Hump Day, Chocolate Covered Raisins Day, plus the International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Marni + Marni Rose.
Reminder: 3/26 will be Guessing Game Friday, edition 4. Describe your perfume to us, OR, give your perfume the name it ought to have had, and we'll see if we can guess what it is. Suggested by Glannys.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Marni Market Octagonal Basket in metal + pvc is $152.
Happy hump day!
Next round of the guessing game:
This perfume house packs heat.
The scent is a fresh musky cologne. Androgynous by design.
something from Le Labo?
No
Juliette Has A Gun, something.
Maybe Moscow Mule?
Not that JHAG.
Correct house!
Thierry Mugler cologne?
No, it is from Juliette Has A Gun. But it smells somewhat similar to Mugler Cologne. The same main note.
Musc? Not a perfume?
Musk too, but I was thinking of a citrus.
Not a perfume – no.
JhaG Gentlewoman?
Yes! ?
Wheee, finally got one! ?
It’s gotta be Anyway … yes?
No, sorry. Nancyleandros got it.
Gentlewoman – a musky neroli cologne.
As JHAG describes it, “intended for “dandy” women of androgynous style”.
Oh how funny – we posted at exactly the same minute. She must have been a second or two earlier. 🙂
Guessing game:
This perfume didn’t make me go to the dark side, the man “heir” behind the brand I find a bit dark, mysterious, and expected something darker, less floral from this perfume
Just finished novel Curse of Silver flames by an author I have never read before Sara Mass. I read the last book first, just because it was at the library. The book was just OK, and since I didn’t know what to expect, some “steamy” scenes in the book I felt like I needed a cold shower after. I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Something Kilian?
Yes…getting warmer… 🙂
Is it Dark Lord? Or perhaps Good Girl Gone Bad?
Ding Ding
Good Girl Gone Bad
This is very beautiful but too light in nature for a good girl to go bad! HA! I love it though! One of my favorites by him.
That was a good clue! Funny about the book!
Hmm, I thought maybe Coco Noir?
Good guess. Coco noir isn’t really noir…
Trying a decant of Tom Ford’s Bitter Peach, and I like it!
I’ve been curious about this one — is it peachy?
Yes, it is, but almost like a peach liqueur or peach schnapps, though not too sweet. It’s very intriguing!
I like it too.. different!
Love the colors in the Marni basket photo.
Someone at my last place of business used to bring in enormous milk-jug sized containers of dark chocolate-covered raisins from Costco (Kirkland) that were addictive–but haven’t had any since.
In dregs of yesterday’s sampling of Rose de Grasse. Thought the Aerins weren’t powerhouses, but can still smell it. Getting on my nerves at this point.
Once in a blue moon I buy a tub of chocolate covered raisins or almonds from Trader Joes, but best not to have them in the house 🙂
oh, same here! Once the tub of chocolate covered almonds is open, it’s all over. 😉
Their chocolate covered pretzel thins are my weakness 🙂
Have you tried TJs dark chocolate covered cherries?
Don’t.
They are more addictive than the raisins. 😯
Chocolate covered cherries are my absolute worst…cannot resist.
Um, thanks for the warning/testimonial?
Chocolate-covered raisins I find over-the-top sweet. Raisins on their own are powerfully sweet.
As for almonds, I really enjoy the salted dark chocolate-covered almonds that Starbucks puts out. The added salt is so good.
I have Costco containers of Vero Amore biscotti and peanut butter filled pretzels.
Costco is really evil. We have a huge jar of caramels covered with semi-sweet chocolate and a sprinkle of sea salt that Mr. G unwisely brought home from there the other day, and I have a really hard time keeping away from them. ?
I bought those too – yum!
I’m a fan of the yogurt covered raisins at Kroger. The coating is thick and they are so addictive.
I went for Tam Dao today.
Yum.
Today I’m in Penhaligon’s Endymion, a lavender fougère with a surprising amount of coffee in it. It’s nice, but I wouldn’t own a whole bottle (I have that Scent Library they did ages ago, the ten slim vials in the gold-coloured cigarette case, remember that?).
I do remember that! I had one and I swapped it for something I wanted more, years ago at MakeupAlley.
The scent library still exists.
Good morning Y’all,
Decided to go full on SPRING with Pacifica French Lilac. I smell like I did some light yardwork before coming to work…..not a bad thing in this case! 🙂
Not bad at all 🙂
Guessing Game: I smell like Spring water.
Drinking the last of my Fairmont Vanilla Orchid tea.
Aqua Vitae?
Good guess, but nope. I probably should have described it as a waterfall in springtime.
En Voyage A Study in Water? Ineke something?
think melons instead of citrus
Creed Silver Mountain Water?
Same era, but the fruits here are melons, not citrus
Green Irish Tweed?
No, if it has melon, it is not GIT.
Maybe Un Jardin Après La Mousson?
Or maybe Cool Water? Melon is not listed on Fragrantica, but I think it smelled melony.
Nope, not Irish but Japanese
L’Eau par Kenzo?
It is a L’eau, but not par Kenzo
L’eau d’Issey?
Ding ding ding!
This has been a fun CP. Thanks for suggesting it!
Guessing game du jour: today I’m wearing the most expensive perfume I’ve ever bought for myself. Titania lying on a bed of roses and cream and sprigs of greenery dipped in honey, eating rose-saffron kulfi while an incense burner smoulders in a nearby meadow.
Paired with — you guessed it — a hard hat! Off to do a post-fire ecological assessment on a beautiful property where I hope to send my son for summer camp this year.
A Bond?
Not a Bond.
Is it Mohur?
No, but somewhat similar! Mohur is a bit sharper; what I’m wearing is creamier, and Grander somehow…
Your description is really selling it, whatever it is.
Is it MFK Absolue Pour le Soir or Cologne Pour le Soir?
No, but now I’m thinking I need to give those a sniff!
That description…
I wish I didn’t finish all my Persian desserts from over the weekend! Craving rose water anything…
I just want that perfume! I don’t have a better guess than Mohur. Unless maybe Taif? But no incense in that one, I think.
Titania also has some cardamom sticky buns in her picnic basket…
I would say Songe d’un Bois d’Ete, but I don’t think it has rose…
Great description by the way.
Having polished off her sweet treats, Titania wipes her sticky hands on her red silk dress and stands on a promentory, singing, with her arms flung wide and her hair loose and luscious. Clouds made of vanilla-rose whipped cream sail overhead…
Wow, this is sounding more and more spectacular!
Seriously, why don’t I own this perfume?
Isabella, adding that if nobody guesses this by midnight, please come back and tell us what it is!
Will do! I’m starting to wonder if I’ve described it poorly — it’s so obvious to me! 🙂
I want what she’s having!
Narjesi?
Nope. Had to look that one up, and it sounds lovely!
Admittedly, so did I! I used the “search by notes” feature on Fragrantica for that guess because your clues made your scent sound like heaven and I was eager to figure it out. Alas, I have never smelled Narjesi, but it does sound lovely, doesn’t it?
Well, there’s Mon Nom est Rouge, but it does not quite fit that idyllic picture…
It’s not that one.
Amouage Lyric Woman?
My lords and ladies, Glannys has guessed it!
You wear Lyric a lot better than I do!
Yay! It was a very lyric(al) description indeed.
Someone should be paying you to write ad copy. I’m just about ready to make a blind buy based on your description! 🙂
Gosh, what a vivid and imaginative description! 🙂
SotD = The Body Shop Moringa EdT
I smell like the mall, but in a nice way. 😀 I miss the mall.
A neighbor and I had a socially distanced chat outdoors yesterday. She was gardening, I was out for a walk. She said she could smell my perfume (Ambre Narguile) from six feet away! I had just one spritz on each wrist,s so we were both surprised. We theorized that perhaps she hadn’t smelled perfume on another person im so long that her nose was hypersensitive.
Later in the evening she texted and told me to look in my mailbox. She had left the little bottle of Moringa there for me, with a note saying she never wore it, and hoped I would put it to good use.
So glad it’s Wednesday-hump-day! Hope yours is a good one.
What a lovely neighbor! And I really enjoy Moringa, so I think you smell great. I’ve never used the perfume, but I like it in shower gel and body butter, both of which were TJ Maxx finds.
She is a lovely neighbor! Always smiling and up for a chat. 😀 Thanks for the positive vibe on Moringa, I’m glad you like it too. I hadn’t ever smelled it and didn’t know if it was well known or a once-and-done thing from The Body Shop. 😀
I had the Moringa Body Oil and it (perhaps strangely) reminded me of LL Lys 41.
Yes! I have a decant of Lys 41. I can smell something in common with Moringa.
I loved your comment today❤
thanks, Aurora 😀 I’m glad I went for a walk at the right time to see my neighbor.
How sweet. 🙂
She really is a sweet neighbor. Everyone loves her. 😀
What an awesome neighbor!
right? right! 😀 I feel grateful every day that my neighbors are neighborly.
What a thoughtful neighbor! I had to go and dig; I have the Moringa fresh body sorbet at Marshall’s. It’s a nice citrusy floral.
For some reason, my favorite line in Blazing Saddles is when Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman) runs into the theater toward the end and stops at the concession stand and says, “Raisinettes!” It never fails to make me laugh.
Commando for now until after I get the energy to shower. Vaccine reaction hit me just as I got into bed last night. Chills, fever, nausea…awake pretty much all night. Finally took some Tylenol at 5:30 am. Feel better but just weak, like that last day of flu or after recovering from a migraine. In the grand scheme…not too bad. Drinking a kale, peach and pineapple protein smoothie.
Hang in there! Everyone I’ve talked to said that their reaction was like a 24-hour flu — it came on quick, but then disappeared.
Thanks. Hot shower felt good. I just added some rose oil to my body lotion.
Oh dear, I’m sorry you went through that. I feel lucky I didn’t, though I was extremely tired. Hope you’ll be back to normal soon.
Ugh, I’m sorry it hit you so bad! Maybe a good time to curl up in bed and re-watch Blazing Saddles (my favorite part being any scene with Madeline Kahn in it).
Oh, Madeline Kahn – so brilliant. “A wed wose … how womantic!”
For whatever stupid reason, I think getting sick from the vaccine would feel reassuring to me.
Hope you are much better tomorrow!
Exactly! I was feeling kind of smug having no reaction after the first one, but at the same time thought a reaction was a good sign. I’m much better now…just that kind of tired one feels after fighting a migraine or something.
Blazing Saddles is a classic. My mom & I always bought Raisinettes at the movies. 🙂 Hope you feel better tomorrow!
Eeeeep! Hope that you are feeling better soon.
Good morning!
Wearing Le Parfum de Thérèse and enjoying the beginning of spring.
You smell fabulous! I wonder what it was like to have someone create a perfume for you and that someone being one of the greatest perfumers of all time!
Thank you Allo!
Wanted to thank you for the feedback on Ambre à Lèvres…wearing it today for the first time and it’s BEAUTIFUL…love it!
So glad you like it!
I need to wear Thérèse again, it has been too long. You smell wonderful and sophisticated. I highly recommend GraindeMuscs review of it.
Thanks Austenfan. I just read the review and what a love letter (as one of her readers puts it) to LPdT it is! Very much worth reading.
You smell so sophisticated! I love LPdT. For me, this review by ClaireV on basenotes says it all. It is the second review on this page.
https://www.basenotes.net/fragrancereviews/26129618/page/11
Thank you Amyitis. Lovely review!
It’s a gray and gloomy day here so I cheered myself up with quite a few spritzes of Champagne de Bois.
Nice!
I hope it’s working!
Ohhh, Champagne de Bois is so lovely!
Ooh, beautiful!
Feeling springtime with D&G Velvet Mimosa Bloom. Sipping a mug of matcha latte.
It’s nice and sunny out today so I am happy.
How is that one working out on the mimosa scale? I got a sample Amouage Love Mimosa and it’s nice enough, but not at Amouage prices.
Its a nice and gentle floral. I quite enjoy it. I got it as a gift so I happily wear it but I don’t think I am willing to pay for a bottle myself.
Forgive me Donnatella for I have sinned. I broke down and finally got a bottle of Coromandel and the bath gel of Coco Mademoiselle. Jake’s surgery cost much less than I thought it would. Jake is home and doing great. Felling better after having a really rough night. It was one of those massive stomach aches with pressure. Couldn’t get comfortable and naturally didn’t sleep. But after I fed the dogs this morning, I managed to feel comfortable enough to get some sleep. I thing it was just too much soda and pizza that did it.
I will talk to Donnatella for you..I need to brush up on my Italian forgiveness skills
You deserved your bottle, I am sure
I consider it a testament to Robin’s moral code that she hasn’t started selling Donatella indulgences here. Sounds like you deserved a treat, and I hope you and Jake both have a gentle day and enjoy a thorough return to well-being!
LOL — or my total lack of imagination and entrepreneurship!!
Dawn, so glad the surgery did not prevent you getting yourself something nice 🙂
YAY for you getting that bottle and for a less hefty-than-expected vet bill!
My SOTD is from the house that uses somewhat sun-shape emblem as their logo.
The name of the perfume is a geopolitical term used for a part of country that is outside of the country itself.
What am I wearing?
Jean Patou Colony?
Clever guess.
Amouage Ubar?
Amouage is a good guess but its a different fragrance
Amouage….
Yes… but which one?
Sunshine?
Nope. Sunshine is not a geopolitical term.
Enclave?
YAS! CORRECT!
Wearing the playful Drôle de Rose today.
We’re looking at 70+ tomorrow and sunny here in NYC! Very excited and time to find my shorts! See the crocuses have made an appearance and green buds on trees too. Come Spring!
Nice, on all counts! Enjoy!
Ah, perfect scent to wear while waiting for 70 🙂
Guessing game: I’m in a sticky orange blossom favored by many at NST. The perfumer also has a devoted NST following!
Seville a l’Aube?
That would be my guess as well
Mine too.
You got it!
Something by Andy Tauer ?
Serge Lutens Fleur d’Oranger?
Trying Ambre à Lèvres today and it is gorgeous…bought it blind from LS (no affiliation). Mostly floral w/ some musk so far…but the initial powdery violet is divine.
I have a small litany of woes that I will condense for the audience 😉 …a tough morning giving Greta the kitten a bath b/c Hans the kitten had loose stool due to an antibiotic shot I believe.
Also got a request from my grandboss to update a big report for work by 4/1 that’s going to take a ton of time so I have to give away my attendance at a virtual conference I was supposed to attend next Mon and Tues to another coworker in order to work on it. And my brother from SF is coming to visit so I want to get it done ASAP but it hasn’t been updated in a long time so I am going to need to remember how I did it. ehaeh 😉
Ugh. Thankfully I smell great! 🙂
Maybe the litany was too condensed ehaeheh 😉 To be clear, I think Hans used Greta’s preferred litter box and she got caught up in his trouble so to speak. 🙁
Oh no, hahahaha. I was totally picturing one kitty pooping on another!!
I feel your pain with the report updates. I have been there many times. It takes a lot of focus to update something that hasn’t been touched in years, and trying to decipher your old notes to self!
Someday that will happen too I don’t doubt. 😉
Tulipani wasn’t the only one thinking that. Poor kittehs.
I feel you. I was up at 3:30am bathing a poopy dog butt.
So glad you like the Ambre à Lèvres. I remember you saying you were curious about it.
It’s excellent which is a word I don’t throw around lightly for new fragrances in recent years 😉 …I looked up the nose to see what else she has done too!
https://www.fragrantica.com/noses/Mathilde_Bijaoui.html
Sadly Fragrantica doesn’t have have it in the database yet so I can’t post a fan girl review.
Her BDK Gris Charnel sounds interesting…
It’s very nice!
She did a nice job on Myrrh & Tonka. But actually, I just want her hair.
Me too! She is beautiful and her hair is amazing.
Good Morning everyone, my SOTD is a spring time favorite, Niki de st Phalle extrait.
Very late start, submitted my class project and despite going to bed at 9:30, slept until 8:30, I must have needed it!
Enjoying a cup of coffee, might have another…
You smell wonderful!
Is it very different to the Eau Defendu?
Hi Tannina, I’ve never heard of Eau Defendu, who is the perfumer?
It’s a variation of Niki de Saint Phalle, but more of a EdP strength.
Oh, now I might need to find a decant…
Wow, jealous of that serious sleep! Congrats on finishing your project.
Thanks! Two classes and I’m done!
I’m wearing a perfume that was confusingly given a very similar name to another perfume from the same brand. Perfume folks, especially at NST, have taken to also describing the bottle of the version they’re wearing. In that vein, I’m wearing the clear bottle brown juice. ?
Also, a pox on the time change. I’m ready for my body to adapt to it. I don’t have any problem getting to sleep at night, but my internal clock still does not understand when it’s time to wake up. My alarm keeps going off while I’m in the middle of a dream, which means I’ve been super groggy. Argh…
One of the Narcisos? Maybe For Her Musc Eau de Parfum Intense?
No, but nice try!
I can add that this perfume was discontinued.
It’s the Gucci perfume?
Yes, you got it! I love this perfume so much.
Is it Gucci?
Correct!
In the usual Bulgari Blue Tea. My sample selection has increased again, due to meeting a perfume pal and ordering some samples and a bottle, which garnered me even more samples. So far the winner is Byredo Black Saffron, and happily, I am meeting another perfume pal this weekend as goodness, the sample pack did not work out.
How samples reproduce 🙂
S
Guess SOTD:
The Nose Took This One Back
Bat/Night Flyer?
Got. It in one guess
Guessing game: I’m in a big floral with a woman’s name. Some say it’s a shell of its former self, but this is my first time trying it, so what do I know?
I’m off work today since I’m working Saturday, so I’m drinking tea, lounging on the couch with the TV on mute, and my favorite websites open on my laptop :).
Joy de Jean Patou?
That’s my guess too.
Correct!
Ding ding ding!
Joy is a better guess, but since it is taken, I’ll go with Chloe?
No, but good guess!
Inspired by the several crates I brought to the used book store in order to purge before my move, I resolved earlier this week to start reading for pleasure again, which I’ve fallen off of for an embarrassingly long time in favor of doomscrolling through Twitter/the news or zoning out in front of some trashy reality TV. I think scrolling through my phone before bed is hurting my sleep. Got a series of plane and ferry rides coming up so I’ll really have no excuse.
My SOTD is something feminine, soft and sweet, based on an Eastern treat.
Are you wearing Traversee du Bosphore?
And yay for starting to read for pleasure again!
On the right track, but that’s not it!
How about Rahat Loukhoum or Keiko Mecheri Loukhoum?
You win!! It’s the Keiko Mecheri 🙂
Taif?
I’m wearing a perfume with a name consisting of three words.
The first two words are usually combined with the name of another country than the one referred to in my SOTD.
Eau d’Italie or Fleur de Comores? Not very good guesses, probably.
No, I’m sorry to say. If you combine the last two words of my perfume with another often used word in perfume namens you het a (discontinued) fragrance by another perfume house that is run by a man whose
primary interest is not perfume.
Sorry for all the typos I hate typing on my phone.
Oh, and totally unrelated to this riddle, I love Fleur des Comores.
Stumped!
I like this CP!
SOTD guess: I’m sure French kindergartners get one of these if they’re good?
Bonbon?
Baiser?
Bonpoint?
Guessing game:
I smell like very sweet almonds. A famous perfume critic/writer called this scent “boring beans”. I’m so enjoying the CP this week.
It’s my birthday today. I’m still undecided about what I want to do, but one thing’s for sure, I’m off to the bakery this afternoon with my son to get some cake!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday! I’m a terrible guesser today and avoid almond scents, but I’m sure you smell fabulous and hope you have a great day!
Happy Birthday!
Fève Délicieuse, perhaps?
You got it! Yay!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Jour de Fete?
Also, happy birthday!!
Ooh, that’s a good guess, but incorrect!
I loved your scent description again today, you write beautifully.
Many happy returns.
Happy birthday – may the year bring only blessings!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday! I have no idea of the scent, but I hope it’s making your day!
Happy birthday!
Happy Scented Birthday! ????✨
Happy birthday tulipani! Hope you find something wonderful at the bakery.
You smell great! Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!?
Happy birthday!
I’m in a scent that I think one other person is in, a classic that apparently didn’t stand the test of time (got completely reformulated into another scent, I think?). The name of the perfume can be a person’s name, but to me, the emotion comes to mind first.
Patou Joy?
You got it! I’m starting to like the drydown! Reminds of No.5 and Dia.
Hey twin!
Guess:
The name of an animal that’s funny looking but makes a gorgeous coat. Tip: NOT a Zoologist perfume
M/ink?
Excellent guess but no.
Chinchilla?
Love this perfume! Wore it on the weekend.
Yes!! It’s been a while since I’ve worn it and it smells gorgeous 🙂
Guerlain L’Heure de Nuit
Waving hello even though I have never smelled your sotd 🙂
You smell wonderful!
Post and run, back to read later: Fzotic Feu Secret.
Oh, I almost wore that today, but cluing it seemed too easy. 🙂
Yeah, that’s why I just left it at that. Too easy! 🙂
The name of my perfume today is that of a famous street in a major European city. My juice is green, but many of my notes are purple flowers.
I have no idea what Champs Elysee smells like, but it is a street in a famous city?
Guerlain Promenade des Anglais? (I have a decant from you!)
Oui!!!
I saw this and said to my son “quick name a famous street in Europe” he says the Auto Bahn. Lol! Also sorry if I didn’t spell it correctly.
LOL! Give your son points for trying?
There ought to be an AutoBahn perfume. Wouldn’t that be fun? (Maybe there already is one.)
I am so enjoying the creative descriptions — for me they provide a new insight into what makes these fragrances tick. What a great CP!
That is excellent—notes of neroli, rubber, and smoke?
Memoir Woman, because someone mentioned it it think on Monday. Why do I not wear that more often?
When I read through the daily poll, I am always saying to myself duh, why didn’t I wear that, over and over 🙂
I smell like I’m wearing a leather flight jacket, holding a tomato plant in one hand and a vanilla cupcake in the other.
What a funny image you’ve conjured up! I have no idea.
I just want to hear what it is once someone guesses it!
Memo Italian Leather
lucasai for the win!
I love this perfume so I knew it had to be this one 🙂
My brain can’t process how that would smell! 🙂
Tomato leaf and a vanillic leather sounds like a weird combination, for sure … but it’s great, actually.
R, Marni AND Marni Rose at the same time?! I like the double play. 🙂
They really work well together! And still bummed they never did a third scent.
Robin, there’s also Marni Spice. I remember seeing it on eBay when searching for Marni a few years back.
You are so right! Totally forgot. But that was 2015 and not a peep since then, not even another pillar, so assume none of it sold well.
I don’t think anyone would ever guess my scent. It’s another of the samples I recently got from Luckyscent. I’m doing a sort of white flower tour. This one is Intelligence & Fantasy from The Beautiful Mind Series. I don’t even know how I could have written a clue for it! It’s supposed to have a rare tiare blossom note and also hedione. All I can say is that I’ve several times had the sudden feeling that I could smell pretty flowers coming in through the window. So it’s something that kind of floats around you in the air in a pleasant way. This morning I harvested five giant mushrooms from my growing kit, and am planning to try a new recipe for chicken breasts and mushrooms tonight, cooked with some garlic and thyme, in a bit of a sauce with stock and white wine. Wish me luck!
I’m sure you’ll make something delicious.
The recipe sounds really good! I weighed my mushrooms and the biggest one weighed 2.5 ounces! The five of them together weighed over 8 ounces!
What fun, to cook your own mushrooms! Let us know how it turns out.
Sounds like your cooking mojo is alive and well! ?
This is a great CP, clever clues and even cleverer answers! I don’t think I’d have got any right.
Still on holiday, so another late start to the morning. The mornings are qiite chilly now, but the sun is shining. I’m going to take my mother to yet another fabric shop, great fun for both of us, and I think I’ll wear Nahema.
And you will smell divine.
Have fun at the fabric shop, Gaynor! I don’t even sew and that still sounds like fun.
I think Nahema will waft very well with that new fabric smell!
No guessing game today.
SOTD = Scents of Wood Vetiver in Chestnut
Nice juice and even nicer color – green! It’s a lightish citrus, green & nutty vetiver, some spice and woody. No orris that I can detect but I think if I wear 12 sprays, I may be able to detect it. Maybe I’m detecting it now, as part of the drydown? Anyway, I think this suits warmer weather so I am looking forward to wearing it more in a few months.

I knew it would not last forever — we got a general email from the chairman and all the ones one heartbeat away from him about returning to the office. Still more analysis to be done (always!), and there are more options. Previously, working from home full-time was not as accepted. I wouldn’t want to be commuting everyday anymore; 3 days in office is what I would go for if given the choice. We’ll see. I don’t think life will change quickly but it’s good to be prepared. As I mentioned before, NJ is a vaccine wasteland right now. I hope my turn comes and the only vaccine I will accept is the J&J one.
Are you doing the Sniffapalooza today? I don’t know anything about house or fragrance but I signed up! I did find the article below…I may just sign up for any/all sniffings henceforth. I do, afterall, like to sniff, assess and ultimately judge perfumes. 😉
https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Hayley-Kiyoko-is-Launching-Hue-Her-First-Fragrance-14630.html
Yes, I had no clue who she was when I signed up except she seems to be popular. Sniffapalooza posted something today on IG and someone I had swapped with made a comment about OMG, she’s her favorite. We had been working on a freebie (but she wants it to be a swap) and so it is actually good that we haven’t completed our “discussion”.
Anyway, If I can sign up quickly, I do try to for any and all unless I know it’s a total repeat. $15 is a very tiny investment IMHO.
See you!
Gorgeous peridot green for that perfume!
Isn’t it? I love green!
12 sprays!
I hope you get the work schedule that you want.
How did this oriental lover live so long without this one: it tries to jump in on the ‘mystique of the East’. Turin describes it as having a fruity opening, flat mimosa heart and a animalic/woody dry down. My first impression was that it was nice even if a bit boring and now I find it weird but addictive. Apparently one spray was once enough – if so it is highly diluted in current formulation.
Maybe Kenzo Summer?
Kasmir, so it has a ‘k’ and I think the Mimosa could lead one astray since Turin is the only one who mentions it ?
I regret not getting Kenzo Summer while it was hanging around though!
Do you mean Chopard Casmir? I cannot even be credited with the K then. ?
OMG, you are right. At least you got the spelling right! 😀
I was testing Summer today which is very pretty, now I am in Guerlain Souffle Intense.
Just had an orange after a dinner of corn flakes, not really a balanced meal I realize but couldn’t be bothered to cook this evening. Can’t wait for salad season.
Cereal for dinner isn’t the worst thing. Makes sense if you don’t have any leftovers hanging around in the fridge.
I am so sick of the relentlessness of pandemic dinners!! I never thought we ate out or got carryout that much, but we must have because I have never cooked this much in my life, seriously — cereal sounds PERFECT.
Every morning, just about, my husband and I have a conversation about what will be for dinner, and since cereal is not an option for him (it would be fine for me) we are getting pizza tonight 🙂
I wonder how my mom cooked all those dinners for my family, back in the day!
I’ve been cooking sometimes, but Mom and I still have overlapping days when we’re not feeling ambitious. She’s okay with cereal for dinner every so often, especially if her stomach isn’t feeling quite right. Tonight I heated up chicken noodle soup and added some rice to it. I had gotten bagels the other day, and we finished those up with our soup. Dad made himself a baked chicken TV dinner when he wandered down after finishing a book. He also had a couple of servings of soup.
Mom misses eating in restaurants. We get takeout sometimes, but she says it’s just not the same.
Oh, pizza is one of the best no cooking options.
What is Summer?
By Kenzo, it’s really pretty.
We have cereal for dinner at least once a week.
So I’m not the only one?
Hello!
I’ve been working outside in the yard for a few hours a day on the nice days we’ve had. Yesterday was busy in other ways. I got my car inspected and got the cheapest Trak-Fone that Target had, to replace my obsolete AT&T phone.
I hadn’t heard of that kind of obsolescence before. The phone I had didn’t switch over from 2020 to 2021. It only went up to 2020, and I’d had enough of 2020. The phone I just got has numbers, no keyboard or anything, so I won’t be sending texts. I usually check my e-mail more often than I check my phone to see if I have messages, in any case.
Chester County seems to be doing better with vaccinations. I was able to schedule an appointment for my first COVID vaccination shot for Monday, and Mom had her second shot this morning. That place on her upper arm is swollen, and she was feeling very cold a couple of hours after her shot, so she went to bed and put the electric blanket on. Mom feeling cold may or may not be related to the shot. I’m sure I’ll hear all about whatever other side effects she may have.
I think it was this Sunday that I did “plant a flower day” a week or two late. It was more switching plants around to different locations. I dug up the tender daffodils that had had its leaves frosted, and planted them near the south and west sides of the house. They should get more protection there, plus the heat that radiates from the side of the house on those sides. I put hardier daffodils in the place that ‘Erlicheer’ had been. One is the yellow and orange double daffodil called “Butter and Eggs.” The other is ‘King Alfred,’ or at least something of a ‘King Alfred’ type of daffodil. That’s a classic yellow trumpet daffodil.
Also I dug up some rhizomes of the ‘Crimson King’ iris, since they were very crowded, and replanted them in various spots in the yard. I think they’ll settle in fine.
Right now I’m too sleepy to play guessing games, but when my brain is better, I’ll take a look.
Take care, folks!
Yay, so glad you’ll get a shot on Monday, that’s wonderful news!!
Thanks, Robin! I think they’re stepping up their scheduling. Hopefully you’ll be able to make an appointment soon.
Yay for Monday shot. Three people in our office were able to get “walk-on” shots this week, due to extras at various sites. Our wonderful bosses gave everyone paid time off to get them. Thank you for inspiring this lazy gardener….I have some excuses, like a too-wet ground, but I’ve been trying to do one or two things every day. I need to resettle some iris, too.
Usually I’m the lazy one — LOL! Some years I’ve gotten garden plants and then left them out in their original pots. In 2020 I did more of moving plants I got into bigger pots, and sometimes even got as far as planting flowering plants in the ground. 😀 I guess I had more time to focus, and I had much less in the way of options for going out and about. But I’m glad if my gardening updates are inspiring you. 🙂
I think Robin said something about the irises she wants to have moved having roots like thongs? The spot where I dug up irises up from the edge of the driveway still has thick leftover roots sticking up. The ‘Crimson King’ irises were easier in a way, because they were in a raised bed, but I was trying to lift the ones that were tight against the sides of the raised bed. One piece that came up reminded me a bit of pictures I’ve seen of mandrake roots — at least five fat rhizomes sticking out from a central section, plus a couple of smaller rhizomes attached. 🙂
Correction: I was trying for “dug irises up from the edge of the driveway.”
Great to hear that your mom is vaccinated, and that you will be getting your shot soon!
Thank you! 🙂
No chocolate covered raisins in the house. I guess I’ll just have to make do with the chocolate bars in my chocolate stash. ???
SOTD = Peace, Love and Juicy Couture EdP. Fun bottle for this one!
I used to have the travel sprays!
Oh I bet those were cute!
I think they came 3 or 4 to a box!
I like that one 🙂
Your review was a push for me to get a sample. And we know how the rest of the story went…
House Twins! My SotD was Juicy Couture. I was office-friendly yet smelled great, and I’m betting you do, too.
Hiya house twin!
Your sotd is in my fragrancenet cart! I thought it would be great for spring.
Today the progression on this went: sweet fruity-floral, then sweet floral, then soapy floral. No patch in this that I can detect.
I got apple, hyacinth, and lemon in the topnotes.
Sotd – “Happy Birthday America!” she said with a rye smile…
Is whiskey one of its notes?
No whiskey but there is litchi
I’m in a trio of Imaginary Authors today, and I’ve tried everything in the discovery set. Every Storm a Serenade, Cape Heartache and A City on Fire.
I didn’t care much for the first two, but ACoF is actually pretty great! I only sprayed a tiny dab on a knuckle, so I should probably try it again tomorrow and apply more liberally.
The big winners were St. Julep, Memoirs OAT and O Unknown. I have a FB of the first two, and am now hankering after the third!
Wearing Amouage Jubilation 25 today (from a sample). It’s reminding me of some other fragrance in my stash, but haven’t been able to pinpoint it yet.
I’m curious to know what your Jub 25 sniff-alike is! I haven’t come across anything else that smells similar.
Just did some researching; others mention Mitsouko. I will have to try a side-by-side test.
FWIW, I don’t see any similarity between Mitsy and Jub 25. But I get loads and loads of oakmoss from Mitsouko.
Diorella and Le parfum de Thérèse and Ame perdue
I’m wearing a bunch of stuff. It’s my day off, and I just randomly sprayed every so often. The last one being my new acquisition of BBW Sunshine Mimosa. They had the travel spray on sale for 7 dollars. It smells nice and summery. Hopefully I still like it when I wear it all by itself, lol.?
Sounds like you have a great day off. No worries about not liking it by itself because you can always experiment with a more minimalist layering ?
If you don’t like your new perfume acquisition, maybe your daughter will? Or does she like too much of your stuff already? ?
