Tuesday scent of the day 12/3

Posted by Robin on 3 December 2019 214 Comments

Tuesday and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm running late again, sorry! And I'm copying Jepster's pick from yesterday, Ineke Idyllwild. Tea at the moment is Lubini Estate Ceylon from Upton.

Reminder: on 12/6 we're doing Scents of the Season, part 1...wear something that smells like evergreens, or has an evergreen note. Suggested by thegoddessrena.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: top image is the Winterberry teapot from Emma Bridgewater: "In classic red and green, it has a charming holly branch design and holds four mugs of tea so it’s time to put the kettle on." On sale for $65 at Amara.

    Hello all!

I’m on my way into work in Bigarade Concentrée, loving every juicy second of it.

Today is my last day in the old apartment and I’m so ready to be done. I’m going to sleep so well tonight.

    Have a great day, everyone.

Teapot day! I’ve finally made the connection.
I had a really nice day today, visiting Antwerp. No perfume buys, just some sniffing of both Mon Guerlains. Intense and the straight EDP. I still think I need a bottle of each.
Other than that I put on some of my Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad sample this morning. It is nice enough, but I don’t think I really love it.
Tea is a lovely China black called Tan Yang Gong Fu.

I recently discovered an unlabeled white bottle of Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad with a twist of lemon. Will have to give it a wear when it warms up, I think I got this in a swap or bought it on ebay at some point.

After some very intense FOHMO (fear of having missed out) after Sonoma Scent Studio closed, I immediately jumped on a pile of samples once they reopened; today I am much enjoying Tabac Aurea.

And, pour one out for one of my teeny tiny Dior-Dior parfum pebbles – I dropped another perfume on it last night and now have the world’s best smelling Container Store box. Thank goodness it was only a few ml and I do have another one. Let my sorrow be your warning, if you have any of those pebbles the glass is VERY thin. I inspected it afterward and it is like paper.

    DUMP
A/K/A Doctored Up Mistral Patchouli to which I added patchouli, cocoa, peppermint and cardamom oils.

Will be wearing this all week.

I also now have on the shelf in the bathroom five of my full bottles and four oil blends. Pl67 inspires me to do some full bottle thunkin’.

Thank you everyone for your feedback yesterday on cat food for my furry granddaughter and best places to buy it. Much appreciated!

Kinda hard to screw up your name, lol. I usually just say “Lisa” to avoid having to spell and respell my name which is surprising difficult for some people. The “E” really throws them. And then I have to be on the lookout for them calling out “Elsa!”, “Eliza!” etc.
      Enjoy your sunny day! ??

Got an early start today, due to lack of sleep–not really a good thing, but maybe a nap later.

Doing laundry, finishing some online Christmas shopping with my coffee, and smelling good in some Memo Winter Palace (thanks to you know who…..I’ll give you a Hint)

Right now, I am using the bar of soap from Beekman 1802 in Vanilla Absolou. It’s not overwhelming in scent and the scent doesn’t last long post shower. I have the body butter in Vanilla Absolou but haven’t tried it yet. I find the soap bar to be a little drying.

I tried their soap and was completely underwhelmed. I chucked it because it started to separate into those weird layers; I always put my ‘in-use’ soaps on a prongy soap dish so sitting water wasn’t the problem. I was surprised as so many people love them; maybe mine was a bad batch.

I have a grapefruit lotion in a tube, but don’t find them particularly moisturizing but they smell nice. My hubby had an unscented one and said it wasn’t too moisturizing either; he has exczema from time to time and I thought the goat-milk base would be beneficial.

Double points for me today, my SOTD is Thorn & Bloom Evergreen. 1 point each for the name and the scent. What’s it smell like? Well, you know how every ‘indie’ perfume house has a nearly identical harsh smoky forest scent? Yup, that, though less harsh than most.

First tea of the day is Golden Yunnan from The Republic of Tea. It’s my favorite tea, and my first tea of EVERY day, I am not adventurous when trying to wake up 🙂

I absolutely love Idyllwild, it’s in my top five. Tried the new one and on the fence–love the scent but too short-lived and also not crazy about the drydown. Today it’s Hilde Soliani Sweet Home.

Love that teapot…especially the shape. Have to wonder where my old teapot is. There was a store that sold beautiful teapots in the town near where I grew up, and I bought a lovely one when I was in high school. Store is long-since closed.

In Baiser de Russie, which fits the CP with its pine. I love the floral sweetness that is cut with the sharpness and freshness of pine. Works well in cold weather.

If it’s Tuesday, it’s not just teapots but also discount movie day. Knives Out before I head to my monthly knitting group. Alas, just one hat/cowl combo to turn in for donation. I’ve been working on a cashmere beanie for either my husband or sister. He has first dibs.

My SOTD is vintage no 5 today. Just the tiniest bit though to fly under the radar. Just a little sluggish with getting up early to confirm some of my doctors appointments tomorrow and now got to leave for work. I didn’t have to have anyone sign for my Coromandel decant. From what little I can smell, it’s pretty close to the edt but not doing a spray on skin today.

SOTD = Hervé Gambs Hotel Particulier

Patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean, incense, sandalwood

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B5nljrbhXBg/?igshid=1wojvo5e0pz53

I don’t see this line being mentioned here at all here, except for when I wear it or maybe I have not been paying too much attention.

I am now getting many emails with either Cyber Tuesday or Cyber Monday has been extended or Did you forget something?

By the way, today is Giving Tuesday! My company is double matching and not automatically to the NFP to which I just donated. I get to choose additional recipients and I have been giving the matched $s to Doctors Without Borders, Faith in Practice (where my brother volunteers his services for a week in Guatemala each year) and some museums. I usually wait for my extra meaningful giving until Giving Tuesday in order to stretch out my dollars. I encourage you to check with your company to see if it’s doing something special today!

Same here, Robin, as vetiver’s one of my favorite notes. Although it was done with a very light hand, it does lend a woody/peppery feel to the finish, which I appreciated. And at its price, one need not be stingy with reapplication! 🙂

Started the day in a few sprays of Chanel No. 19 for my morning workout. It was a cold and breezy day in Florida today; 67 degrees INSIDE when I got up! So we decided to do a bit of shopping instead since it was cold outside.

We went to an outlet mall with my favorite perfume store (that I discovered a few years ago). Last time I was here I didn’t buy the Hermes Hiris they had (in a matte blue bottle); it kind of haunted me since then. I asked if they happened to still have it; yes they did! Yes, it came home with me; I’m still shocked it was there! I will try it properly in the next day or 2 when I have a few moments to myself.

Hi, thanks. Had to take my poor kitty to the vet today. He’s got to get all of his teeth removed next week. Feeling a bit low.

Today is my day off, but it’s been a very draining one..
I managed to wear 3 perfumes though, Cocoa Pink Triple chocolate dream, with a spritz of Angel on top. Later in the day, I dabbed on TF Soliel Blanc, so I could imagine spring was near.

If your perfume conjures spring, please let me know so I can join you. ?

Unfortunately, it was only spring-like because it’s so short lived ?

We had snow storms two days running. I chose Chergui because it is cozy on cold days.

It’s really unfair, having two in a row. How’s tomorrow looking?

That’s harsh weather, and not even technically winter yet. Time to break out the “winter warmer” perfumes.

Boo hiss on the non-stop snowing. I decided to WFH again today because it would have taken me too long to dig out in the morning. I ended up doing it in shifts (front steps in the morning as I was expecting a delivery, part of car right after lunch just enough to drive half a mile safely to the bank, then I parked my car on the side of the road where I know no one parks and cleared the rest of my car). All told it took over an hour.

Glad your 2nd day was better! It can be so overwhelming with a new job.

Are you able to wear perfume there?

Yes! I try not to go overboard (usually just a spray or two less than I normally would use haha) but we can! I’ve sniffed many others- both men and women- wearing stuff but have been to overwhelmed getting settled to try and identify what they’re wearing!

I know I will do really well, it’s just the whole getting settled and integrated part that is hard ya know?
