Happy Black Friday / Buy Nothing Day! Our community project for today: pick your Black Friday poison...wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in the last fragrance I bought, Aedes de Venustas Oeillet Bengale.
Reminder: on 12/6 we're doing Scents of the Season, part 1...wear something that smells like evergreens, or has an evergreen note. Suggested by thegoddessrena.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

In Rochas Absolu. Such a warm, embracing, pretty cheap thrill. Great for a ridiculous freezing day.
Sitting on my hands to stick on the Buy Nothing Day. Not sure if I will be successful, especially when I am browsing the internet to keep myself awake.
Happy Black Friday everyone!
If you do but, at least you know you’ve gotten a great deal. Twisted Lily has 20% off, not that I’m enabling…I looked into a bottle I wanted, but seems they’re out of stock. So by default, I haven’t bought anything. Hope you have a relaxing, laid back day. ✌?
I am trying to ignore the thousands of emails with so many offers and discounts. Twisted Lily is one of them!. Uff! ?
Will report if I succumb to Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday!!!
In case you buy something and don’t want to feel bad…
Retail hours are based on last years sales, so if it’s a slow black Friday then next year, less people will be able to work, and the people shopping next year will get less customer service. I hope it’s a great day either way?
Oh no, Lillyjo!!!!!??
I was just trying to enable ?
I MUST stay away from you!!!???
?You’re good!
Bwahahaha!
The weather DID take a turn to the cold side today! Keeping an eye on the forecast for the rest of the weekend…
We have a winter advisory here from Sunday morning to Tuesday morning. Crossing fingers that that front decides to go somewhere else.
Yikes! Nothing like that down here by me yet. Then again, I haven’t seen the latest forecast.
I’m in the very aptly named Winter Palace. Well, the winter part is appropriate, anyway. Planning on using up my entire decant and bidding this lovely, but not earth shattering scent, a fond “adieu.” It’s nice, and if a bottle landed in my lap, I’d certainly use it. Just can’t cough up that much money on a bottle of perfume…
Sitting still until Monday, then will head out after the Winter Bomb Cyclone passes to the East. Leaving now would send me right into the heart of it, on the worst travel weekend of the year.
Apropos of nothing, I’ve been wearing my messy bun in messy space buns and I’m loving it. It’s fun and playful.
Psychologically speaking, I may be regressing back to my childhood, which I kind of missed out on since I was a very “adult,” responsible, and serious child.
When I was seven, a friend of the family asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up…? My reply: “I want to be like the guy who sits under the tree and thinks about stuff.” My mother rolled her eyes and the questioner was stumped for a response.
Yep, seven years old, and I aspired to be like the Buddha, albeit, now a Buddha with space buns. ?
Smell well and be safe out there, fragrant friends!
Ha ha, that image gave me a good chuckle!
I hate bomb cyclones! Glad you are staying put. I don’t know what space buns are, but I laughed anyway ?
Space bun sample most like mine. Messy, but mine are mostly grey, swirled with my remaining dark brown bits at the nape of my neck. Probably not age appropriate, but who cares?
https://www.cassiescroggins.com/messy-space-buns-tutorial/
Oh yeah!, my daughter has been doing that with her hair, I didn’t know there was a name for it. The other day, I went to work in pigtails.
Oh, pigtails! ?
Such a fun hairstyle?
It’s a little kooky, especially up in this conservative neck of the woods. I got some odd looks today as I bobbed and weaved through the Black Friday masses…?
Enjoy your weekend off! You are wise-like the Buddha?- not to travel til the weather is better!
Are space buns the ones Princess Leia wears?
Anyway, stay safe and I hope you have a nice quiet weekend, in spite of the weather.
That was my thought too!
Ditto. I was a very serious child, a terrible bookworm, but am becoming a lighthearted, fun loving adult. It is a process, though! Give me 5 years and I’ll be able to rock your space buns. Of course then, it will have gone out of fashion, but I will be so zen that I will not care.
Hey, this is us in the form of a music video! One of my favorites from the 90’s!
https://youtu.be/Rk_sAHh9s08
Sometimes NST conversation really makes my day! Music and a very approriate Bob Dylan quote. Sending hugs to the whole, worldwide NST crowd. Have a lovely weekend!
Ohhhhhh I’d forgotten about that song! Beautiful! It triggered my memory of this too… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zQEV-XemfcE
Thanks for that video from long ago.
That was a beautiful song!
I had to go look that up! Thank you! ?
Oops!! Wrong spot!
With a nod to Bob Dylan, Deva…who famously sang “ I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now”.
Ah, thank you for the Bob Dylan quote 🙂
Perhaps we need a wear a fragrance to match your favorite Bob Dylan song community project, Robin!
We did that!
https://nstperfume.com/2019/05/24/friday-scent-of-the-day-5-24/
What a dope I am!
That is my favourite Dylan quote. 🙂
Winter bomb cyclone sounds terrifying (or like an ice cream drink from a fast food restaurant ?).
Also never heard of space buns, but they are darned cute!
My hubs’ nephew’s dog reminded me of T-Rex but with floppy ears. She was the best part of yesterday!
The cats, kids, and dogs always steal the holiday show!?
Oh, so space buns are what Sailor Moon wears!
Sailor moon! Awesome ?
Good call on staying put till the cyclone blows through. Those space buns are hilarious.
Hello all, I hope your Thanksgivings, if you celebrated, went well with as little drama as possible. Mine was nice except one friend canceled due to having flu. Too bad–but at least she didn’t come and share it with us. Kitties got some salmon treats. SOTD is one of my two most recent purchases: Alexander MacQueen Parfum. It’s just exquisitely beautiful and give me happy vibes whenever I wear it. I’m planning to go see the horror movie Parasite this afternoon; I keep hearing good things about it, and loved The Host.
Mine relatively drama free, other than the drama of the extra pound or two 🙂
Parasite looks so good but can’t decide if it will just stress me out! Enjoy it for me.
Lost another pound. 24 pounds gone, six more to go!
Just sayin…
So awesome! I’m starting Sunday back with clean eating. Do you have any tips? Exercise I have down, it’s just the eating – serious sweet tooth.
Well, really controlling portion size has been a big part.
And not having stuff in the house along with packing lunch and snacks for eating small amounts gets me through.
Using those containers that help me portion food are great.
Plus I log everything I eat.
I worked with someone to help me get started back in February, and she said logging everything does make a huge difference. So I will take that advice! Thank you for your feedback!
Yay, good for you!!
And no worries, I do not let myself go more than 3 pounds over my target anymore — too old, too hard to get rid of it. Last time I gained too much, some years ago now, I had to log my food for over a year, and I weighed a lot of it on a postal scale too. Everyone thought I was crazy but it worked, so stick to it!
I also did a very basic leptin reset. I don’t think everyone has to do that, but it sure helped me: 3 meals a day, plenty of protein with breakfast, absolutely no snacking. If I want dessert, I eat it right after the meal — no sweets that aren’t part of a meal. That was hard for the first 2-3 weeks, then it was easy, and still easy all these years later.
Excellent tips! I’m going to keep a log starting tomorrow! Thank you ?
I’m in the work appropriate 1957 thanks to a generous NSTer. I like this one but would never shell out what Chanel is asking.
We had a very low key/low stress thanksgiving and I didn’t overcook the turkey this year, lol. After dinner we sat down as a family and enjoyed a movie and pumpkin pie. It was lovely.☺️
My son has to leave today due to work and I got a little teary when I was texting him. Had to give him a hug goodbye last night before I went to bed as I was up and out of the house before the sun. My daughter will stay until Sunday at least so I will enjoy her being home.
The holidays are around the corner. They will be back soon!
I know! I’m looking forward to that. My daughter will be home for almost 5 weeks!
1957 is nice, you smell lovely!
Thank you!
I really wish I could actually smell 1957. I’m completely nose blind to that one. Sounds like a lovely day yesterday.
I can’t smell it for very long, unless I just become anosmic to it. I wish I could smell it on someone else.
Yesterday was just lovely.?
I’m glad it was a good thanksgiving!
Thanks! Hope you had a good day too! How did your turkey turn out?
It turned out good. A little bland, but thoroughly cooked and edible.
1957 is lovely!
I’m wearing both Amouage Dia Woman and Felanilla. Both recent FB’s. Both wonderful. I had not worn Felanilla in a while but I have absolutely no regrets. It’s a stunning gourmand iris.
Love Fellanila. I blew through a decant pretty quick. Don’t think I’ve tried Dia, but I’m sure you’re smelling fabulous. ??
I like to think so too. Can’t stop huffing my wrists.
Deva – no LS coupon so far but Indigo has a 20% off coupon and BR IS IN STOCK.
Go girl go!!
I’m too late! Only thing in stock now is the sample size. Everyone Is smitten with it, I guess. That’s ok, I have a plan…?
A kind perfume friend gave me a partial bottle of Dia she’d found in a thrift store and it was a perfect office scent.
It is a very well behaved scent while still interesting and with enough curves to please me.
I love Felanilla and also have bought a bottle last year, but a used one
I’ve had an ebay search for Felanilla for ages, but it somehow never happened. So I got me a fresh bottle. It is just so good.
Two great scents, never would have thought of that combination. I bet you smell amazing!
You smell fantastic!
Wearing I ❤️ YY which is my latest purchase, though that might not be true by the end of the weekend.
Got a new bedframe delivered today and it’s really high once a boxspring and mattress are on it. Fortunately for short me, there’s a built in bench at the foot. May put my bags of perfume samples in the built in drawers and free up some bookshelf space
just a few months ago I switched to a new bed with a lower profile–was too challenging with old knees to try to hike myself up every night!! Hope you have a comfy sleep in your new bed.
Buy Nothing today…
Chanel eau Fraiche from a sample
I am buying nothing today and doing nothing–after the flurry of hosting Thanksgiving, its all I can do to warm up some leftovers!
One of my everyday favorites!
Wearing my latest purchase, also a great bargain. I bought my first Guerlain-with-training-wheels, Champs Elysees. Actually, I bought a bottle for my mom’s birthday a while ago, blind and based purely on the notes and description. Then sprayed some when she opened her bottle and thought that it was actually really pretty. Found a little 30 ml for about $15 and am feeling very pleased with myself.
That’s a great deal!
Score!
Friday! Was up before dawn for work, looking forward to being off in a few hours. Will be watching the new whodunit, Knives Out. Planning on refreshing the fbw Arielle Shoshana Sunday.
That movie looks good, might drag my husband out this weekend.
I saw that photo and immediately wondered if you were wearing Oeillet Bengale today, Robin. Oh you smell fabulous.
I first thought today would be Kiss Me Intense as a last ourchase, but then I remembered my Sonoma Scent Studio ones. So, after shower it will be one spritz of Winter Woods.
Caught up last night in all the Thanksgiving entries. Belated best wishes to all. We walked the 2 miles downtown to friends’ place and had a relaxing afternoon/evening. I saved my serious indulgence for the delicious pumpkin pie.
Got up early and bought a jacket from Uniqlo with a Marimekko pattern (went on sale today). Could I have simply walked to the flagship store? Well, yes, since it’s a 15 minute walk away. But I couldn’t face the thought of Fifth Ave. today. So, I ordered with crossed-fingers that it will fit. My one Black Friday purchase….
It should be fine, especially if you know how Uniqlo run as to sizes. Sounds like it’s well worth being away from maddening crowds.
Oof, yeah. I’d avoid that area, too. Though even in a hood day, I really dislike that flagship store’s layout. It’s dizzying and claustrophobic to me. Much prefer the 34th st store.
2 mile walk cancels out the pie!
It is a bad layout. Overly complicated. Reminds me of the first time I was in NYC and quite literally got lost in Macy’s….
Haha! I can totally see that. I rarely go beyond the ground floor.
I do smell fabulous…thanks to yasmina who organized the split!
You are very welcome! Is the spray nozzle working properly?
Sorry to get back here so late…it is not my favorite spray mechanism ever (it does not do a nice mist) but it does work, and it does not stay “down” like yours. Did you email Aedes? I feel bad you did all the work and got the wonky sprayer!
I Love Marimekko! I had no idea Uniqlo carried some of their stuff, and reasonably priced. Some of those sweaters…a lemming is born, lol.
I ended up glad I was prepared and got my purchases done at 7:30 am. Agree…those sweaters are great.
Oh, it’s Buy Nothing day, is it? Whoops – just did a big, holiday Yves Rocher purchase online, including a bottle of Rose Oud for $C21. Planning on behaving for rest of the weekend.
Wearing a spritz of Memo Irish Leather from a sample given by a kind perfume pal. Rats, why did I just check its price now? It would be under $200 before tax on Fragrancebuy – but I don’t need a full bottle. No, I don’t. Really.
I guess this is far more per ml, but just in case you did not know it existed:
https://www.olivela.com/products/memo-paris-irish-leather-eau-de-parfum-10ml-219026?campaignId=1011371198&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqoOIlImQ5gIVz4CfCh0slgAEEAQYASABEgLj1PD_BwE
(And did not shop around, possibly you can get it for less)
YR Rose Oud is lovely – especially on a cold January day.
SOTD is a new and awaited purchase of Satori Mizunara. It conveniently arrived Wednesday evening with the luckyscent 20% off.
I did purchase an eye cream as I am ever hopeful something will work. Sigh…
Binged watched The Morning Show on Apple TV And slept 12 hours.
Yay for 20% off! And a good long sleep.
Does anyone has the coupon name for DSH site sale? I deleted my email, but have decided to get a roller of Maccabees.
Thank you!
starscent20 and also appreciate the code for LuckyScent (you can also whisper in my ear via email…as I feel an epic purchase coming on)…
I haven’t seen a 20% coupon there yet but most of what you may be looking for IS AVAILABLE w/20% off coupon at Indigo Perfumery. Hey, where the heck is Deva??
No affiliation. Good luck.
Any PSA for the LuckyScent 20% off?
Dear And double drat, No, not yet!
Maybe with 12 hours of sleep you won’t need that eye cream.?
Mmmmm….good thought but at 66 eye cream is a must.
Hurray for 12 hours of sleep! That sounds divine.
You must be super special to get a 20% off code for Luckyscent – do share! I get their newsletters and never saw it.
Was the 20% off just on that brand perhaps? I know they do line discounts sometimes. Congrats on your deal!
I cannot find it! I shredded my receipt. I will post if I get another email from them today.
I used a little bit of my Amazon gift card to buy a book for my kindle. I bought The Miniaturist for $2.99 as opposed to $17. The only other sales I am paying attention to are the TPC and the STC sales. I might get something, I might not. I am heading off to work right now in no 5 edt right now.
I was hoping lots of my kindle wishlist would be on sale today, but nope!
I’m signed up to BookBub, and get an e-mail a day listing a few free or on sale books in genres I’ve marked as ones interested in. The most common free or low price books I see are romance novels. I’ve also gotten some free cozy mysteries that way. Usually if it’s a mainstream bestseller it’s much easier to find in the library than some of the more niche things I read. 🙂
Happy reading!
I’m going to work soon and will be wearing Superstious. One of the best perfumes to come out in the last few years, imo. I think it is definitely fbw, but it is too rich for my blood. I spent some money at ULTA for Christmas, but I’m already thinking to return/exchange one item, because I think I can find something better.
Ulta is wonderful. Much easier on the wallet.
They just added more deals, but I’m not going to waste my lunch driving over there, and it’s not free shipping.
Smelled Superstitious on a man at an outdoor function last weekend and thought he smelled really good. I can’t wear it myself though.
I bet it smells fantastic on a man!
Hope work is not too crazy!?
Thanks, it’s not horrible, just messy!
I’ve been giving the travel spray of Superstitious a few longing glances since the summer. No way could I ever afford the full bottle.
I thought about a travel spray but I also really like Angelique sous la… something and L’eau d’Hiver and those are less expensive.
I’m in Chanel Jersey again and really enjoying its gentleness. Definitely a comfort scent. Very unlikely to buy it though. It’s more than I’d like to spend.
Enjoying a very un-busy work day today.
Hard to resist all the sales happening! I may cave and buy some candles I wanted from Brooklyn Candle Studio. Plus I need a few gifts so would rather get them discounted. I bought their Fern & Moss candle a while back which is a light evergreen scent and really enjoy it- doesn’t overwhelm at all. I’ve sniffed a few of their other candles and think they’re all really nice and relatively inexpensive ($24-$38/8 oz Mason jar).
Also thinking about a trip to Twisted Lily for 20% off deal- maybe some Boy Smells candles- I’m almost done with my Cedar Stack candle which I’ve been burning a lot since it got cold out.
Oh no!! 30% off is seriously tempting. I just bought one of their candles at Whole Foods near me for 30% off as a Prime deal. Got the rose one. I have their Santorini and Ojai candles and absolutely love them. Gotta go check it out…
So, if you have WF near your, you avoid shipping cost. They only have the smaller ones, like your wild fern.
Aren’t they nice? Glad to find another fan. I really want either the new Catskills one or Kyoto. I haven’t found a brick n mortar that sells their “escapist” collection. My nearest WF is pretty minimal in selection, but I may check it out anyway. Weirdly, when I load a cart with the amount required for free shipping (even after the discount), it’s still showing a shipping fee. I may email them because it doesn’t say either 30% off OR free shipping.
How do you get the Prime deal? I’m not a WF shopper.
Oddly enough, I found my Santorini candle up in The Berkshires and became a huge fan. (I had a horrible time deciding.) My local WF started carrying some of the smaller ones and just put all candles on sale (if you have Prime.) If you have Amazon Prime, you just download the WF app to your phone and use your Amazon account to link. You then just have them scan the QR code when shopping to get deals. Because I’m so close to WF, I take advantage as much as possible on sales and Prime deals. For items on regular sale, Prime gives an extra 10%.
Ah, thanks. Weird you have to go to the Berkshires to find that line, lol.
It cooled off a LOT since the beginning of the week, didn’t it? Today was “better wear gloves outside” weather for me.
It felt colder than even the “real feel” of 36 today. At least it wasn’t crazy windy. Stay warm!
I bought a small bottle of Davidoff Cool Water at a very good price.
You see, when I was starting highschool and bought my first glossy magazine, Aqua di Gioia, Light blue and Cool water were all the rage.
All over my budget of course.
And when I had the budget, I was too eager to buy newer, fancier, more unique scents. Until nostalgia hit for no reason.
So this is me, making highschool me happy 🙂
I totally get it!
Makes perfect sense to me.
I think that every retailer from whom I have EVER purchased ANYTHING has sent me an email with their Black Friday Specials!! Spent the morning drinking coffee and deleting email…..
Hope all had a lovely Thanksgiving (if you celebrated). I cooked and ate and drank and laughed with family, it was great. And, I still have some leftovers, even after the “doggie bags” I sent home with folks.
I am blessed, and I hope you feel that way, too.
ps–some Tauer Incense Extreme, just ’cause I like it.
Ha! So true and seems like when you request “unsubscibe”, they’re sitting back there saying “yeah, right”.
I know that feeling. 🙂 I’ve gotten an awful lot of advertising e-mails over the week, and particularly today.
I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving, jepster!
It’s ridiculous how hard it is to “unsubscribe” from certain retailers.
Ha! Me too on the emails. And some are a real pain to unsubscribe, you have to log in with a password (which has long since been forgotten) in order to ask to be unsubscribed. Feh.
I’d tried Comme des Garcons Leaves: Calamus last night, and couldn’t smell much because my nose was dried out. I tried it again this morning when I wasn’t so dried out from the central heating. I got a lot more of the fragrance. To me it was a nice blend of green scents. “Skunky,” Dad commented. I’d assumed that he was too congested to smell anything, but apparently not. At least it didn’t send him into a coughing fit.
I had read the notes for it, and wasn’t expecting it to smell like actual calamus. It didn’t. I found it pleasant, though.
Following the project: Arielle Shoshanna Sunday, new to me. A package from StC happened to arrive today.
Undina, I got another little sample of Demeter Condensed Milk. If you’d like to e-mail me with your address, I’ll send that to you.
neyronrose at gmail dot com
Haven’t heard from anyone about the Serge Lutens and Atelier Cologne duplicate samples I have that I wanted to pass along, preferably to people who haven’t had a chance to try them yet. I listed them in my comments on the weekend poll.
Have you tried the AS Sunday yet? I’m curious to hear what you think about it.
Yes, it was one of the samples I got today, so it was in the “things I got recently” category. I refrained from wearing the Vetiver Fatal the other day because I knew that had set Dad off into a coughing fit the first time I tried it. I actually tried Sunday today. Fortunately for me and the parental units, it’s striking me as a fairly mild scent. Not that it’s faint, or faded super-fast on me, but it’s not coming across as Big and Bold like some perfumes do. 🙂
I’ve enjoyed whiffs of green tea and rice and milkiness from it over the last few hours. Those are scents I enjoy, and I’m finding it to be a nice blend.
Oh, I forgot my Black Friday badness. I’ll have much to confess to Donatella for November. A couple of solid perfumes from LUSH, Rose Jam and I’m Home, and Dad’s Garden Lemon Tree body spray. Rose Jam is now available as a perfume, both “juice” and the solid, and LUSH is introducing several other perfumes today.
I never did find the 20% off code from Luckyscent, but I got what I considered a relatively inexpensive bottle of Diptyque Eau Rose EdT from Luckyscent. I remembered “gift with purchase” and went with 9 Nicolai samples.
Me either and I am so very disappointed, I have had my heart set on Profumum Roma’s Ambre Aurea and I really need the 20 percent savings. I’ve been waiting all year, so off now to others would might offer a similar deal!
Layered Le Labo Rose 31 on top of Tom Ford Ombré Leather.
Absolutely positively not buying anything today!
I haven’t seen you aroubd here, but I’m newish, so that doesn’t mean much. Maybe you’re a regular with a new gravatar?
I’m new! I decided to check out the NST posts and found myself reading comments for over a half hour. I love, love, love perfume! Not many people understand my nutty obsession. You guys get it.
Welcome!!
Hello there!
Welcome to NST!
Howdy!
Hello!
Welcome to NST!
Welcome and, yup, we get it ?
Welcome!
Hello. You should be able to get plenty of discussion on the topic of perfume here. 🙂
Memoir Woman, from a decant. I would like a bottle, but not at that price. The first scent that i would love to have was Musks Khoublai Khan, but i didnt want to waste my small decant on a work day.
You smell great, love Memoir. Fortunately we have good discounters here where you can get Amouage relatively cheaply, otherwise I’d never own any either. I’m on the waiting list at two discounters for MKK, hope it shows up someday.
Yesterday’s duck came out so well, I may never cook another turkey. Looking forward to the leftovers this week. Today I am wearing a cheap thrill–it came to me as a swap freebie, but cheap even if you buy–Pacifica Island Vanilla. It smells almost exactly like Tihota for the ten minutes it lasts.
Glad to hear that your duck turned out to be a tasty treat!
Glad you enjoyed the duck. 🙂
And yes, at $22 or so for 30 ml, those bottles of Pacifica perfume are very affordable. Some of the varieties last for quite some time for me. I think Persian Rose is one of the more persistent of those fragrances.
Scent free so far, not least because our one local perfumery is offering some serious discounts on some lines. There is nothing in my must have list, but very much worth a look and a sniff.
I would otherwise be wearing my latest purchase – Immortal Beloved by Ys Uzac. I tried it and liked it a few years ago when Luckyscent carried the line, but was newly inspired to purchase a FB when I read the acknowledgements in Kanuka’s book. She thanked Vincent Micotti, and I recognised his name as the person behind Ys Uzac, so that connection made a purchase so appropriate 🙂
Ah, nice connection!
Lost in Heaven sample Francesca Bianchi. So pretty. Big jasmine.
You must smell wonderful. I love a big jasmine.
That sounds wonderful! A big jasmine perfume is a great antidote to cold weather.
I have never heard of that one!
Ooh, Indigo Perfumery has just started carrying this line, I’ve requested a sample.
I ordered a sample as well.
Thank you! I got my sample from Indigo! There’s cumin also. Only one spray on my wrist is still going strong. I have loved everything I’ve tried from FB, and this is my favorite by far.
UhOH!
? it’s stunning
And It is already sold out at Indigo- on back order though I believe the sale price won’t apply.
Another lovely day in Florida. Spent part of the day in vintage Oscar de la Renta. That wore off quickly after a bit of a power walk; the golfers stayed home today so we spent a great day at the pool.
Trying to sit on my hands too, but I have some Chanel in a cart as well aa a bottle of Amouage in another cart. Waiting to see if we are going to a basketball game or otherwise staying home. My finger is getting twitchy waiting.
I’ve done plenty of Internet surfing today, but I am sticking to my plan. I hope that you can hang on as well.
Yes, I was tough after all and stuck to a no-buy today!
I win the contest for weird Black Friday e-mails: I received one from my hospital! True story! My aunt asked me if they have back surgeries on sale! (Sadly, she is scheduled for some on December 19th.) It’s really just a list of health advice articles, but still struck me as bizarre.
I violated no-buy because my favorite local artisan jewelry store was having a sale and I couldn’t resist. Cool new hexagonal gold earrings!
Ooh, can you link to the site or mention the name? I like artisan jewelry.
Ditto
https://www.chardejewelers.com/
Everything is 20% off through the weekend.
That hospital email does take the cake!
I love Oeillet Bengale, I have a large decant of it.
Today I am wearing Royal Elixir by Ormonde Jayne. Too expensive to buy.
My list of too expensive to buy is very long!
The only shopping I intended to do today was grocery shopping early in the afternoon, since my Friendsgiving is tomorrow. What a perfect time! The store was practically empty. No Black Friday shopping for me, thanks. I have zero interest in fighting the retail mosh pits.
SOTD = Clinique Aromatics Elixir EdP, from my cute little travel spray (which derailed my no buy temporarily). It is the latest thing I have purchased, plus even before the discount, it was under $30. There’s got to be a term for something that far deep into the perfumath free zone.
I am also loving how AE smells with the turning of the weather. It is rather chilly outside, and the wafts I kept getting smelled SO good! Wow! ?
Retail mosh pits, lol. The older I get, the less tolerant I am of crowds and the internet has made shopping at home SO easy.
Sometimes Internet shopping is too easy!
Glad the grocery store wasn’t too busy. 🙂 Enjoy your Friendsgiving! Around the holidays I tend to stay close to home to avoid umpteen real-life shoppers. I’m still a little freaked out from some time ago when I was in the local Boscov’s, and a senior citizen lady said to me, “I want my pillow!”
“I don’t work here,” I said. I thought, “Sorry, lady, I don’t have your pillow.” I later learned that it was a brand of some kind, and not the lady thinking I’d taken her pillow.
I’ve been on the Internet too much, though, and need to get out and interact with people in a setting that doesn’t involve shopping.
Black Friday shopping didn’t bother me when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. Nowadays, though, I don’t have the patience to deal with irritable people and crowded parking lots. Besides, there will be plenty of stuff around next week…
That story’s hilarious! My husband actually bought us those My Pillows a few years back and I find it to be pretty perfect. I call it “my My Pillow” ?
Okay, but you’re making the distinction there. (lol) I couldn’t hear any distinction when I got that question. My priority was to make it clear that I wasn’t responsible for her bedding. I fail when I get asked random questions, especially by random people. Either I have no idea what they’re talking about, or I answer as precisely as I can given my knowledge of a topic. Some people may think of using good people skills first when replying to a point-blank question. Those people are not me. I think some NST folks have kids like that.
I’m giving myself double points today for Last Fragrance Purchased & Cheap Thrill. I’ve been working my way through my stash and have rarely been tempted but when I see a fragrance listed with a rare coffee note – especially when combined with cacao and vanilla, two other favorite winter scent notes – I ‘m interested! So, ordering some replacement skin care products from Yves Rocher recently, I ordered a small bottle of the new Cuir de Nuit. YR calls it a ‘sensual vanilla’ and includes leather and pink peppercorn notes as well. Although a few reviews say it’s sweet, I find the cacao powder/coffee/leather notes add a dry, somewhat earthy texture to the soft vanilla. A warm, comforting fragrance, nice for putting the house back together after a lovely Thanksgiving.
Buy Nothing Day for me; tomorrow is Shop Small Saturday and I will do what I can to support the few remaining stores in my neighborhood.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend ahead.
That perfume sounds nice. I’ll have to keep that in mind. 🙂
Have a good weekend!
SOTD = Molton Brown Bizarre Brandy
I liked the name and decided to go for a large sample. If there’s credit for doing the exact opposite of the CP, I would be a contender ?.

And because I have more of this perfume than one can ever use, the first 5 people in the U.S. to place dibs here AND who posted before this post today (based on time) will get a 5mL decant. After placing dibs, please email me (click on my username) with Subject “Bizarre Brandy” and include your full mailing address even if you know I already have it. I will be a mailing machine and it helps me to just copy and paste from the top parts of my email account. It’s absolutely fine to dibs if you just got a freebie from me. There will be lovers and haters…if you hate, feel free to pass it along…it won’t hurt me.
And yes, I braved the mall and indeed got a parking spot quite far from the entrance but ehh, not bad considering I was initially going to walk here (3/4 mile) so all told, I’m ahead of the game. Cybershopping will happen when I get home!
Dibs! Emailing. I love a good boozy scent. I really enjoy the Muddled Plum shower gel and lotion.
I clicked on your IG picture and was amused by the spam message on your post. Do you get a lot of spam on IG?
I posted before 5pm PST, does that count? LOL. 🙂
Ok, my freebies outside of the freebie meet, my rules. You get one of the decants. Funnily enough I originally thought 6 so that is what I’ll do (my rules ?).
Thanks! Will send you email. 🙂
And to answer your question re: spam. I don’t get a lot. I join draws when I can which means I have to “do” something to participate. I won’t accept any free stuff other than through these draws because I don’t want to be obligated to do anything post receiving the item unless I’ve agreed to do something as a condition of entering but will not pimp myself just to write a positive comment.
Dibs and thank you! Sounds really good.
Dibs! Thank you!
Ooh, dibs, please! Thanks for the offer.
One more decant left…see my original post on this thread except I am now offering 6 and there is one spot left!
Trying to use up random samples lying around, so I doused myself in Hiram Green Dilettante to thunk it. 🙂
The douse and thunk technique!
Exactly! It’s a little strong since I kind of poured it down my chest, but I’ll survive. 🙂
SOTD was left over SJP Lovely perfume oil. It was a recent gift from my cousin so not sure if it qualifies or not. Lovely floral with a musty martini undertone. I do wonder which iteration it is?
Also, if anyone is reading, can you tell me anything about Quelque Fleur? Just mildly curious.
I’m still reading, but I don’t have the foggiest notion about Quelque Fleur. Wish I could help.
Thanks anyway! I hope you have a wonderful time tomorrow with friends!
Thanks! ? I’ve been looking forward to it quite a bit.
I’m still reading too.. is that Houbigant? I remember looking something up with a similar name, but don’t remember much.
It is! A few You Tube reviewers mentioned it and it sparked my curiosity. I wonder if it smells dated? It’s been around for a long time.
I have a couple of fairly recent samples of Houbigant Quelques Fleurs. I could send you one.
Oops, that was supposed to be directed to Petunia.
I used to wear that back in the 80’s, no idea what it smells like now, but it used to be an old-fashioned powdery floral.
Ah, thank you! I guess it must have changed but a few reviewers really like it.
I’ve smelled the Royale version, and didn’t like it, but don’t remember why since it’s been a while.
I think the Royale version has a a jammy rose note, just based on reading. I haven’t sniffed it. I’m not usually a fan of that either. The original is supposed to be a soft floral.
The reformulated version is not very good I’ve read somewhere, and I think Victoria even called it vile, but never smelled it, so I went for vintage which is a classical floral and quite lovely.
SOTD is TF Lavender Extreme, via a generous NSTer. I wanted to wear something that didn’t even hint at something edible! To me, lavender is often about a certain spiritual quality, an austerity. The LE dies down to a comfort scent on my skin. Had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday, but sport eating doesn’t agree with me these days. So after our fancy feast and lots of laughter, there was late night regret. Next year will be different!
I hope you’re feeling better now.
I feel fine now, thanks! I can’t believe I actually needed more food today. I sure do miss my old gall bladder . . . .
I was feeling regret after supper last night too. I took some homeopathic Arsenicum Album and a sleeping pill.
Need to try Lavender Extreme, it sounds like the feeling I get from SL Encens et Lavande.
I’ll have to try the SL. I’m a fan of that house, despite all the unevenness.
I found the Encens et Lavende to be very lovely.
Oh my dream bottle! ?
I’ll have to try and catch up on NST reading this weekend. I’ve entered the friends leg of the Ohio trip from today through Tuesday. I wore Vol de Nuit parfum, which was one of my last purchases in decant form.
Another busy fun filled day! We just finished watching The Irishmen on Netflix, it is soooooo good! Al Pacino stars in this with Robert DeNiro & Joe Pesci. Al Pacino is one of my ALL time favorite actors and all 3 men did an incredible job acting in this one. It didn’t feel like a 3 +hour movie.
SoTD: Chanel No.19 EDP. Ohhhh gorgeousness in a bottle.
I re-applied it at 5pm for more worship as I couldn’t part with it yet and now I am in a small spritz of Theorema for bedtime.
