The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 6 February 2020 11 Comments

Love Sun Body's 100% natural mineral sunscreen has mixed reviews on Amazon, but the "lightly scented" version with tiare and vanilla attracted my attention anyway. (The 100 ml travel size is $23, so it isn't cheap either.) If you've tried it, or if you have an absolute favorite sunscreen that also smells fantastic, do comment!

I’ve used this and I hated it. It was literally impossible to rub into my skin, I can only describe it as paste like. I’m all for more earth friendly sunscreens and with my skin tone I wear it everyday. This one got tossed in the trash as I immediately knew I’d never put up with the hassle.

It did smell good, but that’s pretty far down my list for a sunscreen.

Do you have one to recommend? I don’t care how it smells (unless it’s awful).

I tend to use Banana Boat the most. I use Origins Cream 40 spf on my face, but Banana Boat on my body. The lotion is cheap and I carry a small aerosol in my tote. I buy unscented. I prefer Origins on my face because of sensitivity. Once I find a product I like I tend to be like a dog with a bone.

For SPF for body, I tend to go with Hawaiian Tropic – I’ve always loved the smell.
For SPF for the face, Japanese and Korean Sunscreens are cosmetically elegant and many are fragrance-free.
I love Anessa Aqua Booster Mild by Shiseido SPF 50+ / PA++++, (it’s prohibitively expensive) and Watery Essence by Bioré (SPF 50 + / PA++++).
DRMTLGY is a fantastic dupe for EltaMD and half the price.

Yes to Asian sunscreens! Shiseido’s sunscreen lotions has a faint rose fragrance. French ones like Avene and La Roche Posay are also good. Plus they’re more likely to have a PA+ rating.

I have to use mineral in my face, and I like the Clinique pep start tinted mineral sunscreen. No white cast. I also like the Australian Gold, but it tends to dry out my skin. Agree La Roche Posay mineral is good. I tend to mix tinted and untinted.

I love the Australian Gold but as a waterproof addition to my sunscreen & foundation. It helps to keep the makeup stay put when I have a hot flash! 😀

I love Super Goop sunscreen- it’s a universally flattering tinted mineral and great make up primer
