Happy Hump Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I have never had the premixed Campari Soda shown above, but a Campari & soda with a twist is my most frequently ordered bar drink. If I was home (I'm still out of town), my not-too-matchy fragrance would be Guerlain Mandarine Basilic.
Reminder: on 7/20 we're having a Cocktail Party...tell us about your favorite cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), provide a recipe if you like, and wear a perfume that would complement your choice. It doesn't have to be a boozy fragrance!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Ubar Amouage
Hi Bear! You smell wonderful! 🙂
You smell great! Ubar is one of my all-time favorites.
You smell great!
Oh, I love Campari. I had a friend who would order it straight; of course is rather not have it straight.
Driving back to Houston today from New Orleans. Since I’m the one driving, I’m meditative in Dzongkha.
Have a great one, all!
Enjoy your drive
You smell great!
Safe trip back home. You smell fantastic!
Safe travels and open roads!
The premixed Campari soda is yummy. And the bottle is cute. I had to rein myself in when I discovered four-packs of them in our supermarket in Rome. Fortunately (?), our US grocery doesn’t sell them, so I have to mix them the old-fashioned way.
Fo’ah again
Almost done with this sample
Listening to Gipsy Kings
I love Gypsy Kings, great way to get the day started!
Smokey toes, I am going to see them live this fall. My second time ✨
Ahhh, so Jealous! You will have a fabulous time!
They will be in New York just in case anyone is interested
Wearing Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber. Perfect pairing for a G&T
Yes…and just pouring Hendricks in the Earl Grey works too.
Oh that sounds great! Will have to try it sometime.
There are also recipes for Earl Grey / Hendricks martinis & whatnot, but I promise that just pouring Hendricks in the tea works fine 🙂
This is probably the only perfume I like despite the cucumber note.
Have you tried the San Pellegrino Chinotto? It is a non-alcoholic version of Campari and soda, bascially (and welcomes a slug of gin if you are so inclined).
I am wearing Lubin Gin Fizz, which is fine in the heat.
Oh, do you happen to know where you can get that in the US?
i’ve seen it at fresh market!
I have not! I will look for it.
Chinotto is so refreshing! It’s not the usual sticky–sweet fizzy drink.
In warning, though, a friend bought it in Italy thinking it was a cola and did a literal spit-take.
I smell delicious this morning in Tendre Madeleine, courtesy of Eldiyen, who sent me her unloved bottle! I usually like gourmands, but for the past few months I’ve been responding to them with greater love; not sure why. Perhaps I am trying to make up for reducing added sugar in my diet. 🙂
Happy Hump Day, everybody.
Hello all, My SOTD is Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic layered with Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier body oil. Both have a zippy orange note with a woody-green dry down. One of my happy perfumes for sure. 🙂
I love Campari with a twist, so refreshing! Happy Hump day!
We are spirit twins or something?
We just may be Robin! 🙂
I bought a budding-perfumista friend a bottle of this for her birthday, despite her not mentioning that she liked or even knew about it. I made a good guess: it is, as she puts it, her favourite summer freshie.
Good call AnnieA! I really love the far dry down of this, it’s soft and warm and surprisingly long-lasting (discreet sillage though).
Another Campari lover here … I’m wearing Imaginary Authors St. Julep, which is not all that boozy in the end.
I know there are still plenty of us around, but young people must not be drinking campari — more than once recently have ordered one and had a young wait person ask me to spell it.
I’ve noticed that many restaurant bars are not as well-stocked as they once were – I have two friends who prefer brandy cocktails and several times they’ve been told (by nice-ish restaurants) that the bar doesn’t have any brandy at all.
Yes! It is like places have “artisanal cocktails” or they have nothing but the basics. I am not at all surprised about the brandy. If you ask in a restaurant what kind of vermouth they might have, usually they will look at you like you must be crazy. They have an old bottle of something they use to make martinis, and that’s it.
Hermès Vetiver Tonka. I’m skipping the booze and instead up to my eyeballs in the Use It Up unofficial community project.
I love Vetiver Tonka – you smell wonderful.
Welcome to the Use it Up club!
Yay Deva!!! welcome 😉
SOTM twin!
That is such a yummy scent, you smell great!
I’m trying Lampblack today. So far, this is my favorite of the BF discovery set. One more to go and than on to the Phlur.
Yum!
My favorite, too. You smell great!
Good morning! I’m wearing Slumberhouse Ore in honor of one of my favorite cocktails ever in my life, from a restaurant in Beijing called QMex. The only thing I’m absolutely positive about is that it had chocolate bitters in it, which the Ore is reminding me of perfectly. Otherwise I THINK it was tequila, lime and cola, although it might have been tequila tamarind and cola? And chocolate bitters. Definitely chocolate bitters.
Tequila tamarind and cola sounds delicious!
that sounds amazing!
I have debated a bottle of Ore several times. I really enjoy the rough natural edge of the patchouli cutting through the gourmand aspects of this scent. You smell great.
Coffee and post shower SL Borneo. Just because.
No alcohol here, but I remember when living in Greece pre EU and loving portokolada and limonada – a lot like San Pellegrino, orange or lemon and fizzy. Perfect on a hot bright day.
You smell yummy. I’m on a gourmand kick too.
Very busy, sleepy and tired. Coffee to the rescue!
I am wearing JHAG Sunny Side Up, thanks to a generous NSTer. I just finished the last drops of the small decant. This is quite good and I like it. I received a compliment from one of my coworkers saying that she could smell a delicious sandalwood. I do not get the sandalwood which is good considering the difficult relationship I have with this note. My coworker said she will head to Sephora at lunchtime and might get a fb. Good for her! In my case It did not make it to my full bottle to-buy list!
Have a good day everyone!
another one done and NOT on the fb list…success 🙂
It is success! ????
I didn’t get sandalwood either, wish I did. Hope your workday goes fast ????
It is amazing how different noses can identify notes we cannot. Glad she got the sandalwood.
I hope your days is good and also goes fast! ????
Thanks, just got to work, but I got a big diet coke and The Stones with me ????????
😉
So I guess you get an enabler pin from your coworker?
Ha! I don’t know yet. I will find out tomorrow. ????
Well, that drink looks delicious. I have a friend who makes Italian Negronis (sub prosecco for the gin), which I recommend all Campari lovers try.
Wearing Angeliques Sous La Pluie for the gin and tonic vibes. I like this one, but it lasts barely two hours on me – I’ll probably spritz something else for the afternoon.
Yum, that Italian Negroni sounds delicious! It is summer, why don’t I have any Campari around?
Why indeed! It’s so versatile and good and nice to have a bottle in the house for on the spot cocktails!
I love love love Campari. And tonic water. Just anything bitter.
I am wearing something very un-boozy and pretty much the exact opposite of Campari today, though: CSP Vanille Peach.
I like anything bitter too! I drink mostly amaros & vermouths & quinquinas.
For home, I keep Leopold Bros. Aperitivo, which is sort of an “artisanal” (I hate that word) take on pre-formulation Campari. It’s still made with cochineal.
Thanks for the tip! I love Campari, but it’s not vegetarian, and I’d love to have something to have for my vege/vegan friends. Now to find it in Canada, or smuggle back on my next trip to family…
Wait, why would Campari not be vegetarian?
Or maybe I wasn’t clear…Campari has not been made with real cochineal for some time. It is just red food coloring. The Leopold Bros puts back the cochineal.
OJ Champaca from the travel set I picked up in London. One of my favorite perfume shopping experiences of my recent trip!
You smell fantastic MMK!
You smell good!
Ginestet Sauvignonne.
In summer, I like mixing dry white wine (typically Sauvignonne Blanc) with water. Like spritzer but with still water instead of carbonated one.
I have a friend who likes chilled dry white wine with cold water over lots of ice. 😉
I am sure it’s even better with ice when it’s really hot.
This is how the ancient peoples drank wine and strong beer- mixed with cold water, not taking it direct like we do now.
Guys, I organized my sample collection last night! It didn’t take as long as I anticipated, and gave me a great appreciation for things I already have.
On a related note… are the freebiemeets still a thing?
I’m wearing Philosykos EDP today!
Yes they are …both formal (Robin sets a date) and informal (you just make your own announcement in the comments with your own personal criteria)….. Robin will correct me if I am wrong 🙂
That is correct. Our next official freebiemeet will not be until the fall.
Great, thank you both!
Congratulations on the sample organization! When I went through mine last it created a big box for the last freebie meet, and everything feels much more manageable.
Soleil de Capri….”thunk”……y’all know what that means 😉
or is it “clunk”? heck, whatever hajusuuri said!!!!!!!
Haha! Congrats on downing another!
Thanks Elisa! I have really enjoyed Soleil in the scorching heat….as well as wearing it consistently.
The “official” term is thunk ????
We DO! Keep going! ????
Oh believe me, I will!!! Not sure what to pull out next….I have been craving Greylocke but that has quite a bit of juice in it (I think, based on the weight of the bottle…can’t see the juice inside) so I would essentially be wearing it for the entire summer…which might not be a bad thing but then y’all will get sick of me reporting the same SOTD. On the other hand, might inspire folks to join our USE IT UP club 😉
Oh please, keep reporting! It is encouraging! Even if it is only me, I will cheer you up every day ????. I have not tried Greylocke, but many people say it is a great perfume. You will enjoy it and who knows if more people join us! ????
OOps! my comment for you ended up below in lillyjo’s box -LOL!
Wear what you want for as long as you want, silly!???? you smell great always, and are so inspiring. I’ve noticed the longer you wear something, the more you seem to pick out different aspects of the fragrance. Pretty neat.
Greylocke is the one that made me realize that I could wear vetiver….there is something about it that veers into the gourmand territory…it’s chewy and delicious (if that makes any sense)…I could easily wear it for a month straight….I do have other things I could finish but I think I would enjoy wearing Greylocke for a while.
Thanks lillyjo…I will do it then!!!
I don’t have the best relationship with with vetiver either. I wear my vetiver perfumes rarely. However, I like and wear Fat Electrician more often. I will eventually try Greylocke when I have work on all my summer samples. I checked last night and I have much less than expected. I guess by the end of the month I will have finished them.
I do not want to tempt you with more samples or decants but I will save some Greylocke for you and somewhere down the road if you really NEED to try it let me know. I don’t want to add to the never ending sample pile but once you reach a point where you are ready for new stuff give me a holler here and I will email you….sound good?
That is very sweet of you, thank you, I really appreciate it!. ????. But I still have so many summer full bottles to take care of. And I do not even want to think yet about all the samples, decants and fb for fall, winter and spring. It is going to take me long time to reduce what I have. I would prefer and love you to enjoy every drop of Greylocke! ????
You got it 🙂
Yay! You go girl!
I have so completely enjoyed thoroughly dousing myself in fragrances that were unknown to me and wearing them for days at a time 🙂 such pleasure…and thank you !!!!!!
Nice!????????????????????
😉
That “thunk” is another one bites the dust! Perfume, that is. Earworm comes separately.
LOL!
Another sample done (two in a row!): Molyneux Quartz. I’ve quibbled for years over getting a bottle of this. Still haven’t decided.
wow! we are rubbing off on you.
Or “creating a supportive environment where sample addicts can go to work on their issues…” 😀
LOL!!!! oh you are hysterical 🙂
Oh that’s hilarious! It’s like the Enablers Anonymous mission statement ????
What is/was the Quartz like? I recently got a sample of it.
I like(d) it a lot. It’s a delicate fruity-floral to me, with peach and hyacinth as dominant notes. Melon is listed, but _thank heavens!_ I don’t get any of that. Hope you enjoy your sample!
I’m wearing En Passant today; I grabbed my Eau de Magnolia travel spray first, but the sprayer refuses to depress and the top doesn’t come off. I’ll have to figure a way to break it open.
Yesterday’s kitty meet was a bust. He looked very compatible from the info posted on his kennel card, but has many issues that would make him a poor fit in my home. I’ll keep looking (and resisting taking home a mastiff with hip dysplasia that just looks at me with the saddest eyes). These are the hazards of volunteering at a shelter!
Huh. I think the rabbitsflower had the same issue with an EdM travel spray.
And, yes, I want to take home ALL of the animals, too. I’m going to a shelter/TNR fundraiser this weekend with cats up up for adoption and it will take restraint not to bring home a new little guy.
I’m sorry about the kitty 🙁 but you should definitely visit the mastiff again. And then keep him. He’s been practicing those eyes for a while for the express purpose of tugging on your heartstrings.
Mr. Mastiff got adopted yesterday evening!
(Not by me, but still, so happy for him!)
Oh how wonderful 🙂 I hope he has a wonderful, loving forever home!
Seven years of volunteering at the shelter and I have yet to bring home an animal (other than fostering). It helps that I’m allergic to dogs and cats.
foxbins, if your shelter is like ours, there’s never a dearth of cats/kittens, so the right one is out there, somewhere! And yes, the sad-eyed dogs really get me, too.
AG Nuit Etoilee
You smell great Barqs!
Perfect one for steamy days
This has been on my blind buy list for years. I am a sucker for perfume names and I have never had a dud AG.
Do you like mint, or pinetrees? Hope that helps…
Sort of…mmm?I’m not so keen on immortelle.
The EdT has less immortelle in it than the EdP does.
Nuit Etoilee also has immortelle in it. The EdT and EdP are rather different to my nose: the EdP is more a cool to cold weather scent.
I’ve never tried Campari, but judging by all the fans here, that’ll have to change straight away!
My favorite cocktail is a mojito (I’m also partial to amaretto and most anything with ginger ale). I don’t have any minty scents in my collection, so I’m in Chanel no 19 EDT because it just sounded good today.
I love amaretto..is a mojito made with that? I know zilch about cocktails and am not really much of a drinker…an occasional beer or glass of wine…all of these drinks being mentioned sound delicious though!
No amaretto in a mojito, which is usually just rum, lime, sugar, mint, plus soda water.
Hee hee…goes to show how very lIttle I know…maybe I need to start taking notes this week…..everything mentioned sounds delectable!
Mojitos are delicious, including virgin versions.
What’s that? Is it served in a sealed glass?
Good thing I wasn’t drinking a mojito when I read that or it would have been all over my keyboard now.
For me Chanel 19 sounds good on almost any day :). Good choice!
All the discussion about Campari!
My co-worker friend and I were just talking about it this afternoon at break as a matter of fact as we both noticed an ad in a magazine with a great picture of a drink featuring it.
Negronis and Compari are among my very favorite cocktails…the other two being Dirty Martinis and Spicy Bloody Marys. My SOTD is Tom Ford Oud Minerale.
I’m wearing Balenciaga Cristobal. It’s faded into a soft skin scent after 10 hours. Nice and non-disturbing, although I had a total blackout this morning and couldn’t remember what it was for the longest of time.
Re: using things up I always thought I’d limit myself to 12-13 bottles max. But when I last actually did a count I was astonished to find north of 25 bottles . . . how did THAT happen? It’s like not looking after the garden and finding it grown full with weeds. (Don’t count minis fwiw.)
Since then I’ve sold four on the Bay, drained three, and am looking at finishing off a 1-2 more. Yay. The stuff just sits there otherwise and ! evaporates ! which is rather disconcerting.
Cristobal is such a good perfume! I went through a bottle years ago. And yes, the accumulation part of this hobby is amazing, through swapping and freebies and late night discount shopping and unexpected eBay finds….at least that’s what I’ve heard 😉
SotD is Sycomore. Edt.
I love it year round but it really shines in the heat. Most Chanels dont work for me, but this is one of my favourite fragrances!
I haven’t worn this one since summer rolled around. I must rectify that!
I completely forgot to put on perfume this morning so am still going commando! It feels rather weird, but nothing to be done about it.
I get used to it quickly on vacation! If I’m near water, I’m usually only wearing perfume at night.
sometimes you have to step away and then revisit your collection
Have just returned home and have put on some vintage Jicky. I still have some Guerlain samples that I ordered nearly 10 years ago from The Perfumed Court. I really ought to finish them, so why not today.
Jicky is rather glorious!
OJ Frangipani for a beautiful day after much rain yesterday. No cocktail pairing but the twist of lime in this nods to garnish, maybe? Anyway, I’m loving this one today.
Mmm that’s a good one.
You smell wonderful!
Iris Cendre, courtesy of the generous hajusuuri. Pair it with a lavender gin spritzer, accompanied by a leetle mason jar of spicy pickled carrot chips.
You smell fabulous!
I really do! And it has great lasting power. It’s been 11 h since I put it on, but I’m still getting gusts of delicious cardboard carrots!
I’ve been having a bit of a vetiver party at chez kpaint this week. I wore, in quick succession, Prada Infusion de Vétiver, Fat Electrician, and Sycomore the other day; this morning it was a pre-dawn spritz of Vetiver Tonka and post-sunrise lashings of Guerlain Vetiver. Will wear Vetiver Fatale this week and that’ll be everything vetiver-forward in my collection.
And then I just might start all over again 😉
Which is the favorite? My collection is vetiver poor.
Nice!!
Yes…please let us know which stand out. I’m drawn to vetiver in the summer but don’t have much. I do have Fat Electrician and Olfactive’s Flash Back with me as samples. I have a small bottle of the Demeter Vetiver at home.
I only wear vetiver in summer so I try to make the most if it. I’m also a wimp and the dark, inky, cold vetivers are too much for me.
The Guerlain is by far my fave. I bought a 100ml bottle last summer and have made about a 30ml dent in it (though admittedly because it wears lightly on me. I had about 15 full sprays on this morning.)
Second to that are the Prada and Atelier. All 3 emphasize the creamy, nutty aspects of vetiver.
Have you tried Vetyverio please? I just ordered samples of the EDT and EDP if that one.
No, I haven’t. I’ll be curious to hear what you think.
Hey, a week of vetiver sounds pretty good!
Branching out again today in Matin d’Orage. It has nothing to do with any cocktail at all, but works for real life–we had a wild storm yesterday! By the time it wears off, I think I’ll re-up with some floral sample I have in my desk at work before tonight’s concert plans…
Wild storms here too, we even lost power for a couple hours.
Good morning all! I just spray on some Demeter Gingerale so I am fizzy and delicious. Of course, ginger ale is part of so many delicious cocktails, my favorite being bourbon and ginger ale, with a twist of lemon. My other favorite cocktail is a mojito – I’ll be wearing Herba Fresca tomorrow, which is very mojito-esque.
I’m not a fan of Campari – I like my drinks more sweet and it’s too bitter/herbal for me but my husband loves it. That drink does look so inviting – I love the red color of Campari if nothing else!
You and I have similar taste in cocktails! I love a Dark & Stormy (ginger ale, lime, and dark rum)
I like a Dark & Stormy too…had one made with crushed ginger and then the rim dipped in some sort of dark molasses, and it was amazing. Too caloric for regular use though!
I love a Dark & Stormy too! Cheers!
Also, if you can find it, Gosling’s (who makes the dark rum) also make a good quality ginger beer as well. We are ginger ale/beer aficianados in this house, and it’s one of my favorites. My husband likes the ones that are crazy gingery and spicy, I go for more the middle of the road.
Oh yum I’ll look out for Gosling’s, thanks!
I am like your husband…I like the ginger ale/beer super gingery and spicy…mouth burning 😉
When I was a kid, my dad would buy Tiger Ginger ale – I believe it was local to the DC area. It was so spicy, we could just take tiny sips and would still end up coughing! Too bad they don’t make it any more!
http://www.chosi.org/bottles/labels/rockcreek_06.jpg
if they did I would be trying to find it somewhere 🙂
I was once at a bar with a very thick-accented Bostonian who ordered a cocktail whose name I could not for the life of me make out. After he repeated it at increasing decibels to no avail, I finally had him spell it out.
Said cocktail was a Dark & Stormy. Or daaah kund stammy, depending on where you’re from.
Ha!
That sounds delicious!!!!
Oh a Dark and Stormy sounds delicious! A favorite winter drink at my house is a Jack and Ginger.
Been a while since I’ve enjoyed a Dark & Stormy.
1) I love Campari and other amaros! In the summer, a Campari and soda with an orange slice is lovely! Since I am on a 30 day challenge, a blend of Angostura bitters and brewed hibiscus tea with sparkling soda is a great substitute.
2) SOTD: Philosykos! Perfect for calmed down weather!
Oh, your virgin cocktail sounds great! I love bitters, and often add cardamom or grapefruit bitters to my tea.
Oh, how delightful- espeically in the afternoon as a pick me up. Oh, and speaking of bitters, allow me to brag on my hometown producers of fine bitters:
https://impropergoods.com/collections/the-bitter-housewife
OMG, just for the name The Bitter Housewife, I want some.
Have you had them? The lime coriander is very tempting.
I have! When you mention grapefruit and cardamom bitters I thought “Oh, Robin will get a kick out of this!” I have bought the sampler pack, and the cardamom bitters are delicious and intriguing in hot chocolate. The orange bitters are perfect for mimosas and would be great in sparkling water as well.
Thank you! And they’re on Amazon, few dollars more but I can live with that…they are in my cart now.
Bitters do have alcohol in them, although one drinks such tiny amounts for most people it wouldn’t matter. I’ve developed such a sensitivity to alcohol though that I can’t even do a couple of dashes. Very sad for me as there are drinks I love but can no longer tolerate!
I think some of the Fee Brothers bitters are glycerin based? I think they still have some alcohol but less than regular bitters. Not 100% sure though.
A dry bitter cocktail of vetiver, pepper and something subtly nut-musk, Sous le Vent, from a little roll-on decant (bleah to the roll-on, right?) that I hide away until it is hot. Tears in advance for when this one is gone!
The balls in rollerballs are usually pretty easy to pop out. Enjoy it while you’ve got it! Jealous of your hot weather ????
Today didn’t turn out to be as hot as yesterday, did it? It’s still a lovely scent anyway. I was worried that if I took the ball out, it would evaporate faster, but I have no science to support that theory.
Take the ball out and decant to an atomizer. It’s the only way to get travel sizes of many perfumes.
Oh – you’re probably right about the evaporation. *conundrum*
I’m wearing my sample of AdP Mitro di Panarea? I think, because I can’t read the writing to well. It smells like a prettier Orange Sanguine to me. I like it. I layered a small amount of Santal Carmine with it, because, well I just wanted to, lol, they mix well.
You were close — it is Mirto.
Thanks!
That’s so funny…I’ve been wearing OS all week, and today I was rummaging in my Atelier stash, and emptied the last of a Sephora sample of SC on top of the Orange Sanguine.
Oh dear, please forgive the run on sentence. ????
SotD = Cologne du Parfumeur
Citrus and herbs with a touch of bitterness. A lucky choice since today feels like Campari day around here. I’d really like a cold chinotto this morning. I ate a snack late last night. Ugh, won’t do that close to bedtime anymore.
Later today I’ll try a sample of Lubin Epidor, can’t remember if I tried it yet. Yesterday’s sample of Hwyl reminded me strongly of the wood shavings I used for bedding when I had pet hamsters. I like that smell. Oh, to be a kid again.
I love that wood shaving smell too.
Glad I’m not alone there! If you haven’t already I hope you can give Hwyl a sniff. It instantly transported me back to those cedar-y childhood moments.
I’m wearing SL Vitriol d’Oeillet today. I don’t think I’ve ever actually had Campari, but this thread is making me want some.
Whoever mentioned San Pellegrino Chinotto above: that stuff is great, but it’s not as easy to find as their other flavors. I’ve bought it at Central Market here, but I don’t think I’ve seen it anywhere else.
Instead of Campari, I’ve been drawn more to Aperol and had Aperol spritzes or just mixed with soda water. I love the bright orange so thought that maybe I’d continue to use up the travel spray of Seville a L’Aube. Well, only one spritz of that left so I added the Olfactive Flash Back. Come to find out one of its primary top notes is rhubarb, which is a key ingredient in Aperol. So that works!
My normal cocktails run toward bourbon based. The ones that have little other than the bourbon. But an Aperol spritz topped with a slice of orange is just so pretty! And refreshing.
Wednesday already? That means I go back to work tomorrow. I’m melting today and decided to go with Madonna Truth or Dare and pretend I’m on a veranda drinking iced sweet tea (I’m not much of a drinker but I grew up with southern grandparents and sweet tea runs in my veins!) instead of at my computer studying. HAGD everyone!
Perfect fragrance for sweet tea! Sorry you have to go back to work.
i run screaming from campari, but then i enjoy a nice fernet branca so what do i know?
i’ve been down for a week with a dry socket, so i haven’t eaten, slept or wore perfume. easing myself back in with no. 5 l’eau 🙂
Ugh, so sorry — I had that years ago after having teeth pulled! Hope you are better soon.
I have never had Fernet Branca and am afraid to, LOL — I will stick with my Meletti and Averna 😉
I’m definitely on the mend! Enjoying all the snacks I couldn’t last week.
Fernet is kind of like a very dry, not-sweet Jaegermeister. But I don’t like Jaeger either, so it’s a mystery to me!
Ow! I remember getting a dry socket when I had my wisdom teeth removed. VERY painful. My sympathies.
Finally a non-scorching hot humid day. I am wearing Mad et Len Petits Papiers.
Hooray for non scorching days! I looked up Petits Papiers the other day when you were all conversing about it…you smell good 🙂
OOOO and i just sprayed the top of my hand with Pink Sugar!!! If the girls don’t steal it from me (right now it is living in the basement) I might just wear it in the winter….shameful of me to say, but I actually really like it because it reminds me of my girls who both wore it in the past 🙂
Nothing shameful about liking Pink Sugar! Especially for the reason you cited.
😉
I like Pink Sugar too! It sells a lot of bottles for a reason.???? I would love a perfume that reminds me of my girls!
Insanely busy day. Thanks for the encouragement yesterday on my 30 day no alcohol quest. I already had to turn down beers at a brewery Friday but I’m remaining strong.
No. 5 L’eau today because I love it.
You smell great KellyC. Stay strong in your quest. You have made a great start!
bravo bravo
You smell wonderful. Cheering you on!
Wow, turning down beer at a brewery is tough! Yay you for staying strong!
We’re rooting for you!
I am absolutely sure I did 30 days without alcohol, more than once in the past few years, without even trying. I really don’t drink much.
I’m enjoying reading about everyone’s favorite drinks. I’m not much of a drinker myself as it usually doesn’t agree with me.
That was quite a storm we had yesterday. A tornado touched down in a neighboring town and ripped the roof off a pizza parlor. Luckily, I didn’t get stuck at work for once or I would have trapped until the weather let up.
SOTD is Lumiere Blanche.
whoa! where was this..?
Glad you are safe
Whoa….Tornado’s look really scary. We don’t get those in South Africa, luckily!
Glad you are safe!
Yow! No tornadoes for me yesterday, just heavy rain… sounds like your weather was much worse. The power washing guys knocked off about 3 feet of one of the downspouts during their work, so I will have to re-attach it before the next round of wet weather rolls in.
Glad you are safe. Tornadoes are so scary and destructive.
I was never in any danger. I knew a bad storm was coming so I left work at my normal time instead of working late as I usually do. My colleagues who work later were caught at work. There were storm warnings directing people to stay indoors after I left for the day. The tornado touched down in a small mill town in CT, about 10 miles as the crow flies from were I live. I hope there wasn’t too much damage. We spend time there often on weekends because it has great restaurants and cafes. It’s also known for it’s antique stores.
Wow! You guys really got it bad, but glad you’re ok. Fortunately wasn’t too bad here.
It was a weird storm. Certain areas were hit really hard. For me, it was just a deluge of rain and some thunder. We need the rain, so it was a good thing for us. I hope you made it home before it hit.
Boston live swap tomorrow after work. My screen name is my yahoo address if you wish to email for more details.
Sample of the day is Puredistance Warzwawa (or however it’s spelled) which is definitely a womanly, not girly, floral
Have fun, and report back!
I was testing new Santal Nabataea from Mona di Orio today
Hmm is that a new one? How is it?
Back in the good old days of clubbing,my standard drinks were:Tequila shooters on arrival,Po10C bodyshots offered by the hunky go-go boys, and finally a campari with orange juice just before we left.Obviously I was never a designated driver, lol.
The first time Carrie Bradshaw sipped a Cosmo,I was on the bandwagon, never to get off again!Haha!
Strawberry daiquiri’s will however always be my favorite….except there is a big contender for that title:Chocolate Martini.
Recipe to follow Friday, but it’s so easy and really delicious.
SOTD!Zara Black,you are slayed…✌????✌????
Yay! another one bites the dust!
Wahoo! I like Chocolate Martini as well…I don’t make them, just drink if it is on the menu!
A cocktail of mimosa here ….Prada Mimosa, Lakeland Flora, and JM Mimosa and Cardamon…spray lavishly and shake….hic. Good but not as good as the air surrounding my neighbour’s wattle that has started to bloom ( very early). Thursday…Monday’s grumpy uncle. Ugh with a sigh on top!
Monday’s grumpy uncle! I like that.
Wearing No. 19 as my next use It Up! project. Have been immensely productive today – coincidence?
🙂
LOL – Twins!
I had to take my elderly mother to a long drs appointment this morning so I started with a discreet spritz of Cashmere Mist, which I had completely forgotten about but it’s really a very pleasant woody jasmine. After coming home I rummaged around in the dark perfume cabinet and came across Rosine Rose d’Homme which is now the newest on the list of why don’t I wear this more often? perfumes.
I have really enjoyed reading everyone’s drink recs and don’t believe I have ever tasted Campari which I want to remedy soon. It’s so pretty, too 🙂
Rose d’Homme is very nice!
I love those why don’t I wear this more often perfumes!
The number of campari drinkers here is a surprise…I think of it as something most people don’t love.
Oh, then now’s my time to chime in and say I was a big Campari fan when I did imbibe. Negronis were a fave.
This also triggered a flashback of a Campari shortage in Seattle that happened about 10 years ago. Not a Negroni to be had in bars for a while…
I love the photo, too.
Found an old bottle of Rampage tucked away for safe keeping (from I’m not even sure when). It still smells good, so I have that on today.
Gorgeous summer day here! The cats were peacefully napping in the bay window this afternoon, making up for missing yesterday’s nap(s).
SOTD = Diptyque Tempo, from the decant stash and Hajusuuri. It’s a lovely summer weight patchouli on me with a hint of cosmetic powder and violet leaf. Back in the scented groove today! This would pair very well with a locally brewed Saison beer. Or maybe a sessionable IPA. ????
I love the idea of peacefully snoozing kitties and Tempo sounds really good!
If you like patch, you ought to try Tempo. Pity that it only comes in a 2.5 oz bottle, though.
I am sending you some Tempo!
I have yours ready to go too. I just haven’t left work in time to make it to my local post office.
Excellent description of Tempo. I found it lovely too.
Durga, sweet tuberose in the heat. I love this stuff. So spendy! Using u other bottles to justify buying some of this in the fall.
Cocktail. Sweet vermouth and black cherry juice on ice…
You got me thinking, why do us perfume folk always feel like we have to justify a new bottle? I wonder if people who love shoes or knick knacking things do this? I mean, you can’t use up little porcelain knick knacks and shoes take a while to wear out… anyway glad you found a perfume you love!
I feel like I have to justify it because it has a limited shelf life. Porcelain knick knacks will last forever, so you can kid yourself that they’ll find a new home when you’re done with them.
SOTD is FMK APOM
I love a frozen margarita, and I’ll take mine with salt please, and top shelf tequila! Just enjoyed this last Saturday night with shrimp tacos, yum.
Not sure what perfume would evoke all that—something with lots of lime.
Tomorrow a.m. I report for surgery! I’m glad to get this taken care of. Hope to report in soon!
Good luck to you on your surgery and wishing you a speedy recovery.
I think Atelier Cologne Cedrat Enivrant would work well with shrimp taco!
Best of luck for your surgery!
Another TV thriller for you : London Spy. I bet you’ve already seen it though.
No, I’ll look for it!
The best for you on your surgery Calypso. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Glad you are getting your surgery. The best of luck and a quick recovery!
Good luck Calypso and a speedy recovery!
Best of luck tomorrow with your surgery! I hope your recovery is a fast and easy one.
Oh, I’m outta the loop and don’t know what procedure you’re having but certainly hope for a speedy and painless recovery! ????????
Hope it is quick & easy and we hear from you soon!
Best wishes to you and hope it all goes well!
Best wishes for a successful surgery and fast healing!
Good luck!
SOTD = Chanel No.19 EDP
Oh how I love thee!
I did not succumb to Prime Days, although I had been eyeing Kindle Paperwhite. Having to choose accessories stressed me out more than anything else. Do I really need it! I already have a beloved iPad mini which I do use as a reader and has traveled with me for the past 5+ years. And I also ended up not using the $25 off $119 eBay purchase. I stimulated the economy buy purchasing a much awaited bottle of Mad et Len Petit Papiers. I am glad apsara brought it up and cazaubon responded as I had been stalking it but stopped the last few days and lo and behold, it was back in stock!
That’s pretty darn cool that you found the bottle of Med et Len you’d been staking out.
Forgot to mention that I read the link you had posted on Japanese toilets. That was hysterical!!!
It was too sophisticated…I would be afraid to use it!
I missed the email they sent but I’m glad I got it before it was too late!
I was planning on a Paperwhite too, simply because the battery life is amazing and the no glare screen would be easier on my old eyes compared to my iPhone screen. The site was down when I went to purchase, and then I just forgot about it. Money saved!
The deals on CyberMonday may be better. If the price goes down to $60 or below, I’m getting one.
I finally got to hear the satisfying ‘thunk clunk’ in the garbage can for my empty bottle of Lemoncello perfume! And there is a fantastic Lemon Drop martini that would pair nicely.
Continuing the citrus theme with a bit of Jour d’Hermes tonight. No martini though..
