once Covid is over, I need to invite you over for tea so that you can explain this to Mr. Vee. I have made him smell everything I try for years, and so far “everything smells the same”. Except for Le Participe Passé, which apparently smells like maple syrup.
🙂
I’m in Over the Musk. I think I have one more wearing in my decant.
The sun is out today, which is good because I need some motivation for everything I have to get done today! Back to the salt mines tomorrow.
The libraries here may open to the public this week! So exciting.?
I love libraries..ours are just grab and go at the moment
Sunny here too. You smell wonderful.?
Bright and sunny here as well! ???
Forgive me Donnatella for I have sinned. I was thinking of ordering no 5 eau Premiere but found a bottle of Lyric that was a super good price. Wore Eau Premiere yesterday and decided against the travel spray. In Tigress Musk right now but switching to Lyric after my shower.
Lyric….who can resist?!?
I couldn’t resist the $170 USD for a 100ml bottle.
Nice job!
Wow! ?
Good morning Y’all,
Coming on a bit too strong in the office in Kim Kardashian Pure Honey. Oversprayed a bit and I smell like Winnie the Pooh’s honey pot….lol Maybe it will fade a bit as the day wears on….. 🙂 I do like this one though!
Good idea for Friday and the CP!
Sounds like the Perfume Grinch is not around! ?
He’s around, but luckily for him I’m chained to my computer doing chart reviews so not interacting too much! LOL
Now 5 hours in, and it’s a nice skin scent!
I hope the rest of the week passes as fast as Monday passed for me.
It should! And then it’ll be a little Easter break 🙂
SOTD is Olfactive Studio Violet Shot.
I love this one a lot!
Twins we are indeed
Trying two more from Maison Tahité from a generous NSTer today: Floranilla and Vanextasy.
Feeling stressed as I am updating a big report for work this week and am supposed to take PTO Weds-Fri.?
Also worried b/c the kittens knocked over this scratching pedestal that had a ball hanging from it over night and chewed off the dangling ball toy. I think Greta may have eaten the string. 🙁 must watch her very closely for the few days.
And also feeling happy as my brother from SF is visiting this week! The rollercoaster of emotions that is life…?
Good luck with your report.
Wow, it’s great to have your brother visiting!
Kittens will be kittens but I hope the string got swept under the rug somewhere.
Work sounds really stressful! Good luck!
My beloved kitty ate a string years ago. We were advised to bring her in immediately for an x-ray or some test (forgive my memory). . Feel better, Greta!
Have fun with your brother. Good stuff.
You might want to give your vet a call about Greta’s possible string eating and see what he/she has to say.
I’m repeating my Perris Monte Carlo Tubereuse Absolue. It’s growing on me.
House twins in Perris Monte Carlo Mimosa Tanneron from a sample.
Reminds me very much of Une Fleur de Cassie, but tamer.
Also have a sample of PMC’s Cacao Azteque that I’ve yet to try. Disappointed I was unable to find a sample of the Tubereuse.
Ridiculously windy here today. Echoing another poster above, I found out that a library in a neighboring town is open for browsing, all 3 floors, no restrictions, except the usual, and no time limit. I plan on visiting sometime this week and reveling in book-surrounded solitude. Can’t wait.
Perfumes past 3 days:
Saturday – Daim Blond
Sunday – Dame’s Desert Rose (I used 3 (!) sample vials, it was
awesome!)
Today: Most likely Do Son. I have samples of both the EdP and EdT,
and will decide which one I want to do.
Happy Monday!
Windy and cold here too, was surprised we didn’t lose power this morning.
Our library has been open for some time, but will also do curbside pickup — I love that you can do either.
Today I am wearing L’Artisan Bucoliques de Provence and currently drinking my second cup of Taiwan Oolong tea.
Ah, Bucoliques, so lovely.
I had insomnia last night and caught up with reading the weekend post! I know I shouldn’t get on my phone when I can’t sleep, but I can’t help myself.
Inspire by the post of new Tom Ford fragrances today, I’m going to dig out my sample Vert Boheme. I remember liking it, think it’s the one that smells like Cristalle, which is never a bad thing!
I just read that it smells like Cristalle.
Report back if you can on your thoughts.
My assessment so far (and not having smelled Cristalle in over a decade) is that Boheme is similar but not the same. It doesn’t have the sparkling citrus of Cristalle and that effervescence. It’s almost as if it skipped the top notes of Cristalle and the drydown is woodier than I remember Cristalle to be. I’m curious if the new eau Boheme will bring it closer to Cristalle.
I woke up at 3:14 this morning with no idea why. I was able to get back to sleep though without much trouble.
Oh, that’s good that you were able to fall back asleep, otherwise your Monday would’ve been even more of a Monday!!
I don’t think my sleep has been great since daylight savings adjustment, but I’ve never been a great sleeper.
That Vert Boheme sounds good! If you get a sniff of the new Eau Boheme, please post your thoughts. My curiosity has been piqued.
Wearing Histoires des Parfums George Sand, a soft floriental with pineapple. Temperatures are suddenly really like spring. 17°C.
Yay for spring! How is the job going?
Sunny spring weather today, so I went with Covet. Now enjoying the evening sun on the balcony.
Perfect.
Monday, a work inbox full of lurking, urgent questions about title insurance and road easements (I’m an ecologist…), rumours afoot of an upcoming transfer of my beloved preserve to another agency, a difficult conversation with a friend yesterday that actually made things worse, a continued inability to get a Covid vaccine appointment in spite of my asthma, and an upcoming birthday that will be spent alone for the first time in a decade. It had to be No. 19.
Sorry for all the stress. Recently uncovered an eBay acquired bottle of vintage No 19 edt in my stash, and it’s fab. Hope yours is helping.
What a lovely thing to uncover! Mine certainly helped — it’s magic stuff.
Oh Isabella, I do hope that your stresses ease up soon. ?
Thank you! Was just a rough entry into the work week, as they often are.
Twins with the difficult conversations. My husband and I both have family members who simply seem unable to buckle down and live within their means. If it makes you feel better…
+1
Hope better times come to you soon. Sending positive and cheerful vibes!
Thank you!
It’s a lot to deal with, hope your day will improve. You smell great.
Isabella,
May your troubles turn into happiness 100 fold.
One of our local preserved wetlands will be toast shortly. For all of the loud environmentalists in my state, no one seems to care.
I’m sorry that you will be alone. This is a place to feel not so alone.
Ugh, that’s awful about your wetland. “No net loss” unfortunately doesn’t necessarily mean “no destruction.”
Sorry to hear about your woes piling up. I hope no. 19 is bringing you some strength. Spritz more if needed! And definitely treat yourself to something nice on your birthday.
Yuk. What a Monday!
Isabella, have you checked to see if there is a facebook group that will help you get a vaccine appt? Many states have them.
If that wasn’t clear — it’s like a matchmaker site, it sets you up with a volunteer who gets you the appt, since in many states it is crazy time consuming to get an appt.
I didn’t know about those! I’m not on Facebook, but I’ll Google “worried asthmatic matchmaking site” and see what pops up. 😉 No, in all seriousness, thanks for the tip.
This is the one for PA, just so you see what I mean. The site is confusing because it both allows you to sign up for help, but also is lots of info to help the “helpers”…but I found it invaluable in getting appts for people.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/pacovidvaxhelp/
Also, this site is invaluable:
https://www.vaxxmax.com/
Isabella, I’m adding this suggestion….try going in person to the drugstores near where you live, and ask to have your name added to the “wait/waste” list, to be called at the end of the day in case they have extra vaccines due to no shows. My sister did this at some CVS’s here in Houston, and she was called later that day. Here’s the deal: they would not add her to the list over the phone, she had to show up in person. Not sure if I’ve suggested this before on this blog, but it’s worth a try. Good luck, and I hope your week settles down!
SOTD is TF Violet Blonde. One of my earliest FB acquisitions after falling down the rabbit hole, and still a favorite.
You smell lovely.
Wearing my new Nez Ambre a Levres today unrelated to the CP, but I do have an idea for the CP for Friday. I love children’s books and have kept quite a number through the years.
I have a horrible work project that I keep putting off but must. work. on. today. Argh. It’s mostly horrible because it’s very unclear so I am uncomfortable with it. I probably just need to start and maybe it will become more clear as I go.
And wanted to add that although relatively inexpensive, my Nez bottle has a very nice sprayer!
Good luck with horrible project! Hope it is not too horrible!
It’s pretty horrible, but thanks. I’ve put if off for too long and now must pay the piper.
Ok, then I just hope it is a short term horrible project.
I totally feel your work pain! Sorry you are going through it.
How is the Nez? The notes sound interesting.
I like it! It’s not my usual type, but I’m quite happy with it (blind buy!)–it’s both pretty and comfortable to wear, if that makes sense.
Ugh, sorry about the horrible work project! Hopefully it *will* become more clear, and you’ll have a clear path to success!
It’s a pretty nice day out today. I worked a half day, and now home doing chores. Sotd is Rose Jam layered with Korres rose body cream.
My Sotd reminded me of this
https://youtu.be/U1wbbrkQDss
?
?
Haha! That voice!
I had a friend back in college who’d did a great impersonation of her singing, of all things, ‘Tainted Love’…
Nowwww I knowww I’ve got to (hip swing left then right) run awaaaay… etc.
So funny!
OMG! That would be *so* awesome!
Everything Roses.
But you would smell as sweet by any other name! 😉
Yay for a half day! And you are smelling wonderful! ??
Nice rose combo!
If you like the Korres rose body butter, you should check out the Pacifica one. I’m close to thunking a tube of it.
Very busy weekend.
Wearing Volnay Etoile d’Or again.
Also the answer to my clue of what a good French Kindergartner might get. Last week’s CP.
Volnay! That is a house that really impressed me years ago wandering around the perfume counters in Bergdorfs. I don’t see the name all that often.
I’ve only tried Etoile d’Or, Brume d’Hiver and Perlerette. I would love to try Yapana and the almond one- ?Objet Celeste. My favourite from these is definitely Etoile d’Or.
Oh, such a good clue! I was stumped, but I’d never heard of this perfume.
SOTD = Ortigia Sicilia Ambra Nera EDP
Gorgeous lightly spicy dry and resinous amber. ?
It was pretty much a skin scent from the get go and my 8 sprays lasted about 6 hours – not bad overall.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CNAtTfshuQb/?igshid=suyatgdbgf13
World Piano Day – an uncle used to sell printed music and occasionally consults on which piano to get, etc. One day, he decided to provide extra service and helped to match up seller and buyer and also helped with its transport. His reward was he was arrested, by mistake. I don’t think he ever tried to be that helpful again ?.
Oh! That bottle! ?
You ain’t kidding!?
Gorgeous, isn’t it?
Mad Madame for me today, the name is always so appropriate for a crazily busy day 🙂
Hope the crazy busy part is over now, Gaynor!
One of my favorites. The only JHaG I get along with.
Tom Ford Shanghai Lily today. I really thought I’d finish off my little decant, but this perfume is nuclear strength and this little decant will probably actually last for three more wearings. Having a very sleepy Monday.
I’m in that not-so-shy violet (pear–although no pear in notes!) carnation vavavoom perfume– CdG’s Stephen Jones in the black bottle.
I hesitated this morning but was in the mood for a fruity chypre, so it’s Liz Earle No 9 which has impressive longevity for a natural perfume.
You’ve got to go with what moves you, perfume-wise.
So true.
I have to apologise for not participating much recently. I started studying again 3 weeks ago – and that together with some part-time work has left me not knowing where either my feet or my head are. I still check in regularly just to calm down and remember what counts – perfume of course! (And our wonderful perfume community) but I don’t always manage to comment – or respond to other comments – before my head hits the pillow. Love you you all though, as always!
No worries! You’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do. Be safe, and be well.
Nice to see you here! And as long as you keep track of where your middle is, you should be alright. 😉
Glad to hear from you. I always enjoy your layering ideas!
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/FfBwsG8ubFw
Commando today. I woke up with a headache, which is thankfully gone now, and feeling very Monday-ish. Bleah.
Glad your headache is gone.
I’m Always excited to click your song of the day!????
Awwww, thanks! Sometimes the Song of the Day is an indirect comment on events of the day. Sometimes it’s just something I wanted to hear.
Your song cheered me up today Jalapeno! It’s been ages since I heard that one.
Glad you liked it!
Glad to hear your headache is gone.
Thanks so much for the song of the day! Love this one, it instantly energized me. Does anyone watch Derry Girls? There’s such a hilarious scene in that show featuring this song.
Oh god, Derry Girls! I’m almost mad that I’ve already watched it because I wish I could discover it all over again.
??
niiiiiiice!!! ????
sorry about your headache, I was commando over the weekend for the same reason. Had my first migraine in what seems like a year. Hope your day got better fast.
Glad your migraine went away!
Hope you have a better day today, love the song.
SotD = Avignon
I’m relaxed in incense. ? Magic! ✨
It’s been a quiet day here. I feel like spring break has already started, but there are three more days of school to go. ?? But who’s counting? ?
You smell so amazing!
thank you, KellyC ☺️ Avignon is always a winner for me.
Yay for Spring Break and CdG Avignon!
??? It’s good to have something to look forward to!
Gosh, been crazy around the ol’ household. I was smelling good all last week but don’t think I reported in even once. I remember wearing OJ Woman, Ta’if, and L’Elephant. Don’t remember the rest. Then went to San Francisco to be tourists for the weekend and would you believe I FORGOT perfume. Like not even one single sample. My hubs let me wear his lol.
Today I am in Terracotta because it’s sunny and super warm today (yay).
Welp, big news. My hubs is getting transferred to Denver. So long, California; hello, Colorado…
Wow! Sorry you guys have to move! Do you have a timeline?
Thanks for the Terracotta reminder; I have to pull mine out.
Wow, it seems like you just moved to Cali! When is the move to Colorado happening?
That is some big news! I wish you a smooth transition! You smell wonderful!
Denver is wonderful in lots of ways ? tho I’m happy you had time to play tourist in CA! ?
Wow, this is a lot of moving! I have a soft spot for Colorado although I’ve only ever been to the Denver Airport.
You sure do move a lot! My sympathies.
Wore Le Labo Iris 39 oil today. We had quite a windstorm yesterday and again today. Looking forward to warmer temperatures later this week, fingers crossed!
Yesterday I wore 10 sprays of Chanel No. 19 Poudre; applied after my bath just before bed. I slept like a log so I may have to repeat.
Hey, if No. 19 Poudre works for better sleep, go for it!
I had crazy wind both yesterday and today as well. Glad to see it go.
If No. 19 Poudre is a soporific, I’m ordering a case!
The day flew by here and now it is dinner time and I have nothing thawed, so eggs it is. I’m wearing Roja Dove Lilac extrait.
ha! Eggs for dinner is a winner.?️?
I do that about once a month or so.
SOTD is Lush Breath of God, because I saw the travel spray in my “things I really like in small sizes” bin when looking for something else. I did not think I had a book to link it to for the CP, but then a match popped into my head: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Maybe because of the Christian themes in the book? But mainly, I think, because I get a kind of bracing mustiness (?) from BoG that evokes both sleigh rides and secret cupboards in old houses.
BoG is so good, you smell wonderful.
I like the book connection you made!
