It's Almost-Friday, and it's Chili Dog Day, and Mick Jagger is 75. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: The Different Company Le 15. I had not worn it in ages and I'd forgotten how much I like it.
Reminder: on 7/27 we'll celebrate the Buck Moon...pick your poison for the full moon tonight.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Ivoire, as usual.
When you’re trying to use up a bottle, why does the level never seem to go down?
I think that’s perfumista law #17.
You can do it! Ivoire was the first victory in Use It Up! this summer.
So true!
It always happens! Really frustrating, but keep going!
😉
I’ve a 100ml bottle of 2012 Ivoire. Been draining it for three years to 20mls now. The emptier the bottle, the more you can notice it evaporate if not used frequently though . . . maybe an alternative strategy?
OMG, seriously! The ones you want to move are the ones that stick around…
Just read your review of your SOTD and it sounds gorgeous. I had intended to wear Divine but somehow managed to forget I wanted to, and am instead wearing Angéliques sous la Pluie. It’s lovely but vanishes quickly in hot temperatures.
I don’t think you can buy Le 15 anymore, which is just as well…it never came in a small enough size for me.
And Divine…gosh, have not worn anything from them in ages either.
I wear them once in a while and always love them when I do. It’s a nice house, not wildly original but solid, if you know what I mean.
I’ve sampled quite a few from Divine, and always think they are really well done.
Oh! Mick Jagger and I are birthday buddies! I wonder if we are also birthday scent twins: I’m wearing a wonderful birthday present, a bottle of (newly reissued) Kate Walsh Boyfriend. It is, to my delight, every bit as tasty as the original was!
Happy birthday Ari!! ????????
Hope it is a wonderful day.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday! Enjoy your day and your new perfume gift!
Happy birthday! ????????????????????
Happy Birthday! Many fragrant wishes. 🙂
Yom huledet sameach Ari!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday, Ari!
Enjoy your day!
Adding my Happy Birthday wishes! ????
Happy birthday, Ari!
Happy birthday, Ari!
Happy birthday! 🙂
Happy birthday! It’s my sister’s bday too. She was born exactly 50 years after Mick Jagger.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Have a wonderful day, Ari.
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday, Ari!
Happy birthday!
Happy Scented Birthday, Ari! ????????
Happy Birthday, Ari!
Am almost done with my current bottle of No. 19.
That’s a gorgeous one. 🙂
You smell wonderful 🙂
Nice work!
I’d have to get a backup if I were almost done with my No. 19!
yes!!!
Way to go!
Yaaaayyyy
SOTD is vintage Bal a Versailles. In the mood for something powdery today… 🙂
You smell amazing. Bal is a favourite of mine
I think I’ll join you in a little bit!
Divine!
You smell fabulous!
Love that one!
My perfume bottle is old, so the juice is dark, thick and almost oily in texture. 🙂
I was craving Cristalle this morning but alas, my sample is empty. So I went with Bel Respiro instead!
Excited for the first sunny day after many days of rain.
You smell fantastic! Are you wearing the EdT or the EdP?
Thanks! It’s the EDP!
My Nordstrom decant of Cristalle is empty – I might bring it back to them to fill it – I do enjoy smelling the atomizer sometimes .
I’m in the same boat!
Absolue Pour Le Soir MFK
I think I tried this once years ago when it was on sale at Senteurs d’Ailleurs in Brussels. I seem to remember liking it a lot.
I’m sure you smell great!
By the time I had finished my sample of this, it had really grown on me. I bet it smells great on you!
Yummy scent
Yum! Love that one. You smell AMAZING????
Wearing l”eau d’Hiver lotion and EDP today.
Another busy day as I check details on the payroll implementation and try to get some crap off my desk prior to vacation ( only 2 more days !!!)
You smell great!
I’d like to wear the original Cardin de Pierre Cardin as I’m sure it is what I wore to see the Rolling Stones in 1982 but it can no longer be found so I’m dabbing on a touch of vintage Opium and putting on my RS playlist as I pack for a weekend trip. I’d like to just take a travel spray and a couple of samples, will be in close proximity to a lot of people so I want something quiet, haven’t decided yet. Oh how I miss Nicolai Le Temps d’Une Fete! It would be perfect. Have a good weekend everyone 🙂
I’m very lucky to have found a bottle of Cardin de Cardin EdT in an antique store. I liked it so much I searched out a bottle of the parfum. I think it’s pretty affordable on eBay still, if that’s a place you’d be willing to go.
Oh thanks! It’s been years since I’ve searched, I’ll check it out.
????for seeing The Stones live!
I was a lot younger and so was Mick ????
I saw them in 1989 and remember thinking it would surely be my only chance to ever see them live! I didn’t see them again but those guys just keep rockin’! I was probably wearing Exclamation or B&BW Freesia or something like that since I was still in high school.
I saw them on that 1982 tour too. Called in sick to work to do it. **shush, don’t tell** #probablydoesn’tmatter36yearslater.
Lol I saw them at Wrigley Field in Chicago too, in the 70s. Don’t tell my mom!
Hi all!
I’m in Nu today. I found a bottle at a local perfume store that they’d presumably had since it launched. I remember when it was much thriftier to get it on discount but I still paid less than it would be on eBay. I also got a bottle of Tocade, which I’ve been wanting for awhile.
The store had some really cool stuff, but one thing was so rare I could barely control myself. However, I couldn’t buy it all that day, so I’ll talk about it when I actually buy it.
Have a great one!
I like your perfume store 😀
Oh me too! The last was very sweet and helpful. I was in there for at least an hour.
What fun shopping !
It’s my new hobby, going to out-of-the-way perfume stores!
Yay, hope it is still there when you go back!!
Me too! I’ll be surprised if I can wait till August but I’ll report back.
I’m not opposed to hiding it in an unlikely place in-store.
Nice finds, and good luck with the last secret bottle!
Ah, thank you!
Homemade neroli, sweet orange and vanilla bean body oil and two sprays of Greylocke on my shirt.
I am fascinated by how many different oils can layer so well with Greylocke. I am sure you smell super fabulous! ????
Actually what I have been doing is using the oils diluted as body oils and Greylocke just two sprays every morning….they do play nice together though!
What I meant to say was oil on the skin and Greylocke on the clothes!!!!
Super! ????
That sounds yummy!
🙂
Your body oil sounds delicious!
I was thinking of you when I made it last night 🙂
In Guerlain Habit Rouge. A big summer favorite. RIP my decant! I will miss you greatly! It has been on my “to buy list” for a long time. I know it can be easily found at the discounters for almost free, but still not a priority. Anyway, it is beautiful, I smell great and I am enjoying it!
Happy almost Friday everyone!
I can send you a back up decant if you want 🙂
Thank you Coin-op. That is very nice of you. But I am fine for now. As I mentioned to you in your comment, I am trying to reduce my collection and enjoy what I have now. I might get probably a perfume for my birthday or the holidays at the end of the year, but not sure which one yet! ????
RIP….NEXT !!!!!! 😉
That was the last summer decant I had. Now, to finished the rest of my samples. Not so many left! ????
YOU GO pl67!!!!! Will you continue the same path in the fall and winter as well? If so you will definitely make a dent in your collection and further narrow down what you really want (or don’t want) in full bottles.
Yes, I will follow the same patern in every season. Hopefully, I will reduce a lot!
I have a bottle and would be happy to send you another decant if you’d like another before you purchase it. I also love it in the summer!
Oh I see Coin-op offered too! You have my email, just let me know if you want some. 🙂
Thank you KellyC. As I said to Coin-op, I am ok for now. I am trying to reduce my collection and enjoy what I have which is a lot.
“CLUNK”! ????
YES! ????
With the humidity essentially visible and into day 3 of a brutal heatwave, I’m thinking Cap Neroli EdT by PARFUMS DE NICOLAI is about all I can handle. Really a beautiful, fresh, authentic lemon-neroli with tenacity. Light/sheer. Hopefully will shield me from atmospheric destruction.
Ah, a shield from atmospheric destruction! I knew I needed a bottle of that.
Oh, that makes me happy to hear. I have a bottle waiting at home for me that arrived just as I headed out of town. I wish I’d brought it with me. … I only did one spritz and liked it but didn’t really try it too much…
What a nice bottle to come home to!
Yeah, it’s super fresh. It’s still vivid and punchy for me since I posted earlier. Impresses!
I’m trying Zoologist Elephant after yesterday’s disaster with Dragonfly. This one is much better. So far, Civet has been my favorite.
I’m thankful for your mini-reviews of these since I am about to get some Zoologist samples!
seconding the love for civet. that’s the one where I sprang for the FB. (I’m a little excited about the upcoming t-rex though…)
Right now I’m just wearing the romance of Samsara from last night – It’s lovely! I had forgotten it’s a sandalwood perfume – my first impressions last night were: powder – Rose – cloves – plastic
I’ve been recently tempted to purchase OJ Ta’If, Aedes de Venustas and Gallop – but I looked at my expenditures over the past year, I’ve decided I need to put myself on a no buy until I use up a more of what I have – i’m sure many of us have found ourselves in this boat – thus the weekly project!
Romance = remnant
Awww, I liked that you and Samsara were having a romance ????
Ditto!
Thirded!
???? it does sound better that way
Welcome to the USE IT UP club which was inspired by johanob…..we are all working hard this summer to enjoy all of what we have before getting anything new 🙂
Happy to be here! And glad there are so many companions ????
Welcome to the Use it Up team! Many of us are trying to finish as many perfumes as we can. I am finished with summer decants and next samples, before starting with my full bottles. Time to enjoy what we have and make space for more beauties later.
I am on board! And I think I’ll end up smelling so much more this way ????( that I would otherwise ignore)
Didn’t even bat an eye at seeing romance in there. You smell wonderful. A great rose.
I am definitely on a no-buy since I went a little over my budget in London and Paris… going to do my best with the use it up crew.
I’m wearing Ysatis from a vintage 4ml mini. I really need to get a bottle of this. It is an 80s masterpiece.
Never smelled it, but I’m curious, if it’s on display at the mall I will try it next time – the last time I was at Macy’s I spelled Amarige for the first time and was very pleasantly surprised
It’s been reformulated thugh (what hasn’t?). The current version is nice enough but it misses the breathy depth and oakmoss. I’m loving it for the massive dose of ylang-ylang.
Amarige was the first ‘grown-up’ scent I purchased for myself in 1994 or thereabouts after sniffing the scent strip in a magazine. There was always *something* in it that was a bit off so it was ‘like’ not ‘love’.
Amarige is LOUD though. I came across a practically empty vintage mini in a junk shop and smeared whatever minuscule little was left on my wrist. The sillage is NUCLEAR.
❤️ ylang ylang
Amarige is powerful – I imagine it is best dabbed.
Good morning Y’all!
Wearing Clarins Eau Dynamisante….always perfect in summer.
I wanted to let y’all know about a perfume being developed that I think several of you might like! One of my favorite YouTube fragrance reviewers, Beauty Meow, is developing a passion project perfume, and will be working with 4160 Tuesdays’ Sarah McCartney! It’s going to be a dirty jasmine, citrus, and leather scent. Here’s the info if you want more info, and want to support. All profits go to charity, so this is a true passion project! 🙂
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/beauty-meow-4160tuesdays-fragrance-project-cats#/
What a nice project and sweet that Sarah McCartney is helping her out with it! And the notes sound great ????
You smell great!
Jasmine, citrus, and leather does sound like a good combo!
Using up my sample of Loewe 001 Man today. I like this one much better than the women’s, as I’ve said before. I’ll be a little sad when the sample is gone, but not enough to buy more.
Shame they are in such big sizes — Loewe needs to get on the travel spray bandwagon.
Morning, NST!
I have an extra heavy dose of Carnal Flower on today.
Craving tuberose and an ultra beautiful scent which I think this one is.
I also like how this one warms up on hot days. Lush, sweet and heady floral.
Oooh, that sounds good today. I bet it’s beautiful in humidity.
I am wearing a big, white floral today as well. I find them lovely in heat and humidity. Way too many squirts of Estée Lauder Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia.
Carnal Flower blooms in the heat in a very good way!
Another hot swampy day, testing out Orris Tattoo. Yesterday’s Noir Aphrodisiaque was very pleasant, hard to identify it specifically as chocolate, but a lovely sweet sruity floral: chocolate, jasmine, bergamot and I think cinnamon are the main notes I smelled.
Orris Tattoo has iris plus some wood/cardboard notes, very enjoyable in this moist heat.
Woody, sweet or rooty iris???
Mostly woody, although I do detect some sweetness too.
Yay! I think Aphrodisiaque is more is more! The Orris Tattoo is super nice!
Bruno Fazzolari Fontevraud today. I’m finding this stuff kind of addictive though I think Fall is its season with the overripe fruit, oak moss, and inkiness that seems to be his trademark. This could be Calyx Noire.
Oh, oh, oh! This is going on my next sample order!
It’s a weird one (like a lot of his stuff), but I recommend!
Hey Deva, I can send you a sample. I have a partial bottle!
Thank you! Super kind of you, but I’m “en route” with no address as of yet. And my small little perfume box is full at the moment…✌????
Calyx Noire???Oh oh !!!
Haha! It was the only perfume I could really compare it to. Maybe Pulp but old Calyx smelled more funky to me than Pulp.
Oh gosh yes…old Calyx was definitely funkier than the new Calyx! Old Calyx was my summer staple for about 9 years.
and yes, agreeing with you, funkier than Pulp too!
And now that I think about it Siano reminds me of a honeyed Calyx…there is something funky about it as well but it also has a very pronounced honey note to my nose…I happen to really like it but I would imagine that others might not.
That sounds really good.
Calyx Noire???? Uh oh. That sounds great!
I really like this one too. I get sort of a metallic vibe from it as well as what you describe.
Hmmm. It didn’t strike me as metallic but it was also humid and hot and it was more powdery today than when I tried it at home in the aircon.
Chanel Chance, this time the Tendre flanker
Listened to Mc Solaar again this morning (yes, Koyel)
My older 3 year old monkey has been asking for a tea party so this morning Mr L went into work late and we took the whole crew to Alice’s Tea Cup. I had Lavander Earl Grey Tea and lots of scones and crepes.
Forgot to add that this morning I was able to put on makeup, in peace. A rare morning ritual
Sounds like a lovely morning :).
And you smell great ! 🙂
Have you tried this one? The sillage is bigger than I anticipated!
What a wonderful morning!
I like that flanker…very soft and easy to wear. You smell great today!
I am just trying this one now. I found a sample in my stash. What have I been missing…
What a wonderful start to the day. Good on you!
I haven’t sought out the album you mentioned yet, but it’s on my to-listen-to list 🙂 Your breakfast sounds great!
Loving the photos this week! ???????? They’re always great, but I have a particular fondness for nature shots.
SOTD is the left overs from last night of PdN Vetyyver, which smells super amazing, maybe because my nose is surprised it’s not VT.
Happy Almost Friday Day!
Will you see the eclipse where you are? We will see it but it is just before dawn when the moon is very low in the sky
I don’t think it will be visible in NA. ☹️
No, I read an article about the eclipse earlier today that said we won’t see it here in the States.
100 percent humidity in my area today. The air is so heavy, I feel like I am swimming through it. Vintage Diorissimo called my name this morning. It’s long gone now, although I used 8 sprays this morning. Luckily, I brought the bottle with me. Time to top it off.
Diorissimo is so beautiful !
☺
Such a pretty scent. The vintage has nice depth.
It is gorgeous!
So beautiful, yet so fleeting. I think the humidity would also just squash it down.
I think you need to apply hajusuuri’s method of 8 sprays. ☺
Yeah, I hose down my arms when I wear it, lol. And it Still fades fairly fast!
You may need to do 10. It took a little bit of experimentation to arrive at 8 for 28 La Pausa.
Ick! That sounds like Florida! Hope you get a weather reprieve soon. In the meantime, you smell fabulous✌????
New England summers are usually humid. Tbe humidity has been coming earlier every year. Maybe it just seems that way because I hate it so much. ????
You smell divine!
Thank you. I give all the credit to ElisaP. She made several comments tbat piqued my curiosity. ????
And funnily, I associate it with missionista!
100 percent humidity? UGH! Has it been raining buckets, or is it just a giant wet towel that is draped over everything?
You must be experiencing similar humidity? Thank goodness for air conditioning! It makes tbe unbearable, bearable!
Not today, but I did for most of this week. Bleah!
Great description of the weather. We’re getting both buckets and towels!
Weird phenomena, we’ve been getting sun showers all week. It’s unusual for my area. Most rainy days are endless drear.
Currently test Reve D’Ossian and Geisha Noire. Reve is a big fat no but I like the Geisha! It reminds me of Shalimar but lacks the gasoline opening of the EDP.
Any rainbow sightings? We got a nice one in Sunday.
I was perusing the Orizas when I placed my recent Luckyscent order and almost got a couple including that one (but decided on a $20 limit so took them out) What does it smell like?
Love Geisha Noire!
I love GN too but already own Shalimar so not sure I need this? It’s actually easier to wear.
I do not have your talent for describing scents so in very basic terms, it is a dry oriental but has some sort of scratchy note, like cumin, that was present from the opening and did not go away. I just can’t get past it. I’ll send you my sample next time I send you something.
I have not seen a rainbow in a long time. Although, I wish that I see one soon. (Rats! No rainbow emoji)
I got the impression of something synthetic in Reve as well. Like synthetic incense or something? Me no likey.
I know what you mean when you say you feel like you’re swimming through high humidity!
It’s been wicked all week! I hope the forecast for next week calls for lower humidity.
Started the morning in Urban Decay Go Naked, but couldn’t really smell it, so I topped off with a couple sprays of Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli. I’m all neroli’d up.
Indeed you are 🙂 We are neroli scent twins.
Hermes Hiris and drinking green jasmine tea.
This past week has been so scary and hectic. My Dad went into hospital late Saturday. He heart was failing. He was in hospital from Saturday through Tuesday, draining fluid from around his heart. I’ve only come on here for a few seconds each day. It is always so nice to read about beautiful perfume. A perfect escape, if only for a few minutes here and there 🙂
My Dad is doing better and we have a follow up appointment today with cardiologist.
Wishing your dad good health!
I am so sorry you are going through this! Spend is much time with your Dad as possible!
Best wishes to you and your Dad ❤
I hope your dad continues to improve. You smell lovely today.
Glad he is doing better. And glad he has you with him.
Frightening but glad he’s out and improving!
I hope th appointment goes well today. Best wishes to both of you!
I’m glad to hear he is doing better. Heart failure is so scary.
Look after yourself. Thinking of you.
Best wishes to your dad. I hope his health keeps improving as days pass.
Best wishes for you all.
Glad to hear he’s doing better. Sometimes we have to take our small escapes and distractions where we can find them.
how scary for you both. I hope that he’s recovering his strength, and you are getting some rest in among all the hospital stress.
Wow, so relieved your father is doing better!
Hope your dad continues to improve!
Best wishes for both and and your dad! Good to hear that he has improved and will be seeing a cardiologist.
…That should be “both you and your dad”. Do take some time for self care!
Oh I am so sorry and hope things keep improving with your father.
So glad your dad is doing better. It’s nerve-wracking when your parents start to have health problems.
Glad he’s well enough to go home!
Stay strong Barqs!
Doing another day of wearing a decant that had never been given a full wearing. Today it’s Eric Buterbaugh Apollo Hyacinth. It’s a really nice green dewy floral and is more interesting to me than the Rodin 3 I wore yesterday. Apollo Hyacinth reminds me of Jour d’Hermes in style and feel. Still not sure it will make the cut because I’m trying to be more discerning these days.
Also, I did some sampling last night and all three were duds for me. First, Berdoues Peng Lai smelled like a functional product, either laundry detergent or dryer sheet. That’s probably my least favorite type of perfume. Next, Iris Rebelle, which started off interesting and promising but within 15 minutes settled into something boring, nondescript and just basic petfumey smell. Finally, and this one kills me, Hermes Jardin de Monsieur Li. I thought it might work when I initially sprayed it, but then it got this screechy radiance and the crispness plus sweetness of the kumquat gave me a headache. I had only tried Monsiuer Li briefly at Nordstrom and it didn’t do anything for me then, but I wanted to retry it since I know quite a few of you enjoy it. Oh well, it’s almost a relief to not find more perfume to pine for.
Oh, I finally ordered the St. Clair sample set yesterday. I can’t wait for those to arrive!
I thought that Apollo Hyacinth was just okay too. I recently wore it on a hot day and completely changed my mind. I doubt that I’ll ever buy a FB but I am enjoying my decant more now.
Thanks for the mini reviews!
Thanks for those reviews…lemming killed on the Berdoues!!! I will be curious as to your thoughts on the St Clair Scents…I love em, but YMMV…and I think it’s great that everyone’s honest personal opinions can talk many of us off the ledge with regard to blind purchases.
I’m finding it very satisfying when a personal lemming of mine gets killed ????
Oh yes! it’s great for eliminating impulsive blind buys!
So many of other people’s beloved Hermès perfumes give me headaches. I feel your pain! The Eric Buterbaughs I’ve tried also don’t work for me.
I think I found for you an evil twin – Lucas: he likes all three of the perfumes that you tried and disliked.
????
Just finished a 2 hour meeting with my kids ABA therapy director. I’m so happy we finally were able to find this place. Sotd is Miu Miu. Robin, the Mugler site just launched a bunch of new colognes, if you want to check them out. Sorry I can’t link.
Did your meeting go well?
It did, thanks. It was all about establishing goals, and how to meet them. Also, they are giving me paperwork for the school, so maybe they will get on board with this type of learning. But that’s really up to them, I just am happy to have professional support after all this time.
Thanks — hope they are not stupid (and I guess that’s because I’m worried they are.)
And glad your meeting went well!
SotD: Satori, by Satori
Love! You smell fab!
Gorgeous photo this morning, Robin! SOTD for me is Le Temps d’Une Fete, which I may have sprayed a tad too lavishly. 🙂
I hooe you feel better today.
I’d happily stand next to someone who sprayed LTdF too lavishly….
I will join you 🙂
Wearing Ormonde Jayne Ta’if.
PSA- TheLine.com has three Naomi Goodsirs, Iris Cendre, Cuir Velours and Or du Serail, at a hefty discount: full price $187, sale price $75.
Use code welcome18 for an extra 10% off, I got that code from signing up for their email list.
I have used that before! Maybe I should have used a new email with them 😉
Ach I want a backup of iris cendre!
Gonna stay in the Use It Up lane today with Stella. Finishing a 30 ml bottle I’ve had kicking around a couple of years. Don’t want to bring it back with me.
There was no question of opening doors up last night. Didn’t cool down that much and, even worse, there was a fire at the foot of the nearby mountain that started yesterday afternoon. A few homes lost, many protected (and covered in red fire retardant from the planes…) It’s 60% contained now but temps are expected to hit 106 today. But it’s a dry heat! ????
Sad for those coming to see Yosemite and have been thwarted by its nearby fire. Sigh. Welcome to California.
Yes, the wildfires are so scary! Not sure if there are actually more of them in the recent past, if they’re more damaging to forest and human habitation, or if it’s just more news coverage…? Whatever the case may be, there is nothing more terrifying than an out of control fire. I don’t know how those wilderness firefighters do it…!
There are actually more. They are actually larger. And they are starting earlier in the year, and ending later. My husband is a volunteer fire captain with CalFire, which is staffing more people and more equipment than ever before. Welcome to the new normal…
I’ve heard the same thing about fire season from my brother in Colorado. He is not a firefighter, but does a fair amount of recreational activity in the mountains.
I am old school in (newer) Mitsouko – I have a little vintage perfume oil of this but I forgot to put it on. This is one of my favorite perfumes. If I had to have just one, this one might be it. I got it as one of a five sample gift set, along with Jardin de Bagatelle, Shalimar, and two of the classic colognes. Without even noticing i was doing it, I used up the Mitsouko first, and then wondered what happened to it. And then missed it and got some more….
Yesterday I wore Carthusia Fiori de Capri EDT, but was so busy I had no time to come here. I always look forward to the little respite this site provides from the stresses of my work day.
You smell great!
Sometimes work gets in the way of NST, but what can you do? 😉
I’m sampling Auphorie La Lanterne Rouge. I like it a lot, but I dabbed it on a half-hour ago and it’s faded a lot. I know it’s an extrait so it will wear close, but I want more longevity.
Two hours later, it’s gone.
Money saved!
SOTM = Anima Dulcis
SOTE will be Architects Club
I decanted from the leaky sample, and had some extra to dab behind my knees, which now smell delicious. Two more sample vials to go and I will have officially drained my Arquiste sample set.
Slept like a log last night, so I’m off to the gym!
Y’all have a good afternoon. ????
everyone seems to be draining samples..
A good night’s sleep is a treasure! Enjoy your workout.
OJ Frangpiani from my travel spray set. Sprayed more lavishly than I am accustomed to in the service of using things up (although this is brand new so it’s not going to be used any time soon). I tend to underspray because I’m worried that someone will complain but heck, everything I wear is super fabulous so I’m going to start spraying more!!
Spray, spray, spray! Life is too short! ????
I second this sentiment!
You guys keep cracking me up???? you’re awesome cheerleaders!
????????????
Joining the Use It Up train today in Green, green, green & green. It breaks my heart to say goodbye to this one since it was my first niche, my first “signature scent” AND I still love it but won’t replace it at the size/price. I will miss it, but it’s very silly to have the last few squirts just sitting there doing nothing.
That is the point! Use it and enjoy it before it evaporates. I am sure you have lots of perfumes that you also love. Reduction will allow you to enjoy them more!
CDG Green? Beautiful stuff.
Miller & bertaux 🙂
Oh, thanks!
If you ever need a decant, let me know, I have one of those big bottles nearly full. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed the very last satisfying drop!
Good to hear that you enjoyed it all!
I have a neglected bottle of this if you ever want to replace it! I like it but never reach for it.
Glad to see there are a couple of participants in the USE IT UP!-Club!????????
SOTD!I finished another one,Rose en Bos Imithi!Yay!My favorite from local Botanical house Rose en Bos(Rose and Vine),earthy forest mulch with loads of oakmoss and patchouli.Nature helped me a bit,as I noticed the bottle did evaporate a bit over the course of about 5 years.Still!*Clunk*????✌????
P.S!Winter is on its way out….sunny, breezy warm day today, not even a sweater in sight!
Lovetosmellgood:you’re right,I’ll never look at a peach again without a little giggle!Haha!But yes,great movie.x
You’re making me weep…two jerseys and a down vest here!
Yay to clunk!!!!! and warmer weather!!!!
Someone’s getting it done ????
Stuck in the mid-winter doldrums, that dangerous time of year when you find yourself standing in front of the bathroom mirror, a pair of nail scissors in your hand, thinking, ‘Man, I am so sick of growing out my hair I’m going to cut me a short, punky fringe and have some fun.’ The voice in your head goes, ‘Noooo, don’t do it. You’ve gone through 2 years of terrible growing out bowl cuts, you’re almost there. Remember last time, when you ended up looking like a ‘Dumb and Dumber’ stand-in.’
Voice B wails: ‘But I’m so bored!!!! And it’s only hair!!!!’
Wearing Serge Lutens Bapteme du Feu.
Hats. Hats are awesome. (I grew out my hair–with just two bad impulsive scissor attacks in the journey from cheekbone to waist length–with the magic of wrapping it up in turban type scarves and ignoring it.
Also: you smell fabulous.
I live in hats! I started off with a shaved head – I decided to stop dying my hair so cut it all off – but now I’ve just entered the Hillary Mantel phase…ugh. Plus my hair colour is so bland…not grey, not blonde, but grlonde.
I’ve just started colouring mine these past two years… not to cover the grey, but to do fun colouring in. I almost chopped it short, and then thought… nah, play with it first until it rebels against being bleached and rainbowed. I wish I had the bone structure to rock a shaved head, though.
I started coloring mine when the dreary drabness of gray + “dirty blonde” got to me. Just highlights to perk it up. Makes a big difference, and is compatible with my extreme laziness when it comes to haircuts… if I get it done twice a year that’s a lot.
I like your “I don’t care hair” approach to the current trends of $100 haircuts, $250 color jobs, and $75 blow outs. I’ve been wearing big sun hat when outdoors and I’m loving it! A messy bun is also a great way of sporting “I don’t care hair,” which what I do on the daily. ????♂️????????♂️????????♀️????????????????????
I’m still looking for a grey haired old lady emoji….????
???????? ????
I’m not good at high maintenance like that: long hair and piled up buns and scarves are great. But what I save on cuts I probably spend a chunk on colour: it’s currently many shades of purple.
speaking as someone with a short punky cut, I say do it!
Think I might!
LOLing at “Dumb and Dumber stand in”!! ????
Oh, I know those bowl cuts…. and I totally get the boredom. Mine is blunt cut, just above shoulders. So very boring.
Wow! Mick Jagger is 75 and still going strong! I’ll take one of whatever he is using, please. My SOTD is Versace Bright Crystal Absolu.
I know! 500 years from now, they will dig up Mick Jagger and he won’t have changed a bit! ????
That is equal parts funny and scary!
Continuing my own project of “every day is a special occasion” I’ve been wafting about in jubilation 25 today. There was bucketloads of Bandit yesterday, and vintage cuir de Russie extrait on Tuesday. Birthday week, and I’m wearing whatever makes me happy. (Clothes too. Weird rundholz cropped jeans, vintage navy uniform jacket, big damn brothel creepers, and violet lipstick? Yep.)
Happy birthday week. I like your style! And your perfume.
thank you! I felt pretty damn fabulous today.
Rock on!
Rocking it weird style 🙂
Happy Scented Birthday Week! w00t w00t! ????
Many thanks! I’m feeling pretty good about this whole half century business.
Agreed – the half century business is really good.

Wishing you a happy birthday week (again 😉 )
Thank you, Madame Marzipan 🙂
Happy Birthday week! I love a good violet lipstick ????????
Happy Birthday Week, crikey.
Hello everyone!
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted but I’ve been lurking for most of the summer. Thanks so much for your lively informative and funny posts about perfume.
I just stumbled upon a new line of perfume at Luckyscent.com. It’s called Essential Parfums. Made from high quality, sustainable raw ingredients and each of the 5 perfumes on offer is a guest spot for a fine perfumer to do their stuff. The bottles are super affordable, kind of like a poor man’s Frederic Malle idea. 10ml is $20 and 100ml is $70. I ordered a 10ml of the one called The Musk by perfumer Calice Becker. Notes are ginger, beeswax, lavender, Australian sandalwood and musks.
SOTD: LDDM! Smells great in the high and dry Colorado rockies
Oh, that is something I will have to try for myself… LAdDM at altitude! It sounds wonderful.
You smelled great!
In Orange Sanguine today, and looking forward to getting some new BB cream tonight.
Ooh do tell what you got!
Ahhh… home again!! Tired and jet-laggy but ever so glad to be home. I didn’t even mind (much) the young child sitting right behind me on the flight home whose apparent preferred mode of communication was a sudden eardrum-piercing shriek out of the blue. (Her parents did try, bless them, but “use your words” and “no screaming on the plane” did not seem to have any impact.)
Glad to be home, even if I did have to take over the pill-the-cat chore (cat is more cooperative with me than with DH. although ‘more’ is definitely a relative term here; cat still does not take kindly to the activity.)
I did manage to get a margarita while in Austin, but it was lousy. My boss has a real talent for picking mediocre restaurants. I got the local folks to overrule him for the final day’s lunch out, at least. One decent meal in 3 days.
And I’m down to one red skin splotch from the Eye Serum Sample Fiasco on Tuesday.
SOTD is Estee Lauder Sensuous Nude. Pretending I’m at the beach.
Well, that stinks about your margarita fail! At least you are home now.
I really hate bad food when traveling for work, probably more than is reasonable.
Bad food sucks. Glad your eye is better!
Chili Dog Day? Yum! I seem to end up wearing a bit of the really good ones that I have had, though. ????
Sunshine today for the first time in I don’t know how long! Both the cats and I are happy about this weather related development. I truly think that they are solar powered… ????????
SOTD = Versace Eros Pour Femme EdP, from the sample stash. It’s floral fruity shampoo. Into the “Give” pile it goes!
If it goes in a “give” pile then it counts as ‘another one done’ 😉
I’ll go along with that, thanks!
That is also “CLUNK”! ????
Unfortunately, the stuff I sprayed on me is still going strong. ????
Oh no! The same that it happened to me yesterday with Jo Malone English Pear and Fressia. ???? As I always say, the perfumes we dislike are the ones that stay forever!
Glad you are getting sun???? if you come across the Eros edt, give it a sniff. I think it is much more interesting than the edp.
I’ll keep an eye out for the EdT, then. I’ve noticed that the perfume selection at the Ulta closest to me is a lot smaller than it used to be.
Oh, speaking of ULTA, right now you can take an extra 50 percent off clearance perfume and make up. My ULTA is small, but I got a blush for a dollar, and a some things for my daughter. I thought about picking up a clearenced Shalimar but didn’t.
I was just at Wegmans and the woman ahead of me bought 8 underarm deodorants. It sure looked like she was buying them to bring them home where it is hot as you know what almost year-round. So, while home is likely where they will end up, she bought them to use coupons. It looks like she ended up paying less than $1.50 for all 8!
I thought you were wearing Amouage Sunshine!
Late today wearing Rahele, as I did yesterday. I usually don’t repeat much!
When something is right, it’s right!
You smell fantastic!
SOTD is Shalimar Souffle Intense, thanks very kindly to the wonderful She-ra! Serious lemming now. Testing it vs Souffle on the other hand. Intense is a little deeper and has a little smokiness that brings it more back around to original Shalimar and doesn’t have the synthetic opening.
It is only about 70 degrees where I am today, so I pulled out the Terveer Incense and put some on. I’ll be back to my warm weather florals and citrus scents as it warms back up in the next few days.
SOTD = Diptyque Volutes EDT
Copious amount as in 8 sprays. I have to say that the saturation made vanilla-amber more prominent. LOVE! My bottle is half-full so it will take a while to finish. I finished a bottle of shampoo yesterday, so there’s that
In other news, my < $14 Revlon hair dryer was a dud. It gets slightly warm at the highest setting. I will be returning iit this weekend but only if I find a suitable replacement. It is taking twice longer to dry my hair!
Commuting Woes No. 442:
– When there’s a train delay (which happens a lot), monitor posting and station announcements are non-existent or frequently unreliable. The conductors of trains on the platform could announce or shout out the destinations but because they don’t like crowded trains, they keep silent, causing people who could have taken that train to remain on the platform. Ugh!
That’s a horrible woe! So, they are getting paid to make other peoples lives more frustrating, as long as they aren’t inconvenienced? Shame on them.
You nailed it, lillyjo. On the flip side, WE pay to get a SPOT, not a SEAT but not telling us which train it is deprives us of a SPOT.
Re: your commuting woes (almost typed commenting woes, ooops!) — was it NJT or the MTA this time?
NJT (and for once, autocorrect to “Nut” was correct). MTA wouldn’t normally mix local / express and destination although it could stop short of where you want to go. At Newark, different NJT lines with trains that look the same use the same set of platforms. Some trains have signage displaying the destination, some give a train number only and some don’t even use the signage.
And I also meant to add that local and express trains use the same set of tracks and accidentally ending up on a train that doesn’t go to your stop is a HUGE inconvenience.
I got a Jinri hair dryer from Amazon for like $40 and it’s so much better than the Conairs I’ve had. And much quieter with faster drying time.
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll have to compare its weight with that of the ones at Target. I may get it at Costco.
SotD = Assam of India
I needed something easy for today. Assam ticks that box quite nicely.
Time to start reading comments bottom to top. NST is a wonderfully scented tribe.
If was just about to read up but decided to peek to see who left a comment after me. You smell good!
It’s my Friday. Yippee! It’s been a long week.
Wearing several sprays of Terracotta tonight. Tomorrow I am getting my hair highlighted with some added lowlights (to cover the grey).
Stay cool everyon, it’s stinking hot here.
